Great task app. Easy to learn and comprehensive. I’ve tried dozens of tasks apps and this is the best by far!
Strong privacy concerns!
This app advertises proudly that it has no ads. It’s also cheaper than competitors. That made me wonder how they earn a profit, until I launched this simple to do app and discovered you can’t do anything until you give this company full access to your calendar and your reminders. You will receive an error and be unable to use and native calendar, reminder, or to do function of this app unless you give them permission to see ALL of your personal data. Absolutely not! I’m staying as far away from this app and this company as possible.
does what I need, and keeps improving
This app does what I want, is frequently updated with fixes and new features, is less expensive than other to-do apps, is flexible to handle either complex filtering or subtasks or just simple lists when you need them, allows me to continue using the native Reminders app for sharing lists, and has options to buy all features once, to support with a subscription, or to just support in single payments when you want. (Which means those of us with the means to support can opt in, and those who can’t afford an ongoing subscription are still able to access all features for a one-time payment.)
A bit misleading
After downloading the GoodTask app, I found the wording to be a bit sneaky for two options of offering a free trial period for 14 days or signing up to the subscription which did not mention the price.

Only critical suggestion is eliminate the date wheel. Takes too long and is difficult to scroll to where you want to be. Just put up a monthly calendar that you can easily advance and pick a date from.

Every time I mark something done, you put it back. What's the point?
Great app but..
Been using since fall of 2025. App was excellent, worthy of 5 star review. Recently, performance issues have been popping up while on latest iphone air, ios updated, app fully updated. The lag has been getting really bad. I’ve tried deleting old tasks, ensuring secrets in advanced features are not turned on… Hoping next update will fix. If they fix performance, 5 star app for sure.
Never seen an app show a paywall so many times
It never used to be like this when I tried it a few years ago. It used to be everything Apple Reminders should be. It used to have a useful free tier and a compelling paid tier. Now it shoves a paywall down your throat for almost every action. It’s actually comical. Also as others have mentioned: the UI is incredibly confusing. I get the value of a power user tool but some serious UX work needs to be done.
Stops alerting me
It just stops alerting me for no reason. I can’t figure out why

Has crashed every time last two weeks
Used to love this app now hate it with a passion. App is worthless has crashed every single time I try to use it for the last two weeks. Have made my comments known before with no help from devekoper
Good app. Amazingly useful. But…
It’s got so many features as to be overwhelming in its complexity. It’s got so many options, that figuring out how to make it do what you want it to do is sometimes extremely difficult. It could use major improvement and how you create filters. If you want to create a filter that has “AND” and “OR” logic in it, be prepared to spend a lot of time trying things out, because the app’s filter logic is schizophrenic.
No hours
I don’t understand why the app allows you to make smart lists for days but not hours. I don’t need to see what’s happening late tonight when I’m getting through work stuff in the morning.
Getting pretty bad.
I used to love GoodTask but over the last few months it’s become unstable to the point of me not trusting it much anymore, and considering alternatives. Completing as task will sometimes complete or delete other tasks. Sometimes they’ll show back up. The lag it getting awful. Just a lot of little things. A real shame because it used to be the absolute crème of the crop

Thought that one purchase would enable access for both the ios and mac apps. However, you have to pay separately.
You can make it as complex or as simple as you’d like
I’ve been trying this out the last few days. I had a few issues setting up a replica of Linear sprints (work stuff) but for personal tasks. Developer is unbelievably responsive and helpful. Completely solved my issue. It requires some patience, but is a remarkably powerful tool. Considering it’s essentially a visual layer over your iOS reminders, it’s remarkable. I love that they don’t read your data. E2E encryption on iOS reminders, and therefore here as well. Very fairly priced. Thank you. Looking forward to a bit of polish on the configuration logic over the next year.

Sounded promising, but I can’t really make head nor tail of it unfortunately. Clunky English and overly complicated navigation.
Great but…
For the most part the app does what I want and the customization is good, BUT I open the app from the widget almost exclusively… the first time I do this, it’s fine. The second time, it’s frozen. I have to close out and reopen GoodTask. Now if I reopen using the widget, the first time it’s fine, and after that it’s frozen. Please fix. Thank you.

