$70 to use a meditation app that should be free. Not worth it
Hate the horizontal menu swipe
I love this app but the horizontal sliding to transition between menu sections leads to lots of accidents and ending up places I didn’t intend to. It’s driving me bananas! If your app is full of horizontal carousels, users will be swiping horizontally a lot to access different content. Don’t add another horizontal gesture that will deposit them somewhere totally different. There was nothing wrong with the old tap to change menu, and it never interrupted my task.
upsetting
i used to love this app and just recently wanted to try it out again. everything is locked unless you pay. very very disappointing and upsetting
Good app but unusable on 5G
I want to use this app at work or where my stress is highest. This app is unusable for me off WiFi. It’s way over designed with cutesy Corporate Memphis graphics and HD videos of their coaches saying things like “You know, that is a great question” for minutes before giving 20 seconds of tips, that could have been done just as well with a much lighter audio file. On 5G it takes me forever to load content and then errors out anyway. It’s sad because the concept is good but I’m paying $12.99 a month and effectively getting nothing for it. Maybe add a data saver option?

Headspace cust svc made it right, and then some, when my subscription disappeared
I was super annoyed when my annual subscription disappeared 6 months in. Contacted customer service, and though they couldn’t restore my account for some reason, they gave me a new annual subscription. The process was very quick and very easy, and I really appreciate what I hope was human staff. Haven’t gotten to jump back in, but before I took my break from the app, I found the level of the app pushing adding therapy services to be way overwrought. No way that gets five stars, despite my satisfaction with customer service.
Hero to zero
I used to love this app so much and have used it since pre-covid days, but it’s so glitchy now and causes so much stress. I can’t go a day without having to log out and log back in or delete the whole app and reinstall it. The loading times have got so bad that it won’t pull up the meditations or soundscapes, so I’ve just stopped using it. So disappointing as I’ve loved this app for years and paid for it too. I’ve spoken to support and they just told me to delete the app and reinstall it - which isn’t a great constant solution. I won’t be renewing my subscription this year.
mission drift
i’ve used this app (almost) daily for years and i’m disappointed in the direction the company is going. the longtime users of this app value it for it’s meditation and mindfulness focus. I don’t need or want a broader “health and wellness” app. i’ve subscribed for years, i’m looking around for a different option

Annoying
I wanted to like this but it’s just an app designed to add frustration to your life. it advertises meditation training but it just gives you very some light guided meditation. I tried to take a CBT (another topic, I couldn’t find one on meditation) but it prevented me from taking multiple sessions the same day. I mean, why bother learning it while I’m interested in it? Instead, make me watch an intro, give me a task like, “think about your feelings“ then tell me to come back tomorrow to actually learn something? I know what you’re thinking, ‘this person clearly needs some meditation and patience practice’. You’re right but i’ll use the Calm app instead because it doesn’t give me a whole new set of feelings to learn about.
Horrible memory
I am constantly having to remind the AI about key events… and certain things that circulate around what we’re discussing and it throws out random stuff from like weeks ago that does not pertain to the current situation. I’m trying to talk about or it just keeps asking what happened even though I explained everything again and again, so it’s hard to progress with something that doesn’t remember what you’ve already told
Fantastic app
Best meditation app ever. Have used it for years and there’s zero BS like the other meditation apps. Would prefer if they stop promoting “therapy” services with full screen interstitials/ pop ups, but whatever.

