I don’t miss DayOne at all
Imported almost 10 years of DayOne entries with no issues. The customizations available are great. Amazing range of import options. The lifetime purchase option supports Family Sharing! I am happy - especially happy to support an indy developer!

Crashes and loses entries. It’s 2025 and you can’t auto save an entry as I’m writing? Really?
Great App, Could Use Minor Improvements
I moved over from another app and love Everlog. I mainly wanted better Apple Pencil integration and while it’s better than others, it could use some improvements. Same for default journal. I can never tell what the app will select as journal for the entry. Write the text on Mac/iPad can be a bit hard sometimes with minor bugs here and there. Overall, this is a really polished app and has good privacy, recommended!
Time
Doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of the time. It's a dealbreaker for me so I'm deleting it. Too bad. Looked nice otherwise. Edit: Tried that. Doesn't work.
Okay looking app but clean
I moved from Day One and pleased with the simplicity of Everlog. However, the app is super boring to journal in and it is incredibly buggy in handwriting mode, crashing while I have the sketch mode open. Also, every little option is hidden behind the dots button. The bar for good interface is low these days and this app barely meets the bar.
Great Journaling App
I thought I’d already reviewed this app….but, I guess I haven’t. In Short - A great Journaling app. My main “critique” used to be not being able to export a PDF….but, they fixed that a while back. The app also looks great. No complaints whatsoever.
Works well
Works well on Mac. Works better on Iphone. Has its problems, (don’t use it as a knowledge base) better to use it for managing checklists and making short journal entries.
Fantastic app, clean design
This app is a breath of fresh air when most apps are full of bloat. Some improvements the maker can consider: 1. A better toolbar on the iPad. The current toolbar overlaps the entries feed on the left and makes it finicky to interact with. 2. Make it easier to scan the months and dates in the main view. It is hard to read the month / date in the feed when scrolling quickly. I.e it is not glanceable.

I used to really like this app, until all my entries got deleted without a chance to recover them.
Good with issues
I've really enjoyed this app and I have stuck with it for a lot longer than I have many similar applications. I even bought the lifetime premium subscription. But the annoyances it has are wearing on me. For example, on the macOS app, I can't write entries longer than five or so paragraphs, some right-click operations don't work correctly (like correcting spelling mistakes) and sometimes when I copy content from it, it's jumbled in extremely odd ways. The iOS also has issues. Sometimes it will freeze completely upon launch and other times it will let me type, but the characters will lag behind by nearly seconds. Normally, I might blame my phone's hardware, but I have a fairly new device and I haven't experienced these issues with other applications. It would also be nice if it supported GitHub’s flavor of Markdown and automatic exports to cloud services or GitHub repositories. Things I like about it: - It’s a beautiful interface/UX and a joy to use (when it doesn’t have issues). - Lots of neat features like journal entry prompts, tags, image support, weather info, location info, etc. - Passcode protected. - Supports configurable automatic and manual backups. - Daily writing goals and notifications for previous days. - Templates.
The place I go to think and feel
I bought Everlog a couple of years ago and I realized recently that it has become the first thing I open when I’m feeling something really big. I open up a big empty window and I just write everything out I’m feeling and I always feel like a new person at the end of that writing. The core UX is very well done and works and syncs reliably across all my devices. The macOS app has a few small things that bug me, but I’m guessing those are annoyances in modern macOS development instead of missing polish done by this developer. I think if more people sat down and wrote their feelings, this would be a better world to live in.
Price discrepancy / non-responsive dev.
I purchased an annual subscription during the Black Friday sale which offered a discount on the app. During the checkout process, when selecting which type of subscription you'd like, the wording of the offer stated: "try for free for 1 year, then $$.$$p/ year", creating a discrepancy between the offered discount promoted on the dev's recent Reddit post on r/macapps vs. the actual wording when selecting the subscription type. I did attempt to let the dev know via their Reddit post which has gone ignored. As such, I've chosen to not trust this dev moving forward.
Great markdown diary
I was using Five Minute Journal but wasn’t comfortable with the cloud sync. I tried Obsidian but decided to go with Everlog since I’m comfortable with Markdown. It’s great reinforcement to see that I’ve completed a writing goal for the day. I wish it had a habit tracking feature to see things over time. The “on this day” feature showcases an entry from that day either 3,6,9, or 12 months ago. It’s a great app, but some room for improvement to make it better.
Marked down
I completely disabled Markdown in the settings, but I still get the syntax in the entries. I just don’t want this. Also, not a big fan of the dark black background. The app feels cramped on my small phone. With that said, the subscription is fairly priced, and the functionalities are good.
App feels sluggish when writing long texts
The app becomes slow and sometimes unresponsive when inputing and editing long texts, and this issue exists on all the platforms I’m using, which means iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Aside from this issue, it’s a really neat and perfect journaling app, but this issue could nearly be a dealbreaker for me.
A Great App That’s Always Getting Better
An amazing journaling app that keeps getting better with updates. The recent addition of incremental backups is a huge upgrade for those of us with multiple journals and lots of attachments. Well worth the continued investment!
Thief
They propose a 1 year trial for free then 1 year subscription. However, they charged me 12.99$. I cancelled my subscription in less than a minute. Never again.

