Nearly perfect!
One of the best language learning apps I’ve used to this day. My only issue is the writing character lessons. It is ridiculously so specific for me (doing this) that even when I follow along the line EXACTLY, it still reads it as a mistake and makes me do it over and over. However, I have just used other apps specifically for learning to write the characters so that I’m still getting good practice learning to read and write.
Speaking tests are broken
I chose this app because of the speaking tests that can evaluate your speaking skills. They essentially don’t work at all for Thai, native Thai speakers can’t get 3 stars, and the app doesn’t recognize my voice most of the time to where I can’t finish a lesson anymore. They update it constantly and it doesn’t fix anything

The female voice drives me nuts (for every language!). Please add some male voice or alternative voices. This is urgent. Thanks.
A great program
If you stick with it, I believe you’ll experience progress with your language learning goals. I have made steady progress using the app and you should as well.

App freezes during the speech portion of the classes. Not worth it if it doesn’t work.

i have been taking the cambodian course and have not been able to move forward because of the trial. i just wanna learn khmer. also is very innacurate.
Speaking part doesn’t work welll
The speaking part doesn’t work well. Takes a lot of time for words to pick up. The new update removed the cultural notes and the grammar lessons that were interesting. There are more repetitive words in the new lessons as well. I like it better before the recent update

Rating Before Starting
Before even one lesson, I had to commit to a subscription that starts after the trial. Then I was asked to rate the app. Give me a chance actually use it first. I may or may not update my rating later.
Good app. Buggy and missing some vital features
This is a good app. I appreciate that it offers instruction in less common languages. But the microphone feature that tests the user’s pronunciation is buggy. It often hangs and then doesn’t actually capture spoken words. There is also no ability to exclusively practice writing.
So frustrating
Hiii I really liked this app so far but the problem is how I can’t start the next level which is basic phases which is weird because I got all crowns on the last one and I have 21 crowns which I need for the next level but it still won’t let me in pls fix this !!!
I’ve Truly Seen Better
This app is okay, & it is the only app that does Tagalog. However, it just throw words & sounds at you. Making pronunciations really. Also, it doesn’t start off with an alphabet. So you can’t really gain a foundation. This is more so good for vocabulary if you already know the language.

The voice detecting part of the app in inconsistent and freezes the app

I have tried many different apps and went to many lessons in order to learn my language. However, this app has been the best so far! It is super engaging, rewarding, and motivates me to keep going. I would really recommend this for anyone (especially for beginners!) Ling is very helpful, so, thank you to the creators!
Keeps crashing
Keeps crashing and won’t recognize my voice. I’ve said,”Guro ako.” About 50 different ways. Very discouraging. I’ve repeated the same lesson about 15 times and it won’t recognize my voice. When it finally recognizes my voice it crashes. Don’t waste your time. It’s like they’re doing it on purpose.
Finally, an app that lets me learn Amharic!
This has been the only app that not only teaches Amharic, but does so in a way that’s fun and engaging. My only problem so far is when it comes to speaking; I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like I say the words right but it still counts it wrong. Otherwise, this app is perfect and a very good resource for people trying to learn a language for the first time.
Promising Not Perfect
Good vibes. I absolutely love the convo listening part. Some good ideas here. This might be my app for LL. Few Warnings/ Provisos: Some of the sounds are not correct. I live in Ukraine and have the benefit of speaking with real Ukrainians daily. Most of it is right, but not all. Some of the transliterations are definitely wrong. Fortunately, I can read cyrillic, so it doesn't really bother me. The sounds for listening are a bigger issue. But, overall, I like it. Needs improvement, though.

No Tamil speaker reviewed the Tamil course
I don’t know if they’re just Google translating or using AI or what but … this app doesn’t actually teach properly. Just for example, in English if you respond to someone’s “How are you?” by saying that you’re well, you can then say, “How’re you?” They teach you to say, “Ninga yeppadi?” (literally how you) which is nonsense in Tamil without an iruukinga. This is the most basic interaction in the language and they completely botched it, so there’s no reason to trust the rest of their course. Don’t 👏 release 👏 language 👏 courses 👏 without 👏 a 👏 native 👏 speaker 👏 reviewing 👏 them!!!

I’m learning, Slovenian, and ling is great. But every time I’m done with a lesson, it tries to get me to join a plan. other wise its really good!
Basic learning
I’ve read the reviews and I see a lot of people who are trying to become more fluent in their native language through this app, same with me, my main issue with this app is that choosing the level of understanding of the language you’ve chosen is completely useless! I chose the ‘fluent’ option, why are the first lessons I’m given is how to say hello? Or greetings? If I am fluent that is completely unnecessary and a waste of time, especially if the next stage of learning is hidden behind a pay wall, complete waste of time. I was very excited to see that Lithuanian was an option on a learning app, especially as I’m trying to learn more phrases as I’m about to visit family there soon, very disappointed. I think this app is a cash grab, rushed and using unpopular languages to gain customers.
Based on incorrect grammar
I’ve been studying Norwegian for over 30 years, and I thought I would try it out on this app. First, I noticed there are a lot of grammatical errors and words that they do not even say in Norway in common speaking, which troubled me. For somebody who doesn’t know that and is going to think they actually are speaking correctly. Also, the system kept giving me zero percentage with my pronunciation, which is quite funny as I said I’ve been speaking the language for over 30 years and my friends all think I speak almost as as well as they do. The idea behind the app is great. I feel that too much of the translation and language learning is based on AI generated information and not commonly accepted vocabulary, and incorrect translation. I won’t be continuing after the free trial.

