Ads over gameplay
This game is very frustrating to play because of all the special additions, seasonal packs, add-ons, and special offers that they are promoting that take up half the screen. You can’t even see your city completely or move around because the entire screen is promos trying to get you to buy special packs. They clearly do not want users to enjoy playing they just want to sell you useless “limited edition” builds. Right now there are 5 different buttons that are not part of gameplay right in the middle of the screen that are just ads trying to sell you stuff. Prioritizes advertisements over gameplay. Will be switching to something else because of this. Do not recommend.
Entertaining but frustrating combo adds
The game is cute and entertaining. It also gives a lot of opportunities to gain rewards. However, the combo adds are very frustrating. They get stuck in the first one, closes the add and you lose the reward. If you are lucky, and you are not claiming a timed reward, you can play it several times until it changes to another add. It doesn’t happen to all of these double adds, but the ones with the problem are the ones shown the most. Very annoying!
Trapped Behind extreme Paywalls!!!Ok Game (Pocket City is Better)
t starts off decent, eases you in, then quickly turns into a paywall grind. Cheaper buildings get locked so you’re pushed into buying expensive ones or waiting ages. You’re basically stuck upgrading 4 things at a time unless you pay more. Even adding just +1 upgrade slot is another £3 on top. You’re looking at £20+ just to get a decent area, and up to £89 for new islands. Madness. I ended up switching to Pocket City for a one-time payment and it’s miles better. Better logistics as well, man. Same vibe, but without all the constant pressure to spend more money. Only good thing is the layout/design side is genuinely solid, but everything else kills it. I also bought £12 worth of in-game cash, and the game just used it up without me actually choosing anything properly — it opened plots I didn’t even click, and burned through it instantly. I did email the help chat, no response!!!! Overall 3/10. I still play it for like 5-10mins a day, because it drags so much.
Love it, despite some downsides
The game is fair, free and Fun. In this update I took away two stars. Having played for a month a few things came up that need immediate attention. First the tool and icons on screen take up way to much room that it makes it difficult to work and view the over all build. Second need to be more clear about what exactly it is your getting when buying the very spendy permanent perks pack.

I purchased the no ads add on for $59.99. Yeah I know that’s crazy but it is what it is. Well after purchasing it and using it a couple of times to exchange currency my buildings now have moving gears above them and it says no video available. So I paid $59.99 and it appears that even after doing that they have it built into the game where that doesn’t really benefit you much. I guess the end goal is to get you to spend more money but I can assure you that’s not happening.

Duplicating Rewards
When I started this game, I really enjoyed it. I watched a great deal of ads to save up keys to earn the treasure boxes. After getting a couple, the buildings started duplicating. I wasn’t discouraged because I thought I would eventually earn a diamond level treasure, which I did and it was great. But alas, the joy died out when I finally earned enough purple keys for a second diamond level treasure and the Ultra rare item was the same that I had just gotten previously. I am sick of watching commercials so that Sparkling Society makes money but won’t give new items. If you do play this don’t expect for the fun to last. And I would never pay a penny if they won’t guarantee that items aren’t going to be duplicated over and over.
One of my favorite games to play!
I absolutely love this game! I have been playing for years and never get bored. However, recently I have had many problems with watching videos to skip time, earn rewards, etc. I can sometimes watch the video and it won’t redeem, or the videos won’t even be available at all. This makes it more difficult to participate in events and challenges, as I only like to use coins for my main islands if possible. I don’t believe purchases should be necessary. If that issue hadn’t arisen I would have easily given 5 stars.
Could be a lot better
Not alot of places with sand nor can you make sand just how you can make roads..
No Gold Keys
The game is fun only thing is I received 30 gold keys for achievements that I did not receive and also yesterday I spin the wheel and won gold keys and watched video to double it and received non my gold keys are still at 0 smh
Playing 4 of Sparkling Society Games
5 Stars - I am currently playing 4 of their games. I just love what they each offer. NO ADS unless you want to watch them. NO timers, NO rush to have to play. I have read where people have to PAY MONEY to advance —->>>NOT. I have only spent money on a few Cranes for each game. I have abundant Gold Coins and Plenty of Money. I like to build and these games satisfy me. I’ll add that I am 72 years old and while things are building I read a book at the same time. So download any of their games and give them a chance. I have tried MANY MANY building games, and nothing compares to what Sparkling Society offers. Enjoy.

All it is is placing buildings and roads. It looks really old fashioned too. It’s boring.

