Better than other apps
I had Readwise and Pocket (RIP) and out of those two I like this one best. It has a much cleaner set-up, its easy to export and import articles, and I can use it on all my IOS devices or as an extension. Really glad it’s not subscription based as well
I want to love this, but seriously … .?
Why cannot I see the finder menu items when I open the app? All I see is the default finder and I don’t even see a settings button in the app. What’s going on here?

Quite good app, bizarre interface
A good app ruined by the near-invisible super-faded grey colour of read items ! I mean, they're truly unreadable! With no option to customise that colour. And the strange ‘whole page left swipe’ navigation to return to the overview? Why just links? Why not notes too? Having to export everything and use something else. UPDATE: What have tags to do with my review ??
Could be improved
The app does most things well, but its weakest core functionality is definitely parsing. For example, there are issues capturing code blocks and some UI components, which really degrades the reading experience.

Hey! How do you create Folders to organise my links? Tags are good but folders is must have! Hope it's comes in future update.
buggy chrome extions
Very disappointed with the Chrome extension. It repeatedly logs me out and requires me to sign in again for no reason. This breaks the workflow and makes the app far less useful than it should be. For a paid app, I expect much better reliability. Please fix this.
Needs Web Version & Better Highlighting
I use GoodLinks regularly and it has become an essential tool for me. Introducing a web version would significantly enhance usability and flexibility across devices. One area for improvement is the highlighting feature. Currently, accessing colors requires additional clicks after selecting text. It would greatly improve the user experience if color options appeared instantly upon text selection.
A must-have app for anyone who reads online
GoodLinks is a beautifully designed, lightweight, and powerful read-it-later app. Saving articles is quick, the reading experience is excellent, and the organization features are simple but effective. I love that it focuses on privacy and ownership instead of forcing subscriptions or unnecessary social features. It feels like having my own personal reading library across all my Apple devices. A fantastic app and absolutely worth it!

Rating GoodLinks post-Pocket
Goodlinks has been a serviceable substitute for Pocket. It is easy to use on mobile apps and has an extension that works on PC browsers. It’s tag system helps but, for me, things I’ve saved are not as apparent as in Pocket’s more visual display and while you can save things to Goodlinks thanks to the Chrome extension when you spot an interesting article on the web you can’t read what you saved on a PC

Solid App But Needs a Few More Features
I have been using Anybox for a little over a year and, with the need to purge and tag many links, I decided to give GoodLinks a try as a replacement. It seems to be much more consistent at updating the newest additions made on my iPad to that of my Mac without the need to close and reopen the app. With Anybox, I have to remember to open it on the iPad before I move over to the Mac so that it reflects the newest additions there. Not so with GoodLinks. With the app open on both devices, it only takes a few seconds to appear on the Mac after adding it on my iPad. Plus, the interface is much cleaner. However, it lacks a few features that would make it a perfect alternative for me. First, Folders, specifically smart folders. That would be very helpful when adding content to GoodLinks from, for instance, my news reader. I would like the ability to have smart folders just below lists and above tags in the sidebar that I could use to sort incoming links into a temporary repository for those that need to be tagged at a later time or that I want to share with someone else. Also, when displaying a link from Instagram, all that’s displayed is text stating that “This article is not available offline” with the buttons “Download” and “Open in Browser.” It’s often not enough info to remember what the reel or post is about. This issue seems to be limited to Instagram as it’s not a problem with YouTube videos. And, finally, the app seems to have difficulty in displaying some articles, including lots of extraneous images like giant size play buttons and direction arrows. Article display leaves a bit to be desired when compared to how it’s presented in most news readers. If these issues could be remedied, this would be one killer app. Unfortunately, it’s not a good option for me as it stands.
Awesome
This app has it all over Instapaper. It collects so much more information while still cutting out all the stuff like ads and everything and making it into a readable article like format.
So buggy
Pull down is search??? Instead of refresh? I have to restart the app multiple times to get my articles? And this new version STILL has the bugs that it doesn’t save my articles when i share from safari and it just keeps spinning. I’m going to build my own software, this should do ONE thing and do it well but it keeps breaking with stupid junk to try to get people to pay a subscription. A subscription to read an article later, maybe. If it works.
new tag-searching method
okay when searching for a tag for a link, can we pls not have every letter of that's possibly in the tag highlight the same color as our accent thems? it makes it harder to read potential tags for links. the old way better, but this can mostly likely still be tolerable if we can get rid of random letters turning colors. app's been great last few yrs, this is a weird UI design choice tho. thx team
App bought but now asking for subscription
Bought and paid for the app a couple years ago only to log in today to find out that they’ve started an annual subscription for new features. Not cool.

