Perfect for Creating Routeso
Found this app doing a search for what I needed. I wanted to create a route, share it with people and also create a GPX file for other smartwatches. There’s not all in one app like this for this cheap or free. Also I didn’t need all the bells and whistles like Strava or Map My Run. It actually has more than I expected for a free app. It also shows all kinds of data on the Apple Watch and iPhone. And it calls out data like pace, miles where to turn etc in your Bluetooth headphones, watch and phone. I just tested this morning for the first time and worked great. Now for GPX files and to save serval routes you have to pay, but a third of the price for Strava. I don’t even think you can map routes in Map my Run. If you just want a couple routes this is a great free app. And I wanted a live tracking feature to let someone know just in case something happens. This has it too in the paid version for way less than the others. All I can say so far is this is a great app. Not sure why all the 1 and 2 star reviews. I’ll probably pay the yearly just to give them money to keep this app going.
App Broken. Doesn’t recognize subscription
Proceed cautiously.. app doesn’t recognize premium purchase. May have just wasted $6
Good, but could be better
Some weird things with the Apple watch, if you start a run on the watch, it will not announce turns on headphones connected to phone. Even though I have it set to only announce on phone, it still does it on both. Recently I've had it pause my runs the whole time, even though auto pause is turned off. Other than that, route planner is great
Must Pay for a Simple Feature
You’ve got to pay to sync with Strava. It’s ridiculous. Every other app on the face of this planet doesn’t charge for this feature.
Want to love but a bit glitchy
Love the idea of this app! And with a few improvements, it could be perfect. For one, as other users have stated, it often creates and narrates unnecessary turns in the middle of the run. I will be on a straight section and it will say “turn right, turn left” to keep me going straight. Two, no matter how many times I select the option to only announce turns on my phones, the app will announce from my phone to my headphones AND watch app will announce for everyone nearby to hear. It’s incredibly annoying. Three, because of all the unnecessary audio cues, I often have to pull out my phone to check the map. It would be so much easier if one of the options on the watch app was a map zoomed in on my current location on the run. Four, I wish I could select how many announcements I want for turns. Sometimes it’s just one per turn, sometimes it feels like 3-4. It’s very disruptive. And last but certainly not least (maybe the most annoying glitch!), sometimes I need to pause my run to look at the map. Whether I pause from my watch or phone app, it will immediately “resume” on its own. So I’ll pause it again, then it will restart immediately, and on and on. I hate the impact that has on my mileage times since the app is tracking my pace / mileage. If you’re someone who likes to stop and stretch or stop and walk, this glitch might be a deal breaker. For the pros, it’s really easy to create and share new routes. I can also make them private which is great so strangers don’t know my routes. You can create routes using roads, trails, paths, etc. - anything that would show up on a map. If your trail run has a lot of turns, it gets pretty annoying with the constant interruptions but it’s better than having to carry my phone and check the map all the time. Honestly if they can fix the issues above, this will be my favorite running app. And until then, I’m still going to use it because I like to run different routes without having to stare at my phone the whole time and I have yet to find another app that does everything I want.
Overall app has been great, but…
Recently my turn by turn directions stop after the 5th or 6th turn, leaving me a little lost on various routes I do through different run groups. Another runner shared a similar experience with me this morning. My setting are set to give me a summary every 5 miles, and that still works. I can also still see my self on the map (I’m using an Apple Watch). But the upcoming turn info gets frozen after the 5th or 6th turn and fails to give me any more info after that. I hope this is a known bug that has a fix soon 🤞
App no longer Speaks Turns, the Entire Point of the App
I have used the RunGo app as a Premium user successfully for years without issue. The past few updates have completely broken the core function of the app to speak turns and route directions. The app no longer speaks at all from my Apple Watch. I have tried restarting both my Apple Watch and iPhone, and tried to ensure that the volume is turned up in the RunGo app settings on the watch. I’ll reach out to support and hopefully they can help me fix this. Otherwise the app is essentially useless for me.
Really good but one flaw
I love using this app to make routes but there’s one key issue. You can’t drop waypoints down if your route has already passed through that point. This is really frustrating when trying to make a route that crosses over itself multiple times, or goes down the same road again. Could this be fixed or is it already possible and I’m just not doing it correctly?
