Subscription payment
I really like the app and was looking forward to trying some of the recipes, however when I signed up I selected monthly payments and was offered a discount which I accepted, as monthly payments, however the app just just tried taking out the yearly payment from my account. I have cancelled my subscription.
Free trial
I took out the free 7 day trial it says cancel at any time but there’s no link to cancel on. I thought it would be a safe app to try but it’s just another one that you can’t get out of once they’ve got you
Great, even better with other languages...
I like the app very much and also the YouTube channel. The recipes are really delicious. It would be really great if you could set up other languages, e.g. German. 😉
Not for people with dietary restrictions

Not really personalised
My profile includes allergens and ingredients I must avoid, but I'm still being shown recipes that contain them. That defeats the purpose of a personalised app - I could get generic recipe ideas anywhere. Allergen filtering should be automatic and strict, so unsuitable recipes are excluded before they're recommended.
Changed my life!
I have been fitness focused for a few years now and got bored of having the same meals day in and day out. I found Dr Rupy on YouTube a few months back and was hooked with the amount of knowledge he had. When I found out he’d created an app with all his recipes I knew I had to give it a go. I tried the 1 week free trial and now I’m HOOKED!! All of the food has so much flavour and is so good for your gut health. I actually get exited now for my next meal. Couldn’t recommend this app enough it has everything you need from shopping lists, knowledge videos and alternative swaps if you don’t like something.
Terrible piece of Software
This app was either vibe coded or they just weren’t very good at their job because this app is extremely poorly made. Service is unbelievably expensive (why charge $50 for a cookbook when you can charge $110 a year and they can’t even see the recipes if they unsubscribe) Allergy listings contained none of the foods I’m allergic to as well, causing the first 3 recommendations I was ever offered something that would have killed me if I had made it.

I started listening to The Doctor’s Kitchen Podcast probably was 2020 or 2021. I’ve learned so many things and it helped me not only to lose weight. Keep it off but be healthier just to begin with my blood pressure and I do have a monitor watch stays at 120/80 very just a few degrees once in a while, many other things I’ve learned so much thank you thank you thank you thank you
Great app but keeps going off
I absolutely love this app, but if frequently b comes unavailable and telling me I’m offline when I’m not.. very annoying & needs fixing. Can’t even get to app support
Need more to commit
I am looking to cook more and eat more healthily so have been searching for a recipe app. I am happy to pay for the right one and this could be it. I quite like the podcast. However, I can’t see anything at all without providing my card details for a free trial. Even just seeing the three recipes suggested as part of the onboarding would give me an idea whether this is for me. I can see from answers here that there are plenty of reminders of the free trial ending, which is somewhat reassuring but isn’t made clear within the app. Will review again if I do decide to try it.
I won’t buy another cook book !
I love this app! The recipes are for the kind of food I enjoy. What makes this app so good is all the information that Doctor Rupy supplies including the option for increasing or decreasing the number of portions .
Meal plan won’t work
I subscribed to test the meal plan but can’t even get started with it as when I select the meal plan I can’t move on to the next stage as the button to move isn’t visible on my screen. Quite frustrating. I have an iPhone 13 Pro.

Glitchy and no Eggs?
I really wanted to love this app. I have been using so many food tracking apps over the years that it is ridiculous. I love the YouTube channel and thought I would download the app and see if I could use it to improve the foods I was eating the meals I was making, and I prefer to eat fish and eggs so I chose the pescatarian option and I realized with the meal plan menu I was not getting anything that had eggs in it so I thought I would go into my profile and change my profile. It started glitching. It wouldn’t let me go into my food preferences then I changed my food preferences to. I’ll eat anything even though I won’t because I didn’t see a option of vegetarian with dairy or eggs and it wouldn’t save the changes and then when it finally saved the changes and I did a search for an omelette there was no omelette so I am assuming there are no eggs option which I don’t understand like what is the bad rap with eating eggs. I don’t really think that this app is ready for prime time. And also the progress and the macro nutrients that they show you. It’s not detailed enough.
Good, but could be better
I love the idea of this. I wish there was an easy way to add the recipe to progress right from the recipe. I think it would be great if the database for food would include a wider variety, so that if you had to have a Starbucks panini it would tell you how bad it was. I also would like to modify a recipe with substitutes and add that to my progress. Currently it only works for the offered substitutions.
Delicious, healthy recipes
Really love this app. It’s well laid out, easy to use, and the recipes have all been tasty so far. Everything I’ve made has been a hit with my family!
Deceptive marketing
It took my email-id first and then showed that the app is paid and free can only be used if you agree to be charged x weeks from now. I am okay to pay but I like to first see without locking into any contract what am I getting. Sorry but you'll get a 1 start for being deceptive.
Huge fan of the app- but just one suggestion!
Love love love this app so much! Huge fan of Dr Rupy and the doctor’s kitchen podcast. It’s been so helpful in learning about nutrition and my health. The app is fantastic to put all of that into practice! One feature that I would love to see is a meal planning function, much like the one in the Sorted Food app Sidekick, where you can compile the recipes into a meal plan for the week and it generates a shopping list for you of all the ingredients! That would be the ultimate dream and I think I would never use any other foodie app ever again then 😂😂 Thanks so much to Dr Rupy and the team!
Content is great but App glitchy
Very frustrating that the app keeps saying I’m offline when I’m not. Doesn’t matter if it’s WiFi or data. Everything else on my phone is working fine! So annoying when you carve out 30 mins to sit down and meal plan/ do groceries and then get nowhere with tech issues.

