Great for controlling hard to reach B camera
Used this for controlling an iPhone 14 placed on a mic stand above a piano keyboard. Able to start and end record function and monitor operation for over an hour. App was running on an iPad Pro 12 inch (2019). Sure beats climbing up on a ladder. Yes there is a lag on the iPad monitor but the iPhone video is pristine. Even with lag I can see pianist’s hands and confirm a good result. Very pleased.
Scam
I can’t support a company that secretly rips off their customers. I paid for remote and suddenly it’s completely gone. I will report the actions for fraudulent actions
Almost perfect but no multitasking
Really useful and works almost perfectly for my needs, but with one caveat: it doesn’t support multitasking and split screen on an iPad. I’d love to have Filmic Remote on one half of my display and my notes on the other half. The only option at the moment is to use Notes as an overlay, but that covers up the remote’s controls.
Not a remote- just a monitor
To call this a remote implies that you can control filmic remotely. While you kinda can, its too laggy to be of any real use that way. I hoped upgrading my ipad and iphone would have fixed this, but, no, its just a crappy app.
Simple And Functional, But
It is locked in the horizontal orientation, so vertical video is displayed within a massive letterbox. Please add vertical orientation support!!

I paid for the app, I paid for the remote
I paid for both the app and remote. Now I can no longer use the remote unless I pay for a subscription. Total ripoff, total scam. Will never support.
It works
Works as intended. 1 star off for the lag, as others mentioned, but impossible to work around that without a tether.
Don’t rely on this to be recording when you think it is
I’ve used Filmic Pro for a few years now and as great as it is, this remote app failed on me which meant I needed to reshoot what was a great take. I had my iPhone up high on a jib, so couldn’t see its screen at all, which is why I got this remote app. It’s great for using another iPhone or iPad as a monitor and setting up focus points, ISO etc, but when you press record, you’d better check that it is actually recording, as when we went to look at the take on the phone, it was nowhere to be seen. Great idea, but poorly executed. I paid £3 for this as I already had Filmic Pro, but still feel robbed. I’m just glad I didn’t pay the full price…

Filmic Support is Great!
I’m changing my review after getting really great tech support from the Filmic crew. I had an issue of the remote not being able to control both the iPhone 12 and 13 Max Pro as camera A and B because it was calling them the same name, and still doing so after I changed the names of both phones to be different. Turns out the app was using the old names from cache inside the Filmic Pro app - so reinstalling the remote app was not getting it to see the new names! I reinstalled Filmic Pro on both phones and it now sees the new phone names and allows me to control both phones. Thank God they explained it to me and that resolved the issue, now I can control both phones and all is well with the remote app again. Being a one man film crew, I use this app on my iPad to lock the exposure and focus with me as the subject from both camera angles, and for this the app is great!
Developer is scammer
Purchased V6 before August 2022. Haven’t used app recently. Creator disabled original app. When I download legacy version of app it shows a message that I can access the legacy version, under SETTINGS -> INFO of the new V7 app. There is no DOWNLOAD LEGACY APP option under INFO. Apple should police abusive scams like this. I don’t need a subscription for an app that I rarely use. Read the user agreement. It is scary!
Firstlight support
I love the capability of this app, though it would be much better if the Filmic Firstlight photo app was also able to be remote controlled by this. That way you could compose the shot, figure out focus, lighting, and colors, all while being in the shot yourself.
The lag
For an extra $10 there shouldn’t be that bad of a lag

