Raycast vs Alfred
i’ve been using ALFRED for 10 years or so and it’s pretty awesome and it’s doing more and more for me every day. But the new truth is Raycast does so many things that my ALFRED cannot do and much of it is available on the iOS devices, which is absolutely a game changer thank you so much!
Just a pile of AI slop
Raycast on the Mac is a fantastic utility! I genuinely love using it for productivity, managing windows, quick math, and even custom extensions. However, the first thing you see when opening this app is a list of AI commands. There’s a keyboard that doesn’t even have keys! I hate having to switch back and forth to use the keyboard, which is just a placeholder for generic AI commands. Take long and hard look at what’s useful, what problems is this solving.
The right idea
fantastic app on both Mac and iPhone. I do wish they'd cleaned up rough edges like the AI (paid) failing all the time and the quick ai not following instructions or using web search automatically. otherwise, and perhaps even more so, a great Search replacement and central command hub for Mac. I see the iPhone app taking shape and love the keyboard
Meh
What use ? Just expensive AI tokens, nothing like its « Mac »brother..
I want it to be good
I cannot get my iOS Raycast to sync with macOS or Windows V2. It says it should work now, but I’ve also learned it sinks through a legacy system v1 . In some ways, Raycast is everything. Mac and iOS is missing in other ways. It’s been Sherlock. And though I think the potential is insanely grand. Right now it’s just not there. Maybe if you went back to the original version of Raycast it would work fine. But it’s hard to go back because v2 has so much potential. But it’s really hard to justify a subscription when it’s not syncing across devices for me. And though the free version is awesome I feel like most of it can be done with spotlight and Shortcuts at this point. I really hope they get it together soon.. it’s just a bit of a buggy mess right now, which is understandable given all their recent advancements, but I may be gone by the time they’re done fixing it all.
The Swiss Army knife for the MCPH and for ADHD people like me
Raycast, at first glance, may seem like a tech enthusiast's tinkerer's box. But underneath, if you really dig deep, you'll find that you have a Swiss Army knife to make something that will make your life a lot easier on what is arguably the most important computing device that you can own: your phone. Particular attention to MCP, voice dictation, and the availability of all AI LLMs, or at least most of them, at your fingertips, both on the lock screen, the home screen, the widget screen, and on the keyboard in virtually any application. By connecting your finances, your marketing, your sales CRM, your personal to‑do list, or any other application that might have an MCP server connection available, you can truly, from one hand on your phone from anywhere in the world, quickly summarize, get updates, and even create a new contact from the Raycast app easily, and at the same time synchronize with your iPad and your MacBook. I'm not aware of any other application that can do that right now. So kudos to the Raycast team. Worth every penny.
No locally hosted AI options as of April 2026
I’m an avid user of the MacOS Raycast app and had high hopes for the iOS app. I self-host my own LLMs and am able to access them through the MacOS Raycast app, but there’s no such option in iOS. This makes the iOS app basically useless for me which is a huge bummer. If Raycast ever implements Ollama support in their iOS app, I’ll come back and revise this review.
Cool app!
I love the keyboard and while using grammarly, I feel like raycast keyboard is way better but it doesnt include a whole keyboard, it only has ai tools like grammar check and others. I feel like adding the whole keyboard would be better.
Buggy and sloppy
Great Mac app, super rough and buggy iOS app.
Missing clipboard feature
Great part of desktop app not available
A great companion or standalone toolbox of utilities
For what it is, being able to access my Quicklinks and Snippets alone has been very useful in conducting business on my phone. And although AI chat is just the cherry on top, I’ve ubiquitously used this as my daily entry point for quick information lookup and brainstorming sessions. The versatility here is great, and I see the potential even as a standalone toolbox.
It doesn’t work
Always getting the error ‘cannot open the link’ when I try to login with any of the methods.
Excellent app, but AI could use some polish
Raycast is an outstanding productivity tool that has truly transformed my workflow. The overall experience is fantastic – clean interface, powerful features, and seamless integrations. However, after upgrading to the Pro membership, I’ve noticed the AI responses are noticeably slower compared to competitors. Additionally, markdown syntax occasionally fails to render properly, which can be frustrating when working with formatted content. If the team could optimize AI response speed and improve markdown parsing, this would make an already great app absolutely perfect!