Really enjoying!
Finally an app that offers Slovenian language. I’ve been waiting for Duolingo to add Slovenian.. and then I found this app and I am super happy! It has helped me stay consistent with my learning and makes it fun too. A few issues with the scoring and some of the speaking parts.. but apart from that it’s been great!
Doesn't work
Was a great app. Then it updated and restarted my progress. Every time I try to do a speaking test, I get past the first word and the second word just loads for an eternity. Not worth the money, I'm unsubscribing.

The only app that helps me learn my wife’s home language. It has an option to buy lifelong prescription of the app which I love as I hate prescriptions.
Can’t create login
No way to swipe down or remove keyboard so I can click continue. It says enter name after selecting a language and I’m just stuck there forever
Maybe better then Duolingo
This is absolutely amazing it teaches me and still makes it fun!
Too expensive
The app really has potential and would love to use it. However, 22 bucks a month is crazy ridiculous. Especially with no free trial (only 7 days free if you buy the subscription for the WHOLE year). Only having the first lesson free feels like a slap in the face too. I hate duolingo, and would love to support a non-ai language learning app, but the pricing is atrocious.
Niche languages but struggling to remember
I am glad there’s niche languages like Khmer and with accurate voices. I am half Khmer and relearning the language. I can translate things word for word before this but there are some words I don’t know about. Starting from greeting messages there’s a few I don’t know and I would appreciate if there’s a direct translation of each word. It would help me remember better as I’d know what the word is used for, and when I should use it. I also wish I could learn the alphabet here as an additional thing. I find that the romanised letters help me read what the sentence is (as I can’t read Khmer writing), but it is also a bit of a cheat and hinders learning. It’s completely audio based so I don’t see what the difference is leaving it there or not. This is great if you want to just speak and listen to the language to get around the country though but would love more or something with these changes
Learning to talk with relatives and love this app.
Ling is Great for learning daily interactions. This app uses genuine conversations that i hear regularly when visiting family. it’s helpful to see the spelling for words and sounds im not used to making in english and i can finally have brief conversations with my in laws and understand what I am saying in reply. thank you Ling!
Not good for learning to speak.
If you want to learn to speak. This app is not for you. Wait for an AI that will be better than this and hopefully replace this app by another company. Waste of money and time.
Bite Size Lessons
Trying to learn some basic Japanese and so far I’m making a little progress. I like the bite size lessons. The only thing that I would suggest is options for different voices.

best app ive had for thai until..
everything good i like the way they do it with actual words we would use in coversation unlike another app we all know, and i enjoy the way they teach the words/phrases. it would be nice if it had more speak tasks. i thought it was still decent while using for free but then i done the first chapter/level or whatever it is and the rest are locked until you pay. what is the point in that you can still make money off pro with other stuff you dont need to lock everything apart from the first block come on.

No trial without subscription
In order to even try the app you need to sign up for an $80 yearly subscription. I don't trust seven day trials that force me to sign up for a yearly subscription upfront without knowing how to cancel it. The only other option to even try the app is a $15 monthly fee with no trial. No thank you. Deleted.
Mostly great
I mostly love this app. The only annoying thing is it crashes every time I try and do a speaking exercise which is very frustrating. Everything else is great though. It teaches sentence building from the first lesson to help will all round knowledge not just memorising vocab.
Not a good start
Duolingo didn’t have Tamil so I came here. Before I even start, I’m offered multiple subscriptions asking me to pay. And then I’m just thrown into a lesson for greeting l, except I didn’t even learn the alphabets? I finish the lesson, at which point I’m asked to pay again. And not a small amount mind you. I try look for a section to learn the alphabets but there are none. They just expect you to come with a pre understanding of the writing system or what? In Duolingo when I did the Hindi section. You have a section to learn the alphabets, even write them by hand. I see few lessons down and the lesson is just locked behind a pay wall. There is a very good step by step lesson in YouTube which goes over learning to actually read what the words are. 7 episodes 30 mins each. Top it all off? It’s free. Unlike this. Problem with these apps is that it tries to speedrun you learning a language, let’s just jump right into conversation so you can speak broken Tamil in 2 weeks. Instead their aim should be to learn the fundamentals and the foundation of the language. Learn the rules. But here it’s an afterthought.

I understand y'all need income and that but you could do something like one lesson a day then u need to pay or sum because it's annoying how I just get into learning Lithuanian and I had to stop because of a pay wall