Delete Recording Files through Remote
Badly wants file delete functionality through the remote + making the file a favourite with a star. I’m using this app to record my YouTube video tutorials. If the recording has an issue, I cannot delete it through the remote or I cannot mark the correct recordings with star. Having this feature would save lot of time in selecting correct clips in post editing.
A bit disappointing
It cannot work across platforms. I have filmic on an Android because I like the camera way better than my iPhone camera, and I have FilmicRemote on my iPhone. I didn’t know that the app doesn’t communicate across platforms. That would have been valuable information to have before I purchased the app on my phone. I guess I should have researched a bit better before spending the money. So basically, the only way it works is if you’re using 2 apple products or 2 android products. Otherwise, it’s a waste of money.
Focus pull lag
So using an iPhone 13 Pro Max regardless of which video format I choose, it seems the focus pull lags based on the older iPad Air 2 I have connected wirelessly. It’s a shame because the shots it takes when trying a focus pull using the lock points is unusable. Without the remote app it’s great, but my plan is to have this phone mounted higher up to shoot some top down B-roll. Hope this can be fixed.
Black Screen
This is a great app. I use this app a lot for shooting puppet vids in my little shed with no wifi and it was great. Then recently I started to get problems with my ipad pro and iphone connection. The connection occurred but all I got on my ipad was a black screen. I informed the developer who were very quick to respond. They advised me to uninstall then reinstall both apps on both devices, which I did, but also to unselect and then reselect the ‘Preview Active’ option in device settings on my iphone. This done and all in now fine and I’m back in full production. I find this is a great app.
Useless
Have no idea if it’s any good or not, because I can’t get it to open or synch my iPhone to my iPad.
Very useful but expensive
I felt compelled to write a review because of I took the chance, despite the negative reviews, and was glad I did. My use (for context): Recording of music performances or lessons, using the rear camera of my iPhone on a tripod (just much better quality than the selfie camera). I often need multiple takes, because as soon as a camera is recording by brain just forgets how to play! I have tried mirroring programs like AirPower mirror and also a Bluetooth shutter release - which are great for what they do BUT don’t help with self recording (AirPower mirror) or I just don’t TRUST them enough to work for that ONE take that’s the keeper (Bluetooth snapper thingy). I use filmic remote on my watch iPad to compose my shot etc and it is so much easier just pressing the iPad to start new takes, rather than having to go back and forth to the phone (put down guitar, faff with tripod, lean over to short cut and knock everything over, swear, etc). Yes, the latency is....significant! But I’m only using it to compose the shot and then press record. For that, it’s working brilliantly so far. 4* as fees like a steep add on the filmic pro. I didn’t shell out for the bundle, so paid for both apps separately. Summary IF YOU ISE FILMIC PRO AND NEED MULTIPLE TAKES OF SOMETHING USING YOUR REAR FACING CAMERA, and you are in your own, THIS IS REALLY USEFUL
Great App but constant crashing
When using the remote app, trying to change my frame rate settings causes it to crash and I have to restart. Every. Single. Time.

No longer works
I have an iPhone 5s and I can no longer use remote to see what I’m recording - I can stop and start recording and change focus etc but as I can’t see what I’m doing it’s of very limited use

Useful (and clearly misunderstood) ...but brilliant!🐝
Filmic Remote is extremely cool & recommended (and seemingly misunderstood) as it *clearly* mentions in all associated guides, manuals etc; that which connection protocol you choose to use (yes there are indeed options) and consequently; how those connections are setup, naturally has an impact upon how fast, responsive and stable the resulting production environment is (which needs evaluating based upon individual requirements). There’s Bluetooth, WiFi (both established and NON-established network) and LAN (direct peer to peer via Ethernet) naturally with Ethernet being the ultimate for speed & reliability (at the cost of the necessity to tether and power devices - which is possible even remotely and in terms of professional production - recommended. Naturally electromagnetic interference can affect WiFi usage, and firewalls (packet interference via examination etc) can introduce latency or other issues; whilst not to mention the device you’re using (new/old) and the speed it can maintain (2.4 GHz 5 GHz +) and the quality of the Ethernet cables used and their CAT SPEC). My head nearly exploded when I discovered the ‘Ethernet’ option, and the latest round of Apple devices take WiFi speeds even higher, add to that the extended creative possibilities using Apple’s adapters (such as LAN, HDMI and third party hardware switchers etc) and you begin to appreciate the exciting possibilities ahead!

