As phones take the place of our notepads -and memory banks - apps like this are a huge help with staying organized ! Ez to maneuver - even for a 70yo - heck my 90yo mom even uses it ! TY for helping us keep up in this new world! ❤️
Not what it used to be
After updating it is now extremely laggy and most features are blocked behind a subscription model. I bought the app over a decade ago, ans was great at the time, unfortunately its no longer something I can recommend

I had had this app for years and surprisingly found parts of it confusing to use. Now with additional tips, I am enjoying its versatility.
Original Clear App
The original app was great. My iPhone and iPad would sync up. But now it seems to be about how the developers can get more money out of you and I. No more sync unless you upgrade to plus. No thanks. Time to look elsewhere.
Great, but missing my favorite feature
Love Clear, but I want to see the invisible back button come back. It set the app apart from others, and is much better than swiping or using the glass buttons.
A perfect app
Does exactly what I want - makes and organizes lists. Nothing fancy, no extra bells & whistles, just reliable and simple and easy to use. I’ve been using this for years and am very happy with it.
Missing support for shortcuts
No undo edits and no iOS shortcuts integration
Amazing but could be supreme
Personalized/niche gripes but the review thing is annoying so here’s your 4 stars. More detailed overt settings, individualized settings/options per entry{subtext/highlight/bullets}, locations active per entry{but keep it simple), optional threading/trees hidden or not. Keeping it simple and intuitive should remain the focus though.
Paid for the App, Now Constantly Interrupted for Subscription
I paid for this application, participated in beta testing of the updated release, had it lose all my data multiple times, and now get bugged to leave a review or start a monthly subscription every time I open it. Not even a loyalty upgrade for paying customers. Lame.

Consistently nuke features for Pro
This app used to be great but has now turned into a crippled shell of itself requiring you to purchase Pro for things that were included in the original paid version of the app. Not syncing across devices is crazy. Find a different list app.

Super glitchy and laggy after update
The recent app update has caused it to be unresponsive, laggy, and difficult to use easily. Was great before.
List items disappear
I've been using this app for years. But recently many list items simply don't save, while some do. Very buggy...

Devs keep ruining a perfect app.
Before you download this app you should know that more than half of the features they’ve now locked behind a subscription paywall used to be completely free. I loved Clear and used it daily for a long time to help organize my life, but the developers kept changing small things and trying to iterate one what was a near-perfect app already and it muddied up the experience. The subscription is the last sign that the developers don’t care about making a beautiful and simple app, because they already made one. Instead they want an app they can keep iterating on past the point of usefulness in hopes of making more money of its users. Clear used to be better, for free. Don’t spend your money here. UPDATE JUNE 2026: Can’t believe it somehow got worse but the developer of this app has sunk even lower into their greed and removed any option to support them with one-time purchases for themes. Now most customizations have been removed from their shop and “will be available through other means with a Pro subscription” in the future. Shutting down single time paid personalization options in an effort to push towards the already greedy and unnecessary subscription is a new low. UPDATE JULY 2026: Another terrible update. Removing easy and intuitive navigation features that have been a part of this app for years in favor of clunky and interruptive buttons and gestures, not to mention several customization options including themes, fonts, and icons that I previously purchased, unlocked via the rewards system, and had access to as a legacy user have now been taken away from me and locked behind a pro subscription. I’ve loved this app but please stay far, far away from it. It’s a shell of what it used to be, all changed in the name of monetization and “innovation.”
Okay
Good app but does not save what you typed until you click somewhere else. I don’t know how many times I’ve lost important notes because of this.
Stop making it worse
Took a perfectly functional app and complicated it. Easy to hit something and then you get “all the new ideas”, but can’t get back to your list. I use this to remind me what I need to get done. But now, I can’t get back to my simple list. I need to find an app that is less frustrating.

