All these symbols with no description
An endless supply of new symbols that do something if you click on them but have no description. Is there a place where you describe them? Probably but how does one find that and what specific special new word describes this? I have a description for this PITA! Who reads and buys your paper? Make it easier!

Can't use offline
My phone hasn't downloaded the latest edition since Feb. Appears to start and then it fails. Not clear if it's a bug or a setting on my phone, but frustrating .
“Clicks” on advertising link by itself
Every few minutes of using the app it will open a Safari link to an advertiser even if you don’t click the link. It used to be a good app but it’s now useless. I’ve deleted it and just use the browser instead.
Please fix settings glitches
Font size adjustment does not work. Several bugs with system font and font size slider. No changes available for size of article font.
Canada’s Newspaper
We in Canada should support world class, independent, Canadian owned news sources, even when we disagree with its findings and opinions (ever find anyone that agrees with you all the time?). As so much of Canada’s other newspapers are American MAGA donor owned, support this one!
Broken
Offline reader mode has been broken for months and support says they don’t know when it will be fixed.
Could be a fault on my end. App continually crashes.
Update: The app is holding up well on both my iPhone and my iPad. The original glitch seems to have recovered ,could very well be a problem on my end. New subscriber here and I not impressed. Works fine on the MacBook but is garbage on iPhone and iPad.
Still logging me out
Thought Devs fixed it but nope, this app is still logging me out😡 And i don't understand why the Developers ask us to call, when they should be fixing it within the app
App needs to be better
I really want to use this service, but the app is not good enough. It logs me out every day. There are distracting video ads. The Globe should take inspiration from the Economist for their app.

Warning re:cancellation
The digital subscription to The Globe and Mail requires that one call and speak with a representative in order to cancel the subscription. The process is very cumbersome and unnecessary. Think cautiously before subscribing. Also, the paid version still has advertisements.
Offline reading doesn’t download automatically
Offline reading doesn’t work. It’s doesn’t download articles while connected for offline reading later.
Broke login
As of mid-June signing in opens a web view. If you’re already signed in, the webview never completes the return to the GM app, and you can’t login. Workaround: sign out of GM in Safari, before signing in on the app Hopefully they can fix this, and better… test for edge cases.
Latest version crashes
The latest version simply closes after a few seconds. Barely enough time to read the first page titles.

They try and trick you into clicking ads which takes you out of the app
Authentication issue
10.12.1 does not solve the authentication issue for me. I have to sign in every day; sometimes every time I use the app.
Keeps logging me out of subscriber content
Worked fine until recent update. Now the app continually logs me out and asks me to log in to access subscriber content. Seems like basic functionality to me…
Now I have to log in every day
I used to be able to go for months and not be faced with having to log in. Now, something has changed, and I’m being asked to log in every day, despite checking the “keep me logged in” tab. Why did you change this? I used to happily give this app 5 stars, but until this issue is fixed, I am lowering my rating.

Daily Log-in Huge Nuisance
The app now requires daily log-in. Ridiculous. I guess the Globe and Mail has too many subscribers. Daily log-in is a strategy to drive subscribers away. Message received.
Font size
One major problem with the Globe is that the font size is too small to read.
Not very accessible
The font size adjustment is hit and miss. Constant log in errors.
Give Paying Users More Control.
I pay for a subscription to the global mail, and I appreciate the news, however, the fact that I cannot transfer articles from the app to speechify to use their text to speech services is very frustrating to me considering the Texas speech and my paid usage are both my choice choices. Please don’t keep with the app and its content.

Decent app, biased reporting
It’s so bizarre to me how the Globe and Mail continues to play a sympathetic attitude toward Iran when it’s people at home and abroad are thrilled that there Islamic regime has been toppled. It’s so clear that they want to compel us to buy a message, and not necessarily the facts/news.
DARK MODE
Why are most of your articles consistently presented in LIGHT MODE even though Dark Mode is turned on in the app as well as iPhone 16 settings. Please rectify this. Thank you
Great app
Smooth experience with tons of topics to dive into. The audio feature is gold as I can listen to the morning update while multitasking. 🎧🗞️ The writers feel objective but still very human. Their tone comes through so clearly - really well written ✍️
You have to call a 1 800 number to cancel
Feel dishonest
❗️Dark mode not implemented
If you have dark mode turned on , hide your eyes. This app does not honor that system-wide setting. iOS 13 has been beta for almost 8 months, what have you guys been doing all this time. Dark mode was not a last minute surprise, but yet you are treating it as such.
Subscription
The yearly rate of $299 quoted on the Apple Globe and Mail page does not appear in the app. Only the monthly rate is visible. The monthly rate is substantially more expensive when calculated over a year.
Fire the graphic designers!
Once again the graphic designers at the G&M have taken over with the new design and tried to make a newspaper look more like a glossy magazine, rather than a database of news articles from which the reader may select. Lots of large photos/pictures/graphs to scroll by even if I’m not interested in the article. Far less efficient to use and far more annoying than the older version. Please go back to small thumbnails if you insist on pictures on the home page.

Low effort app development
Update: July 7, 2026. Still getting signed out without warning and must sign in to access content. Clearly, Subscribers are being overcharged for content and the developers are overpaid to write basic code. Update: June 29/26. Had to log in again. V 10.12.1. DO NOT reply you are sorry and to contact the support number. They are swamped because of basic failure. Update: June 19/26. Why does the app log me out daily now? ----- Many articles are from third parties such as Reuters. (1) Why are subscribers not able to customize and organize the sections we prefer to read? If I don't care about the Life, Watchlist, Politics nor Opinion sections, but prefer Sports and Real Estate, why am I not able to move some to the bottom and Sports up? Too much development cost? (2) Why are subscribers not able to clear our reading history? That takes up storage space on our mobile devices. (3) Why does the Globe customer service not know when our promotional periods are over? There's no way to determine that by logging in either. (4) When users see a photo in the "card view" of an article, many times that photo is missing when users open the article. (5) I don't need to see the writers face in such a prominent size.

Globe and Mail is a premier news outlet in Canada, and this app allows the user to easily keep up with Canadian current events.
iOS 13 Dark mode article experience is very poor
In iOS 13.1.1 if you select dark mode articles render with grey text on a black background. It makes it very difficult to read the articles. I like dark mode. I like reading the Globe on my phone. I want both. Seems like it should be a simple fix. Fingers crossed for an app update soon.
The Ads are a disaster.
Every time you read an article the ads click involuntarily. This is a huge annoyance.