App Crashes When I Click Start Route
I imported a GPX file and it worked fine until I clicked start route where the app keeps crashing
Needs a little improvement
The link between Iwatch and iPhone is not great start the run on the watch and despite setting the system to play instructions on phone it still plays instructions out load on watch. Does sometimes get lost. And it does not seem to have an offline ability but it is cheaper than the competition.
The best of it's kind
This app is so much better than others that claim to do the same thing. I never have trouble finding routes, and the turn by turn directions always keep me on track.
Won’t even create profile
I downloaded this to use on my run training. It won’t even create a profile. It just crashes back to the Home Screen. This has been going on for 2 days.
Great. But how….
Just started using the app but the biggest reason for purchase was so that I could start and stop runs using Siri, as my phone is in my running belt. (since I don’t have an Apple Watch) So I utter the command and Siri replies "Starting your workout in RunGo", but nothing happens.
Announces turns half the time
If you really trying to use this without the phone half the time it doesn’t tell you which way to turn you have to look at the map section on the watch. it has also given me wrong directions when looking at the turn by turn section on the watch. Saying turn left when I really need to turn right to go on another street. but really nice to have the map on the watch when running.
I loved this app until about 3 weeks ago.
This app has been amazing. I love that it works out routes for you and that I can add extra turn instructions and more detailed descriptions like "2km to next token point". Unfortunately I'm the last few weeks it randomly stops giving me turn instructions. Might be 5 minutes or am hour in to a run and then no more instructions. It still gives run duration and distance and elevation and expected route completion duration. As most of my routes are 20km plus and very convoluted routes I now can use the app without regularly referring to the map. Hopefully the developers are aware of the issue and are working on a fix already. I've recommended it to dozens of runners and would love to be able to continue doing so.
Great UI & Voice Nav
The UI on this app is easier to use than other options, and by that I mean that it’s easy to draw a route and correct mistakes . The turn by turn voice nav, even on trails us the real reason to use this. Devs: Thank you for the automatic export to ’shortcuts’ to start a trip. Will you please give us more ‘shortcuts’ endpoints? I would like to be able to use a shortcut to query RunGo for route and stats in RAM, then write to my own server after a run.
They keep your data hostage
Horrible app It comes with a standard route planner, something I can get from EasyRoute for free. Then it doesn’t have audio cues if you plan your own route, just beeps. Then it WON’T let me export MY DATA, unless I pay their subscription. Data that the built in WORKOUTS all gives you for FREE. There is absolutely nothing beneficial about this app, and since I cannot export my route to Strava or Garmin, I cannot sync it with all my other training. I ran 15 miles for nothing!
Great App, Needs Some Improvements
I’ve been using RunGo for three years now and am a paid subscriber. Overall, this is a great app. It’s easy to create and save routes, audio cues work well and it syncs with Apple Health and Strava. I do wish they would make some improvements. When you create a route, at each point you add it often adds unnecessary turns. For example, if I add a point on a straightaway, it will sometimes say, “turn left, now turn right” or “turn around, turn around”. Trying to edit these points often messes up the entire route. For detailed editing and certain features, you need to use a computer. Also, Facebook login no longer works correctly and it took over a week for support to migrate my login. Lastly, if you go off route (which is easy to do when trail running) it won’t let you know for over a 10th of a mile, so it ends up adding about a quarter mile to the run if you have to backtrack. All this said, this has become a vital running app for me and it has many powerful features that don’t seem to exist in any other running app. It filled the gaps that Strava’s routes lack, and if you already have routes in Strava you can import and manipulate them in RunGo. For what it can do, it definitely deserves 4 stars.
Ooops
So it was working great, but now when i scroll through my log books it closes the app. Strange, looking forward to the fix.
Good but..
Why can’t I edit my routes I’ve created?
Great app to help run in the woods
I used this to plan a run through the woods and it was great to hear about upcoming turns. I could easily gotten lost, but the app kept me on track.
Dumb In-App Purchases
Got this app to help plan my runs. Didn’t realize (they don’t make it obvious) that you can only plan one route, and then you have to pay for a subscription. They don’t tell you that up front. Also, the route making was super buggy and I couldn’t even outline my current run because it doesn’t show sidewalks are connected to certain roads, so it will not let you use them. It’s basically useless and is NOT a free app.
