Best Grocery App!
What’s not to love? One time purchase, no subscription, no data collection. It just works, and it’s easy for my wife and I to collaborate on the shared grocery list across our phones. A+++ recommendation.
No longer works
Favorite app that no longer works! It freezes every time you go to add an item. Super disappointing
Pretty Good, With One Pet Peeve
This app does a nice job of synchronizing a shopping list across family devices, and has a decent workflow during the shopping itself. Its way of remembering the purchase order of items is handy: not always perfect, but it improves with each trip! It is the app we use in the household for our shopping lists. The Pet Peeve: The App Insists On Capitalizing Every Word All The Time On Ios, Just Like This Paragraph. This Is Incredibly Annoying. It’s Especially Annoying In The Units Field, Where Capital Letters Can Actually Change The Meaning Of Units. On Macos, It At Least Only Auto-Capitalizes The First Word, But Still…. My Dear Fellow Developer, Most Of Us Write Our Shopping Lists In _all lowercase_ Except For Brand Names; Almost None Of Us Want Every Word Capitalized. Please Give Us A Setting To Change The Capitalization Modes Of Input Fields. And Please Show Completion Suggestions Using The Capitalization With Which They Were Originally Entered, So That I See “PB pretzels” instead of “Pb Pretzels.” Two much more minor UI complaints: 1. On iOS, it's too easy to accidentally lose an item by clicking / tapping outside the entry area. Data loss should always come with a warning / confirmation. 2. The blank space above “unsorted items” is large enough that it can seem like the list is already scrolled all the way to the bottom before reaching them. On two separate occasions, I have completely missed the unsorted items during a shopping trip! All that said, this is our go-to shopping app, and we make heavy use of it. If there’s a better one, we haven’t found it.
Use to be great, only ok now
I really only use this app for event meal planning on shopping. What loved about it was I would tell it what recipes I want to cook, check off things I already have, and it would make one clean list. I had smart Clean Up on and I am still getting 6 different “egg” list items. I try to rename them with count to see if then it would combine and instead the item just vanished. I am using it for one more event as I am too close to the food shopping to find a new one but I will be changing soon.
Needs work
I’m not purchasing premium on this app until it improves the online shopping integration feature. I can never get it to connect to walmart, HEB, or Aldi. I’m pretty tech savvy and so this shouldn’t be an issue…I’m tired of messing with it. Basically, without that integration, the only major thing it does that’s helpful is improve the sorting on your reminders grocery list
The ULTIMATE grocery app!!!
This app has it ALL for your grocery shopping and inventory control needs! Even hasitseful recipes and lets you keep track of the items yltodaychase most often. I especially love how you can create a list based upon what is in each grocery store aisle in order to create the most efficient shopping experience possible. The only drawback is that the app might be a little intimidating because there’s so much to offer and learn…one may NEVER fully appreciate or use all of its benefits. But its DEFINITELY one of the BEST grocery apps available ltoday!
Grocery stopped opening
I used grocery for 4 years and this year the app has stopped working. It won’t open at all and now I can’t access my recipes. I’ll update this review when the bug is fixed.

Has some good points but
It’s just far too complicated to use. The nonsense with sorting is totally needless and who knows what it’s trying to do. Household sync doesn’t work at all on our phones and the explanations in help are long-winded and confusion. I really don’t care, I just want to share lists. It should just work and it doesn’t. On a single phone and ignoring the over-bloated sorting, it’s fine but there are hundreds of list apps that work for that purpose.
Broken after latest update
This was a great app but after the latest update it no longer will allow me to update my list. Please fix

