Running down battery
I went all in and started encrypting my data using this on the Mac. I needed something in my other Apple devices to access the files so I purchased the app for £9.99. Anyway. I’ve noticed that the app runs for 7-10 hours in the background. Now I have a iPhone Pro Max. The phone should have great battery life but I’m having to charge daily and it’s got worse with 18.2. It could be down to the OS but the app shouldn’t be running during the late hours of the night should it? This isn’t normal. I’ve noticed changed any settings so perhaps it’s a simple fix but if I’m running the app with the recommended settings it should work. I have asked on the community site but heard nothing so far. For now I’ve uninstalled it. I’m hoping I haven’t backed the wrong horse. If I have I will have to start again with some other product. Disappointing.
Probably good?
This app is probably good. But the sad fact is, I’ll never know. It is paywalled. I appreciate such privacy endeavours cost money, and I’ve no issues paying for it, but there is no way of testing with any longevity due to being paywalled. A continuous but modest allowance should be considered rather than a ‘trial period’. I’ll source this encryption elsewhere. 3 stars as any privacy focussed app deserves praise irrespective of peculiar commercial decisions.
I will tell you what I particularly like .
At last a sensible developer who allows a proper trial period without constant pop ups or makes you buy and then have to cancel with 7 days if it is not what you want . This software is far better than others I have tried as I wanted something that works on both my Windows PC and my iPads seamlessly on external devices from SSD’s to USB sticks to transfer between them . Works through iPad file manager directly too without opening the App . Having had a reasonable time to assess it I am happy to buy it for £10 . Well done .
Changed the app
Incredibly disappointed with the update. The app used to be free. You could upload and download from cloud platforms no problem. Now, an open source app is asking me for a subscription?! Why would I use this stupid service, when I can get Proton Drive or any other encrypted service for cheaper AND with less bugs whilst not depending on the Google/Microsoft/etc… ecosystem. You had a perfectly good app. Why did you ruin it?
Does what it says.
Have had the app for a few years and have been happy with it. Not sure how customer service are as I have not had to deal with them. Have encountered a few bugs but nothing a reinstall can't fix.
No integration with Proton Drive?
I know this might be ironic, using a encryption tool to encrypt files in an already encrypted cloud storage. However, I like being cautious and having my files surely encrypted twice. So is it possible to have seamless integration with Proton Drive please?

Esta aplicación se me ha hecho indispensable para poder almacenar información de forma segura en la nube. Funciona bien, es simple de usar, y se integra de un modo comodo en el telefono. Pero me gustaría tener más opciones de almacenamiento en la nube para poder elegir. Filen, proton, sync… son algunas que me gustaría usar para poder dar una capa extra de seguridad y no puedo. Además, cuando se integra en archivos, da igual el nombre que tenga la bóveda, siempre aprecerá con el nombre “cryptomator”, lo cual puede hacer el uso confuso si se tiene mas de una. Por otro lado, para bloquear la bóveda de forma manual, no se puede hacer desde archivos, sino que es necesario abrir la app de cryptomator como tal, lo cual es un poco molesto. Aún así, es una excelente aplicación
File Deletion Not Working
After deleting a file in cryptomator for an encrypted vault located in google drive, the file gets restored back after 10 seconds. Deletion is an essential feature and it just doesnt work with google drive
Struggles with uploading large files
I love the cross-platform support, multi-cloud support, and Siri Shortcuts actions, but this app constantly struggles with uploading large files (e.g., 500+ MB video) which is done via the native Files app. It seems that this has been a problem for a long time, which is disappointing.
Works perfectly
Let me add an extra layer of encryption to my sensible files and the tool works fine on my iphone, ipad and macbook without any issues. This is a solid 256 bit AES encryption program working on all my apple devices.
Terrible
Nothing worked properly on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Tried everything but got so frustrated I deleted the app. Tried again but it’s hopeless on my iPhone 16 Pro Max.

3/5 due to lacking features and usability
I cannot upload files through the iPhone files app, it gets stuck on ‘Waiting’ please bring back the in-app file browser. Due to boxcrypter, can we make an option to keep the folder and file names, syncing with cloud storages would be a lot quicker and easier to keep certain folders offline and some online. Apart from then minor things it’s great

Afortunadamente la mantengo instalada y la puedo seguir instalando. El modelo de funcionamiento de esta app en iOS no es tan cómodo. Me gustaba más la vieja app que no se integraba con el “Files” del dispositivo.
Lack important features to use it everyday
Lack of offline options for both files and folder. I would have preferred a well built app (like google drive) than an integration with the app « Files » from iOS which is really limited and lacking in features. Otherwise the concept is great!

Upload do not work
Just bought the full version . Try to upload in the crypted file , offline files from my iphone. The upload is stuck , do not compleated . Try to delete the file but can t do this as en error is showing lime … cryptomator do not comunicate with another app… stupid error message. I use cryptomator on onedrive. Paid 12 pounds for nothing, i want my money back.

Cryptomator 1: Legacyの時とは違い、画像ファイルの閲覧時にスワイプ操作が出来るようになったのは良いのですが、自動では表示されずファイル毎にダウンロードボタンを押さなくてはならないため使いづらいです。 Android版の様に自動で読み込み閲覧が出来るようにして欲しいです。 宜しくお願いします m(_ _)m
Works very well
I heard about this program/app from a YT channel I follow, AskLeo,com. It seemed to be just what I was looking for and so it has proved. I now feel more confident that my sensitive data is stored securely and encrypted with a VERY long and random password. Both the apps, iPad and iPhone and the Windows program work seamlessly together. I would recommend Cryptomator.

It won’t work on an old iPad because the app requires the latest iOS. It has been very reliable over the years.
WebDAV not working
Updated to latest 11-dec-22 and it wont connect to webdav
Beautiful app, but..
I love Cryptomator. I use it across all my devices and I happily donate to this project. However, my cloud provider is MEGA, and on iOS I’m not able to use my MEGA vault on Cryptomator. Adding support for MEGA vaults would be amazing.
Does what it says
One of the things that I really like about this app is how seamlessly it integrates with the files on my iPhone and on the MAC. I use it on top of NextCloud which syncs the files between my laptop and my phone.
Fails
Sad to say not as good as the reviews tried several times set a vault put stuff in and nothing there just got rid
OneDrive now needs Authenticator
When I try to add a OneDrive vault it wants to open Microsoft Authenticator for some reason so I cannot open my vault. I have Microsoft Authenticator for my work account but use YubiKey 2FA for my personal account. In order to use this version of Cryptomator I had to add Microsoft Authenticator 2FA to my personal account.
Much better than old app
Cryptomator 2.0 is so much smoother to use than their old app and I really appreciate the free upgrade from the old app to the new. I love Cryptomator, great service and a great privacy tool! I’d highly recommend it to all that want to encrypt their cloud backups
Extremely bugguy
I deeply regret to have invested in both M1 Apple and Cryptomator, these systems do not really work together, either ipad or MacBook Air. I do not recommand.
