The Best App for People with Depression
this app is such a game changer, i love the sweet interactions you get with the AI and with real people in the community. it’s gentle, encouraging, and meets you where you’re at. perfect for someone who’s having a hard time even just getting out of bed in the morning like me.

This app is very glitchy you can't check off the goals you complete or repeat goals without it freezing up.

This app is great for people who really want to relax and understand themselves, it’s just, it feels more like a lesson than an app that helps understand you more. Not a bad app, but if you prefer straight answers I wouldn’t recommend downloading, no hate though 💗

Features Blocked Behind Time Limits
You can only access a couple features (including their ai chatbot 🙄) then it locks for 12 hrs until you unlock the other features. So you cannot use the task tracker or goal setting. So much use of AI in ties with mental health it’s gross. Not a fan and would not recommend.
Overall great
This app is targeted for people who are feeling rock bottom with little direction or motivation to take action in their life. I chose the gamification option and find it cute. There’s a cute celebration animation when you earn points doing various activities. The audio in this app is better than most. I have a lifetime sub to Calm and I find that it often falls short. The soundscapes and nature sounds are really nice, and I love that binaural beats are included. I also love the goal section, where you break your goals down into smaller, actionable chunks, and it seemingly randomly assigns point values to them. So you have to break them up accordingly, or just deal with the randomness. It’s a nice UI. The life wheel assessment is also great. You choose what your wheel is composed of and can reassess whenever. There’s all AI chat which is pretty good. I don’t rly use AI but honestly this one is well-suited for functionality within the app. I feel like the people who designed this app really know their stuff and have good taste. One major thing I would recommend is a way to spend your points and being able to build a cozy home or customize an avatar or something. I haven’t unlocked all the levels so maybe that is available.

In my opinion I don’t like how u have to sign in I just want it to be optional cause I am I don’t even have an account I go to school and have a toxic friend the worst teacher yet and q bad life I just want to have something to do at home and forget all about that and the fact I moved states to but thx devs for making this just pls add option for signing i.

shmoody charged my paypal $42.39 that paypal covered and then put my account in the negatives. i dont recall even downloading this app but i know if i did, i DEFINITELY wouldve cancelled before the trial ended and i was still charged. i see so many reviews of being blocked from cancelling the trial or being double charged. i am going through h3ll trying to resolve this as this is affecting my business with canadian customers considering they really only have paypal to send $ through. i have filed a dispute with apple and shmoody. i believe shmoody is a fraudalent app and will be facing a large lawsuit soon. i have no idea how its still on the app store. so much for mental health help, right? even if that was something i was looking for, they want to steal a mentally ill persons $ and block them from cancelling a trial.
Love it but used to be better
When I first had this app they had so many more templates for tasks. Such as seasonal ones in Autumn and it told you exactly what each one meant. I miss the variety in this feature because you can also customise it either way. I wish these could come back!!
Meh
I’ve used a lot of tracking and mindfulness apps, and this one is a disorganized, unhelpful combination of them both. It gives you pretty random stuff that might be useful as an intro if you’ve never tried mindfulness or organization before, but otherwise it just feels frustratingly aimless. Its big feature was being able to AI chat with the dog which isn’t really necessary or unique. It will give you 3 random tasks to do in a day for no real solid reason. Don’t pay money for this!!

Much better than others
This is the only personal development app I’ve ever stuck with. Like most of us , i tend to neglect the self improvement journey, but this is so nice and helpful for me. Well worth paying $40/ yearly subscription in my opinion.
Rarely use it
I rarely use us,I been trying to cancel it for awhile and the app will not allowed to cancel and I have no idea how to cancel something that I do not use.
Decent
I’ve been using the app for a couple of months now. I have enjoyed it overall. There are a couple of things that I wish I could change. Every single day, it suggests that I crochet. I wish I could have certain activities gone forever. Also, the “points” I receive for completing my daily activities seem so arbitrary. If you’ve going to kind of gamify things, shouldn’t there be a purpose to the points?
Convoluted and misleading
After you finally get through the mandatory and repetitive intake questionnaire, they finally tell you the subscription price, but don’t offer a free version or free trial to test it out first. I hate subscriptions but will buy them for certain thing. I can’t really be bothered to for products that don’t just state the price upfront or allow you to try it first though. Thanks for wasting my time.