i love how there’s not really a learning curve and i can just start it off with close to zero understanding and effort to maintain the app i really enjoy how i can understand the app and the way it works for me as a beginner too
Unusable
This app needs MUCH more attention. The creators behind this app are clearly not actually using this app. It’s such a mess honestly. I thought it would be as simple as Notes, just make a list. All I wanted was to be able to add prices, then get a total. I thought this app would do just that. But no, it’s beyond confusing. “What’s in stock/out of stock” that feature makes no sense. I just want to go thro a mastery list & add what I need for the day. If you don’t need something on your list, you can select it but it doesn’t go awhile, so you still see while shopping. Or you have to remove it from the list & then whatever the inventory feature does with it, is confusing. I don’t need a damn inventory keeping track, it has no idea what I’ve used through the week or not. It’s assuming. I could go on, but I’ll stop here. Someone needs to actually use this app not just create it & put it out there for others to figure out what’s wrong with it. Don’t waste your time with this app.
Works decently
I downloaded this because my previous app was only available for android. It’s okay, but now it doesn’t give me a total amount for what’s on my list. It would be great if it did and maybe (as my precious app did) a total for what’s checked off ie: in my cart and for what’s left to be checked off. All in all it’s better than the other apps I tried, but nothing compares to the Mighty grocery app I had
It could have been good
There is a bug where the total doesn’t update no matter what you put on the list. Tried to put in a ticket inside the app. Wanted screenshots, but any time I added one, it put me back out of the ticket and I lost my work. Explained that and tried to submit. It wouldn’t submit. Just emailed the email that was on the ticket explaining all of that including adding a screenshot and I haven’t heard anything. I decided to go ahead and purchase it because it did have everything but the forever plan wasn’t in the Apple subscription plan. Emailed the developer about that and no response. If he won’t reply to “I want to pay you” good luck ton any other suppprt.. I’m very disappointed too. I wanted it.
Useful app but list sharing is broken
The app is useful to create various shopping lists but list sharing doesn’t work. Share link between two users that have the same app should properly export and import the items under the same store name but this doesn’t work. Also for some reason so items have %7C at the end of the line.

this app is so slow for some reason… adding a item to your grocery list is slow. Waiting for item suggestions is slow. selecting a suggestion is slow. etc. why?? this app is so basic like what is going on to make it so slow??
Great App, BUT
Love this app and my husband and I use it whenever we shop. It’s so nice that he can see what I’ve added to the list and check things off if he’s the one that grabs them. I’ve tried multiple grocery apps over the years and this is my favorite. I have tried for a very long time to find a way to contact the developer though, and I can’t, so that’s my reason for removing a star. I wish there was some type of customer service email. It just sends me to Twitter. The app needs another feature. We should be able to subdivide the grocery lists for each store. When I am getting low on something but not out yet, I like to add it to my list and make a note that I don’t need it unless it’s on sale, so in general just items that I add to a specific store’s list because I might want them at some point, but don’t necessarily need them now. I am praying for an update where I can have a list for a specific store where I can divide it in two, one subdivision for things I absolutely need to get at the store on the next trip, and one for things that aren’t “must haves” for whatever reason. Please, please allow this! I will have to search for a new app soon if I can’t get that because my full lists are getting too hard to navigate while at the store now. I pay for the app and would love this feature. Thank you!
iPhone App is Solid, Mac App is a mess
I’ve been using Grocery since release, primarily on the iPhone but occasionally on the Mac. The iPhone App works well and I’m happy with it, but the Mac app crashes constantly. It may be time to look for a different solution that works better across platforms.
Sharing Not Working
This seemed like such a great idea but unfortunately I tried multiple times to share the link with my husband and it was blank every time. I gave up trying after the 6th time. Would have been very helpful if it worked!
Great
I have been using this app on and off for years. It’s excellent! My only complaint is that if I add a note, it doesn’t transfer to inventory. Or if I add an item description, it doesn’t show as a note when it gets added to my list for repurchase. I want notes to stick. It’s not helpful if I add “air filter - 12x24x1” but the note with the size doesn’t show up and I have to go hunt it down every time.
Not user friendly
No where to find instructions
This grocery app is EVERYTHING, but…
I love having this app to use to keep track of what I need from the grocery store. It’s brilliant. However, I’ve been having issues with all of my stuff disappearing or my settings changing randomly, and it’s VERY frustrating. I had to completely remove the app from the phone (had iCloud sync on) and everywhere else, and when I redownloaded it (with iCloud sync off) it started working amazing again with no issues. Out of the blue last week, it started doing the same thing again - all of my stores disappeared with just my “Walmart” list (but it had been renamed to “Grocery”) and ALLL of my inventory disappeared. I worked so hard between my reset and this glitch to make everything work smoothly and it’s all gone again 😭 I want to live and keep using this app, but it’s so disheartening when this keeps happening to me, and I don’t know how to fix it. I would love l some guidance 😢
Developer doesn’t respond!!!
Good app but I have messaged the developer a couple of times now regarding an issue with the widget and still no response. When I buy a lifetime subscription I expect to at least have an acknowledgment to a message.
Unusable amount of lag
The app is extremely laggy and slow to use for me, making it nearly unusable, I’m glad I did not pay for it and waste my money, If you have an older phone, this app is not for you. Upside, it doesn’t collect your data. If it is not slow on your phone, this may be worth looking in to.
Exactly what a shopping app should be
I have downloaded and used multiple grocery list apps over the last few years trying to get away from using my notes on my phone. This app is such a treat. And I can use it for other stores that I frequently use. I just use the free version however I am flirting with downloading the premium to start using the other options. I would definitely recommend this to anyone out there looking for that perfect shopping app.
Unusable
There must have been an update because in the last week or two this app crashes constantly and is basically unusable. I have switched to using my Notes app for my grocery list until this is resolved. Very disappointed.
Almost Perfect
Functionality is pretty smooth. Setup takes a process because you need to integrate it with the backend of the Reminders app, which I’m sure is more an issue with Apple iCloud than the app developer. Two glaring needs, though, is this: 1) There needs to be a way to see ALL stores’ items at once so you can plan your multi-errand day without having to open every store separately. 2) Each store needs a different color so you can see at a glance which items are in which store. More than once, I thought I was looking at my Whole Foods store, but was actually in my Walmart store. A different color for each store will help differentiate the lists. Lastly, I would have separated my rating from my feedback if I could have given this feedback directly to the developer, but I couldn’t find a “feedback” link anywhere in the app or the App Store.
Doesn’t work after update
Used to be handy, but since the update, the app crashes whenever you try to select an item on your grocery list. Please fix and update. Thanks!
Recent iOS update broke it
This app needs reminders permission, but there is no way to grant this permission in the current iOS.

