A Very Fair and Reliable Company
We have relied on Amica for years. They are exactly what they are supposed to be both reliable and fair. We have no complaints and can sleep at night knowing we have a top notch company that we can depend on if need be. Thank you.
The App is awful
Never works when you need it too! All I want to do is show proof of insurance! Broken and frustrated!
Beautiful app but more native iOS integration would be nice
Beautiful app but signing in is a pain when using Passwords to generate the 2FA token (“Google Authenticstor”)—the Autofill doesn’t work presumably because the form doesn’t define the input type correctly. I’m not sure why this 2FA scheme was implemented in 2025 rather than FIDO2 Passkeys.
Amica is great, the app, not so much
The company has been great, I’ve never had issues when I’ve been able to speak to anyone who works for the company. The app, however, is not so great. It keeps showing conflicting notifications (for example, payment past due, but payment was actually received), and I am unable to enroll in AutoPay as a result. Will likely have to contact customer support to resolve the issue caused by the app.
Great Insurance. Meh app.
I trust the app. It mostly does what I want, but it is a bit clunky with missing pieces that are frustrating. eg. yearly mileage entry should be in app with last years vehicle miles already there instead of my writing it down - or at least let me see last years document upload; Sliders of the different insurance attributes to try adding/subtracting to see how it affects price/coverage; see different prices for different states as i anticipate move; Surveys: I will NEVER take an email link to do a survey - should be in secure app as needed; app should have link for suggestions like these.
Amica is Great, App Needs Optimization with iPad
The app has definitely improved over the years but it’s still not optimized for the iPad. It’s essentially the iPhone app so a lot of wasted space on the screen. That’s my only complaint with the app. The customer service with Amica is top notch. That goes for general questions, requesting changes to policies as well as claims service (which you hope to never need but it’s comforting knowing you’ll get great service if you do need it).
So many trash apps
The two factor authentication for my insurance was a choice and a bad one. Why does everyone need to protect their car insurance info so much? Can we not remember my phone? Who gets access to my phone but is unable to pass the tfa that goes to my text. It’s bad UX. The app is slow. Log in doesn’t always work. And if you need to do anything more complex than print id cards you’ll be calling an agent anyway.
Great app for iPhone
This is a great app while using my iPhone, but would love to have it optimized for use with my iPad as well. Only uses a small portion of the iPad screen…
Good company, poor app
My experience with Amica has been great from a company/customer service point of view (luckily no claims), however their tech (website and specifically the app) leaves a lot to be desired. As others have stated, various functions are always unavailable, under maintenance, or not working for long periods of time. Ive been trying to use the “quote a vehicle” process to get quotes on various new vehicles for my wife, and it hasnt worked in weeks, it just gives a pop up about a “technical issue” and to call. I dont want to call when I have a list of 10 possible cars, calling would take forever - the website/app just a few minutes to check. This type of basic functionality being “broken” for 3+ weeks is unacceptable and has me seriously considering another company.
MFA sign in option needs improvement.
During login with MFA enabled, and “Receive code in your Authentication App” selected, “Enter Security Code” screen appears. Double-tap in Code entry box ONLY gives the option for Scan Text, but no option for AutoFill > Passwords to get the authenticator app generated code. This results in having to leave the app to open the user’s 3rd party password manager to get the generated code. I contacted Amica and their response was, unfortunately, “this is a feature that our developers do not plan to implement currently.” Maybe they can reconsider and add it to their list of things to improve the app.
Excellent Service
I am updating my previous review. I originally was upset that the screen would freeze at login. The app has not done this since my last review was responded to and I cannot say I was a responsive customer. Amica has not failed to deliver, however, and their service inside and outside of the app never disappoints. I will be with Amica for a long time to come. I am continually impressed with Amica and highly recommend not only their app, but also their insurance. Thanks Amica!
Login & view issues
The login process is painful, why have text or code requirements when you’re using biometrics? Often requires multiple attempts to get in. And by the time you do get in, none of your policies or any information is available. The app used to work, but now it doesn’t work at all. Not sure how this is acceptable in this day/age.
Needs Apple Wallet Insurance Card
Overall good app but one huge flaw. Since it’s more secure not to keep registration and proof of insurance in the car in case it is stolen, the only way to electronically prove insurance is to access your paper ID through the app using WiFi or cellular connection, but if stranded somewhere where internet is not available this can be a major problem. Amica needs to create an electronic Apple Wallet auto insurance card that updates with the dates of coverage like credit cards, AAA member cards etc. I’m sure if Amica asked Apple or AAA etc for help, this could be created very easily.
Great company, mediocre app…
Amica is a great company, and the app is fine…when it’s actually working! Over the last few years, it seems that every time I want to access something on the app, it is undergoing “scheduled maintenance” that renders all of the useful features unavailable. I would expect & understand if this happened overnight as it does with most of the banking apps, but sometimes it lasts for an entire weekend, or for several hours in the middle of a weekday. On Friday afternoon, I got an email about my auto policy renewal documents being ready, it’s now Sunday night and I still haven’t been able to access them on the app or website due to this “scheduled maintenance.” I’ve been shopping for a new car, and the quote feature is helpful as I research different makes & models, but again, it seems to be unavailable almost every time I want to use it. It’s not enough to make me look elsewhere for coverage, but it sure is annoying!
