Great app
Fantastic app with may puzzle and archives
Glitchy
Love this app but lately it crashes and once you finish a game you have to close all the way out of the app because the x button in the upper right is not tappable. Surprised that such a reliable app has become so unusable.
Loved this app for years - but is buggy
I’ve been using the app every day for years and love it - but it’s become buggy. For over a month when entering a down answer, the associated clues will not ‘grey out’ - so you can’t tell from the list what clues have been solved. Clicking on either the last down clue - or the first three across clues - will sometimes trigger the completed down clues to ‘grey out’. There have been many, many updates to the app since this happened - but nothing has fixed this. What is going on? Is anybody still solving crosswords at the NYT?

It won’t let me update it with the version I have
Ads
All of a sudden after the last update, the add before the games are automatically opening up and playing quite loudly. I cannot figure out how to stop them from doing so. This is making me close to stopping this app. I like to play these games first thing in the morning and if the ads start playing so loudly, it might wake the house up. If this does not change, I will stop playing these games. Terrible.

Issues fixed and I’m loving it! Got a great deal on the app finally. And now I can enjoy it!
Long time NYT crossword guru
These new crosswords are horrible. It used to be about single words and not sayings or sentences which is what it’s all about today. Absolutely horrible. It’s not about words, it’s about a saying or multiple words for an answer.
Wordle glitch
I love Wordle but wanted to alert that I’ve had 4 Panagram Firsts in the past few weeks, that were not recorded.
Connections
Not impressed with the stretch they make on some matches. Dragonfly, Oxford, pigment, ratchet, all starting with Chinese zodiac animals? Those words have no connection, ox, pig, dragon, and rat do however.
Update trouble !
It’s a good game. It keeps your mind sharp but there’s so much of the trouble and I can’t get it to update on my iPad.

Seven minutes a day free
You get to play one word puzzle everything else you have to pay for. It took me seven minutes to solve it. I'm not even that good at words. My wife would've probably done it in two minutes.
Pay to Play
I should not have to buy a subscription to this to play a crossword puzzle. That is utterly ridiculous. You have to even pay to KEEP playing the FREE game Spelling Bee. That is too much. I’m never going to pay to play word games and no one should have to.
Hate the New Visual Update
Connections now has an alternating beige and red grid pattern that makes it inaccessible and very difficult to read
Can’t X out
So annoyed, I am unable to X out when i finish any of thr crossword puzzle versions. Don’t know why but this is frustrating because I have to close out the app and restart every time. I wanna do a new puzzle. Not sure what changed with the app.

New glitches
I wish the app developers would get back to basics. The app now freezes on occasion, shuffles in Spelling Bee can cease to produce shuffled letters. And many times, the app just becomes unresponsive. I hope they get to the bottom of it.

great when it works
way too often i get nothing but a spinner once i choose a game. this makes it impossible to maintain a streak. i try to play wordle and connections every day. it's VERY frustrating when it will not load either one of them successfully.

I can only play cross word puzzles because my parents do not let me go on websites if you cloud add it in not making it go to the website yay

Some hold my interest
I like wordle, it’s quick but I do have to give it some thought. Connections makes me a little crazy, sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to it, at least not in my mind. I play the new scrabble game with 2 friends but mostly stick to words with friends. I used to play a few other NYT games but they didn’t hold my interest. The crossword and midi are good, sudoku and the domino thing aggravate me. I miss vertex. Spelling bee might be my favorite.

The games are great but the app is glitchy and poorly administered. The games take a long time to load. Sometimes I cannot even access them due to subscription notifications and I have to restart my phone.

Annoying re-picking when puzzle is in progress
After periodic updates, the program makes you start all over again at the beginning screen, even if you have a puzzle in progress and just want to resume. It’s annoying. It places you at your resumed puzzle then all of a sudden takes you back to the start of pick a game. It didn’t used to do this. And it happened repeatedly after updates,that sometimes fix it, but more often than not, do not. You need to fix it. It gives me a headache to be suddenly jerked around like that. And it’s a waste of time for all the users in the world that play this. That should be enough reason right there to fix it; if you cared.
Great overall, recently started crashing
Great app, but recently it just keeps randomly closing. Deleting and reinstalling hasn't helped.
Can't x out to see solved mini
Love a lot of the games, but the app is glitching with the mini where once finished I can't hit the x in the top right corner to view solved puzzle. This became a problem a couple of months ago.

Two problems in the newest version
Before the latest upgrade I would have given it five stars. Two things bug me now: 1. It asks for a review every time you complete the daily crossword. 2. Hints don’t open in the NYT app anymore, so it’s hard to go back and forth if it’s a particularly tough puzzle. You always have to scroll through everything you’ve already read.

NYT continues to make the app more and more awful for the average user. For a while I could play most of the games for free. Then they added ads. Fine. Then they added paywalls for games. Absolutely not. Either let me play the games supported by ads or I just won't play. And now I can't play ANYTHING without creating an account and logging in? What a joke. Probably making a fortune harvesting our data all for some 5 minutes games with poor app design. Soon enough everything will be behind a paywall and still have ads and need an account. Probably going to ask for biometric data next.
Great App except…
The bottom row of tiles for Pips are too close to the bottom of the screen. When you try to drag the tiles the app often flips up and minimizes.
Glitchy App
This app is very glitchy and crashes quite a bit. With how much they charge, especially for the games that used to be free, it is pretty frustrating when you fork out the money and you can’t even play the game. I will be cancelling if it is not fixed.
Crossword Glitch
I echo others who can no longer review a completed crossword. Once you’re taken to the Congrats page, there no getting back to the crossword. The X at top right doesn’t do anything. Now I just pause before putting on the final letter because that’s the only way I can actually review the game. It’s been like this for months. A little surprised no one managing the Games app is on this.
Brain drain app alternative
If you would like to make the time spent on your phone playing games more meaningful, you can’t beat this one!
Its ok
It’s a pretty good app. I plat Wordle and Strands and the Crossword and Connections mostly. It’s ok.
Good but not great crossword port
The crossword is a lot of fun online with the variants and such, but Apple Pencil doesn’t work. This would be S tier if I could write my crossword, sudoku and wordle with a stylus.

Great,but…
Wish there were archives for sudoku and strands. Wish they hadn’t taken away the platform for acrostics. Wish they brought back the triangle puzzle. It is similar to Tiles in feel, but more fun. Most importantly, I wish the daily Spelling Bee included all proper words, left out “cutesy” word like “lite” and “nite”, and did NOT eliminate even basic high school science terms. (Seriously, “amnio” is ok, but “amnion” is not???) Kudos to the Sunday Spelling Bee crew, though.

Is it too much to ask that a puzzle app for which I pay a monthly fee, doesn’t sell my personal data including precise location data to hundreds of third parties?
