Best App so far
As far as apartment or room searching this one is very user friendly and gets the points across without have to jump through hoops.
Spam
This app is loaded with spam advertisements.
Too many upgrades and costly to contact
I have upgraded for a month and for few contacts I see again I need to upgrade to message them that’s too much greediness. Already I am paying and over that to contact I need to pay more.
Too many scammers
A lot of scammers here.
Limited Options
Didn’t find rooms in the area I was interested in. Other apps allow all communication for free while this app needs payment to contact with some landlords.
This App will help take away the stress!
I found a roommate in no time and I didn’t even spend a dime. I had someone move out last minute and needed a better replacement and boy did we find one. Found a suitable roommate in 4-days and I’m so happy with her. Had lots of options to choose from. Was a breeze. Thank God and thank you very much for the help SpareRoom👌🏾
Dissatisfied
I put on this site for about two years but in that time, I can honestly say that, even though I have a two-story home a spa a pool, very nice landscaping in the backyard and access to all community property. Everything in the kitchen so forth I’ve never received one message from anybody from this website. I am within their price range and I am located in the area that they say they’re searching, but no matter how many messages I sent out nobody response so I’m not sure if you guys aren’t showing my ad unless I pay for an upgrade but this website produces no roommates. I use craigslist and I get phone calls and messages at least once a week so something’s definitely wrong with spare room.
Pay to Pay to Live
Why would you charge people to look for a room to rent? I can say there are a good amount of people who are just looking for a room cause life can put you in a tight space when you’re figuring things out. I’ve been able to send one message but if a listing is less than 7days old I have to upgrade to get in contact with someone so I can have a roof over my head? That’s pointless for anyone trying to find a long term/temporary solution to their living situation. These people are putting their coin in front of their users’ convenience.

Can’t log in app
Can’t log in the app but I can log in through the website. I change my password and nothing I deleted the app and reinstalled and nothing. Is there a problem with the app?
The app is eh
I got this app a while back while trying to look for an affordable place to live. But this app is only useful to people who don’t have a budget haha, so if you are on a tight budget and want a room, don’t download. They also don’t update the rooms available. I was looking for a room near me, there weren’t any at all, I waited a few weeks and would check every now and then, there are still no rooms available to rent. So if you are planning on downloading this app and you need a place to rent asap, don’t go for this app. It takes a while to find a room and even longer for anyone to get back to you. Hope this helps!
Issue with room search
When I go to search for rooms and apartments and select location on the next page I see something went wrong
Increase in scamming
There has to be a way to identify and eliminate scamming. Also, there should be a rating system so landlords/Roommate’s can receive feedback from folks who have rented via SpareRoom.
El servicio no es bueno
Quieren Que pague otra vez y no me dean mandar mensajes
They’re either bots or scammers
I’ve had my room posted for a few weeks now and 4 of the 5 responses have been either scammers or bots. The one real person who reached out, didn’t fit the situation I had posted at all. Not impressed.
It’s ok
It’s ok. I am still without a place so we’ll see.
King
Easy, fast, convenient 👍✌️😀
Sketchy Accounts
There are too many unverified accounts with no picture. It’s hard to determine whether or not the accounts are legit or just phishers trying to get info. Without fail, every time I’ve asked someone to post a photo and verify their account, they say it’s “[not a problem]” and then never send another message. The whole thing is sketchy. Just use roomies.com instead; they do better at shutting down / preventing fake accounts.
Worked great when app let me sign in
Good app but won’t let me sign in anymore sad. This is a huge problem.
Lakers 2
Lot of people looking this is private co I like Still looking it’s easy to use price is good
Scam Alert
Useless app. Full of scammers and dead listings. I’ve seen the same rooms posted for years with no replies to messages. Some listings clearly target young women only, which feels creepy and unsafe. After multiple attempts, I never found a real or responsive option. Do not recommend.
On my 4th housemate
SpareRoom thank you for helping me turn my empty room into a money maker. As you know living in LA is very expensive so getting a housemate makes my life easier. Everyone that moved in fit me perfectly and paid rent and utilities on time. I recommend this app, it will help you. Some advice for people who have a spare room, furnish it!!!! You’ll have a better chance of getting a roomie, if you make it easier for them. You’ll always make money from it😉
Payment required to send messages
Payment required to send messages. All these roommate apps are the same.
Roommate
Me and my boyfriend actually found a room. I was surprised that I found it the next day I downloaded this app. Highly recommend using this app if you need to find something quick. Just be careful in case some of them are scams.
Not Trustworthy
This app has been an absolute nightmare. I’ve made multiple accounts—each time paying to post ads to find roommates for my place—and every single time, I either got logged out or my account was deleted for no reason. My profile was verified, my ads followed all the rules, and everything seemed fine… until the app just kicked me out with no explanation. After three or four times of this happening, I tried again, made yet another account, paid again for two more ads—and not even 10 minutes later, I was kicked out again. I can’t log back in, I’ve received no help, and I’ve now wasted money on at least 4 to 6 ads that I can’t even access. This feels like a scam. It’s ridiculous that users can pay for a service and then get locked out without warning or support. I’m beyond frustrated, and unless this is fixed and I’m refunded or given real access, I absolutely would not recommend this app to anyone.
Fastest I’ve ever rented out a room
This app is truly amazing the fact that for free they let you have 1 ad at a time and allow people to message you for free is awesome. I rented out 2 rooms in a matter of 2 weeks for free I’m very great full for the app and developers
Terrible

Alejandro
very good the application is very easy to use and you get what you are looking for
Waste of time
Since creating a free account, I haven’t received a single message. Potentially interested people aren’t able to reply to your ad until a whole week later. Also, if you try to put your contact number in your ad, they’ll moderate and remove it immediately lol stick to Craigslist folks!
