IT's ultra flexible but also structured enough, and maintenance of todos is minimal. Honestly this is the best task management app I've used so far.
Offline equals no note access
If you don’t check-in with the server at least once every few days, you can’t use this app. I found this out when traveling and didn’t have internet access. I emailed Eduard (NotePlan) and he said something to the effect of “maybe we’ll test longer offline in the future” . So, you paid the subscription but if you don’t allow access to the noteplan server (even if you are not syncing noteplan) at least once every 3 days, you can’t use this product until you’re back online. This “Only Renting” movement has to stop. In this case, you paid your rent but still can’t get into your apartment because you didn’t say “Hello” to the building manager at least 2 times each week.
Almost perfect!
Overall, excellent app. I’ve tried nearly all of the markdown-based task/note apps and softwares. I think this is very nearly one of the best. It strikes an excellent balance between personal knowledge management (notes) and task management. Some features that I would love to see that others have… Obsidian’s graph view and canvas are unbeatable and Noteplan would benefit (at least visually) from a graph view (who doesn’t love seeing the volume of their work displayed like that?). Craft’s ability to nest/embed cards and pages within a page would be a great addition both visually and for decluttering the sidebar. Notion’s collections/databases for tables would be great both for organizing libraries of notes or projects. Noteplan absolutely nails the calendar note integration. It also integrates nicely with native Apple apps like Calendar and Reminders. Adding some of these other features would make it the app to rule them all. 4-stars because… while its great, without these other features the subscription price is just too high.
Baffling lack of basic features
NotePlan does not have a basic Mac share sheet extension, making it unusually cumbersome to add links to notes. (Meanwhile, its iOS sharing extension is extremely limited, so that’s not a substitute for a proper share extension on the Mac.) Unsurprisingly, users have been requesting this basic feature for literally years.
Low Feature Set
Expected a lot more after the hype. Very awkward UI. I am massively disappointed.
The One
If you’ve been endlessly browsing to-do list apps and migrating to a new one every few months, your journey may finally be over. NotePlan’s combination of notes, tasks, reminders, calendars, and personal knowledge management is the winning formula for me. I’ve tried all the usual suspects, including Todoist and Things, and migrated more times than I care to admit. NotePlan lets you build an intricate productivity system or simply jot down a scrappy list that stays out of your way. Best of all, it can be both at the same time. It’s a great system.
Unable to cancel trial
The app looked like it would be useful for some people, but specifically markets itself towards people with ADHD. I can tell you right now to avoid, it is not good for supporting ADHD. It didn’t appear in the subscription settings until after the trial period was over and it wouldn’t let me cancel before then. They are taking advantage of a disability. Unacceptable.

... mais pour l'instant elle n'est pas une option pour mon 'deuxième cerveau' car mes deux activités principales sont de prendre les mathématiques et la programmation. Il y a un moyen de mettre des blocs de code très simples dans les notes, mais sans préciser le langage. Il n'y a pas encore de plugin TeX pour les équations mathématiques. Je vais suivre quand-même l'évolution de cette application car en principe elle est géniale.
Noteplan is Awesome
Edward is a great App founder/developer. There are continuous improvements to this app and it has grown to be a well rounded, more complete note and task app in its current version. There is also a dedicated user base creating and improving plug-ins as well. Recent releases of somewhat similar vibe-coded apps are not nearly as complete or well thought out as Noteplan. I use Noteplan everyday to organize both personal and work notes and tasks.
Very difficult to learn don’t have the time to learn all of their coding
I really wish I had the time to learn this although I do not I needed something much more simple and every AI list told me this was the best of all of the functionalities I needed. Although it was not easy to use. I canceled my subscription, but I have yet to get my refund and I really would like a full refund so I’m working on that but it’s very hard to get someone to help you.
Excellent way to stay organized
A great app. I’ve been using it for about three years. It really helps me stay organized. I do wish that the right side bar could be configured a bit more. For example the ability to compress the hours of the day so that all of my events can be visible without scrolling.
It’s too expensive! It’s not affordable
The app is nice and useful, but £90 for a year is too much. Other apps have lifetime subscription and even it is twice cheaper that this one year app subscription. It’s too expensive. Make it cheaper and more affordable. I’m upset and disappointed

