‘Tis Perfect
Simple and beautiful~ c: I use it more as a to-do list, but it does the job nicely.
meh
not worth the subscription when something else is once off payment and just as good if not better
Songwriter
I write my lyrics on it. Great for writing anything Lyrics, To Do lists, book ideas and any weird thing you can think of,
Widgets Slow Refresh
The notes widgets refreshes super slow. So slow actually that the only time it’s refreshed is when i manually resize the widget. Really bad, for an app like this to have such bad performance especially when it’s all about quick note taking
cannot save dark mode setting
I tried to change theme to dark for more comfortable viewing but when I swipe to return it reverted to light mode
Quite possibly the greatest Apple ecosystem app ever.
I say “Apple ecosystem” not just “iOS” because I use this on four devices - yes, even my Apple Watch, when I wear it. Single greatest markdown processor, absolutely beautiful, syncs immediately… I reluctantly use gDocs when I have to, I use Craft for some things, but Minimal has become my go-to. I’ve used it for interview notes, project tracking, a TON of business proposals (surprise: many clients actually PREFER a simple, concise, plaintext breakdown over flashy interactive guff!) - I can’t think of a single negative thing to say about Minimal. I’ve been using it since its first publicly-available TestFlight build; it’s become a truly indispensable part of my day to day life. A true gem, 11/10.
Nothing more (actually less options) than the free iPhone Note App
They want an exorbitant amount of money for an app that offers less than the free iPhone app. such a waste of time.
Pretty good! One issue
The issue is pretty small but very annoying. You have to scroll all the way down each time you open your note. As someone who writes a lot, this is incredibly annoying. But it is pretty great! You can publish a link that updates while you write, as far as I’ve seen there’s no ai directly involved, and it’s pretty easy to use. Love this app but would love to get my problem fixed.
Doesn't deliver
Sharing as markdow, as text, etc all do the same thing. Idk if devooer even knows what markdown is because it serves no function here. There are other small things that could be improved,!but that was a dealbreaker.
No History? No “Shake to undo?”
I’ve used Simplenote for about a decade, but I keep coming back to Minimal because it’s way more beautiful. The absolute dealbreaker is the lack of a history (or Shake to undo). If you delete something on accident, you’re screwed. This app is so close to perfect, but this is an absolute necessity that isn’t available in Minimal. With it, it surpasses Simplenote as the GOAT. Without it, there’s no reason to settle when there are dozens of note taking apps that don’t have this fatal flaw.
The Real Deal
I’ve tried several minimal / markdown writing apps. This app is easily the best I’ve found so far. It’s both simple and thoughtful, and truly minimal in its design: no nested windows, no tags, no fluff. I’m not a huge fan of subscribing to software, but it’s not uncommon in this space, and so far there’s value for money—so still five stars. One wish: is there some way to turn off the red squiggly line of the spell checker, or turn spell-check off, or (at a minimum) add a word to a lexicon of words? It’s a real distraction in an otherwise lovely writing experience.
Was pretty good, until…
App worked pretty nicely. Loved the minimalist aspect of the interface and writing. Markdown was extremely easy to use and stayed out of the way. All was great until I changed the sort order to drag and drop. App immediately crashed and would never open again. Removed and reinstalled. Nothing. I could long press the app icon to create notes, but would immediately crashed once you exited note to main list. Was a pretty great app for the 30 minutes I got to use it.
I Enjoy The App But There Are Some Bugs
I really like the app, the very simple formats. With a nice to look at font that’s feels great to write with. But when I write for some reason the screen just turns white and I can’t see what I’m writing
I enjoy it when it isn’t quitting
I enjoy the features of this app and how it works on various Apple devices. But, it quits on me daily when I’m on my laptop and I keep losing work. This is frustrating and the opposite of allowing a flow state in my writing. It’s a good idea, but not delivering on its promise due to bugs.
I suggest it
I suggest this but there’s some flaws in my opinion. How you can’t pull up 2 sections at the same time and how the writing tools like to act up.