This app has been barely usable for too long now
There’s so many bugs and the tools are useless
Untapped Potential
I would really like to love this app since it has so much potential. So far it is very much limited to Snippets, quick links and and too much AI. Some updates to the Keyboard could make this really useful. Simple thinks like an Emoji picker, clipboard history the ability to togle the Raycast calculator from within the keyboard. Very much hope these updates will come eventually
iOS Productivity Enhancer
Thanks for bringing Raycast to iOS. The app works well and I like the keyboard integration. Would love to see clipboard history sync and am willing to pay for that feature.
Unusable
Chats are garbled and unreadable on iOS 18.

Trying to add a new snippet or note does not work on iPhone 13 Pro Max. Can’t use the plus button which makes the app unusable

I LOVE RAYCAST
I do wish there was an easier way to search for folders. It's so much better than Spotlight.
Raycast iOS Crashes Immediately on Launch – iOS 18.0.1
Raycast opens and instantly crashes back to home screen on iOS 18.0.1. Tried force restart, delete & reinstall, but still happens. App was working fine before. Please fix ASAP – love Raycast on Mac, really want the iOS version too! iphone16 pm, 18.01
Feature request
Please make possible to insert own API keys as we have in Mac version.
Inutile
N’apporte rien de nouveau appart une centralisation de certaines IA (très limité) et seulement 40 questions gratuites sinon pour accéder à votre smartphone et vos dossiers et informations de navigation vous êtes obligez de payer
Bugs in Issue Editing.
Big fan of the MacOS version. Yet, on first attempt: unable to edit issues at all — stuck on first word, inability to scroll, frustrating experience.
iOS only
Raycast is amazing. Easily the best Swiss Army knife of Notes, AI, Productivity I would really love an iOS only option subscription plan. Maybe for a slightly lower price.
This isn’t the Raycast you know
This should be a differently named app because calling it Raycast is extremely deceiving for users of Raycast on Mac. This app is basically worthless if you are on the free plan and don’t want or use the AI junk. Mac version AI can be completely dialed, this is just all AI besides Quick Links, Raycast Notes, and Snippets — which won’t sync on the free plan. There’s no extensions. It’s just a glorified AI front end deceptively named like the Mac app. I’m sure it has usefulness if you have a paid subscription.
Great companion
This is a great companion to the desktop app. Being able to quickly jot down notes and have that serve as a knowledge base is super valuable! I use the weekly note feature to capture thoughts throughout the week and then summarize and formally store in Apple Notes. The AI chat features are great and the UX is very close to GPT. One small improvement, it would be great if we could zoom in or change the orientation of generated images without saving them. See how GPT does it for reference. Overall, $16/mo to have access to every model while also being able to use them with your extensions is a great value!
make ai better
Major bug
After updating to the latest version, all of my favorites except for one (opening a specific note) disappeared. I actually saw them for a split second when I first opened the updated app, and then they were gone. I added some of them back (AI presets), but when opening the app on my iPad, these disappeared again. Only the open-specific-note and Create note favorites are preserved. So, this seems to be some sort of sync issue. Update Several months later, and the sync issue appears fixed. But AI is overall a mess. Slow responses. Frequent failed queries. Switching models works only about half the time. For an app intended for power users, this seems incredibly weak.
Sharesheet and quicklinks!
Really loving raycast share sheet and my fav quicklinks so accessible. App is really fast and solid!
Terrible experience
The keyboard functions are completely unusable. always tips "To access the keyboard, please open the main app to ensure your data is properly synced."
Excellent start!!
As a Raycast user on macOS, I was eager to see its transition to iOS. The app brings over essential features like AI Chat, Notes, Quicklinks, and Snippets, all of which sync across devices—a boon for enhancing productivity on the go. The integration of multiple AI models and the ability to capture ideas swiftly is excellent. Plus, with Whisper voice integration, it already understands almost at the level of ChatGPT (Siri, are you listening!!?), which is pretty amazing. However, I noticed that some functionalities are still limited. Given the platform’s constraints (sigh), this is understandable, but I hope to see features expanded in future updates. I would love for this app to essentially take the place of Finder in iOS, which I use just like a launcher, adding AI and other more in-depth integration like Raycast does with the Mac. For example, as a bridge until more shortcuts can be created directly in Raycast, the ability to trigger iOS shortcuts directly from the Raycast bar would be very useful. Plus, I heard that they are working on a keyboard as part of this. If this is as good as Raycast for Mac OS, sign me up!
Not sure
Wouldn’t let me sign in 🤷♀️
Really Held Back by iOS Limitations
It’s not a super useful app, but honestly I’m not sure they could even make a better one given the limitations on iOS. I use Raycast for a million things on desktop and can’t work without it. But on mobile it’s really just a meh chatbot. Hopefully Apple lets iOS devs make real launchers someday.