I paid for this app a year ago, even $15 for the remote app, now they go to a monthly subscription. What a rip off, they should be ashamed

I am REALLY missing the option to review- and delete and/or manage your takes through Remote while working!!! One could keep the “camera” in place and manage the footage between several takes... Thanks for the great work, guys!!

Connects fine on iPhone 6s to another iPhone and iPad. But keeps dropping connection. Very frustrating.
Please address video lag
The app is a good idea in principle but the implementation needs work. The video on my 2020 iPad Pro lags behind the video on my iPhone 11 by 2-3 seconds, which makes the app pretty useless as a viewfinder for blocking motion. I think it would be far more useful if the developers would compress the video by a factor of 5-10 to reduce the lag to a couple hundred milliseconds. I’d much rather sacrifice preview quality to reduce lag.
Worked straight off the bat
iP 6s with iPad Mini 4 iOS 12.4.1. No probs at all, connection worked immediately and all functions work as advertised. With iPhone on Dji Osmo the Remote makes operation a snap. Highly recommended.
Subscription model bait and switch
On the companion app a paid for pro app was swirched to a subscription and the paid for pro app will no longer receive feature updates…rendering this app useless.

Lag should not be this bad
How is a 1 second delay acceptable? I get there has to be a delay but this is ridiculous. I’ve use many apps like this and this one by far has the worst latency.
Mac support ?
Hoping you can support for Mac Catalist to see the iPad app work in macOS as well. Wish it can be viewed in n two devices at the same time, iPad and MacBook. Also be great if we were able to see load Luts to see how it world look if one added a lut after. Not to be recorded with the lut. Just to preview while recording.
Massive potential!!
As a mobile film maker, this app can be massive. Struggled at first to get it to work, however when I did get it to work. Wow. Can I ask? Will it work using your phone as a hotspot? If so this would be a game changer, as you be free from WiFi! I shoot both exterior and interior and being able to move away from WiFi would be fab! Please, please work on this app as main stream film makers will finally take mobile film making a bit more seriously.
Hidden cost to use
This app costs $9.99 and won’t work for mirroring iOS devices unless you buy Filmic Pro as well. The price for Filmic Pro is $2.99 PER WEEK, but that’s not shown until you’ve installed that app.
Great for some things and soooo close to perfect.
Edit. Looks like the problem with the app crashing out when disconnected is a function of the ios13 upgrade, so fair enough, I am sure they will sort this bug out. The app works well. Does as it says on the box, giving remote control of the camera functions. Does have one big flaw for me though, when you disconnect from a camera the menu shoots up again, this kills the “clean feed” I am trying to use. So it is great but useless to me at the moment A great shame. With a bit of works this could be the solution to a lot of problems.

Using iPad mini 4, it cause filmic pro to crash on iPhone 10, speed of zoom also not adjustable on remote
Superb add on to a brilliant product.
This is a superb add on to Filmic Pro. I film using an iPhone X on a tripod and am controlling with my iPad from some distance. Few people notice the camera, most see me working on an iPad ! I would love to have remote playback as well.
Lag makes this unusable
Wish there was a way to at least downgrade the video so it wasn’t so laggy and just let you zoom etc. Sadly, it’s just awful as is.

Remote is working ok... it should have Audio Preview funktion, if you work with plus Models, you cannot attach both, headphone and mic at the same Time... would be nice...
Tint slider not working
Tint slider is not working to adjust from the remote app making setting ing up a shot impossible.
Had problems connecting devises !!!!!
Took quite a few attempts to get my iPad to connect to my iphone, it connects now but takes quite a wile.. I use my Ipad as remote and my iphone as camera, the main problem is the picture being transmitted from my iphone and then displayed on my iPad is very poor and very pixelated, when you zoom in or out there is a lot of lag and it is also very jerky. If this gets sorted I would give defiantly a 4 and maybe a 5 !!!!
