Just what I needed
This is a great and so much what I needed .
App failed
Make sure to back everything up. The app failed to work for me and support isn’t helpful. Don’t get caught off guard!
Wish it had a dashboard like wave accounting
I use this app over wave because it allows me to add photos and Wave does not however, wave accounting provides the user with a dashboard that allows them to see what will become payable in the next 15 days, the next 30 days, and so on. This feature would be extremely useful for contractors, trying to manage a business, the ability to have a quick at a glance look receivables would be much better.
Review
This app is interesting and has some useful features, but the payment structure is frustrating. Even after upgrading and paying extra, it still limits how many estimates you can create. It used to be much simpler and easier to use, but recent changes have made it more restrictive.

Descent app but after I subscribed it sent me an email of a price increase for my subscription about 2 weeks later ,not cool. I don’t care for these kinds of developers who want to charge for everything. That’s right they even charge for uploading photos . I will look for another app .

The Joist investment invoice maker I have been using for years. It's a very nice app to use. I have recommended this other contractors to use the downfall to Joist. Is that not only do they charge a fee but they sent it to a third-party for payment payments to charge an additional fee. That fee can range anywhere from 6 to 9% Which I have highly recommended to my customers not to pay by credit card ,debit card, or e-check. When I first started using the app, they did not go through PayPal. They charged their fee which you could pass on to the customer which was reasonable but now it's. Not recommendable at all, which is very unfortunate because the overall app is nice to use?
Charges $7.99 a month and can’t remove the Sample Logo? Ridiculous
I’m semi-retired and I do jobs here and there, I used the app years ago and loved it so wanted to use it again. But I was so disappointed. I was asked to buy the basic plan to use the app, that allows me up to 5 invoices a month. Great, no problem. I can understand if you had a free version and having a watermark or sample logo, I can understand upgrading to a pro version to use your own logo, but charging $7.99 a month and being stuck with a “sample logo”? Am I supposed to send that to a client? Ridiculous. I’d rather download a free template from Microsoft. I’m gonna ask for a refund because with that sample logo I can’t do anything with it.
Still needing some improvements
I would like them to enable a feature allowing the client to provide a genuine signature on their own device or computer. That would be great and professional.

I’ve used this for basic invoices less than 10 times a year. The basic free package was great. Them they took away images, reduced the basic option to almost nothing, and now charge for everything. Looking for another solution.

Joist used to be free. App has gone down hill with pop ups and increased subscription fees.
Offline/ work order headers
App is a good + platform We just started using it great futures/pros- ability to get paid invoices online and in person A+ great. Ability to submit reviews, get financial support to customers ability to show business credentials like licensing and insurances. Android/ios app and web availability. AI support and live chat Downs/Cons- Offline mode app will not work at all without internet. Invoice headers will not carry over to work orders - So Workers inly get a list of items without knowing where all items go per room. Our company come from other app job-Flex, that offers this future with exception of payments and its only available for android users and web- if joist con-vines what job-flex offers this will be a powerful platform.
Update Issues
Since the update at the weekend, my clients aren’t getting any of my estimates or invoices. The only way they’re getting them is if I send myself a copy and then forward that email on, which is strange I can send myself a copy but not my clients? This needs resolved ASAP
Customer service
The app is mostly easy no navigate. However, there is no one to talk to on ver the phone making it difficult to request or get help via chat.

Don’t use these people they expect you to have a subscription to get your data once you stop using their service. It’s in other words for stealing business information from you. It use to be free

Good product. Joist is a very professional invoicing software. Why I gave 4 stars instead of 5: - does not seamlessly integrate with QuickBooks - Customer Reviews aren’t automatically submitted to Google
Was too good to be true
Another great free app that went from a great app to having standard features removed to attempt people to buy to now becoming useless with only 5 free document a month. It was good whilst it lasted. Thankfully this forced me to look around and now using Zoho invoicing which has far more features and completely free.
After years of use
Love the app for what it is but not the owners. Be aware of consistent subscription price rises for no reason but greed.