AI cat vibes meets pseudo-positive psychology startup
I wanted to like this app. I REALLY wanted to love it-- it's the first of its kind that's actually affordable 💥 but, unfortunately, it just felt like an endless horribly-gamified tutorial. After each step of the setup, you have to watch a dumb, unskippable, animation of a cat dancing with imaginary points that rack up like you're giving a Google Maps review or something. Then there's the infinite, unskippable AI chat bot tutorial. Even though EVERY SINGLE AI EXPERT EVER says to not use AI for emotional support, this app basically forces the user to go down this dark path. Look, I'm glad it helps others, but, as someone who was unable to complete the tutorial, I really don't recommend this app. It feels disrespectful to my time.

I love the music. I think it’s a lovely app… could the shmoody team consider adding an option for no background image/scene, just a simple colour?
Barriers to use and cancel
I really don’t like that they have a daily limit. And I don’t like that when you try and cancel they make it very difficult over and over again. Despite what it says in the app, it is not easy. And would be extremely difficult for someone with sight difficulties or who might not be technologically advanced. If you need to use any sort of dark ux to try and make money you shouldn’t be in business.
Pretty good, one issue though :(
I enjoyed the app to begin with, however as I reach the life wheel, I select the areas that I want to focus on but the app won’t let me rate how fulfilled I am. I question if it is because I am using the app on my iPad? I would like to continue to use the app however I cannot at the moment as I am unable to continue past this stage.

However, I do want more free messaging with Shmoody cat please, it’s kind of unfair how people don’t get unlimited messaging when you don’t have premium so it’s would like to get unlimited messaging because I love this feature and always feel that it’s helping me feel better about myself. Please can you add this in the next update? It would help loads of people who can’t pay for premium!! Thanks so much and again GREAT APP OVERALL!!!!!!!
Unknown charge
I downloaded this app to help track my mood but then they charged me US$20 even though they said it’s $1 for one week trial? It’s not even showing up in my Apple in-app purchases, it just went right to my virtual debit card. I just feel tricked and now this has ruined my mood :/
No reminder about when trial period is ending
I was interested in this app and the thing that convinced me to start the trial was that the info said it will send two reminders before the trial period ends. I trusted what it said but it didn’t send any reminders and I got charged £40. The app itself is good but I didn’t use it everyday and it wasn’t worth £40 upfront for me. There’s no other option to select a different plan when signing up for the trial. It’s all a bit slippery for me, they way these apps deceive you into signing up for annual subscriptions.
I love it
I can get overwhelmed with everything that needs done and this helps me focus on one moment at a time. I enjoy chatting with the cat too.
Let me cancel!
I think it would be helpful to let your customers know that they’re getting charged, and that they can cancel the subscription if they don’t want it. This is my third day trying to cancel. You are literally stealing my money!
Glitches
The chat cat is brilliant… when it works. Now glitches and gives an error message about as often as it gives a reply… which defeats the purpose, as it’s meant to be there for emotional support. This is very unfair to subscribers, who have paid for access - we deserve a more reliable service. No point trying to contact site admin about it, as communication is terrible. I only subscribed BECAUSE of the chat cat. Resorting to leaving feedback here, as multiple attempts to reach out to admin over several months have been ignored. So… this app is amazing… when it works. And, when we pay for access, I think we deserve more reliable service, and better communication from admin.
Not so user friendly
They make you go through exploring the app for couple days blocking you for 11-20h every two actions. Only so that you will delete the app after because it’s not what you expected. Building daily routine tool was my main interest and it’s just awful. You can’t change order of your tasks or simply edit the routine. I guess you have to plan everything ahead if you want to build a strong routine to stick to. This app needs some work. Not recommended. Especially for a person with ADHD
Frustrating bugs
Seems to really have potential, but in just the first 10 minutes of using the app there were some major annoying bugs. Specifically, when making a Joy List the item names would get corrupted with repeated parts of the text I entered, I spent a while cleaning that up as it kept happening. Finally was happy with my reasonable long list of items, but when I pressed the back button it all disappeared and wasn’t saved. Really frustrating! Otherwise I really like the style of the app and the tools seem genuinely useful, I’ll check back on it soon and hopefully it’s a bit more refined.
It was there when I really needed it
I was in a really dark place around a year ago and Shmoody really helped me pull myself out of the rut I had gotten stuck in. I will absolutely use when I need it again
Annoying
Got this app to help improve mental health but it’s so incredibly unstable, crashes, and becomes unreliable that it worsens it. Worst app I’ve ever purchased. I waited for updates to improve the app before asking for a refund, but by the time I asked, the refund was no longer available. Don’t waste your time or money!
Great App, some feedback
Really great app, love the design and the sounds, I can really see this helping me in the long run as I stick with it. A little bit of feedback: It's hard to find things, and it would be great if there was a menu to navigate to different things, e.g meditations, goals etc