Markdown Is Distracting
I personally do not want to see any markdown while typing in my journal. I find it distracting and ugly for a meditation journal.
Sync is frustrating
I use Everlog on iPhone and iPad with iCloud Sync on. There are instances when data is lost or overwritten with old data. Each time I use Everlog on either device I must check the sync status and activity in Everlog settings. It is tedious.
Very nice
Easy on the eyes, and just the right amount of personalization. Imported data from a previous app and was ready to go.
Great app, but glitchy
Every time I try to upload videos, I get an error saying the attachment not synced…blah, blah, blah. I love the app, just needs an update to fix the bug. **update** I'm still having issues uploading videos and pictures to my journal entries. Some videos are not loading, and then when I try to fix the issue, the app crashes! Again, it's an awesome app, but it's super glitchy!
One Notable Flaw, Otherwise Fantastic
I’ve explored the ins and outs of this app and it’s everything I want it to be (the lifetime premium gives me confidence in its longevity, that and the excellent UI gives it an upper hand) with one exception. After about 400 words in an entry on IOS, any further words I type are invisible. They show on the keypad for spellcheck but it appears to coincide with the scroll limit and black border whilst editing a specific entry. I would very much prefer to have a single entry for each day, so this limit is a considerable problem for me. Fix it to at the very least not allow typing past that point and I’ll be more content with it. If it could allow and display longer entries (preferably up to 2,000+ words), then I’d be very happy for that. (It’d be 5 star material imo)
No option to print
This is much the same as day one, without the option to send to an airprinter or a variety of apps. Day One is limited in this way, but at least you can print an entry. It is intuitive to a degree, so is relatively easy to navigate. Overall, I would say this is adequate but limited.

I’ve been using this app for over a year at this point, and have over 100,000 words in it. It’s by far my favorite journal app that I’ve used. The most helpful features of that being that it’s cross-platform, and that it uses markdown. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a journal app to use! Bonus: It looks beautiful with liquid glass!

Great journaling app with markdown and suggestion integration
I’ve used a few journaling apps and this is my new favorite. I’ve tried 5 minute journal and obsidian. Things I like. - Markdown support. What you see is what you get. - Templates, bookmarking, nested entries. - Local saving. Everything stored locally or an sync using iCloud. - Reflection - Shows an entry from this day a year ago. - Metrics - Consistency in journaling. - Simple interface. - Support for multiple journals. I haven’t played with this yet. Things I wish it had. - More reflection options based on a fine-grained detail. For example, I created a morning reflection template with specific fields. It would be nice to see this section reflection. Another example, same template, I list a song that was inspirational for that day or things I’m grateful for today. Nice to have but not necessary. Great journaling or other notetaking app.

Eigentlich eine gute App, wegen fehlendem PDF Export für mich aber nur sehr eingeschränkt zu gebrauchen.

