Love the app great to get news I can trust and kept up-to-date with. Notifications keep me informed with what's happening. Couldn't do with out it. :)
App crashes
The app crashes on my iPhone while scrolling news items, but I can’t find a means to report it!
Hot screen high power consumption
Informative articles but the app drains the life from my phone battery. The screen is very warm to the touch, can you please fix this up? Thanks

Crashes unexpectedly
Second time I’ve attempted to use this app as I like the reporting, but the app simply crashes and shuts down for no apparent reason. Frustrating.
No landscape mode
Landscape mode stopped working in the app a few weeks ago and hasn’t been fixed despite submitting feedback. Spoils the whole experience.
This is one of my go-to news apps
Great coverage of the big stories especially from New Zealand, with fair, balanced and accurate takes on big world stories too. The notifications are great- not too many not too few. Hard recommend!

This app has improved a lot in the past year, and dark mode and landscape view now work without any problems. The only thing it needs now is a widget.
Crashes when reading articles
Just get to the good bit in an article and the app crashes, restart app and it crashes in the same place again.
Landscape please
The only reason I use this app is for live delay news. Though now it’s not able to be played in landscape. Why not have the TVNZ on demand app able to be delayed then much better, could watch direct on TV as well. Cheers
News app of choice
It’s easy to choose TVNZ. Balanced, fair reporting and some excellent long form content. The app has been updated recently which makes it super user friendly. Prefer this over others like NZ Herald or Stuff that can’t seem to hide their political agendas.
Not the app for latest news, and crashes frequently
Used to be my go-to for the latest news, but sadly the 1News app plays catch-up news for some time now. Breaking news? Don’t count on it. Probably due to staff shortage after its restructure. The app crashes frequently, and repeatedly at the same ‘spot’ in an article when it crashed. Very frustrating when unable to finish reading an article.
Good app but that blue or purple link colour hurts my eyes
Does anyone else have a problem with that purple link colour (that turns red after tapping?) It’s probably the main colour that I can’t see with my Tritanopia. I can’t see it very well against the black background unless I zoom in. Be great if you softened it a little (make it a more light blue).
App keeps crashing on some articles
Very annoying when app keeps crashing as soon as you get to the same place on the article!
Good app but
I’m really enjoying the simple and easy to navigate app but I would happily give this another star if you could swipe back out of news stories the same way you can swipe between different categories.

Keeps crashing
Since updating to iPadOS 26.2, the app continually crashes, sometimes when opening, other times when halfway through an article. It is pretty much unusable now.

You loose 1 star for using 'webmaster' on your support email. So 1994.
Errors
Lately this app has been crashing while scrolling and occasionally error messages when selecting articles. I am amazed at how many spelling and grammar mistakes are present. Do they not care?
How to find what to watch?
I just downloaded this app to watch Love Island Australia but I can’t find it. Is there even a search button if there is, where? I want to rate this 5/5 if I can Watch Love Island.....

Sensational !, without a doubt the best free news App. Fast, easy to use and updated quicker than any news App in Australia. You now just need to find a way to make some money for your efforts. Congratulations TVNZ.
Buggy crash ridden
Whenever the story exceeds a certain length , the app crashes and has to be restarted. I’m switching to a different news app.
4* until this afternoon
Worked well up until this afternoon. Now does not load anything! Just says "connection error. Please try again" Reinstalled it & made no difference! Please fix
App keeps Crashing
Not sure of the cause but on both my iPad and iPhone the app keeps shutting done in the middle of an article. Have tried updating, re-installing etc…really frustrating!!!
No full screen video on iPhone
Please support full screen video on the iPhone - it is annoying having the large white bar with a red "x" taking up so much screen real estate

I just love this app, as I live in England it's nice keeping up to date with what's going on back home in Nz. The only down side is not being able to watch the videos without wifi!!! Please make it so u can use your mobile Internet please!!
Terrible
What a terrible News app. All I get is notifications these days about Trump. And every single one has a negative slant. They never mention one positive thing he’s doing. Which there are plenty of. Talk about useless journalism. Think for yourselves people. I spend half my time in California so get the other side of the picture.

Would prefer more news articles and less adds. App loads and refreshes quickly which is a good point
Best news coverage
This is a excellent app I highly reccomend it, the world news coverage is really good and it's a pleasure to use. Keep up the good work.
Do NOT UPDATE
Every time I update this app the interface gets worse and harder to follow. And the ads that play before some videos have a skip button which comes up after 5 seconds, except you can’t press it! This is illegal!

Accessibility
Please add the accessibility feature ‘Speak selected text’ on app so I can select the text within my chosen articles, stories and have my phone read them out loud. Living with visual impairment provides struggles consuming your content on my iPhone

I wish it had a longer list of news articles in each section. I'd like to see news over the last couple of days, or more, but the list is so short.

Great app for myself. A kiwi living in UK. I can catch up on all the news back home as well as watch the video podcasts of all the current affair programme back home. Good work!

Everyone, if you're reading this review, save yourselves time and energy and just add the 1news website to your home screen (you can do this on Safari). The web version has it all - reading list, SEARCH, landscape... None of which this app has. It's been a disappointing ride, TVNZ. I'll still read your news just not as often. Thanks bye!