The Best!
As someone who didn’t even think I needed a note taking I now cannot live without it. Beautiful intuitivetkrjj kk get design. I especially like the ability to send a grocery list to my wife that crosses out items after they’ve been marked.
Frequent crashes
Crashed 3 times while trying to write a 5 min journal entry. Crash log mentioned NSSpellChecker so could be happening every time I misspell a word. Currently too unreliable for me to use.
Good, but I have one wish.
I really enjoyed this, but I stopped using it when I couldn’t use it on something that’s compatible with my Windows computer, which is something I can do with the built-in iPhone notes app.
A Minimalistic iOS App that Simplifies PhD Research
I found a simple iPhone app that has improved my research experience for my PhD. It's easy to use and perfect for all students and researchers. The app has a neat and organized design that helps me stay focused on my work. It's not confusing, so I can work without distractions and stay productive. The app's great feature is that it helps me organize my research materials like articles, papers, and notes. It has an intelligent system that makes finding information very easy and quick, so I don't have to waste time. This app also works well with other productivity tools, so I can access my research from different devices. The app's search function is fast and accurate. It scans all my research materials and shows relevant results in seconds. This has been very helpful in finding specific information I need. The app is easy to use and the support team is very helpful. They quickly answer any questions you have to make sure you have a great experience.
My review on Minimal.
I love the Minimal app, it’s one of the greatest note-taking apps I’ve had. One of my problems, or why I rated it three stars; would be because the app continually crashes. I open up the app and it takes me back to my Home Screen. If I open up one of my notes on the app it’ll exit out on its own. If you could please fix this problem, I would be extremely grateful and appreciative. Please and thank you. - Jazz A minimal app user.
Great up, but theres a bug
App is great, it's minimal and elegant, perfect for jotting down thoughts, or formulating complex ideas in a clean structured manner. Mark down support is clean, everything is intuitive. the auto delete feature is my best friend, I tend to jot down random thoughts throughout the day, if I end up not returning to an idea it automatically deletes itself. No more cluttered notes :). For dev: Cannot create new notes, IOS 18.1, iPhone 13. Has been working until most recent update.
Keeps Crashing and losing my work
I've had the trial for about an hour now and it's crashed, unsaved three times already.
Wonderful
I actually love this app so much. It is so sleek and wonderful except for this tiny problem I've been facing! I'm wanting to publish one of my notes as a website, but for some reason I'm always left with "Hmmm... something's wrong. Please try again later." I can't figure out what is wrong! I've restarted my phone and redownloaded the app, I've even tried from my computer but it won't work. I've waited and tried the next day, etc. If theres any way to fix this I would be so so happy. That's the only flaw, otherwise, incredible incredible app!!
Crashed too many times in a short period of time
Love the look but just crashed several times within a 10min period so created more issues for me. I kind of get the folder creation using the brackets but I think I prefer the visual organisation of an actual folder rather than the 'tag' style folder.
Simple and modestly beautiful
Distraction free Simply perfect Thank you
Crashes every time.
Pretty useless app for writing down information if it crashes every single time.
Extra space when using bold or italic
It messed up the writing experience on this app.
NEEDS INSERT PHOTO OPTION
Minimal’s one and only flaw is that you can’t insert photos. If you look at Apple’s Notes app, you can insert photos and even better format them so they’ll be small (long press an inserted image and the menu options pop up) ^ THAT IS THE ONE FEATURE MINIMAL NEEDS TO BE PERFECT. I run a company that is dependent on collaboration. That oneeee lacking feature is the only reason we can’t use that app.
Good
So beautiful 🥲
Was excited to try, but..
It’s $50 a year for something so basic, maybe $5 a year would be fair..
Awesome
This is awesome but for some reason everytime I paste something from clipboard the app crashes
Update
After the update a few days ago, the app keeps crashing. 😞 I tried to uninstall and install again but it keeps happening. I restarted my phone too and deleted some space but it’s still the same. I kept so many drafts in there and I lost them forever. I don’t even know if I could recover them if I install it again?