Das Fenster lässt sich nicht dauerhaft in der Größe anpassen! Bei jedem Neuöffnen geht es wieder ganz klein auf! 😡

I really want to love this app, but...
I've been using Everlog since last June (bought lifetime later) and it's my favorite journal app I've used so far, and I was really grateful that it had the one-time purchase option, which is increasingly rare these days. I like the big banner-style image previews in the timeline (as opposed to small square icons which seem to be the standard), and I also enjoy the ability to thread journal entries, which I haven't seen anywhere else. Having said that, I still keep eyeing up Day One, for the following reasons: Lack of export options - My journal is image-heavy. I use a handwritten note app (Notability) to make notes with some drawings, and paste a screenshot into Everlog. Currently the only export options are in text or markdown, no json or pdf options, so it doesn't help with my images. As much as I enjoy scrolling through all the entries I've accumulated, I feel apprehensive about putting in more content when I don't know when or if I'll be able to back up a PDF copy to my hard drive. Lack of views - many diary apps have a few ways to flip back through entries -- a calendar view with picture icons, a map view, or a photo gallery view. Day One has a lovely "wall" view in the desktop app -- if you click on a month, all the entries for that month will appear together in a cardlike format, which is really great for getting a broad overview of the entries for that month at a glance, not to mention very enjoyable and fulfilling to look at. Having only a timeline to scroll through feels fairly limited after a certain amount of entries, and takes a lot of scrolling if you want to review your entries for the span of a month or more. Right now I'm a little worried about the developer's priorities. I know he's a solo dev, so I don't expect new features to be pumped out at pace, but I don't see how integrations with Apple Vision Pro should come before something like pdf exports. And gallery views would benefit Vision Pro users too -- I haven't used one yet, but I don't imagine myself heavily reading or writing in my journal with one, I'd more likely be going through the pictures. One more nitpick: It feels a bit strange that the images in the main entry appear smaller than in the timeline? That's two clicks to see the full picture instead of one. Having them either embeddable inline, or as a carousel in a banner/cover (like in Diaro) would really help with this :) Anyway I really want to see this app succeed and I wish the developer all the best. It's still a lovely app with a lot of care put in, with features and design quirks that distinguish it from the big name apps. I /want/ to settle on it. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for now🤞

Come ho scritto fra tutte le varie app non particolarmente innovative -ed prezzi alti per quel che offrono- a questo punto conviene usare WordPress.com e crearsi il proprio diario segreto online.
Synchronisations Bugs
Die App ist insgesamt von Funktion und Bedienung genau das was ich gesucht habe. Leider scheint aber die Synchronisation mit iCloud extrem instabil zu sein. Ständig werden Einträge nicht synchronisiert und außer der Anzeige das ein eintragen nicht in der Cloud ist gibt es nichts. Keine Möglichkeit eine Synchronisation zu erzwingen. Und außerdem hinterlässt das keinen gutes Gefühl eine App zu benutzen die man wahrscheinlich über viele Jahre verwendet, dessen Sinn es ist die Information in ihr auch über viele Jahre zu erhalten, die dann aber Informationen bei der Synchronisation verliert.

nice app！When can the option of language selection be provide? The previous version was in English, and suddenly it's in Japanese. I don't see an option to change the language in the app. Although it doesn't affect the use, it would be better if there was a language change option.love this app~

Good experience with caveats
This is the app I’ve been wanting. The basic experience is pretty good. Some things are about odd like requiring custom shortcuts for some markdown insertion and the syncing seems to glitch. The writing stats doesn’t seem to work either. All of that said I’ll keep using it because it does what I want. I hope the little issues get corrected.
No la compraría de nuevo
Después de 3 meses usándola, estoy muy cansada de esta app. No sincroniza correctamente entre mis 3 dispositivos. Si estoy redactando un articulo más o menos largo, se enlentece hasta que no se puede escribir. Puede funcionar para pequeños escritos (menos de 500 palabras) o notas cortas, pero para eso está la app de notas que viene por defecto. Y aunque no parece muy importante, no da demasiadas opciones de diseño y con el tiempo resulta muy aburrida. Es muy cara para lo poco que la he disfrutado, Como no me gusta pagar suscripciones, compré la de un solo pago. Si pudiera devolverla lo haría sin pensarlo.

