No regional news
This app can be poor in performance as other users have described. The lengthy ads are also an issue. However, my main bugbear is that you can’t watch your own regional news program. Although the app account asks you to provide a postcode for probably regional advertising, you cannot watch your regional news and weather. All that is provided is the programming for London which is completely irrelevant to the vast majority of the country’s users. I really think this is incredibly poor in this day and age. The BBC iplayer allow you to view your in regions’ news. Time ITV X did the same. I want to be informed with the news from my locality.
Not good enough
Constantly freezes and bugs out. My wifi is impeccable so I know it’s not that. I wouldn’t consider paying to upgrade based on the fact that the regularly free app does not work properly. Frustrating.

Subtitles impossible to see
I loved this app until recently, when an update changed the subtitles format, causing a huge accessibility problem for me. I rely on subtitles as I have hearing issues, and instead of the text being large and easily visible at the bottom of the screen, the text was displayed in a very tiny size at the top of the screen meaning I couldn’t even see it. I contacted customer service who said they can’t do anything to fix it, so I can no longer watch anything on ITVX. I’m sure I’m not the only one affected by this, so I hope they will finally resolve this technical error so people with accessibility issues can still watch their favourite programmes.

Download; Ads; & costs
The ability to download is great; and just like the free version on BBC Iplayer). It’s nice not to have ads, but I grew up with ads; and they are an opportunity to pop out and do something mid-program. Now I have to <pause> the telly 😏 The price £60pa has gone up quite a lot since the cheap offer I accepted. I’ll probably cancel one of these days.

Too many adverts & far too many technical issues!!! ITVX has become really frustrating to use. There are far too many repetitive adverts & the server seems to crash regularly while you’re actually watching a programme. When you reload the app after a crash, you’re then forced to sit through another load of adverts all over again. Strangely, the adverts seem to have no problem playing & are extra loud! The ad-free subscription is also quite expensive, especially when the overall app experience still feels so unreliable. The app can also be very slow to make programmes available, particularly live ITV News content. Usually, when eventually released on the app after a while, it’s broken up into segments rather than giving you the option to watch the full programme as it was originally aired. The live player is another major problem. If I restart a live programme from the beginning, it will randomly interrupt what I’m watching and jump me back to the current live broadcast. Sometimes it even switches me to a completely different live programme. This makes watching something from the beginning incredibly frustrating. ITVX has some great programmes, but the app itself needs a serious overhaul. Please fix the crashes, improve the live player, reduce the repetitive advertising & make programmes available instantly as they air or straight afterwards.

Sooooo slow
Why is this app so slow on my television? Works fine on a laptop but it’s infuriating on the tv. And there are annoying little pfffts of sound between adverts that drive me up the wall.
Make your ads shorter
I personally think and know people who like ITVX but find the ads draining because why am I watching 2 minute and 30 second ads for something like love island and I know other free streaming platforms that have ads but aren’t as long like I’ve got a life outside watching shows where I have to spend on important thing i haven’t got 5.99 a month to paying you guys for a show and don’t get me started on how frequent these ads are it’s ridiculous

SharePlay not possible
Screen goes black. BBC iPlayer, Apple TV much better for FaceTime SharePlay so prefer to watch shows there.
Adverts time
The adverts are not too long, unlike Channel 4 where you get bored of watching advert and just turn it off

Good content, weak platform
You can ‘continue watching’ the exact same episode you were on… but if you want to watch a different episode you have to search for the show all over again. This is obviously done deliberately, but why?
Constant buffering
Was okay, but recently seems to buffer a lot.
Customer service
Had a program which wouldn’t load. Error message said it was an error their end and to contact them. Sent them the screen shots of the error message to get a reply of error must be my end. Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app which was what I was told to do and didn’t work. Reply from them after was same message.

Paying to remove ads doesn’t actually remove all ads.

I wanna kill my self every time am enjoying a show am watching and then an ad pops up and it says only 3 or 2 ads but then there 4 or 5 and it annoying so please remove the ads

No tv guide and not clear if a programme is new or a repeat please fix this so users don’t have to waste their time looking it up !
Too many ads
Advert countdown regularly counts past zero and into negatives meaning you have to watch several minutes of unskippable ads and then you have to restart it to exit the ads where you are then risking the same thing happening again as you are immediately served with more ads. Incredibly frustrating to happen multiple times in the same programme