Can't open the app
I've used the app for 1month and after that im not using it for 1 week now i cant open the app
🤎 sepia 🤎
i love that minimal has 🤎 sepia 🤎background option. minimal feels like an intuitive and curated experience. choose from a small (manageable) number of backgrounds hues & fonts. write without committing to a folder or title. low pressure, aesthetically elegant environment that won’t give me a headache or decision fatigue before i put down a single idea. when cultivating from seed, you never know if any particular seed is bound for maturation or compost - and it's best not to force it either way. for that reason, minimal has become my creative writing “seed tray”
Impossible to write if you are a touch typist
After a certain WPM, the app lags behind, I see 3-4 characters typing after I release my fingers. In addition it tries to auto-correct and guesstimate a lot of things and there is no way to turn that feature off. I had to switch the simple mode with no formatting, otherwise all of these combined with markdown formatting was resulting in the app getting confused and crashing at least once every 10 minutes lolsing the last few sentencest I’ve written at least. Super annoying. I’m using an M2 mac, if that helps.
Aesthetic & Clean
I just wanted an app to write without guided prompts and user friendly. The one thing I would change is that I wish the app or notes were password protected.
beautiful idea
i absolutely love the idea of this app... being a highly sensitive person and a minimalist alongside—many of the note taking apps i look at seem far too extensive to my liking. i feel this app would’ve been perfect for me, if not for the fact that there is not a free version, and that it isn’t compatible with microsoft devices.
Крутое приложение, но!
Дизайн выше всех похвал, но подписка и цена в 400 рублей убивают это приложение. Хотелось бы так же иметь возможность создавать заметки с паролем и нет возможности создание папок.
Super clean
Exactly what I wanted in a minimalistic writing app just for my thoughts
Daylight robbery
Fifty pounds a year for this? Sheer greed on the part of the developers. There are much better and much nicer looking and much cheaper writing apps than this.
Beautiful and great to work with
Love the minimalist aesthetic of the app - everything truly gets out of the way while I’m writing. To those reading this review - downloading the app is pointless unless you sign up to the free trial. I did feel misled into thinking could try this app without having to signup to one of those free trials that automatically convert into membership. To the devs - are there plans for 3rd party cloud syncing? That’s the one feature holding me back from purchase. Lastly, I think a side bar to manage notes would be a great addition(like Ulysses or Bear Notes) ! Keep up the great work, I look forward to tracking progress!
Keep crashing
The app keeps crashing, It can't stay open for more than 1 hour.
Цена не соответствует функционалу
Приложение приятное внешне, но цена неадекватная. Существует ряд других приложений (в том числе бесплатных), которые и выглядят не хуже и по функционалу гораздо шире.
Another feature
I composed a message to publish to the web. After putting it online I had a p. s. to add and wondered how to update the already published message. When discovering the fact that the published site is updated as you make changes in Minimal I was overjoyed. Maybe not overjoyed but joyed anyway. Thanks for taking care of that procedure when creating this app. Good job. I recommend Minimal to my friends and contacts! Hugh p.s. the deeper I go into this app the more i appreciate the work that’s gone into covering all the details. I just changed the app’s icon and a pop up opened telling me the icon has been changed. I feel fortunate to work with this wonderful tool and discover the features of the attention given to the little details. Every time I use it the more integrated it becomes in my time and info organization daily. Hey, anyone that reads this may benefit greatly by choosing to give it a whirl! 😋
Very expensive
If you are using this all day every day, the n maybe. Otherwise, the high cost is prohibitive.
Beautiful
I love the note lifetime feature and the ability to change themes to pitch black. Don't much care for the subscription - im a subscriber - i would prefer if it was a one time purchase
Good but not complete
I really love the aesthetic but wish it had a bit more functionality, namely: • the ability to clear completed tasks easily. • being able to highlight and add single to do tasks to calendar, not have them all transfer across • being able to choose a formatting style that removes the unwanted formatting marks Hopefully some of these are integrated in future updates?
