Weber Searwood 600
I have owned several pellet grills now and although I have only had the Searwood for about a month, I am extremely impressed. WIFI works great, better connection than what I had, get to temp quicker and hold temp well. I like the ability to sear. At 600 degrees you can truly get a sear similar to a charcoal grill. Easy cleanup and easy pellet dump. Great grill
Refuses to connect to my mobile device
The new fancy thermostat does not work.
Weber start
I think I should be able to start the grill as well as shut down. For that I would give 5 stars.. instead of 4 stars
2 Stars
Just bought the new Weber Summit Smart FS38X E and the grill itself is excellent. The Weber Connect app, however, has a constant annoyance: every time I connect, it keeps notifying me that the probe sensor isn’t plugged in. I’m an experienced griller and don’t use a probe every cook, I don’t need (or want) these repeated alerts. There needs to be a simple way to disable or ignore the probe-not-connected notifications. Please fix this or add a bypass option so the rest of the smart features can be used without the constant interruptions.
Decent app overall
App is sometimes wonky trying to see the grill online. I wish you could get grill temp alerts if it’s outside of the range you have the pellet grill set to. You get alerts with probes, why not one for ambient temp?
Perfect
I love all about it. Worth the money
App Required
First Grill (ex325) I’ve ever own that required me to download an app and need camera access to get the temperature gauge to display.
Easy to use
Using this today for the first time with my new Weber Smoque. Was easy to setup and it’s easy to change temperatures and timers or temp alerts. I just wish the app had a widget, could be exact copy of the Grill widget within the app but want to be able to see on home screen.
Abysmal WiFi Functionality
The app is great, but one of its most critical features has been left to exist in a broken state. Firstly, if you didn’t know (why they don’t make this clear) their network cards do not support anything other than 2.4Ghz frequency bands. Great (sarcasm). Secondly, the app fails to refresh the network list once connected, if you ever have connection issues and you need to disconnect and reconnect, it’s currently a total PITA. You have to reset the grill and forget it from your connected devices list in the app. This is high school level programming at best. Very disappointed in Weber for not being in top of this. Pay the money, fix the app. Like it or not it’s now considered basic functionality.
Would be GREAT but…
This app would be AWESOME but I think what’s really lacking is a Home Screen widget so one can monitor their meats without constantly opening the app. Opening the app constantly stops whatever audio I’m playing through my phone and it is quite annoying… other than that it’s the bee’s knees.
Brisket
Amazing
Puts the “stupid” in smart device
The WiFi enabled thermometer on the Spirit grill won’t take the software update required to work, Weber says they’ll get back to me in 48 or so hours, and the grill won’t work without the thermometer taking the update. Useless technology - ruined Father’s Day. Weber brand used to mean something, sad to see a good brand in the toilet
Weber Hear Me Out - Alarm
The app itself is great, intuitive, and there are really no complaints on my end. That said, I have the Weber Searwood XL…. Literally my first overnight smoke I receive an error (E20) which stopped my cook. It didn’t say when it stopped…what caused the error…but needless to say I have some PTSD when it comes to overnight cooks. If there’s any way to have an alarm go off on your phone in case this does happen while you’re asleep would be very helpful. Or just in general. I’m honestly shocked that’s not a feature. I imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult to do via an update. If folks don’t want it…give is the ability to toggle on or off.
Can’t connect App to Controller
Consistently can never get the app to find my grill controller. Always have to unplug and restart but also will still lose connection. Both app and grill on same WiFi.
Ok.
I love my Weber. But the connect app needs some updating. Add some features. Ie add a page for fuel. I know there is an icon but it’s small and hard to read Things like that would help me use it better. Make it a little more like the meater app
Great product
Great combination of grill and smoker, who would have thought? Easy to maintain, excellent program for operations and well built.