Needs ability to sync across iOS devises
Great list app
Have used this for years and love it. Makes lists really easy. Use it for waiters all the time and they are always so gagged about how easy it is to take an order from it.
Constant updates to break ease of use
I've been using Clear for well over a decade. It's my only To-Do list app. The past several years the app has had constant updates that take a nice simpler perfect app and break what was working. This last update that fundamentally changes the way you interact with the app and the muscle memory is the final straw. I've always disliked the subscription model and Clear Pro became what I feared. Pulling features and putting them behind paywalls, then justifying the subscription with constant rearrangement updates that just make the experience worse. Thanks for the great early years, but I'm done with this app and the constant bad updates.
New reminders is weird
I love the app in general, but the reminder changes in the latest version have a very tiny “hit box” and it’s not clear at all how to add them.
The best keeps getting better
As someone who’s been with Clear from the beginning, and as someone who’s given other list apps a try over the years, I always find them inferior to Clear. It’s intuitive interface still has one of the smartest mashups I’ve ever seen of a brilliantly simple UI and gesture controls that come so naturally that you already know how to use the app before you get your hands on it. Clear was one of the first apps to define the very kind of experiences that touchscreen devices were invented for. If you’re wondering if the Pro subscription is worth it: You bet it is! I despise the entire notion of subscribing to software and generally avoid it like the plague. But Clear Pro is the one app I subscribe to gladly, because the enhancements offered by Pro are indispensable. But the developers’ commitment to always improving the app and adding new features is what makes the subscription truly worth it. Now… If they’d just give us the ability to create our own color schemes, I’d call it the perfect app! 😎 But even without, it’s still the best list app ever. I’m all in for Clear, and hats off to the developers! PS: the devs behind Clear, Impending Inc, are truly a good group of guys. The kind of people we as consumers should rally behind. I’ve interacted with them on multiple occasions and they’ve always been kind, jovial, and genuinely helpful. Seriously: support them if you can. They deserve it.
No reminder function
Used to be a brilliant app but the reminder function has disappeared. Docs say keep swiping right but all I get is the green tick, don’t see the reminder option Please bring back this functionality.

Edit: it's not exactly called out in a setting, but latest update does support this. Maybe disabling the buttons brings this feature back. Idk, but I'm happy it's back. Thank you Can you make it a setting? This was much nicer than needing to swipe. There's the back button now, but I'll hide those in settings
Where is my "Night Owl Classic"??!
How can you lock content behind a paid Pro subscription after users have already earned it? I was genuinely shocked when I opened the app and found that my favorite color scheme (the one I unlocked through achievements) is now only available with a paid subscription, and it had been replaced with the default one. How is that even acceptable? Have you completely lost your minds? I put up with the constant, intrusive pop-ups advertising your subscription, but this is just plain ridiculous!
Almost brilliant
Great app, takes some time to get into how to use it - habits to learn unlearn - but I like the gestures. My wish list; - undo button. Far too easy to delete an entry by mistake, there should be a way to retrieve those - go back a step/ menu by swiping from left to right, e.g. from side of screen. Pinching doesn’t feel intuitive to go back in our age, and the back button seems weird to aim for.. Do these and you have a friend for life 😊
Cloud synch now a paid option
This is a good app, but for me the best feature was its synching on iPad and iPhones. The way I see it the developers first screwed that feature up, and the re-introduced it as a subscription option. Even though as a ’legacy’ paid user I am told old features would remain available. Just a little disappointed… the developers should remember they built this app on the support of early purchasers like me and others, who they have now forgotten.
Bring back email list!
This is one of the best features and why my husband and I originally got Clear. Now after the update we’re unable to share our lists with each other other than a screen cap, which is useless. Otherwise everything else works great.

ive used this app since i think around when it came out, and was perhaps featured in inc magazine or similar. it’s fun, useful, a bright spot in my day- still here after all of these years
Already Paid Once
Bought this app years ago with the understanding: pay once, use forever. Solid deal. Good basic app. Not a charity, so fine. Then they pivoted to "yearly subscription" and offered me a meesly discount on the price I already paid. As if I should be grateful to rent software I own. Original purchase was a down payment on an open-ended rental I never agreed to. If you're considering it: the app works fine. But know what you're signing up for…it’s far from "clear" or transparent. 👎🏻
Great app. Needs a search tool
Great app. Easy to use. My go to to do list app now. I just wish I had a search feature. Also wish it had a feature you can write a list within a to do list item after the main menu of your lists.
Best list making app out there once, now just another subscription beggar.
Edit: The developers have locked all previously available basic features behind a monthly subscription and plastered adds for it everywhere. What a waste.... Using it for anything list related. Groceries, Reminders, To-do's, luggage checklist, Games to play on Steam Deck, Obscure Anime, Recipes and so on. I know i can just make lists in Notes but Notes does not have the gestures, ease of use or the stylish look. This is just so much faster and natural feeling to use. Been a fan of Clear since whatever version was available for iPhone 4. I'm really glad they released a modern version. Shame they removed the 3D touch functionality but hey ho.
I don't get it
I don't understand why a tasks app needs to buckle under it's own unnecessary weight and take up 1GB of storage. Great app otherwise; although making different colour customisation an unlock-able feature feels as intuitive as having to unlock one of the wheels on your car.
The best
I’ve had this app since the early days and I truly use it every single day multiple times. So easy to organize my thoughts/lists/tasks, not overly complicated at all but still well thought out and so so useful . I just love the practical simplicity, it’s a perfect app.
So Disappointing!!
I wanted this to work so badly. Love the simplicity and the bold colors. After creating my first list, I could never access the settings again! Tapping at the bottom of the screen, pinching inward, nothing worked. Finally deleted my list in hopes that it would take me back to beginning…nope. Great idea but not functional. And I’m using the latest iOS updated 4/23/26.