Also, newest version sometimes locks up. And it’s a navigation nightmare as others have noted.
Ebb is impressive
I’ve been someone who has struggled with anxiety my whole life, and the mix of meditation and therapy this app provides has been really effective for me. I have a three-pronged system in place. I speak to my therapist twice a week, meditate once a day, and externalize to Ebb during flare-ups of anxiety. These three things working together has made me feel a sense of progress I haven’t felt in a long time. Ebb has especially come a long way since I first tried to use it when it was first introduced. It asks good questions, makes interesting connections from prior conversations, and can make effective suggestions to navigate specific moments. This will never replace my therapy, but to have a place to catch anxiety in the moment, talk through the lessons I’ve learned from my therapy, and work through things quickly with a cognitive behavioral approach, helps me catch anxiety before my day begins to spiral. Very impressed and curious to see where things go from here.
False advertising and charging without notice
Terrible experience, during the sign up process, on multiple pages was it listed that a free 14 day trial was available, even once I signed into an old account from years ago it still told me a free trial was available. Once I entered my payment information they pulled a bait and switch, deciding that I wasn’t eligible for a free trial, and that they would charge me for a full years subscription without any notice. They than proceeded to refuse to fix the problem.
Headspace how?
Bro why the ai DOES NOT WORK it does not do what requested and it’s impossible to find new HALF-DECENT music without the narration and I car even find it becuz the home page is too confusing to find anything in the first place!!!
Needs new content
I’ve meditated for more than 10,000 minutes on this app, but it feels like there is no new meditation content and the daily meditations are just repeating now. It needs a content refresh. The meditations should help me become more mindful, but when they are constantly repeating over and over again, it gives mindlessness. The benefit is no longer the same
Love but could be better
Please please please take feedback of the layout and features of this app!!! It is much too complex and simple is better when it comes to designing a mindfulness app that doesn’t create a headache. I do a sleep cast everyday before bed since I was a kid, It has improved my life ten fold. I do have to say however that I wish the sleep casts had a way to pick the wind down exercises. Currently there is no way to consistently get the same one (that I have found) . I definitely have my favorite wind downs that I wish I could do every time. Next in terms of AI I am a huge believer that it should never be incorporated into therapy spaces and it’s significantly decreased my rating of this app Finally I just want to say that as a person who was literally a costumer in the beginning stages (bought a lifetime membership in January of 2015) it has only gone downhill. I believe that this has the potential to be the best product on the market if you would only listen to users
Amazing help
I’ve been using this app for over 10 years for meditation, anxiety and sleep. It has genuinely increased my quality of life and given me so many tools to use in day to day life
Money required
I used this app a little bit 5 years ago and back then, the only thing you had to pay for was if you wanted therapy (which makes sense). Last week, I tried to use this app again because I’ve been stressed and depressed and the only thing I could do is take an anxiety and stress quiz. It irritates me that they can make this app more accessible to more people, but choose to force people into this subscription model when anyone can google ‘good meditation YouTube channels’ and get free options from a random Reddit user. They used to be more accessible because you used to not have to pay for much, but now you have to pay for everything on the app. A this point, just make people pay to download the app, because it’s not free in the slightest.
You should add a widget
I find that a widget which maintains and shows like a streak as Duolingo will be a really great addition
Beware the “Free Trial”
The meditation content is genuinely excellent. The sessions are well-produced, calming, and effective, which is why I’m giving more than one star. Unfortunately, my experience with the subscription completely overshadowed that. I signed up expecting a free trial, but was charged for a full year instead. Whether this was due to confusing wording or how the trial was presented, it felt misleading and underhanded. If you’re considering this app, pay extremely close attention to the subscription details before starting the trial. The meditation itself is great, but the billing experience left me feeling deceived.

Taking money and I don’t have this app!
I noticed this app withdrew money from my bank account. Maybe I had it installed at some point but canceled it? I cannot open it on my phone. I can only access it through Through the App Store and it will not open. It’s not listed on my Apple subscriptions. I don’t even know how it got my new debit card number.

Bring the Wake-Up back please!
Please bring the wake-up back to be available on the Home Screen during any time of day. Watching it in the evenings has been part of my wind-down routine for years. I can get meditations anywhere. I’ve stayed with Headspace for years because of the Wake-Up. If it doesn’t come back, I’ll probably cancel my subscription.