Please be aware that the actual price of the premium app is 179 pounds per yr not 80 pounds. Sad face…

Charged after cancellation
I checked the app with the free trial. I was charged at the end of the trial period despite having cancelled within the terms. I checked my bank account and realised the cancellation was never processed despite them sending me a cancellation email and payment would have been taken monthly. I contacted them and were very unhelpful passing the ball to Apple but the charge comes from this company! Pay attention if you are thinking of trying for free UPDATE after having posted this review a team took the time to investigate and resolve the issue. It should not take a bad review for this to happen and it should have been looked into and sorted when I sent the email rather than pointing the finger to others charging me but unfortunately it is a sign of the times. I still appreciate that time was ultimately taken and the issue resolved, hence the upgrade from one star initially given to now 3 stars.
Everything looks incredible!
I don’t often write reviews, but after just 2 weeks using the app I’ve been delighted with the variety of foods and drinks. I’ve already been making the high protein breakfasts which taste wonderful. I have Crohn’s disease and although there’s no cure, I do feel healthier sticking to no ultra processed foods and helping my gut health. I’m pumped with steroids and biological drugs which all cause their own damage. This year I wanted to repair my gut micro biome, the recipes help me get in more good foods. I feel happy with the app, I also watch the videos Dr Rupy has on there to learn new things. Thank you

I was genuinely excited after watching The Doctor’s Kitchen on YouTube—great content that inspired me to download the app and invest time answering all the onboarding questions. But right at the end, I was hit with the classic “enter your card for a free trial” prompt. It immediately changed the tone of the experience. In 2025, this kind of pressure-based, auto-renew model feels outdated and unnecessary. If your content is great, people will pay—no need to create anxiety around forgetting to cancel. The app might be good, but forcing users to hand over payment details before they’ve had a chance to truly explore it feels like a misstep. Let people experience the value first. Trust your product.
What a find!
I was on vacation in Europe and ran across the cooking show. I was so impressed, I got home to the US and tried to view it again - but the show is not available in the US! Luckily, I found the app and love it. Almost exactly what I wanted … except, unfortunately, it does not include Dr Rupy’s demonstrations. Only the written recipes 😞. Oh well. I’ll take what I can get because these recipes are wonderful. If the cooking videos were added the app would be a true home run.
Tech Problem
Please can you sort out the problem with the app. I see I’m not the only one having issues accessing the app. Every time I try to open it, I get a message saying I’m offline, when I definitely am not. This is so frustrating and others have reported the same problem. Help!
A breath of fresh air
I’m planning my meals using the app, trying out a few recipes but mainly adapting my usual meals. The AI version of Dr Rupy is very droll, with substituted ingredients and serving suggestions; that is built into the app. The approach feels motivating rather than restrictive, and that it’s helping me build a routine that’s boosted my protein intake without adding stress. I am using the app to widen my selection of foods, increasing protein rather than count calories. This is the second week and I have felt no tugging towards sugary snacks because I am eating well three times a day. I have not been asked to review the app, this is my honest opinion.
Filter doesn’t work
I’m vegetarian and so set my original preference to this but on searching for food ideas there are dishes with fish in them. So I add vegan to my filter, which cuts out food that I would normally eat contain dairy and eggs. I don’t know how long this app has been available but at the current time, it isn’t useable for me.

This is delicious just what I need at this time of year as the darkness is closing in. Add to that the health benefits and this makes a superstar warming evening meal or an easy lunch when at work.
Love this app but accessing it is a nightmare
I really like this app for the information on health, the fabulous recipes and all the other bits and pieces…but haven’t had the greatest experience with it thus far. I didn’t get my free trial period (was told by the app support that I’d already had it and I hadn’t). The other issue is that I can’t always access it (or get on the website) as I want to. Keep getting messages saying I’m offline when I’m clearly not. Feel disappointed and frustrated as the content looks so good!
Missing option for shopping list
Just started to use the app and few nice to have options are missing 1. There is no option to download the shopping list 2. No option to plan for a week
Great app
Love this app, everything has been so well thought out. The passion for good food comes through every recipe, these recipes aren’t hastily put together to sell only. Obviously not every recipe will appeal to everyone as tastes vary, but the ones I have chosen based on my preferences have mostly been great. The alternative swap options are so helpful as it saves some mental energy, and the meal planner and list are also great. Really appreciate the gifting of the subscription as well. Wasn’t familiar with Dr Rupy previously but am now a big fan of what he is trying to do.
Few recipes available for free
Please don’t claim in your instagram reel that the app is free. Free to download, then you collect loads of personal data, then ask for a subscription, all before one can see how few recipes are available for ‘free’.
Great idea, but could go further!
In the allergen section, I think it would be helpful to include legumes. These can be very inflammatory, and personally as someone who has treated my MS for 13 years with only food as medicine, these are on my never list! The look of the app is great and I can see a few tasty recipes I would try!
Fourth year!
I’ve just renewed for the third time. The App (and podcasts!) have changed the way I think about food, and it’s my go-to resource 80% of the time. Meal-planning is second nature now, and I have saved money in the long run by slowly building up my store cupboard ingredients, and cooking from scratch most of the time. Now in my 60’s, and in the best health ever. Thank you again Dr. Rupy!

Macro profile not that great for athletes
Many of the recipes are somewhat low in protein, fairly high in carbs. Love all the veggies in the recipes. Would like to see recipes that include grass fed, organic, beef. Organic whole milk yogurt and grass fed butter. These foods are not inflammatory when paired with veggies and fruit. Would be concerned that some of these recipes may cause a negative insulin response in some individuals with metabolic syndrome or diabetes.