Minimal, fast, simple, the best
Been using GoodLinks for about 4 years now and can’t recommend it enough. It’s everything one could need. Love the export and highlighting support when it comes to markdown & other formats.
What’s going on?
This app was my favorite until recently. Any link I attempt to open from the app, regardless of browser selection choice (in-app vs default), the app immediately crashes upon loading the link. All URLs are working and recently added (not broken/can be navigated to on any separate browser app). Please fix this and I will be eternally grateful.
Almost replaces 2 categories at once
Beautifully designed, simple and fast. It parses articles and any text immaculately. You could use it as a Pocket/instapaper (read later) replacement, or as a Raindrop/Pinboard (bookmarking) replacement. Unfortunately you can’t really do both at the moment because there is no folder system to separate the functions - please add them developer :) Also missing is the ability to save images or PDFs to it in addition to articles. But overall, it’s so nice to be able to perform these functions via iCloud and not someone else’s servers. I hope it keeps improving. And thank you for the very fair and reasonable pricing system

Easy read-later app
I used Pocket until it was shut down. I found this to be a good replacement. I often scan headlines quickly during the day and save articles to read later, without all the visual “noise.” I like the ability to change font size, make notes and to highlight passages for easy reference. I also like the ease of creating and assigning tags to articles so that you can find them again easily. Really no complaints. Updates bring improvements and further options.
What is this?
It worked fine when it wasn’t being poked and prodded by the devs for well over a year, then an update drops out of nowhere and ruins everything. The only thing that does work is the pop up begging for my money.
Valuable app
I’m finding this increasingly valuable, especially now it has Hookmark support
Search has changed... not for the better.
Up until recently I was able to search for a word and any article that had the word would show up in the Links column. It worked like a filter to only show relevent articles. This was so very helpful for quickly searching topics and showing articles that I could skim though quickly by just tabbing down through the displayed results. What happened to that?! Now I do a search and recieve a popup list and can only view one article and select one article. I am then forced to research again to find a second article. So annoyed and saddened by that as I was using Goodlinks as a repository of my articles and almost like a second brain. That usefullness has been removed. I had also used search to help with filtering articles that I would then select all and give a tag to. That usefullness is now also gone. So sad.
Halfway Concept
Unbelievable that you can't change the size of the user interface type elements, as you can those of the actual web pages. But more subtly, the app somehow gives promise, yet once in your hands, with all the 'premium features', it reveals itself as neither one thing nor the other. There's the linked page in front of you, yes, but, you think - what if it disappeared online? Well, you can export it to PDF. But you have to remember to do that deliberately - it's not part of the idea. Which app would host the PDF? Why should I have to remember to export it? So is the app just a slick a collection of bookmarks? Or ... what the heck is it? And then it hits you: the app you really want is one that retrieves the web page AND produces the very best PDF version, in case the page disappears, and this isn't that app. So then you're back with the god-awful interface of DEVONthink, or better, Keep It, but still wishing that those two could be fused into one. And so it goes on.

I haven’t found any flaws and it does what it’s supposed to do. I save links and read them later, most in-line. Great for research of any kind. Kudos to the Developers!
Zero stars
Sorting by recent usage. Worst decision ever. The last thing anyone wants to do is try to find something by usage. Unusable without alphabetical sorting.
How do you Tag
Really like this app but how do you tag an article that’s saved? I’m using the app in iOS but can’t see how you tag, create tags etc? Please help.
Great iOS app let down by broken desktop experience
The iOS version of GoodLinks works well - however the desktop versions web clipper has been broken for a long time on all browsers due to its requirement to sign in with iCloud Drive not working. This unfortunately makes the experience of clipping and accessing content on mobile rather clunky. I contacted their support several times and the fix (replacing their web clipper) seems to be low priority.
Some problems need to solved.
It shouldn't even show up in the widget settings section. If there is a link that I don't want anyone to see, even if someone accidentally enters the screen settings, they can see that link. - When we turn the phone sideways on the main screen, the screen rotates. No problems so far. But when we make it vertical again, it automatically goes to the list of which tag was used last. - You clicked the link and opened it. There was a video on the link and you turned the phone sideways and watched the video. Then you made the phone upright again and closed the connection. When you go back to the list of links, the list is shifted to the side. - Not showing preview images in most of the websites - The option to request a password when starting the application can be added. - Every time I add a link we have to manually select it as read. There must be a setting to have mark as read turned on by default.
Excellent alternative to Pocket and Instapaper
Superb! GoodLinks, Pocket, and Instapaper must have different algorithms for different sites/sources, and none of these captures every site, but overall GoodLinks manages to capture better than most alternatives on most websites. None of these capture Apple News articles well (or at all). (Maybe I need to log in to my Apple ID account via GoodLinks?). The best Apple News capture tool I've encountered is the Notion-built share extension. Would love to see GoodLinks add a built-in text-to-voice reader like in Instapaper or Voice Dream Reader.
Doesn't download pages
The app is totally unreliable in terms of downloading pages. Ninety percent of the time, the app gets stuck at 0/number of remaining bookmarks and doesn’t download anything, even after hours of running. Restarting, reinstalling the app, and reinstalling the Mac had no effect. I submitted a support request via email a week ago but haven’t received any response yet. The next version needs better log files that are actually readable and useful. Also, why do I have to share a log file and send it to “Notes” just so I can view it? Why is there no “Save As” button? I had very high hopes for this app, but the lack of functionality and the lack of response from the developer have made me reevaluate my expectations.