Recording and Transcription Useless
Recorded a live meeting. After, it gives options of what you want. I chose summary then the recording disappeared with no transcript. Worse is it provided it in Chinese even though I have en set for English in settings. I recorded that meeting with another recorder I normally used. English no problem. This doesn’t seem ready for prime time and cannot be trusted for live meetings.
Works so well
Having tried every combination of notes app and task app I have finally concluded that NotePlan gets it right. Having my notes and tasks and calendar together in a good looking, well made app works great for me and I really feel more in control of my time and energy. The developer Eduard is very responsive to all the questions I have had and is working hard to keep adding useful updates to an already excellent product.
Only yearly subscription
I trialled noteplan a couple of years ago and it wasn’t for me. A lot has changed since then and I wouldn’t mind trialling it again. Unfortunately there is no second trial option. There isn’t even the option to subscribe for 1 month. If I want to check it out now, I have to subscribe for a full year. I’m not rich enough to take that gamble so I have to give it a miss.
Great Luxury
I used the app for a week using my free 7 days trial. I love the app but cannot justify the cost of it on my student budget. It’s simply too expensive. Four times more expensive than the competition. Maybe offer student pricing?
WOWZA.
YES! FINALLYYY! Sheesh!!! It’s been YEARS now i’ve been searching for the perfect notes app. I use this all day long to capture anything I wanna remember. Makes organizing my random info/ideas super easy. It’s my new home base and life cheatsheet. Very excited I found this app.
Poor renewal status
So you do the 2 week trail and initially sign up for a monthly plan. Then it charges you for the year automatically Poor business practice. I’ve deleted the app simply because of this practice. Sham full. Bad business.
One more step to perfect
The app is phenomenal. I got to try it for a few days. One thing that makes it unusable for me is that fact that clicking Daily or Weekly in the left side bar changes the calendar navigation in the right-most side bar. So I will click daily or weekly on the left and the month displayed on the right will completely change. Or I will select a month and it wouldn’t show the task list associated with projects in that month. So the calendar navigation and aggregation system is to be revisited. If that is fixed, the app will be solid.

Needs to also support a monthly view of recently edited notes
Overall a very interesting app, but it needs to also have support for monthly view of recently edited notes and the ability to set a time of day like Morning/Afternoon/Evening, instead of just always needing to write down an exact time… in some future update.
Amazing
This app takes a little getting used to and a little work each day. However, the investment pays substantial dividends.
A half baked app
At a high price which after years of development still can't painlessly import properly with attachments and multi-select function is a dream. Interface complexity top notch. How did you justify the price I'm wondering?
NotePlan is the trifecta
The major advantage with NotePlan is the culmination of notes, calendar/events, and reminders…supercharged, integrated, and customized to my needs. I’m not boxed in to any particular design but can customize my experience. The devs are constantly improving the app and are active sharing their progress online. The web platform available for non-Mac users works well and I use it daily at work. I have confidence in NotePlan to be my “one system to rule it all.”
Wish I could justify this
Way way too expensive. I used it solidly for years but the price kept leaping up to a now-ridiculous level. Sorry; must offer my honest opinion.
An ‘out of the gate’ v1.0 early adopter says… No more!
App Analogy: In November each year, when the sales are on, if you score it right, you can get MS Office 365 Family (1Y) for £60-£70.00. Is this one app comparable in utility to all you get in that? No! I used this on/off with other apps from 1.0. At the beginning, the app took a good while to take shape & develop into the great app it is now. It wasn’t great to start, but I stuck by them. This is what really stabs you in the back - you stick by them through the whole phase of shaping it into something really good. You pay upgrades etc. then they decide to go native! App Store Native - follow the greedy examples of many, many other developers with hideous subscription prices they say they have to bill to ‘put food on the table’! Hmm! I feel let down Edu, I always admired you & the app from the beginning, but the ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ & Inflation is such I cannot unmitigatedly feed £/$/€ to developers anymore. Note to all developers: We’re struggling to get by each month. There’re many successful & popular apps on here that make plenty enough money each month & yet ask for more! STOP these ridiculous & from the outside, what appear to be unnecessarily greedy subscriptions. We don’t like being taken for fools or taken advantage of. If you all priced your apps realistically, you’d probably (paradoxically) get more customers & make more money!! A good app is deleted & I lose more faith in the creative markets of humanity. Everybody wants more money with these hideous subscriptions ‘experts’ advise them to monetise us with! Bye!
Just Right
When I just want to wiki some things, it’s great. When I want to kanban a project it’s great. Feature-full and flexible with an active developer. Kinda everything that makes small house software wonderful.