Great game
I think it’s so cool that you can build your city from the ground you decide where the streets are which is about the most important thing and then you go from there so you lay out the plans for the city where you want banks fire stations hospitals the housing area. I know it’s learning, but it’s unique and I think it’s fun

Actually building the islands is a lot of fun but the amount of ads is disappointing I spend more time on this game waiting for ads to stop but it doesn't Removing the app I'm done

I kinda like the game but it takes too long to wait for it to build.ONE day it 30hours BEFORE IT IS BUILT I MEAN COME ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to collect money to buy a new island . I recommend this game for 8,9,and10 and up some younger people might pass out since it takes too long long!
Unrealistic earnings
It’s a great game but it has unrealistic earnings from your buildings. Takes way too long to “earn” enough money to buy new buildings or islands. Unless you spend a bunch of money Would be a great little game if you was able to buy what you wanted with it costing so much Takes weeks it get 15m just to buy one item

Slow, unless costly will little enthusiasm.
You can spend as much time playing this as a full-time job with very little progress, unless you spend money to gain growth and to build enthusiasm !!!! The keys to gain extras are of little to No benefit for progression and before (1 week), you just end up losing interest and removing the app feeling like that was time you will never get back.
Great game but…
I love this game, however there is so much irrelevant icons on the screen that it takes away from viewing your city completely. I wish there was an option to toggle on and off during play. The screen looks busy enough it doesn’t need those extra annoyances. Also, there is a honking horn that will not stop and I don’t know how to turn it off. I shut down the game and re-opened it and even Closed it’s still honks and I’m not even playing it. Make it stop!!!
Huge potential and way too greedy
Great game for the first couple weeks. But once you start to get to level 25 and beyond you have to buy everything with gold coins which you can only get with real money or in the rare chance that you are able to get them from key chests. (yet another currency) Another issue is the cranes once some buildings start to take 6+ hours to upgrade you have no cranes left and can only buy temporary cranes for gold or buy permanent cranes for real money. Nothing is even priced fair if I were to spend real money. I would just rather pay 5-10 bucks just to play the game and not have these issues.

I love this game it’s so much better than the first one I would give this but they need to add parking lots. I feel like that would just make the islands cooler because places would have parking lots so please creator add parking lots

Money doesn’t build up
Offline money build up doesn’t happen. If you get $5 per hour from one building, when you log in, no matter how long it’s been, you still only get $5. Makes building anything nearly impossible.

Please let us buy buildings with money earned instead of coins which are impossible to earn and ridiculous to buy

I like the app but ever since I went to instagram to get the coin it won’t let me on I have to shutdown my tablet and turn it on again… Not sure what is going on but please fix it…. I like this app and would not like to get ride of it…

Great game but…
The game is very good. You can build your city by taking your time and not spending cash. But I play on an iPad and one third of the screen is taken up icons which show tasks to do and offers. I cannot get them to go away so my screen for my city is greatly diminished and it is annoying.

Why are there only 3 cranes available?
Treasure Trail
So I have played all the city island games now and now No. 6. The game itself is pretty good even though I still prefer No.5. However I do have one complaint, and that is Treasure Trail, it starts at 7 days, so if you do not work and you have 10 hours a day playing this you probably would get to the end of this trail. However I decided to only play this part of the game this time to see if I could get to the end. So when I got a few minutes i played and we have just got to end of this trail and I still probably have 10 squares to open. So this trail is no good if you work and have no time on your hands to spend hours playing it.
Insane Game
I love this game. I've played most of their games, but this is their best one. My main critique in their older games is that the maps were so small. It felt like you built a couple of buildings and there was no space. City island 4 fixed this but it wasn't very aesthetic. This game right here is beautiful and has so much space. I play this for hours. It starts off very slow and the fact that there's only 3 cranes is very frustrating. But you can do a lot with 3 cranes when buildings don't take too long to build. I normally don't write reviews but I just unlocked a new island and I was blown away with the amount of space and buildings to build immediately.
Downgrade from city island 5
City island 5 is much better, expansion areas are ridiculously expensive for a strip of land that will only hold a road. Seems more cartoonish as well.
Great game just can’t turn buildings how I want them
I love playing this game. I wish they would make it to where we can turn the buildings all 4 ways instead of just 2 ways. I want some of my buildings facing each other but I can’t do that bc we can only turn them facing south and west. Also if we are able to buy the buildings with money earned from the game instead of having to buy your own gold coins. Other then that it is a 5 star game

Shame the investors of this studio won’t invest in a new engine or switch to a third party one their games look like they are 15 years old with the terrible looking graffics this is 2023 not 2003 cause this number 6 in the series u would think they would of built a new engine the games must be making the money if they keep making them
City Island 6
There's a lot to like about this game and I'm hoping that the upgrade planned later today will address some of the shortcomings in decorations. Also far too many commercial buildings and residential properties are only available if you purchase with gold coins which are very few and far between. So can't get a lot of different buildings at the moment. I'll review the stars after the upgrade.