Shouldn’t adding routes for everyone be free?
I really love this idea! I travel a lot for work, and love to explore routes in the areas that I’m traveling. Being able to see routes on the map, makes figuring out where the trails are much easier. However I have noticed that there aren’t as many routes in the system as I would have thought. Places with established trails. So I decided to add those in. And I added 4 new routes and now I have to pay to add any more the routes to the system! Seems like me adding these is contributing. I think there would be 10x as many routes in here, if adding them was free. I certainly would have added 2 more in this last week. Does anyone know if the adding limit is lifetime, or monthly, or how that works? Haven’t been able to find any clear information on it.
Needs work but i like ability to map out
The ability to create a map of your run before you run it is great. I like the option to use straight lines or roads between points. The run tracking itself needs serious work. One example, when "auto pause" is selected the run auto unpauses the run... seems to be random, it does it when moving and when stopped and sometimes doesn't do it for a long while.
App No Longer Reroutes
Is anybody else having this issue? I used the app heavily about 2 months ago. There would be occasions where I took a wrong turn and would have to skip a direction or 2 before I could find my place back onto the route. When that happened the app used to recognize that I missed a turn or two, it used to tell me I was approaching the designated route again and then take off from there. Giving me directions as usual as if nothing happened. This no longer occurs. If I miss a direction or 2 now but eventually find my way back to the route. The app doesn’t reroute me but instead waits for me to pass the last direction I was given. During my last run I was no longer given directions and basically had to keep glancing at my blue dot on the map as I finished the route. Is there something that can be done about this? It would be very helpful if it would reroute you like it once did in the past.
Buggy
Love the app when it works but lately it crashes every time I try to save a downloaded GPX route. Can this be fixed??
Not SAFE for Navigation
Horrible. They’ve made it worse with expensive subscriptions. If you go off course just once the entire mapping is done. It won’t course correct. It won’t tell you when you are off course. And the worst is once you get back on course it will no longer give you turn by turn directions. Imagine traveling for work, getting in a workout and being lost. Having to keep looking at your phone for which way to go. Not efficient and certainly NOT SAFE.
Much improved
I paid for the yearly subscription of this app a little less than a year ago. At first, it was not very compatible with Apple or Strava, which I use regularly. I had to manually download the run data from RunGo and upload it to Strava. Now, it automatically syncs with Apple, Health, and Strava (so long as you give it permission). I run with my Apple Watch Series 6 and typically stream music from Spotify. Today I ran a little over 10 miles and the Watch was down to 10% when I finished. If you use RunGo, I recommend not streaming music using data to preserve battery life on your watch. If you need music, download it to your watch if you use one. I concur with some of the other reviews on here, you will get some odd directions to immediately turn left then right or turnaround and then turnaround again. This can be confusing if you are not at all familiar with your surroundings. This is the only negative of the app for me. If I’m familiar with my surroundings, I will use Apple activity instead so that I can stream music. Other than that, great job and thanks for making a very useful app!
No obvious way for people to follow runner during race
Despite stating that you can share the rungo app and people can watch you progress during the race on the race’s public page, there are no instructions how to do so. People who you share the app with will get frustrated and very upset. There are no instructions in the app or on the Internet. Very poorly done.
Misplaced direction points
I actually really do love this app, and would give it a 5 star rating, however the glitchy part is in the creating of the routes. In the creating process the app puts in turns where they shouldn’t be and where you haven’t specified. So I have to go back over the route carefully to try to remove these extra direction points, otherwise in the playback it may tell me to make a u-turn in the middle of the road or a left only to go a few feet before it says right. It’s not so bad if you have an idea where you are going but when I’m in a place that’s not familiar it becomes frustrating. Really …who wants to be the bad navigator of the group? I have this trouble the most using my iPad, the computer works much better. Not that this a problem but more of a FYI … if you do go off course it takes about a quarter of a mile to let you know. While biking it’s not so bad but running that can be a lot. Happy trails!!!