A good concept, but no free version and crashes
I think this app could have fulfilled everything I needed from a note-taking app, but it had two big flaws for me: 1. A short trial period and no free version to be able to use the app a bit more casually for a longer period of time (with a view to paying once I'm more certain) 2. The app keeps force closing unexpectedly when left open in the background. I'm on macOS Monterrey 12.5.1 on a 15" 2018 Macbook Pro. I would not expect this behaviour, and it renders the app pretty unusable when you go to check your notes and the app is no longer open because it has been force closed. No other apps on my machine are exhibiting this behaviour. It's a shame as I was really looking for a note-taking app with calendar functionality initially.
Indispensable
I’ve been using NotePlan for a few years and I can’t imagine using anything else. I tried so many other planning, note taking, and/or organizational methods, but ultimately couldn’t keep up with any of those systems. NotePlan is flexible. You can set it up in any way that makes sense for you and your use case. And you don’t have to go all-in to start — use it for simple scheduling, up to organizing everything. Utilize or add features along the way. Join the Discord group for more. Eduard continues to add and improve features often. Highly recommend.
the import
the import from Obsidian is just a bad joke. This looks like a half baked app in alpha version published and charging for it. All the links and attachments disappears when you import from Obsidian, UI is very gimicky. I mean wouldn't a select multiple note a basic feature which should be there?
Revolutionised my workflow
Bringing notes and calendars together, as well as tasks, has been incredible for streamlining my efficiency. It’s a beautiful app with a simple learning curve, although there’s also tremendous power available through deep linking, plugins, and filters. I wish I had the option to use Org-Mode files as well as Markdown!
Too Expensive
I really enjoyed Noteplan and I was considering resubscribing, but the annual subscription has doubled since I was subscribed. It’s $130 CAD and I simply could not afford that even if I wanted to.
Fantastic, but too expensive
What a fantastic app, everything in one place, simple to use, what isn't to love? Well done on making this work so well. Sadly is way too expensive, I would pay the annual cost for a lifetime plan, but not for a year, I just can't justify it. In comparison I bought Things when it released in 2009 with a 20% discount code, Things 2 in 2012 and Things 3 in 2017 so I've been using it for 14 years at a cost of about £200? Compare this to Noteplan, for 14 years, it would cost £1,330 if the developer doesn't raise the price. App subscriptions make the user and devleloper feel like more and more features need to be added to justify the montly bill, this leads to bloat, before you know it the app is also a blogging platform and has the ability to share short videos with other users. In my optionion this app is finished, as in it doesn't need further features. It is that good. If it was cross-platform I would buy it again too. I can't justify renting an app though, not at this cost.
My Most Frequently Used app.
NotePlan is my most heavily used app. I keep a lot of information in multiple folders. Accessing and working with the files is just wonderful. I use it in conjunction with Memo AI to record various meetings. This is absolutely a winning combination from Eduard. Very well done!

Too expensive!
I love the idea of this app. This is brilliant alternative to Notion. Match the pricing with Notion and you have lifetime customer! It’s way too expensive now! I wouldn’t complain if price of one year subscription (personal version) was actually lifetime one-time payment (for current version “3”). One complain about app itself on iPhone is that is too easy to change task status while trying to scroll. Make it two tap to complete / clear task or something.
Cannot live without it!
I have been using NotePlan for a couple of years now (after trying just about everything else on the market) and it has become my one-stop-shop for keeping track of EVERYTHING in my life!!! I use it to manage ALL the client projects I am working on, but also everything in my personal life from lists & daily to-do’s, to goal setting & planning, ideas, dates, logs, recipes, gift ideas, trip plans, my mom’s medical needs, etc. It is completely customizable in so many ways, which is what allows me to quickly & easily adjust HOW I use it as OFTEN I need to, in order to stay on top of things, as they shift & change over the course of a year or even a day! It is literally what helps me stay in control of things day in and day out, so nothing falls through the cracks. Life changes constantly, and so do priorities, and NotePlan helps me manage ALL of it.
The app is ruined
It was five stars all the way for years. I loved this program. Now suddenly, I can’t even figure out how to use it. Fortunately on my Mac, I have the old version, which is a delight to use, and which I own. I bought it, just like I bought the program on my iPhone. I seem to be able to use the program I paid for on my Mac, but it looks like I’m not allowed to use NotePlan on my phone anymore and I can’t sync up between my phone on my Mac. That was the whole delight of the app previously. It was on all of my machines. Now I am assaulted with a proposed “read-only mode“ or I have to pay £90 a year just to be able to read my notes. That is surreal. Bear is £15 a year and Drafts is similar. These are legendary programs. They are stunning. Does the developer of NotePlan think he’s created Parallels desktop or something? That is the same price for a subscription — an entire operating system and all the software with it, including Microsoft Office Suite. NotePlan is the same price as Parallels. It doesn’t seem to be connected to reality. And now, the new version of the app appears to have written over NotePlan 2 on my phone, which I owned outright — so now I can’t use it on my phone anymore, even though it was mine . He appears to have disabled ‘restore purchase’. I have never seen that before. And I don’t think that’s even legal. Please do not write a glib comment about helping me to find a workflow. Just please restore the previous app which belongs to me.
Brilliant digital bullet journal replacement
I’m using this wonderfully flexible app as a replacement for an analog bullet journal. However it is way more powerful and flexible than my use case. I’m really impressed with the developer; he addressed the problems with Setapp subscription and continues to develop this app in interesting and useful ways. I love the new Week notes facility and Synced lines are a very powerful feature implemented in a straightforward user friendly way.
