Where has this app been all my life
Planning a celebration party, we were initially using a spreadsheet to log in our costs which we’d still need to send out multiple payments to various payees - until someone suggested this app which I’d personally never heard of before. We eliminated 18 additional payment transactions with the simplify debt option. The app itself however needs some work. Initially, and as a new user it is confusing to understand and quite honestly the layout is terrible as it’s not very intuitive and hard to navigate.
Make the interface better
I don’t understand why if there are multiple people putting in expenses and you hit the settle up option, it assumes you’re paying the entire sum to whoever put in the last expense. If you click on the line for a specific expense it only takes you to the detail page and you can’t pay the expense through there. Make it make sense.

Used to be great
I loved Splitwise and highly recommended it to many people traveling in groups. I travel in a group once or twice per year. The $60 annual for Pro is bonkers economics. Historically, I would pay $4.99 for 1 month to flatten currency and settle up. I am not going to pay $60 annually for 1 or 2 trips per year. You’ve list your mind. I’m in the middle of a trip and just finding out the app I loved is now all uppity and thinking I’m going to pay $60 annually for 1 or 2 trips per year. I’ll limp through my current trip and try the other company suggested by ChatGPT. Splitwise, you lost me. Get over yourselves.

Il y a deux éléments qui pourraient améliorer l’expérience. Premièrement, les statistiques de dépenses considèrent les crédits reçus comme étant une dépense supplémentaire, faussant ainsi les statistiques. Deuxièmement, il est difficile de valider si les calculs faits par Splitwise sont exacts, lors de la simplification des dépenses; pour ce faire, j’ai dû exporter vers Excel et valider le tout manuellement.
Paywall
Having a paywall to add more than one expense a day is infuriating and undermines the purpose of this app.
Good App but could be more intuitive
For example, why does it default to split equally when you are inputting the expense details? Just give the options so people can choose the right split before proceeding. Anywho, it is good, but there is room for improvement.
Love it so much!!
It’s made trips with friends and family soooo much easier. I love the different ways we can split and that you can choose who to split among. It’s honestly the best ever. I use the free version and still find it beneficial!!! I get all my friends to download it that are going on a trip with me bc it saves me from having to do the math myself.
Absolutely terrible
Do not use this app. It is absolutely terrible. UI is not good, they constantly make the math WAY harder than it needs to be, and refuses to give an audit trail even if you wanted to try to figure it out.
Super Helpful
This app is super helpful for bachelors who live in a shared apartment. Reducing the payments should be made for smaller spends… can tally over the month end and we can pay among ourselves whenever feasible… Only drawback is expense record limits on the free tier…
wrong updation of finances
Buggy application
Confusing to pay the split
The use is easy but when you get to settle the split, the payment choices are confusing and designed in a manipulated way. I chose “set a funding source” then it took me to connect my bank. But my friend then need to apply a debit card to accept the payment. What I should do is to click a small-font line said “third-party options” and just use Venmo. But the App was designed to let you set up the funding source and profit from issuing debit cards.
Perfect for group trips
Love this app - don’t have to worry about a thing when out in a group!

Not great if you need to cancel a payment. The company does not get back to you to discuss concerns. I paid a recipient only to find out she didn’t have an account linked to Splitwise. Trying to get my money back has been impossible.
Group travel made easier
Splitwise is a great group tool to track and share costs
Disappointed
I was using this app for years and it was so helpful tracking expenses for who owes who. But now it’s “you want to track who owes you $12? That’ll be $60.” Are you serious. I’m deleting this app and using a different, free one. Thanks.
Simplify Group Debts
I love using Splitwise but my only criticism is that the Simplify Group Debts function should either be automatic and not optional or at least toggled on as a default and you have to opt out not to use it.
Why AMD?
It was a fine app in the past, now you have to pay for it, and when I did the only button it guided me to for “settling up” switched all the conversions to AMD? We’re in Japan, how and why would that make sense? Then, there’s no way to simply revert or switch it back to yen without ruining the conversion. Slightly disappointed.

I can’t see how much pro is. I don’t want to start another free trial Edit: followed instructions as per reply. On this “get splitwise pro page I have the options Start your free trial or restore purchases. Rip. However going through a website does show this

No Venmo?
I don’t want to transfer my bank and personal details to another app. Where is the Venmo integration that is widely mentioned for splitwise
Super useful
I use Splitwise for mates weekends away, and also (to be honest) for sharing family expenses due to my marriage separation. It just keeps things transparent and I clear record. One item that would improve would be the screen showing a running balance.
Loyal user - app could be better
I love splitwise. It helps me manage the transactions between friends and reminder very easily. I feel the app would be perfect if integrations like Zelle or Cash App would also be available. Currently it only supports Venmo. Which is great, but can be restricting for some users who don’t prefer to use a certain application. Being a payment platform agnostic should be the number one goal for Splitwise moving forward.

Has a daily limit on how many expenses you can add which is silly

At first Spliwise didn’t charged, but now it does if you want multiple transactions insertion

Not seamless and does not show clear balances. It also takes it upon itself to include others not originally included in the expense.
Reduced features
Splitwise free have reduced the number of transactions per day to a mere 4, which has made it a lot less useful

It took me over 4 weeks to withdraw $2000 from Splitwise because they cap your weekly withdrawal limit. So essentially this app held my money hostage for a month while I had to slowly withdraw it. Ridiculous amount of ads and paywalls make it unusable.

No longer useful
I used to love Splitwise—they had heaps of features that no other competitor offered and it was the perfect way to balance expenses in larger groups. We would happily pay for Pro to easily scan and itemize receipts into our groups and settle up. Categorization and simplifications were great features. But as time went on, instead of offering new and compelling features, they paywalled nearly everything useful that gave them the advantage. Venmo groups ate Splitwise’s lunch when it comes to the basic concept of entering an expense. There is absolutely no reason why a free account should be limited on the number of expenses it can enter per day, or there to be a delay between entering expenses. Bank connections are a joke, there’s no way to connect payment options like Zelle despite being one of the most requested features for almost 10 years now. There is no trust in the app to perform its basic function and charging users for absolutely everything drove each and every one of my friends away from the app. I wish they could turn it around and be honest with themselves about the value of their subscription, but until that happens I wouldn’t recommend using the app to anyone. At least the important and itemization features are dope so you get some stars for that.

Some basic features missing
Please put this basic feature of freezing the scroll. Every-time I go in activities, scroll down, tap on an activity and go back, it takes me to the first activity. It’s really frustrating!!!