App demands access to Reminders—Fail
Read good things about this app. Wanted to try it out. Unfortunately, the app insists that you change your Privacy settings and give it access to Reminders! No way! It will not even let you create a single task without doing that. Is it an app or an extension of Reminders? Come on, developers! Let us test your app and explore its features without having to give it access to another app! In years of exploring and using ToDo-type apps, this is the first AND only one that insisted on access to another app.
Confusing As Can Be...
Let me start by saying that I really, really want to like this app!! Unfortunately the copius amount of options are so far past the point of "too much" that it's actually almost laughable. And even if the number of options were bearable, the number of them that contain little to no detail and use extremely confusing verbiage would only serve to send it even further over the edge. Settings that seem pretty vastly unrelated often are found within the same menus. Practically identical verbiage is used in multiple distinct settings areas that should be entirely separate. The overall layout of menus inside of menus with more menus below is crazy, and the entire thing is so haphazardly arranged and thought out it's nauseating. It's so unfortunate because it turns using the app from something like a breath of fresh air into an unbearable chore. I'm willing to accept that I'm in the minority here given all the other reviews, hence the additional couple stars, but as someone who normally insists on having additional options this is the absolute other end of the spectrum - total option overload to the point where the only way to fix would be to nuke the entire settings menu and redesign from the ground up. This app is probably great for the calendar integrating, due date chasing, tasks power user....and absolutely MASSIVE props to the dev for making (keeping??) one-time purchases an option (in fact I'll actually add another star just for that alone!) but if you're looking for something more run of the mill that doesn't require an absolutely absurd amount of digging through settings and tweak to configure then this unfortunately isn't it.
Such a letdown!
I really wanted to like this app but had to delete it in frustration. It is clunky and difficult to use. The star button is confusing - that is where the add task button should be and I kept pressing it by accident. Awful alert sounds, not one option that isn’t abrasive and hideous. Natural language doesn’t work properly. Had high hopes but very disappointed.
So close
I ended up here because of the limitations of Reminders’ smart lists. At first look, it seemed great even if the UI was a little baffling. I can create widgets with all sorts of complex filters! Unfortunately, I then tried to add a task. The one thing Reminders does quite well is natural language processing for adding times and dates to tasks. That isn’t possible here and is a dealbreaker for me. The task creation screen has all sorts of boxes you can click on that run all sorts of macros. I’ve no idea what most of them are for. I just want to be able to type “Do thing 9:00” and have it work.

I bought this app once and they are charging again to all the people who wonder why it stopped working. I don’t mind paying because they are great with updates but a reminder app that stops working without notifying users is an issue. Let people know they need to pay again!
Does a great job with adding much needed features while using the default reminders database
Apple reminders is limited in some ways even though it has been getting better and better with each IOS release. This application uses the same reminders database but adds on layers and layers of customizations. That is good and bad as I feel at times I get overwhelmed within application with the overloaded amount of options. There is a 47 page manual on the use of application. If you have time to learn and understand all parameters of application then I feel you will get the best use and functionality out of it. For those that are just looking for a few tweaks to reminders this might be overkill and more confusing. With 3rd party reminder applications it’s going to be a challenge with trying to stay relevant with how much better Apple reminders has gotten and still try to keep the simplicity that people need.
Not a fan of the UI
I’m a product designer and I still found it difficult to use the UI of this app. Icons are not intuitive and I found myself clicking everywhere while trying to guess what things mean. The learning curve is just too steep for something that should be really easy. Uninstalled.