Omg this is by far the most annoying app I have ever used! The app itself is fine, but the company won’t leave you alone! Constant messages and emails with ideas and suggestions on how to use the app and get more business! Yes, that’s right! Joust thinks they know more about your business than you!!! Worst part is you can’t stop it!!! Looking for an alternative to this service.

I was one of the first 100 or so ppl to download this app years ago. They have awesome features, but the price goes up pretty much every year. I’m gonna be lookin into the wave app as it has the same features, and 2/3rds the price
Was a great app till they betrayed their loyal original users
Really wanted to give this app 5 stars… However, very irritated that they decided to take away features and charge for them, even to users like my self whom have been using the app since it was released… I get wanting to charge for feature to new users, but have some loyalty to your original users… otherwise, you show no value to the people who helped make joist a better company… please offer some sort of a code to your OG users, because all those original users, who always kept recommending your app to everyone and other businesses, now warn them that features keep disappearing and the app requests you pay… make right by us Joist…

They Keep removing features and increasing the price
They keep removing basic and deported features while increasing the price so they want you to upgrade all the time with the higher monthly rate for basic features you had on your plan. It’s a good app if you pay top dollars for the higher plan tier, but there are many apps over there that will do the same for much cheaper so I wouldn’t start with this one if I knew that they will keep doing it every year
Changing back the invoice date
I was glad that I could change the invoice date back to a later date than what the date was when I sent it. For the customer that I was working for I Started the job couple of months before I sent him the invoice and because of his year end I was going into his next tax year. I made my customer Happy! Jerry with Twin River Eavestroughing & Exteriors. This is a good app once know how to use it. Thank you guys at Joist team!.
Not for me!
I have two company names. but when i modify the name on an invoice or an estimate it changes the business name of an invoice that was already sent under another name, which created chaos in one of my estimates sent to an insurance company, which told the client I looked like a fraudulent company! That kind of sucks! I’ve been using both company names for 20 years.
Good App, Could Be Better
All in all, it’s great. The features available do help me keep biz organized and maintain good comms w/customers. However, there are some issues that cause headaches and take time to learn so you’re prepared for them and can head them off (handling change orders for example from drafting phase, to approval to being paid is clunky, but works. You MUST save docs frequently. If you’re working on an estimate and haven’t saved it in a while, there’s a good chance it’ll kick back an error when you do try to save and your work is nuked; time to start over). The more I use the app, the more I understand what it does and what it doesn’t do well. If you’re willing to grind out a few computer tirades and chalk it up to being educated, it’s a great tool for small contractors. EVERY program has its rip your hair out frustrations. Overall, Joist has been my preferred app when considering cost, features, and user experience.

Slowly but surely, every good feature I’ve been using as a pro subscriber, becomes an Elite subscription service. I’m moving to a different platform.
Super simple has everything you need
Been using this app for the last 6 years after looking at a few others. This one seems to be the easiest and best one. I finally upgraded to the $20 a month which is absolutely reasonable after using the free version for a while. Happy to support a well designed tool.

was a good app and i loved it until asking for a monthly premium to go pro! which i begrudgingly agreed to thinking i would get all features and as advertised and future features, then guess what another price hike to go to PRO ELITE!!! what’s next “PRO ELITE PLUS” your getting greedy guys! and this will push users to other apps!

I give it a 5 star for being functional user friendly and the payment options for client are all there . I give it negative stars for cutting out app functions like reports which I had already upgraded to pro (cost more) to keep now they take them away and say upgrade again to elite to see them , which of course cost more which I’m tapped out for this so see ya I’m moving on to better cheaper app

Extortion
I started using this app when it was free. Then it went to charging and now limited documentation. I’m retiring now and must pay a monthly fee to access records I paid a monthly fee to create. EXTORTION!!!

Handy BUT COULD BE BETTER
The email notifications don’t work it’s supposed to let you know when your email is opened. The free app doesn’t let you set up a standard email subject line for repetitive information. The free app doesn’t let you set up repetitive information in the “Notes for Client” field either. A column for “date of service” would be a helpful option.