Need to take lawsuit action against Weber
Bought their pellet searwood grill, pellet grill didn’t work from day one, called Support service three different times, every time they tell you they will email you within two days, three days later they email you with basic instructions that you already know from reading the manual, if you call them and call specifically the pellet department they say they aren’t the pellet department and offer no service clearly the only way to get this company to stand behind its product is a lawsuit
App Request
The app is great, the SearWood 600 is great however, please add an OPTION to keep the iPhone screen on when the app is running during a cook. Both my Pit Boss smoker as well as my Camp Chef smoker both had this option in their apps and it’s very convenient.
Searwood XL 600 interface and control
Fairly intuitive to use . No cook history available . No alert history available . Seemingly no ability to connect to a loud alarm that will wake you up during an overnight cook if temperatures are reached or if they dropped for some reason.
Live Activity and Critical Alerts for iOS needed
The app works well, but misses out on two key features the competition (MEATER, for example) already has. Live Activity support on iOS would allow me to see the status of my cook without unlocking my phone or opening the app. Would make checking progress on long cooks a snap. Critical Alerts would give me the option to know if something has gone wrong in my cook, even when my phone is silenced or on DND - a necessity for overnight brisket cooks. The technology is there, but the Weber Connect App is behind.
Done perfectly
Using the temperature probe and software on my phone is amazingly accurate. Great design job.
Support communication
I have not received a response to my previous ticket from over a week ago. My Smokefire grill reaches dialed in temp but then drops and goes into shut down. No open lids pellets are new and loading. $1000 grill should work flawlessly. This does not and no help from Weber.
Good app but needs more
My Meater+ app can give me live updates on my lock screen but the Weber app doesn’t? Weak.
It works but some flaws
I’m tracking a slow cook, not a recipe in the app, and I’ve been using other apps. It restarted, and I lost the cooking graph.
“Smart” Recipes
If only the individual recipes allowed you to change the Doneness level and the Weight. They are selectable options but the only one available to choose from is Well Done and whatever the default meat weight is in the recipe. Why?
Why couldn’t cooking always be this easy ?
Just bought our first Weber pellet grill after a long life of cheap grills. This new technology is a game changer. I have always over/undercooked everything and have never felt confident enough to say I am a good cook. This app and grill just changed my mind. I have cooked three meals from the Weber connect app. I followed the clear and simple step by step instructions along with the temperature probes and timers in the app and it has been amazing. Stop being cheap ( like me) and just buy the grill that uses this app!!! You’ll thank yourself later.
Connectivity issues
Lots of issues with the grill to the app. Also can’t seem to upgrade firmware at all
It works great overall, this is the only problem.
It needs a better range of connections to the phone
Needs historical temperature graphing and Apple Watch support
I really like the Weber Connect hardware. However, as others have said, the app needs historical temperature graphing and Apple Watch support. The iGrill app has had those features for years. I don’t understand why they were left out of this app. Weber…I hope you’re listening to your loyal customers.
Needs better alarms
For many of us - we do overnight cooks. A simple, repeating, louder alarm to alert us from our slumber for low fuel or temperature problems or other problems would be a welcomed addition. The alarm is now but a little jingle jangle and really could use improvement. Different alarms for temp reached vs low fuel would also be helpful. There is no alarm for low temp and also recommended.
Great App! & Great Grill!
10 out of 10 would recommend!
Want it to work
Not sure if the updated firmware is bad. But cleaned grill and temp won’t go above 450
Small changes needed
App does a lot right but 2 things limit it. 1. Not being able to set alerts as alarms. Give us the ability to make a constant sound instead of one ding. Particularly for over night cooks 2. Having to scroll to set a time instead of just entering a number like in all other parts of the app
Just ok :(
I want to love all things Weber but this is an unfortunate step backwards from it predecessor Weber iGrill app. While I appreciate the wifi compatibility of Weber Connect we’ve lost graphing of temps over time and, even more disappointingly, no more Apple Watch compatibility. I used to appreciate just checking my wrist for quick temp check and notifications. Now I need my phone all the time. Come on Weber… you can fix this!
