Möbius Sync reviews
3.7 out of 5, based on 485 reviews.
What people like
- Works well with privacy-focused tools like Obsidian
- One-time payment instead of annoying subscriptions
- Fast and reliable for large photo libraries
- Background syncing functions smoothly once set up
What they complain about
- Free version limits sync to tiny size
- Syncing other app folders fails on iPad
- Updates lag far behind the original software
- Restore purchase feature does not work reliably
Genuinely motivational
I don’t make reviews often but lowkey I’ll be honest, I don’t understand coding or anything techy like that. But I do understand that this man is a godsend. I will pay $5 so this open source project may continue in the name of privacy. I bought this because I needed a connected like cloud in between my devices without like a corporation peeping their head into my private obsidian .md files. So thank you. I hope this $5 is used to help you maybe with the license..maybe go use it for gas money, maybe a sandwich? A bag of chips? Either way it’s not my business. Thank ya chief, thank you for holding the line.
Don't bother
I bought the app. Had to reinstall and now I can not restore or re buy it.
a couple of frustrating bugs
When I go to add a folder, if I first add an external folder (outside the mobius sync folder) it creates the bookmark:xxx identifier as "file path", but when I add a "folder label" (the first text field in the general tab of the add folder modal) the file path is overwritten by your new label, you have to type a label and then select your external folder Also I deleted the default folder because I didn't need it, when my only folder was that external folder and I tried to sync, there would be no error, the file path would be correct, the state of the folder on my other machine would be correct ("3 directories, 500kb" etc) but nothing would appear on that filesystem. When I added a file on the remote folder, it showed up in the mobius sync folder on my iphone as if it was treating the default folder as the external folder. very screwy and I cried and reinstalled everything before getting it to work. 4 stars because once its setup it works smooth and i know iOS is a PITA so thanks for your work
Forgets Purchase if you reinstall the app
Worked great until I had to make space on my iPad for an update. When I reinstalled this app, it asked me to pay them again and wouldn’t ‘restore purchase.’ I’m not paying you twice, sorry. Shame, because it’s been nice to have syncthing with all my other devices.
Open external folder doesn't work
Title. Whenever I try to open a folder, and tap "external folder," it just doesn't work. No file explorer is brought up, no folder is created where I want it, etc.
best app in this category supports from algeria
than you
not updated
latest version with breaking chang
Works very good!
It does it’s job and i love it… would advice to work on the app logo because it looks kinda unprofessional.
Hardly free
Likely a good solution if you have maybe five txt files to synchronize. Putting all other functionality behind a paywall in a free app feels deceptive to me
Basics work, but buggy
The options to sync other apps’ folders or photo collections does not work on iPad. You can still sync from other devices to the Moebius’ folder, if that is what you want from the app. But you cannot backup your photos, for example.
Worth it!
One of the few apps I’ve happily paid for. Well worth the money to make sync thing work with iOS. I appreciate the pay once model rather than subscription.
Old Syncthing Version
I’ll revise my 1-Star rating when the internal Syncthing version 1.28 is updated to a 2.# release. Right now my iPhone can only see 1 of the 5 devices it’s paired with, and it can’t even sync files with it. The problem is all those devices are running Syncthing v2 and as they’re updated to newer and newer versions my iPhone has more and more trouble connecting with them. I could downgrade all my other devices to 1.28 but just no.
i can’t select other path
The application is very good, but can’t use other path, right?
accessibility is a must
please, please make this app accessible with VoiceOver? I'd testflite it if you want. But i'm quite sad.
Not upto date
We paid for this software which is based on FOSS syncthing. The least we can expect is to keep syncthing upto date here.
Great app!
This app is totally worth the few bucks to get the full version. I synchronize tens of thousands of photos (+40gb) in specific photo albums between my phone and my Windows PC. It works and it works fast! You don’t find software that works this well for free so choke up the few bucks and get this app that works amazingly well.
This app is useless without in-app purchases
Idk why the developer even made the app free. You can only sync 20mb with the free version. You must pay $5 for unlimited syncing. 20mb is so insanely small. There is no reason for the app to be free if that’s all you’re going to offer.
No updates for 7 months?
Thanks for the update. Old review: There has been no update for 7 months. It tends to compromise security. It is lack of syncthing’s new improvements and updates
Missing Selective Sync?
Unless I'm missing something, you can't selectively sync folders, which on a limited iphone storage is a must.