Great app now it’s been updated to run properly on the latest iOS, however please bring back adding more to the list by pulling down directly from your last input, rather than having to click off which takes extra time. Also, it would be great to have a “recycle bin” for deleted items that are automatically removed after 7 days. It’s far to easy to delete something important by accident then it’s gone forever! Maybe even an undo button so you can restore things if needed? It would also be great to add pictures & photos to your notes. That would truly make this app a 5 star! ⭐️ Thanks developers for a great app!
Sluggish and laggy
Used to love this app but after the last couple of updates it's become super slow and laggy which is really irritating.

Love Clear!
I’ve used for YEARS and have tried sooooo many todo apps but have always come back to Clear as it’s just soooo easy for everyday tasks. They really broke the mold on the interface design and keep adding features. Take the time to learn additional gestures to use it the most effectively. I use another app for more complex projects. The only warning as is it’s so easy you can delete items accidentally. I have three main list groups - todos, errands, info. Errands lists include a running list of items to get at grocery store, Lowe’s/Home Depot…. for the next time I’m there. Info might be lists for books or movies I want to read/watch.
Paid App Purchased -> Now Subscription! FRAUD!
Update Jan 22: You can create a new version as new app, but you killed this app which was PAID initially and I’ve purchased it 5+ years ago, but now you asking money for it again!!???. I hope someone can do a class lawsuit about this. At least now I’ll report this to Apple. There’s is a specific rules in Developer Guidelines - which you already broke!! Paid app should be paid forever, you can’t change it model to subscription and remove features from paid users! That’s a shame! I hope you will be banned for this your developer account will be banned! Also, All of my unlocked before themes - are gone, and icons are gone! —— I’ve purchased this app a long time ago, when it was paid version 1.0 and now many features just gone and require subscription! Widgets are not working now for me. I’ll report this to Apple as this is like a scam or so.
I had high hopes.
This is a nice and unique little app. It takes a bit to get used to the gestures but when you do, it makes sense and is easy to use. One big stumbling block for me is that it doesn’t sync with iCloud. This was removed for some technical reason. I constantly switch between iPad and iPhone so unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me. If you just use one device all the time this is not an issue. I like what they’ve done but it just doesn’t work for me. Thanks to dev for replying and explaining. Look forward to the day that sync is available.

Would dive been nice if it could sync across devices.
It is too bad there is no account so it can sync across devices. It's a bit awkward to have to make a list on my iPhone, but not have it on my iPad, and if I want it to see in both places I need to make the list twice and cancel tasks twice (on each device)

Yet another app falls prey to a subscription model
Needlessly added subscriptions as a means to nickel and dime functionality like widgets. It’s ok to charge one time fees for things like that which require 0 server interaction. Why does this need to be a subscription? Used to like clear for the style, but this move switched me to Reminders. Permanently. Nothing more frustrating than updating an app to see it now has new ways to charge you money guised as a ‘refresh’ when it could’ve easily just been an update. I wish more apps just cost money again instead of these weird freemium / in app subscription models that make no sense.
Data lost after update
Looks like I lost all my data and some rewards (TestFlight icon) after 2.0 update. After reinstalling the app, lost more collectibles.
Welcome back (to disappointment)
We don’t need a macOS app now that iOS apps are installable on macOS, but this is weirdly not available on the macOS store under iOS apps. And without the iCloud sync - it’s almost unusable. Sad, because was a massive fan of v1 and been waiting years for it to be updated for the modern world.
Problems with new update
New version is slower, doesn’t always load up, enter button doesn’t just save the task it adds a new task now. Why did you need to rewrite this app? It feels like the same just broken now