Superpowers unlocked
I don’t understand why they call it a spotlight replacer. This app is so much more than that. It enhances iOS capabilities by tenfold at least - and this is the worst it will ever be. 🤯
Long AI chats loading
The app overall is not bad, but AI chats, which is primary feature for me, are loading reaaaaaly long. Also you have always to scroll down to the last message. This is so annoying when you have long chats which is 80% of use cases.
Skepticism to joy
I was skeptical that Raycast on iOS would provide much benefit given Apple’s constraints, but I’m a big fan of the app after just a few usages. Being able to use the standard “Share” button across applications and have that content usable in my AI commands means I can finally do things like read an article and have it output into a format for Notion. The main missing piece to me is having all AI command features available, ex. Normally my article todo takes the content and creates a new page in a specific database for me. On mobile I need to do that part myself.
iOS Limitations Stifle Raycast
Raycast is an exceptional tool—it’s become essential to my workflow on macOS. However, iOS’s restrictive architecture prevents the level of system integration that defines the Raycast experience on Mac, severely limiting its utility on mobile. This constraint stems from iOS itself, not any shortcoming in Raycast’s development. Even a custom Raycast keyboard would fall short unless it achieves full parity with the native iOS keyboard while also replicating Raycast’s extensive functionality. Given the constraints imposed by iOS sandboxing, it’s unlikely that Raycast on iOS will ever achieve the same level of capability as its desktop counterpart.
Great but misses two things
1) ChatGPT vanilla allows me to attach documents via the UI when starting a conversation. Raycast iOS only allows to attach from the photo library. 2) Sync between desktop and iOS chat history.
A Thoughtful Companion to the Productivity GOAT
Raycast on iOS isn’t trying to be a carbon copy of the desktop app experience. Given the constraints of iOS, it smartly focuses on being a lightweight and quickly accessible companion that extends the core Raycast experience in practical ways. The ability to access synced notes, Quicklinks and snippets, and all those sweet flagship AI models in one app is incredibly useful. Everything feels intuitive and polished, complimenting the Mac version well. Kudos to the team for making the mobile experience feel cohesive without overreaching. This is a well-executed extension of an already essential tool in my workflow, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! P.S. what a sexy UI 😎
Please add Microsoft Copilot
This app is great! But personally, the AI chatbot I use the most is Microsoft Copilot. So I would love it if that AI can get added into this app! Then, I’ll change my rating to 5 stars.
This Isn’t Raycast
TL;DR this is just a low-quality AI chat app from the same company as Raycast desktop, and lives up to nothing that made Raycast great When I heard Raycast was coming to iOS, I was excited that it might become the ultimate Action Button launcher app and really bring what makes Raycast on desktop great in a mobile form. There are so many great things about the desktop Raycast, and AI tools are a very small part of that. It’s disappointing that this app gets the name of such an incredible tool when it’s only a shell of it. I’d love to see tools like the amazing calculator, dictionary, or shortcuts. Instead, this app has unpolished chat features (math symbols and files aren’t supported, “Ask Webpage” just goes and searches the web without even using the page you provide, and I could go on). This is just a worse AI chat app than any of the other ones on the App Store, and barely related to the amazing app that is its namesake. I’d love for this app to improve into what it could have been or into a better version of what it is currently. But for now, it’s an unpolished companion app for Raycast Pro users that brings almost nothing good to iOS.
Not really Raycast as we know it
So, this is the official Raycast app. What I mean is that with Raycast on laptop you were able to change your spotlight with Raycast. The equivalent on iPhone would be changing the swipe-down search context to be Raycast instead, or siri with Raycast. You can’t do that with this app. I’m not saying it’s not useful, and I’m sure they’ve got a lot of limitations as it’s Apple. But the nice thing about Raycast is that it changes your search. You’re not able to do that with the app. Without that, the laptop app wouldn’t have seen the value it has. So I don’t think this will see its potential value as well.
Running circles around Spotlight and Siri
The Raycast team executes at a level of craft, capability, and customization that is truly rare. The desktop app is incredibly powerful, and this app makes the best of iOS’ limitations - cannot wait to see how this app grows in the coming months!
Nothing like the Mac version
It’s just a frontend for AI chatbots.
Just another AI chatbot.
I was so excited to see Raycast was finally on iOS — I use it daily on my Mac and was looking forward to seeing how the team had brought the spotlight replacement to my phone….and was immediately let down when I realized it was yet another app with a message box. Y’all could have done so much better than this.
.
Sync feature should be free at least for raycsat notes