When selecting import the app crashes
Good fundamentals but lacking
2 years in and while this app does the base thing of saving articles great, it still does not have features such as highlighting and notes, video transcripts or summarisation. It’s hard to recommend when the competition has caught up with GoodLinks and is already beyond.
Teething Problems
Downloaded on a review recommendation, really should know better. My first attempts at saving two well known tech sites weekly update pages (displayed in card layouts) failed miserably. The app missed several articles from the beginning and end basically capturing the middle third only. I presume it considered the missed cards ads? It may be fine for more text based layouts at this point I lost interest as something that works sometimes is not really much use as I can not trust it.

Was sad when Pocket went belly up. Glad to have found this app.
Not universal purchase
Bought this on iPhone to use on iPad and Macbook as well Downloaded on iPhone and iPad. When trying to download on Mac, it wants £4.99 again Not a universal purchase app and this wasn't explained in the description, where it alludes that it's a single purchase for all devices I stick with Raindrop.io and get a refund for this
Keep improving - your’re getting there!
Lovely app from a small developer who is doing a brilliant job. Continual updates will likely see this established as best of breed. My priorities for the project backlog: 1. Allow manual sort (right now, it is only by newest or oldest). 2. Dedicated tag editor UI. 3. Ability to reassign tags (replace, etc.). 4. Export as PDF (rather like Markup in Safari, on one long continuous page). Excellent app and highly recommended.
Not everything works
I have not been able to log into Pocket and import my items I have saved there. Also, the Chrome add-on doesn't seem to work if you have advanced data protection enabled. I personally am also missing folders.
Love the UI !
Really like it ! But should be possible to highlight some text or edit the text when we downloaded it ! And also be able to create folder to categorize articles that we want to organize. It would be perfect then !

This app helps keep me offline! When I see an interesting article from a friend or in an email, I save it to GoodLinks… and never have to return to the web to read! Saves my focus and my sanity. And the new highlighting feature is epic!!
I just don’t get it
Read the great reviews and downloaded to try it. Well, I can’t find a user guide. I can’t use its interface intuitively. It’s several steps to save a safari link. I can’t see how to use share extensions, despite everyone talking about it. I can’t see how to edit actions to bring GoodLinks up front in actions. Safari bookmarks is way easier. I can’t see how to import my links from other key apps on my iPad or PC. Given I’m a tech pro, that’s a total fail-to-start. Pointless.
Good on first acquaintance
Impressed. Good layout and choice of themes. Some imports still have unnecessary ancillary matter which wasn't there with Instagram but the filing system is much better.
Nicht das Gelbe vom Ei
Ich brauche eine einfache Read-Later-App. Die Safari-Funktion ist schlecht, weil sie die offline Speicherung nur selten funktioniert. (Man findet in den Apple Support Foren den Hinweis, dass es eben Websites gäbe, bei denen es geht ... und andere eben nicht). Goodlinks löst das Problem auch nicht. Zum einen ist die Sync Funktion zwischen Mac und iPhone deutlich unzuverlässig. Auch über Tage hinweg bleiben unabgeglichene Einträge. Auch die offline-Speicherung funktioniert nur zufällig. Hinzu kommt, dass bei Goodlinks häufig Probleme bei gemerkten Artikeln hinter einer Paywall auftreten. Da wird dann nur der Teaser bis zum Einloggen gespeichert. Alles in allem. Gut gemeint. Klappt aber nicht.
Mac App needs work.
App shows a lot of promise but it still needs some work to make it my go to read-later app, espeically on the Mac side. The whole Mac app is buggy from top to bottom and not really useable. Looking forward to updates.