Love this app! My work pays for it as a benefit. I love the sleep stories, meditations, & sounscsapes. Especially the Sesame Street kids sleep stories. Overall very great for mindfulness!

I tried deleting my account because I just don’t want this app anymore it’s to much money and they won’t let me I have hardly used this app and I I don’t want it anymore but it won’t let me delete it what a stupid scam!!!! Do you better you money hungry idiots
Meditation great, podcasts not great
The app is great for meditation but the podcasts are disappointing. Do we need more space filled with the opinions and experience of ultra privileged American people in their early 30s? I think headspace needs to be more responsible/considerate with their variety of podcasts/ hosts
You have to pay for everything
Headspace used to be an amazing app, I used to use it all the time back in the day. I downloaded it in hopes to get back into meditation, just to find out it’s a “free” app but almost nothing in the app is free! At this point just make the app not free so people aren’t confined to about 3 courses! 🤦♀️

Love this app!
This app has been amazing! My doctor recommended it and I was like “Yeah okay sure I’ll try it” not really thinking it would change much. I’ve been pleasantly surprised I love the content, I hope more continues to be added! The only one suggestion I have is some way to mark off a single course/pod cast etc to check off once I’ve listened to. Maybe even just a check mark something that tells me I’ve already listened to it. Otherwise super happy!
AI Feature Cannot be Removed !
I have used Headspace for years. The AI “Ebb” feature cannot be removed or toggled off. It is in the center of the navigation bar. This is a deal breaker. Do better.
Don’t like the new daily interface
Don’t like the new daily interface at all. It’s very confusing and I very much preferred the daily check-list format that was there before. Have spoken to a lot of people and they share the same sentiment as well
Guided Programs
The guided programs are glitchy and I have to restart and fast forward the videos multiple times to get the session marked complete.
Moved away from meditation
This app used to be good when it was simple and had many straightforward guides meditation courses. Now it’s morphed into an “everything app” with exercise, sleep and all kinds of other hand-wavy wellness stuff that makes the app cluttered and subtly provides pressure to optimise every last aspect of your life, which paradoxically is the absolute opposite of what meditation is about. I’m sure it’s fine for some, but I’ve switched to another app (search “plum village” for a good one).

Headspace has been incredibly beneficial to my mental health and well being. One area that could be improved is when using the app in offline mode - i.e., no internet, such as when flying a long haul flight. Flying is difficult at the best of times, it’s stressful and hard to get some sleep. Usually I want to turn to Headspace to help, but its offline capabilities need improvement. First Headspace is very slow at recognising there is no internet service or even that “aeroplane” mode is on, and takes ages to produce an ‘error’ screen. Then its difficult to navigate your way to any downloaded content, only to find that half the time the downloaded content cannot be played, and that’s if you’ve remembered to download some content for the flight. I find Headspace so valuable, it’s incredibly frustrating to not be able to use it easily when required.
Ebb
The new 30 min limit on chats with Ebb is a terrible update! Just when I’m getting into something meaningful, the 5 minute reminder comes up and then I get anxious about the chat just cutting off before I even finished reading Ebb’s response or if I’m mid typing something! It’s awful user experience and as a result I’ve had to cancel my subscription. Not to mention that Ebb’s replies get cut out, sometimes mid sentence, and I have to point this out so that it can continue. It’s a shame because reflective conversations I’ve had with Ebb before this dictatorial limit have been really useful to me as they helped me order my thoughts and bring stuff to my therapist. Unlike other independent AI tools, I found Ebb objective and not just an echo chamber, so it really is a shame.
Fix the dashboard
I love this app and the amount of features and specificity of meditations etc is amazing, and it makes me feel well equipped to think I can handle what life throws at me. The annoying thing is the amount of space their AI feature takes up (I don’t want to talk to it!!!) and how the dashboard should be more personalised. It is not recommending me useful things, instead I am digging around the app and finding new things to favourite to come back to later, but the favourites section is about 1cm long lol