Comes in handy all of the time, i can do grocery shopping 5-10 minutes faster thanks to it.
Broken?
Was very happy with this app - bought the paid version so I could have it on my phone and computer and it worked great until now. For the last 24 hours the app WILL NOT open on my phone. Only way to get help is to go to Twitter? There’s no update available for the app so… did I just waste my money?
Good grocery shopping app
Having used the app for 3 plus years now, still think it’s almost perfect as a shopping list. I don’t need or want the other things it does so have never used those “features”. It’s one of those apps that I wish stuck to what it first did and left it at that. Only real complaint is the watch version won’t sync anymore. It broke a couple of years ago. Tried all their troubleshooting steps. It might sync once then will break again.
Simple list management but expensive for what it is
Seems ok. Not amazing. But ok. I do not think it is a subscription product or worth the £29 forever tag. Also not clear if I would need to pay £29 per person in household in which case the developer has unrealistic expectations.
Awful new design
In my over 40 years in the computer industry, I've rarely seen a worse update to an app as the latest one for this app. It has become almost useless for me. Too few items on the screen. No way to add an item by Bar Code. When adding an item manually, or editing and item, you can only add notes. You cannot add quantity or price. In fact, there does not appear to be a way to add quantity or price. The display does not show the total of all items. Each item does not show total of price x quantity. Data for an item is repeated in the main display thus wasting space. Why would a developer put out such an awful update?
Incredible, groundbreaking
The BEST. BEST! Grocery list utility. Ever. It has a growing list of little features that I have never seen in any other grocery list utility app or general list app or anything. Examples: price tracking, bar code scanning, inventory management, aisle (catergory) editing, different lists for different grocery stores, the BEST meal planning/ recipe utility (probably half the heft of the app), unit editing per item (1 "5lb bag" of rice vs 1 bag of rice), a notes line for each item, AND IT GOES ON! I also cannot say enough good about the creator of this app; the best I can do is to assure you that since I bought this app 4 or 5 years ago, I have seen nothing but evidence of their devotion and passion for this app. Absolute gem. Love it. Can't recommend it enough.
Randomly Deleting Lists
Spent an hour making my grocery list and when I opened it at the store it had deleted my whole list