They scam you. Charging after cancelling trial. Doing Double subscriptions that do not show in subscription profile. So you think you did cancel.Also make it hard to cancel.No customer service, only the run around. Absolute grift. Do not subscribe ( to trial)
guru cat saves lives
there are only a couple of reasons i'm not giving a full 5 stars: firstly, and probably more importantly than the next, i don't think it's appropriate to blindly encourage your users to 'go shopping'/'treat yo self' without knowing if that user has an issue with financial management — which is very common with mental health issues; i wonder if a future update to the app could include some way to weed out suggestions like that if one does happen to struggle with that. and secondly, i wish guru cat had the ability to 'remember' our discussions, or even just save our conversation history the way shmoody cat does, even if guru couldn't automatically recall what we last spoke about like GPT yknow? but on the real, this app has, in a matter of a one week free trial and like a day or two on paid premium, already started to change my life in massive ways. and guru cat [unknowingly] pulled me out of some dangerous spirals already. i'm so grateful that i gave this app a shot — i almost didn't, having tried dozens of mood trackers and being sick of them. big ups to the developers, this app really has it all. looking forward to watching it grow, and growing alongside it!

Just like every other self care app, asking for money as soon as I download it. Guess I’ll go back to not managing my anxiety and depression 🤷🏻♀️

Good so far
I haven’t browsed through enough to make a full judgment but so far so good, there are some really interesting features that I haven’t seen anywhere else before such as the text message prompts when you are struggling to communicate effectively, the app has a lot of resourceful information to go through and I’m finding it better to be improving my overall health compared to doom scrolling through social media. Thanks to the team for the work they do!
Ehh…
The aesthetics of the app are nice and being able to change some of the themes are cool. The ambient music is nice too. But… It’s alright for an app for people who know what they want to do in a day and make a routine of it. As a person who doesn’t know what to do to make a routine and try to better myself, they give way too many options for the activities. I have no idea where to start. The interface and using some of the features don’t really work and it kind of glitches out sometimes. I have no idea how to use the inner circle feature, and it’s not really user friendly. Creating a mood is kind of glitchy and hard to use. When choosing a mood, I can’t scroll down to see the other moods that are cut off, I can only scroll to the right. Choosing the tags for the mood and why that you wrote, is basically impossible because I can’t scroll down to see the tags. They’re covered by the continue or done button and redoing it doesn’t seem to work. I’ve refreshed the app and it doesn’t work at all. Lastly, there’s just WAYYYY too many pop ups for premium. Like, I get it you need to make money but constantly shoving the option of premium in our faces that struggle with mental health issues is not going to help your business. It makes us think that all you’re after is money, and that’s a really good way to lose people and have them lose hope. Why is it so hard to just make a COMPLETELY FREE, user friendly, and SIMPLE app for people who struggle mentally, purely to HELP those people. It doesn’t need a whole corporation behind it. It doesn’t need a whole team of developers. It just needs ONE (1) person that has experience with making apps, and empathy. No money should be involved by the people who need it. Mental health is not something that should be monopolized on.