App needs work
The app covers all of the basics you would expect, but there are some annoyances. If you enable MFA on your account, you’ll need to provide a code every time you open the app, even with Face ID enabled. What’s worse is that the MFA code field isn’t recognized by iOS, so it won’t autofill from your password manager and there’s no way to use the Passwords menu to manually fill it either.
Amica is Wonderful insurance
Amica's outstanding insurance is an excellent choice for reliable coverage. It offers a wide range of coverage options, including auto, home, life, gap, business, and umbrella insurance. The company has a long history of providing excellent customer service and competitive rates. They also offer discounts for multiple policies and for being a loyal customer. With Amica insurance, you can rest assured that you are getting the best coverage.
Not for iPad!
Amica app is only for iPhone so it doesn’t show up full screen on an iPad. Disappointing.
Good app
I recently transferred several policies to Amica and so far so good. The app is fully functional but I’d say not as good as the Geico app I used to use. I’m not sure why my earthquake policy hasn’t appeared with the others. But this app is certainly good enough to get what you need done.
login doesn’t work
The app requires MFA, so after accepting my FaceID, I get an email with a verification code to enter. The problem: it doesn’t work. Entering the code gives “System Error—Something went wrong on our end. Please try again later.”
Test your code..
This is a rating of the APP. Amica is great, recommended them for sure. However the developers of the APP, typical. They don’t test and break the APP constantly.
All Star app
This app is great! Two years ago when I got hit by a deer, yes a deer. They handled everything perfect. I was always alerted through the app for the next step about medical, and the car rental. It is so easy to either make a payment, and add or delete a car to the insurance.
Not opening
After the update, my app no longer opens. It will send me my two-step verification code. When I type it in it sits there just spinning does not log me in.
Glitchy
None of the payment screens work. I can’t manage payments or make payments. The app just freezes and crashes every time. I can see and upload policy documents but that’s all it’s good for. Authentication is a joke. Only sends the text half the time. Use the website instead. It’s a way better experience.
Keep having to re-login
Every time the app updates it requires one to enter userid and password again even if FaceID is enabled. I’ve surrendered using it and go to the website instead
Easy to use!
Great app that’s user friendly! Excellent company with the best customer service in the industry, not surprised this app works just as well.
Makes Me Hate Amica
This app sucks. The login is awful. The biometric always has an error. It always glitches and takes forever to login. You need a text code if it happens to lose focus which means you need to get a text every few minutes. The roadside assistance is horrific. Most of the time I get sent to the website that asks me if I want to download the app. Honestly I’m just going to shop for new insurance. I’ve had it.
ID card doesn’t download to Apple Wallet
The option to download ID cards to Apple Wallet does not work. I’m stuck taking screenshots of printable ID cards.
App works very well but…
the data takes s long to load that your patience may run out or you may get bored and try to do something else. Then you are penalized and have to start the process all over again. Better just to use a computer.
Great Company
Great company, rates are decent, customer service is excellent with acceptable level of transparency. I think our premium could be lower since we have never been in any “at fault “ accident, no history of any form of traffic/moving violation. No tickets. Will see what Amica has for good driving record and loyalty discount. Keep up the good work Amica!
No good
"We're unable to handle your request". Doesn't matter if it's an upload or a download. 2fa codes aren't delivered in a timely manner
Slow
Glad Amica has an app, but it's very slow and always asks if I want to set up 2FA. It would be nice if your insurance card could be added to Apple Wallet.
Needs to add support for Apple Wallet
There really needs to be an option to add a digital version of your insurance card to the Apple Wallet. AAA and others allow you to do this so Amica should also be able to. This has been asked for by customers for several years so not sure why it hasn’t been implemented yet. Let’s go Amica! Update: Good response but you’ve been saying the same thing for quite a while. Let’s see it happen.
Unable to complete
Using iPhone and Amica app was unable to make billing transactions. Selected today before noon. Had to change from Apple Pay to my bank account which has worked before. Tapped the next button and the screen slid over where you could see a small portion of the previous screen and the next final or confirmation screen never displayed tried 3 times. Unable to use.
App doesn’t live up to company
Amica is a great insurer with amazing customer service. This app and their website fall far short of this. Something as simple as adding a new credit card to autopay encountered so many bugs that I had to call. As pleasant as the reps are, it’s a time waster.
Cannot make a full payment
The app does not let me make the full payment, the it only accept full dollar amounts, does accept cents , for instance if my bill is $100.17 it will only let me pay 100 dollars , then when the due date is it will accept a payment of 17 cents ,
Disaster
I have a doctorate and am very computer savvy, but I never was able to log in. Horrible software.
App Had Gotten Buggy
This app was never the most intuitive to use, and was missing some basic features like a page that just shows payments. With the latest release the usability is very poor. The app never saves user name, Face ID doesn’t work, and it randomly opens the apple password screen.
Blank screen
Every time I try to open the Amica App, I see a blank screen and it does not change. Even if I shut down and reopen it’s the same blank screen.
Reads clipboard
The app is good however I’m reducing the number of stars because thanks to ios14 I know know this app reads contents of my clipboard. That is NOT necessary. Fix it.