Complicated!
FOR EXAMPLE... I need 2 chicken breasts for one meal, and 3 for another type of meal. But your inventory does not keep track of the number of any items. So if I make the first meal and select that I’ve used chicken, it will delete it from my inventory and tell me to buy more, when I’ve got 3 Breasts left for the next meal, before I need to buy more. The same for rice for example, it will assume I’ve used an entire bag of rice and tell me to buy another bag, as it doesn’t know how much I’ve used...
This app is really only as good as your comprehension of the information displayed
I wish this app was categorized as Shopping & Food rather than Productivity. This is a new edit, removing two stars because such a simple thing drives us crazy: it is WAY TOO EASY to accidentally delete items! All you have to do is swipe left and whoops it's gone, whatever it was that you needed! Oh, I guess that was the first thing I said in my original review: One improvement I would like right away: option to require confirmation to delete items! It is too easy to accidentally swipe/delete an item, and I don't want to lose any context to items such as price history or more. I just started using this app, so I have yet to see how it handles historical pricing, but something would be better than the last app I had been using. I noticed a reviewer gave only four starts because they thought it was tedious to use multiple stores/lists... actually, it's not, you just don't have the app set up correctly for your preferences. This app is amazing because the interface is quite customizable, meaning you can easily search through all lists and see what store an item is in. I'll update this review later. I would recommend the Subscription for this app as this developer needs lots of support for such a high quality app. I love love LOVE that a reasonable $30 one-time purchase option is available. Much respect to the developer!
Great App, wish Inventory was more Customizable
I’ve been using this app with the lifetime plan and have been loving it for the majority of the time (there was a small bit of time where loading it up would take forever and it would crash a lot, but an update later took care of that and it works smoothly now). The extra 1 time cost is definitely worth it and I’d recommend it to anyone. The App certainly does have a learning curve especially when it comes to sharing with family, but once you get used to syncing Reminders and the Grocery App, it becomes much easier. Being able to keep track of Groceries across multiple stores and automatically syncing with others is great. Being able to keep recipes, also sync them with others, AND also have the ability to mealplan and add ingredients automatically to the Grocery Lists is also super handy and useful. The 1 spot I wish would be improved is the Inventory section which I find myself hardly ever using. In all honesty, setting an expiration time for items is useful, but hard to predict. Honestly I think the thing that would make this section more useful is if we had the ability to organize it into separate categories, such as Leftovers, Fridge, Pantry, Laundry, etc… this way it would be easier to look for and keep track of specific items or say even keep track of items for a specific room. Honestly I would even be willing to pay an additional 1-time upgrade fee for this feature… so if the Devs are reading, please make this a reality!

Great App, Could Use a Couple Tweaks
My husband and I use this app religiously for grocery lists at multiple stores and love it! I highly recommend it. One glitch needing fixing: when you assign an item to an isle, you have to do it twice EVERY time in order for it to take. It’s incredibly annoying and time consuming. I also think it’d be incredibly helpful if you could assign a picture to an item and somehow see it when you click on it. I can’t count how many times I could have used that when sending the hubs to the store and needing something random, but very specific!
Decent app, but pricing model is crazy
I really like this app and was excited by the list sorting based on the layout and history of store purchases. I would happily pay a one off fee for no ads, but £29 is silly money for something so basic. If the other features such as on-line integration etc cost to maintain them I can understand a subscription model for those who use these features, but £4 a month is simple too much. These developer forget that every app seems to think it should be subscription based. They shouldn’t. Adobe photoshop can get away with it as they continually add powerful new features. Where my milk should be on a list isn’t one of them. Shame.
The macOS app is draining battery like crazy.

Just Right
I’ve been using this app with the “premium forever” subscription for about three years now, and it functions just like I think a shopping list on my phone should (a total steal in terms of value at $30). I enter the items into the store I want to shop at, the app sorts them by aisle, and when an item goes in my cart, I tap the little check box next to it on the list—Simple! And yeah, the whole thing’s customizable. I’m glad I paid for “forever,” because that’s about how long I intend to use it.

Good App, extortionate subscription
The app itself is pretty good. Some bits of it are less reliable (like it supposedly remembers your route around the store - it doesn't) but on the whole is not bad. What is VERY VERY BAD is the subscription charge. It's nothing more than a rip off. When I downloaded the app the subscription was £7.49, which seemed expensive enough, and its now a whopping £11.49 a year. For a grocery list app!!! I have far more technical apps which cost a fraction the price. I would pay that as a lifetime fee but not per annum (the lifetime fee is a horrifying £47). Developers, please rethink trying to fleece your users. You're not fooling anyone that you're not just trying to make a fat profit. It's a grocery list. Be realistic, not greedy.
Ups and downs
I love and hate this app. The docs say it’s easier to edit the files in a text editor, and that is very true. I do wish the scanning worked better, at least using the OpenFoodFacts database or something (it’s free). Many barcodes don’t scan at all (e.g. reduced price stickers grocery stores put on deli items that are close to expiring). On Mac, it’s very slow. Some of the UX is confusing, like the next shopping trip button. I thought that would forward the item to the next trip, but it closed down my list. Took me a while to figure out what happened. I like that the UI blends with the OS, and I love that it integrates with Reminders. I would appreciate the option to denote lists using tags rather than separate lists. The need for separate lists clutters my Reminders app UI. The option for integrating with Notes would be very much appreciated. Importing a recipe from the web is an awful experience to be blunt. You will HATE this app if that feature is important to you. If you use markdown a lot, use a markdown compatible text editor daily, want reminders integration, and want inventory/price/expiration tracking, then you’ll tolerate the flaws to get those things — or so I tell myself.