Quickly becoming my go-to journaling app
As someone who enjoys to having good quality tools to work with, I spend time comparing what's all available on the market to find the best suited tool for my needs. Everlog checks every box for me aside from lacking cross-platform capabilities, specifically for Windows computers. As a software developer I look for apps that are visually appealing, intuitive to use, respond quickly without performance lag, and perform their functions reliably without losing or compromising data. I also prefer tools to be cross-platform, have data export/import capabilities for backup management, and have a "lifetime purchase" option so as to avoid costly subscriptions. As I said before, Everlog checks all these boxes save for being fully cross-platform. That said, it does everything else so well that I'm willing to use it despite being inaccessible from Windows computers. I even took the time to boot up and restore my 10 year old Mac Mini so I could use this app in a desktop context. To conclude, my favorite UI design feature of Everlog is its incorporation of the color schemes in the smallest details of each notebook. The colors are a helpful visual indicator to keep track of the journal you're in.
No sincroniza las entradas
La app me encanta, pero me he suscrito y solo sincroniza las entradas entre el iPhone y mi iPad, no aparecen en MaxOS Ventura. No detecta que sea premium pese a tener una suscripción activa.
This is excellent
Why has it taken so long for me to find this excellent Diary/Journaling App? It's a mystery. Simple, lean and clean interface. Just the right balance of features and simplicity (an 'elegant simplicity'). Multi-platform support. Markdown! I've given it 4/5 stars only because it doesn't have a Help feature yet, either in-app or online. Some may find it useful if it was clear what Markdown is supported, or how '{placehold} syntax' works in Templates. But that's a quibble. Really, it's great.

Erkenne keinen Mehwert der App. Außerdem kostet das Abo 19,00€ im Jahr, um z.B. iCloud-Sync zu nutzen oder zwischen seinen Geräten zu synchronisieren. Wieder gelöscht.
No encryption
I love this app, but there is one major issue that prevents me from using it. For something this personal where you would potentially put details of your life and some of your most intimate thoughts, feelings, or ideas there should be end-to-end encryption at a minimum. Especially, in today’s climate. Something you write now would be accessed and used later. I would love to be able to use this app for what it’s intended for. It is a well designed app.

App macht Probleme
Ich nutze die App um Einsätze zu dokumentieren und zu zählen. Anfangs hat mir die App auch gut gefallen mit der Zeit merkt man aber dass die App mit mehr Text immer langsamer wird und die App öfter abstürzt, nach einer gewissen Zeit macht es einfach keinen Spaß mehr in der App etwas ein zu tragen und sie stürzt die ganze Zeit ab. Unter anderem stürzt sie ab wenn ich zu viel Text markieren will um ihn zu löschen und die Grundaufgaben sollte so eine App schon beherrschen
Brilliant. If just for one little bug…
Been using this for a few months now, and it’s great. Everything I wanted from a journal app. My only issue is for some reason, it occasionally turns off the need for a passcode and Face ID. Meaning my musings are not as secure as I’d like.

A subscription for this app? I like its minimalism, but cost adds up.
Guter Ansatz, leider nicht perfekt
Im Grunde eine nette App und ich wäre auch bereit, den vollen Preis zu zahlen, WENN das Programm ausgereift wäre. Ist es aber nicht. Das Programm gefällt vom Design und der Bedienung. Der Export ist extrem unhandlich und erzeugt für jeden Eintrag eine Datei. Alles in eine Text- oder Markdown Datei kann nicht exportiert werden. MarkDown wird nur teilweise implementiert, manches geht, vieles nicht. Linien wären ganz nett zum Beispiel. Schlimmer ist die Handhabung: * Beim Bearbeiten eines Eintrags steht der Datumscursor völlig wo anders. * Der Datumscursor steht auf einem anderen Tag, neue Notiz geht trotzdem auf heute. * Die Punkte unter den Datumseintägen sind manchmal weg, kommen erst wenn man drauf geht, man sieht also nicht immer, wo was drin steht. * Die rechte Anzeige springt erst auf den Eintrag, wenn man in die Liste unten klickt, nicht wenn man auf das Datum klickt. Alles in allem ein guter Ansatz mit unfertiger Ausführung. Bleibt unter Beobachtung, hat gute Chancen noch ein tolles Programm zu werden.
