Excellent
New name new issues
The new Victory Shield app doesn’t filter content correctly. Before rebranding and app update the app worked very well. Blocked all explicit content. Now it doesn’t block anything. Not even the most basic restrictions.
Fantastic app for internet accountability however…
It could do with an anti uninstall feature, whereby you request to uninstall and 24 hours later get a code to uninstall and a way that if going through support to diagnose any issue that the feature can be bypassed. That way it will stop the temptation to delete momentarily to feed lusts and desires and put the app back. Based on that, that is why I give 4/5 stars but with that feature I would love to give 10 stars.
iPhone issues
VPN and internet issues makeit almost unusable
Slow internet access
For some reason, and it seems to have got worse over time, when I’m using apps that need the internet access (which ones don’t!), the VPN slows things up to the point where it hardly loads and I have to either switch to data usage (at home!) or temporarily disengage the VPN (not ideal). Not sure what to do.

Interferes with the wise bank app
Lots of false positives and overpriced.
Great app
Good app. A little slow at times. But then again what gives me internet and security. is not slow sometimes.
Difficult to use and isn’t robust
Set up was unnecessarily complicated and wasn’t very user friendly. The app seems to be quite buggy as during the set up I was signed out randomly twice. The main problem with this app it isn’t compatible with the in built blocks on the screen time iPhone settings, which are free. As soon as you turn the blocks on, the app disappears? The accountability feature was very appealing to me and my partner but it seems like all you need to do is to switch off the VPN in the settings and the app no longer functions? It’s as simple as flicking a switch and takes 15 seconds. To anyone struggling and wanting a solution I suggest that you use the screen time settings and have your partner or someone else set a passcode on it. One that is random and you cannot guess. That way you can’t simply disable the filter. It’s also not a bad idea to incorrectly put the passcode in deliberately multiple times as it tracks the number of failed attempts. That way if you were to guess the passcode and disable the blocks, it would be evident as the number of failed attempts resets to zero, and your accountability partner would be able to see you have disabled the blocks. This is free and seems to be more robust than this app that costs over £10 a month.
Fast but silly rating
It’s relatively fast as a browser but complete nonsense that it’s rated 17+. This means that you can’t disable 17+ apps from the App Store without also disabling Covernant Eyes.
Noble goal but nothing works
There is nothing about this programme that would make me want to persist with it, having failed on my laptop and phone.
VPN is rubbish
VPN keeps cutting in and out. Getting bored of the problem now. Looking for an alternative blocker:
Current version 3.1.4 doesn't work at all.
Since updating to the version made available on 2nd June, CE hasn't worked on my iPad. It opens but then either crashes and closes, or just does nothing and freezes. Not great as its my primary browser. Please fix this.
Good concept, doesn’t work on data / cell
I’ve been a customer for years. I love the app, however I really struggle with internet connection. At home, on Wi-Fi it works fine. But when I go out and my phone switches to data, I lose internet connection or it becomes incredibly slow. If I uninstall CE then my internet connection works fine and is super quick. Seems to defeat the point really, having to uninstall CE so that I can use my phone out and about. This really needs fixing.
Keeps crashing
I love covenant eyes and the peace of mind it brings. However, it keeps crashing at the mo which is just plain irritating. I'd also love a feature for iPhones where when you click a link it automatically opens in covenant eyes, the way it would with safari. At the moment you have to copy the link and paste into the browser, which is cumbersome. The star rating will go up when the bugs are fixed!
Good but needs improvement
Good but slow. Sometimes freezes and then shuts down. Other times it loses all of your previous pages. Still believe in the concept of accountability, so still worth it!
Too many issues
Constant vpn issues
Vastly improved!!
Very happy with how the app is currently running. Most important to me is its stability, which at the end of the day is more important than features. Hopefully this stability just gets better and better.
Regularly drops my connection
The Covenant eyes new vpn screen accountability software regularly (every hour or so) stops me connecting to internet either via data or WiFi. Annoying issue for an expensive product.
Ok - improvements needed
Hi guys, this is a good browser, it's the best around of its type. Please can you develop a twitter app where there are no photos on it and where it doesn't allow you to click links to external sites other than to copy and paste into the CE browser? should be pretty easy to do.
Thanks
I’m glad there’s an app to actually help I’m genuinely grateful that this has improved my life so much, just use your brain and do what you need to do
Unworkable
Made my phone crawl disappointing was hopeful please bring back the normal cov browser
Good
Works ok... Needs to be updated for iOS7 though. Great to have this available though!
Functionality
The filtering and accountability features are good but the user interface and stability isn’t the best and that’s why I’ve awarded a 3 star.
One of the most important apps available.
Get this. Tell your friends.
Awful
Blocks nearly all sites
Too pricey and doesn’t filter properly!
I don’t use the support phone number so paying nearly $11 a month for an app (very soon to be $12 a month!) is in my opinion FAR too much money. I really don’t see how it can be so costly for the app producers, once the software of the app is up and running, to have this app running in the background to maintain the package with the 10s of 1,000 of dollars that must be rolling in each month. The software works quite well though still has blind spots that don’t filter properly so I am seriously thinking of changing to a less overpriced app with another company that can do a similar thing for half the price.
Great App
What a great app this is keeps me safe
Update has made this app redundant
This app relies entirely on their vpn, which can be turned off in the settings, which defeats the point of setting up restrictions. Previously this app had an in built browser, which meant I could turn off safari, and solely use this. However there has recently been a software app which removes the browser. For me there is no longer a reason for paying for this service when the value to customers is preventing them from visiting websites. They’ve lost my business. I would consider re-subscribing if they can stop me turning off the vpn, which is something that their competitor (Canopy) can do.
Unfortunately not great
I've been using the covenant eyes browser for a few weeks now and it is just a really bad experience. Opening new tabs is pointless as when switching tabs just seems to load the page you were last one. It is really buggy. You'll also find that if you disable Safari (which you really should be doing) then you can't open links in emails. That might not be covenant eyes fault but is a bit frustrating.
Fantastic Product
Invaluable for keeping the internet a safer place to be.
Great idea but
We have spent so so long trying to set this up, but it just doesn’t work. I have an ally but am unable to set up an account administrator, which basically makes the software useless, because I can just change all my own settings. Every time I want to make my ally my administrator, it wants them to set up a new account. So silly and a real shame. Wish there was some customer support.
Dosent work
It works for all of 5 mins trying to browse the net and keeps saying make sure I'm connected to the Internet when my wifi is full signal fix this for gods sake works fine on iPad but not in iPhone.
Advice From Tim
Some great advice from my friend Timmy P if yours doesn't open - delete app and reinstall. Works well now. I wish you all had a friend like Tim.
Terrible
Asks for personal and unessesary details
Master P Sced
This app, is the one most useful app on my phone. One of the few that encourages us to see the internet for what it is.. 1s & 0s projected on the brain. Can certainly be a painful experience from my short life experience so far!
M
I used this software a long time ago before it used a VPN and it was much better. This recent setup is very clunky and often doesn’t work properly. Slightly frustrating for the money you pay!