Greedy paywall
I understand the requirement for the dev(s) to monetize but paywalling of the app including the settings without and free trial is ridiculous. How do I know if the app is suitable for me when most features apart from “Lists” are paywalled without a trial?
Notifications failed with iOS 13.5.1
A great app as far as it goes. The combination of Calendar events and Tasks is excellent. Sadly no way to have Tasks managed on both iPhone and Windows desktop. Apple iCloud webpage (Reminders) totally inadequate, tasks can only be viewed there, not created or edited. No, I will not move to a Mac, before you ask. App icon badges and notifications stopped working since upgrade to iOS 13.5.1. I'll give it another couple of weeks before looking at alternatives
Slow and unstable
I love the features of this app but the constant freezing, crashing and lag make this app unusable for me. I suspect the problem lies with syncing with Apple Reminders of which the developer seems to have little control. It’s unfortunate that he can’t make this app run independently of Reminders, like many other reminder/to-do apps work. If he’s able to fix the bugs in the future I’ll consider returning but the current version is just too frustrating to use.

Great app and NO privacy concern here
When I saw a review indicating a privacy concern it was obvious some people may not understand how this app works. Unlike most todo apps, this one provides a new interface to access your Apple Reminders. The whole point is to use the system Apple has set up and add more capability. There is a nice task manager called Things. It works well but doesn’t have location based reminders like Apple Reminders. Since Goodtask works WITH Apple Reminders data you get all the features already there including location based reminders. You’re also not storing your data on some third party server like many other task managers due. Another advantage is there is less chance of obsolescence. If a program like Things goes away I have no access to my data. If the developer of Goodtask stops development all your tasks are still in Apple Reminders.

Essential!
Coming from Android, I love how Apple has the reminder app and how it integrates with the calendar. Unfortunately, the widgets are useless. I was looking for a reminder widget, but this is so much more. It shows the reminders AND the calendar events. It integrates with Apple’s data so there is no need to set up a special account. I love my games, but this is my favorite app. It is a one stop shop for keeping me organized and on time.
Keeps removing lists from my smart list
I have a specific smart list that I have selected “Specific (include)” Reminders, Bills, & Shared leaving only my MISC list excluded. It keeps automatically removing my Bills list therefore I have to keep manually adding it back. Please fix asap!
A great find. Underrated.
Why have I bypassed this app for so long? I wish I started using it are you long time ago through my quest to find a wonder list replacement. So many other systems I’ve used from the incredibly complex to those that just don’t offer enough. I thought this would just be an extension of the native reminders at which it is in essence but because the customisation and the ability to create such great smart this with so many options it turns it into a mini powerhouse of an app. Seriously give this a try. Some suggestions. Folders light wonder list but I know this is a feature many other apps don’t have either. Also make the notifications work. I don’t know why but they don’t own any of my apps and I’ve tried everything. But because it sinks with the native app I guess it doesn’t matter because those work instead.

I find that the app is acting up lately— list items can’t be entered, the whole list disappears and/or is slow to update.
OK, but.....
.... while it works well, it does not update the Apple Watch complication. Shame, otherwise it would be perfect.

Trial too limiting
In app purchase really means most of the app is disabled. Everything you tap pops up a bag window to purchase cannot even adjust settings. It says it is free for 14 days (another curious interpretation of in-app purchases). I don’t wait an uninstalled.
Excellent
Way better than apples reminders app. Much more useful and a great user interface. Being able to SIRI reminders, and use this app to manage is awesome. Full 5 stars when better notification sounds are available.
Great in the app, but terrible outside it
GoodTask is a really well featured add on to reminders. It uses the super reliable built in sync of reminders to add a litany of new amazing features. Unfortunately once you leave the app it’s virtually useless. The Watch corner complication shows only the number of tasks you need to do (thanks, I’ll pass on extra stress in my life). The notification gives you the option to snooze or complete, and that’s all. And the force touch only gives options for new task, no list specific creation. So if you GoodTask is an incredible app that adds all of the missing features on top of reminders, at the cost of every other interaction method.
Watch calendar needs to update
Lovely app that is more visually pleasing than the native IOS calendar and Reminders, but the top thing on the calendar is that that shows up as the complication on the Apple Watch. This needs to tick over during the day so that the next thing comes up on the watch.