Hebrew and heart rate
Hi Craig! Love the app! Found great routes in Jerusalem! It would be great if the app would say the Hebrew roads in words like Google directions does. Right now it says “turn right at.. (silence)…” Also can you show the heart rate derived from the Apple Watch on the watch in the RunGo app or must I also run Strava to do that? Cheers Charles Pollick
Great app in theory, lousy support
Update 1/24: Not sure if this was a joke, but I got an email with a somewhat snarky response from the developer today after reaching out multiple times in OCTOBER. I would now say this app is a borderline scam and would NOT recommend.*** Great app in theory, but I haven’t gotten any support since paying for a premium subscription. It’s possible the app was great before the last big iOS release, but the Contact Us button doesn’t actually work/go anywhere and sending a request on the website just goes to a Zendesk queue that hasn’t been responded to in weeks despite check-ins. Doesn’t sync to Strava
Love the app. Just one issue.
I love the app! My first run was awesome. Got directions at appropriate times and had accurate metrics. However, I had to pause the run to go up a hill detour. The pause did not reflect in the “activity” app’s metrics: it says I ran an 11:38 min/mile even though the RunGo app says I ran a 7:45 (which I did do). Is there any way to have the activity app reflect that pace (it tracks averages in the “trends” tab)?
You need a subscription now?
I used this app weekly to create running routes based on distances I needed to run for training. I just recently tried and now you need to pay to create a route. I mean I get it. But I’m annoyed.
Nice but
This is a great app. Except it is lacking in the privacy and security department. It'd get 5 stars from me if all the routes and groups could be made private and allowable to follower. Allow a follower to be kicked off. Lastly, in testing I could not get the voice navigation to work. The vibration alert does but direct audio left and right instructions working would be great.

Must Pay for Route Creating
I’ve been a user for over 4 years and they have changed the app so that you must pay to use route creation. This free feature is the only reason I previously liked the app. I will not stand for paying for something that used to be free and will be deleting the app. All other features are mediocre compared to other tech savvy workout apps.
Distance announcement
Misses distance announcement most of the times
Latest updated kills watch battery
My watch only last for about a 45 min run now, where i used to run for hours and have battery to spare.
Needs improvement
In theory this is a great app and much better than my previous methods used, but…. Whenever I stop to take a photo the app stops working and most of the time I don’t realize until I’m way off route. Or the biggest deal when I’m running in my own city and know my way around. The other frustrating thing is that while in use you can’t view much past your current location. If I finger over in the direction of my run to see where I’m going it moves back to my current location. I use this app for my own runs but also to lead long distance walks. When someone asks me what street were looking for to make a turn I can’t see it.
Great and easy to use
Has a feature most other running apps keep behind a paywall available for free - voice guidance for each turn. Can run with another running app open if you have your history of activities somewhere else. Great app. Happy to leave a five star review.
Horrific UX!
DO NOT BY ANY MEANS use this app. It’s completely useless and is full of massive defects. Literally a complete waste of time, the developers of this app should be ashamed of themselves.
Good running or road test app. but...
No options to stop your screen from darkening or to stop your phone from locking up. Would be nice if there was a way to keep this app and your phone active.
Frequent glitches, missing streets
My run club uses this for mapping routes and there is an issue almost every single week with streets being missing or incorrect, with the turn by turn directions not matching the map and other glitches while using on the route. We continue to use it because it’s really the only game in town but would gladly abandon for something better.
Good . Needs HRM data.
Very good offers useful and unique t by t Nav for running . Needs: Heart rate data collection. If using treadmill with Apple Watch and treadmill run, when run started with watch should sync with iPhone (static on treadmill ) showing virtual location
Extremely responsive app support
Thank you for having such great support for your app! Mine was crashing and I received a reply in less than an hour. Much appreciated!
App keeps crashing
Looks promising, but as soon as I try to create a route the app crashes.
A subscription-based app
A subscription-based app
Inconsistent
Turn by turn directions are inconsistent.
Basics are good, but needs work
Two important features will give a five-star review: - once you make a route it’s impossible (or very un-obvious) how to edit it. I make the route from a hotel room, not knowing the city. When I’m on the ground I see better ways to go — should be easy to modify - along with my last point: after running a route and diverging from the course, we should be given an option to UPDATE the route to reflect how we actually ran. Other feature requests: - make the route designing interface easier to use! I have a lot of trouble drawing the path - once we’ve run the route a few times (three) the vocal indications can be shortened: turn left, turn right etc.. no need to take 15s mispronouncing street names in a foreign language. Overall I like the app, these features will give a five star rating