Good app with some obvious issues
Why is it 4 taps to get to adjusting temp, this should be priority #1. Also the customer support email feature goes unanswered from within the app.
Weber 600
Best and best
So hard to use
This thing just shuts down and you cant do anything about it but let it shut down and then fire it up again. Weber tried too hard to be to high tech.
Great App, Missing HomeKit Support
This app is pretty good overall, but it could be better if it had HomeKit support. It would be really nice to be able to see probe temperature and be able to control the grill via HomeKit. It can work the same as the door locks etc requiring a prompt to be accepted and I think that would mitigate any risks.
Igrill app is way better than weber connect
Why weber dont use is igrill app for the weber connect? I use both and igrill is userfriendly and keep logs and graph of cookings. Connect is a better thermometer but comes with a very bad app. Should it be a solution to transfer the connect in the igrill app?
New update
What happened to manual mode on the app? Or smoke-boost button? Why takeaway key features or where did they go on the app?
Steady temp
Holds temperature during all cook conditions, fast recovery to set temp after lid has been open to adjust food. This is the 4th smoker I have own, it will be the last. I’ve had this unit 2 years and after 15 cleaning it looks brand new. Great smoker Johnny
Will not update
You’re a grill company, maybe stick to grills. Clearly tech isn’t your thing, it will not update it at all, absolutely useless I will be contacting support for a new smart knob.
Frustrating flaw
So I just finished 4 briskets and there is an design flaw with the app not retaining cook temperature history. I woke up to find out that the grill was out because of running out of fuel and I did not hear the alarm go off. Shouldn’t have been a big issue as the internal temperature of the briskets was been 150 and 160. So I added pellets and fireed the grill back up a to finish the cook, however because I had no way of knowing what the internal temperature go to before the grill shutdown I ended up drying out 2 of them. Developers please add the ability to persist the last x number of cooks.
Weber Connect
Need historical temp trend data. My old igrill had this. Seeing where temperatures have been, where they might be trending is so helpful. This I would think is an easy interface feature - plus its been done before and now seems like a lost feature for igrill.
Love the wifi, prefer the iGrill app though
Miss the graph! There also doesn’t appear to be an Apple Watch version of the app which iGrill does.
Best Wi-Fi I’ve ever used
Set up was very easy, no fuss no the whole thing I don’t like about. It is the off and on but on the unit itself, but I can live with it.
App does not work
Have a brand new grill go to add the thermometer to the app so it works. Says the thermometer needs an update to work. So I try to update it about 20 times update fails every time. Grill is connected to WiFi and Bluetooth still doesn’t work..
Tight and stable
App has a robust feeling to it, allowing me to let go. Definitely needs ability to self-label timers and probes, as working with multiples of each requires too much memory recall of what each were for, especially when glancing at the app with beer in hand. Optional history/graph of temp over time since a probe's start would be a nice touch to understand more about a cook, including finish times
Not user friendly
Really dislike how you have to change the phone settings to get the app to change from Celsius Fahrenheit. This should be controllable in the app.
Some great features however some big gaps
The app is easy enough to use. Set up takes a couple of hours - initial bluetooth pairing, then wifi connecting, then hub updates which took the most amount of time, and hub charging. It took my hub two updates, and it requires some attention. I haven’t used the recipes nor step by step guides, only temperature thresholds and timers. Being able to monitor temps on long smokes, roasts, and short grills is 100% stress free. I can do other things. Upper temp threshold very handy for vent adjustments and food check. Timers also useful, I set up as many as needed. However temperature needs a history graph and lower threshold as charcoaling has so many variables to calibrate vents and fuel burn. A little log / journal even just notes for the current cook would be nice also. Swinging for the fences here, how about keeping history & photographs? Sharing results? As it stands: not workable for overnight smokes. Good enough but oh so much potential.