Works Great w Logseq
I use to sync Logseq on iPhone with a Mac and a Linux machine because iCloud wasn’t an option and it works great (you need to upgrade to the paid version but well worth it).
Paywalled for no reason
Useless-you have to pay to sync more than 20mb
Looks great, needs an update
No update for 8 months while Syncthing has had many releases makes me think twice about purchasing Looks like an update came a few weeks later! Can’t wait to try it, will update review.
Works with syncthing
Works with syncthing
Best way to get Syncthing on iOS
A big thanks to the developer and works well with Obsidian
stolen foss project
dev thinks its okay to charge for free software because they added 20 lines of code for basic os-level integration
Seems very promising
All it needs is photo sync, even one way, and this app would be perfect. Excellent integration of SyncThing, it works flawlessly so far from the first 7 minutes of use. This app really deserves advertising and recognition (that is is SyncThing) and hopefully it continues to get updates. Very good work so far!
Rarely updated
Functionaly it works. However, the actual Syncthing component is nearly a year behind. That is pretty poor.
Love this app!
Thank you, I love this app! But what is the difference between the purchase and the pro version?
Not voiceover accessible
I absolutely love syncthing on my desktop machines. It’s lightweight, fast, and once it’s set up it just works. I am sorely disappointed that I can’t bring that to my phone. I am blind and I use voiceover. I can’t make it past the splash screen. If I enable screen recognition, I can make it to the next screen where it appears to be something about notifications, but everything is unlabeled and broken. Shame
Overall pretty good - Any chance for an update?
So far has been a decent port of Syncthing. Update schedule is a bit slower if you’re waiting for the latest updates. Personally I depend on the “Untrusted Client” feature available in the latest version of Syncthing so I can’t use this fully yet. Any chance of an update soon? Thanks!
App size is 10gig plus
Why my app document and data is 10gig plus even I deleted all the folder in file app? This consume so much space on my memory storage.
iOS kind of limits its potential
Background sync works but iOS limits how often it can run
Unable to evaluate
This does not do what Syncthing should do: sync any file. You have to pay the developer for that, and there is no way to test that it works without paying. Hence, no reason to trust the developer and so I ununstalled it.
Doesn't Support Family Sharing
App is great. Wish the in-app purchase to unlock unlimited sync supported Apple's "family sharing" so I don't have to re-buy it 3 or 4 times just to use Syncthing to share files with my family.
希望加入对照片的支持
现在很多app都可以直接读取照片，希望这个也赶紧跟进，可以随时同步照片到其他设备上
Tight integration
Thanks for making this! Works exactly as I’d expect . Files synced and then removed when deleted This is better than sending all my stuff via iMessage !
Doesn’t work, don’t waste your money.
No matter what I do, when I click “open folder” it won’t take me to the folder I’ve designated for a synced folder. It takes me to the “on my device” folder, and when I manually navigate to the folder I designated, it’s empty. Under the panel in mobius, it claims that my files have been synced. But they’re nowhere to be found in the files app, no matter what I do or where I look. Extremely frustrating. There is no documentation whatsoever on how to properly set up folders, which I have to assume is intentional at this point. Just another iOS app taking your money in exchange for false promises. Extremely frustrating. I’d happily pay $50 for an app that legitimately delivered on the promise of bringing full Syncthing functionality to iOS. But sadly it looks like that will never happen. Unfortunately, I just have to accept that I’m stuck with iCloud Drive as the only working way to sync my files.
Syncing android to mobius is a challenge
To get mobius to sync with android, I had to disable auto accept. When möbius says android want to share a folder, I had to override the default ./camera to just camera. I could now sync android pictures to my iPad. Had to pay to get full sync, but the little sync they offered was enough to debug mobius and find a work around for this bug.
Indispensable
Because of iClouds limitations and a desire for privacy, I love this app! Helps me stay synced up throughout the house and family.
No updates - 10 months and counting
I paid money for this. Update it, please.
Needs to be open source
App is good, have no problem with the price but source code needs to be released. There’s no real excuse for not doing it, the amount of iOS users who would care enough to compile the app themselves would have no real impact on sales. And it is against Apple TOS to submit any GPL forked apps so there’s no way people will profit from your work. I see absolutely 0 excuse not to release the source code, especially since you have no issue profiting from a FOSS project to begin with.
