Really like the app and the way it teaches, I like the games a lot I feel I really helps with my memory and spelling it out!!!!
How could you spell GOD wrong?
Right away I noticed the app had as topics promoting perversion and celebrating sin, but not religion. Then the very first word was supposed to be hello, which Croatians say “Bog” - meaning God. And The app designers got it WRONG, spelling it “bok.” Deliberately? It doesn’t matter.
Really good so far
This is a really good app. I’m just starting learning Brazilian Portuguese and this is a great app to speak fluently and understand words.

Free user lesson timer messed up
Again, timer for free user is messed up, it should allow user to practice every 9 hours, so basically do lesson in the morning and in the evening, but now I can only do in the morning… boo…
I love it
So it is amazing and its like a game. I love how much it repeats the words so you can practice pronouncing them. But it’s annoying that you have to swipe down to learn a new word every time. But idk if that changes since I’ve only done one lesson so far. Also i really don’t like how you have to pay to learn for more than five minutes. Since i get really bored this is a productive way to spend time but five minutes isn’t much.
Try Ling instead
This is a very disappointing premium purchase. The font size and especially the bizarre background colours make it hard to see properly. The alphabet characters are introduced with no prep or warning or in any way that it’s possible to make sense or learn. Really poor…
Has potential to be better
I’m learning Indonesian as an English speaker. This is good to learn new words but not the most complete way to learn a language. The games are engaging, but I wish there was more to it than just vocabulary.
OLED Black Version Theme
Love the app but can we get themes for Premium Users? I’m not the biggest fan of purple and would love a black theme as an option and a paying customer
Horrible Preview
Maybe the actual app is better, but why would I subscribe when the preview is ridiculously short and only exists at a very basic level, even though I indicated that I am advanced. As a teacher, I had both good and bad expectations for an app made by kahoot. While I resent having to spend on a kahoot membership, my students do benefit and it is easy to test out the functionality of kahoot prior to paying. Here though, you demand money on faith, without showing anything of quality. Honestly, it’s disrespectful and insulting and if you’re not going to give an actual preview I suspect you are scamming people.

Update: 4 to 2 …Makes learning fun through interaction
Drops added Grammar lessons for Korean, which could be amazing but the lessons are currently _only_ romanized even with the toggle switched to “Always Off”. This is nearly unusable for me now. Decent for vocab still but even then I’ve been using Anki. Ive been using this app along with LingoDeer, and DuoLingo. This app is the most fun. It’s a great filler in between more advanced learning like LingoDeer. I find myself just wanting to play on Drops. It doesn’t feel like studying but I already know many words I never knew before thanks to Drops. I did notice that their voice for “I write” is said in blunt form when the Hangul says it in polite form. “자는 글을 써요” is said like “나는 글을 쓴다” In addition — Practice is spelled incorrectly on the “Practise now” page. You have it spelt with an s instead of a c twice.

Too Busy
The app is now so busy and full of garbage that it wastes my time and I have difficulty navigating it. I used to really like this app, and I thought it was helpful. I particularly like Scripts. Script seems to have been abandoned. I think my last streak was over two years, and it got busy and I abandoned it. I just tried to use it again, and I couldn’t figure out how to pick a language. That is how non-intuitive this app has become. Very disappointing, because I bought the lifetime subscription.
Would give 5 stars except for one thing...
This is a great vocabulary app and a good supplement to my Dreaming Spanish routine. However, I would like to be able to count my time spent with it, and there is no way to do so. There is no way to see how many sessions I completed in a given day. There is no way to see how much time I spent learning in the app. I can't even see the little diagram comparing the last 7 days / 30 days / 90 days unless I spend time on another session and see that chart during the review. I really like having that data available. If they will fix this issue, I will happily revise my review.

Poor game, no learning
This is such a basic poor game, no repetition of subjects just keeps moving forward so you forget everything seen before as not learnt. Works ok if you are beginner and learning the language properly somewhere else, BUT not worth the money so don’t make the same mistake I did and took out an expensive annual subscription! Spend the money wisely elsewhere

Incorrect Pronunciation
I’m using Drops for Chinese vocab, helping me focus on Radicals etc. etc. The thing is that I’m not new to Chinese. I can speak well enough, (according to a friend) with correct tones and rather clear. I also don’t find distinguishing between tones particularly difficult. That is to say: tones are frequently misused in this app to the point of annoyance for me and potential misinformation to another person. There are multiple times when third tones (ǎ, falling rising) are pronounced as first tones (ā, flat), or where second tones (á, rising) are pronounced as fourth tones (à, falling), OR where neutral tone words are pronounced with 3rd tone for some reason???? Not to mention, I’m not sure if all of the translations are accurate. With tones, of course for some words they change in context but there is no context here to change them. They shouldn’t sound this off.
Mexican Spanish
It’s pretty good. I wish it was 10 minutes instead of five minutes per day. But so far I feel like my Spanish is good.
Tagalog learning from English very slow
I only have 10 minutes a day to learn and half that time is spent learning ENGLISH terms. Please re-review your Tagalog courses!

Overall State of Drops; Favorites Function Broken
Like other reviewers have already stated, Drops has been steadily going downhill. I have been using it for years as a Premium subscriber, and have seen how functionality and content have been replaced with childish gamification and convoluted menus. Now most everything feel like AI slop where users' time is wasted with clicking through menus, and having to wait for stats being shown after each session, not being given an option to click them away or disable them completely. Even worse, there is no longer a way to reach anyone; the Favorites function has been broken for some time now, but there is no mechanism to report issues. So, I am putting this here, maybe my thoughts on the state of the app will get the devs attention 🤷

Great for vocab, not great for grammar.
I downloaded this as support through my Te Reo Māori course. To have Māori available in an app is amazing and it’s been great for testing vocab. Going past any vocab I have issues. The sentences don’t contain any information about structure (flash card style learning all throughout). Also, the app often starts skipping to the next word/phrase before the last sentence has even been read out. I imagine it’s a set timer for all words/phrases. Also I’ve noticed a couple of errors/generalisations, for example, when talking about family there are different names for brothers and sisters depending on your gender and if they’re older or younger, but the app doesn’t capture that. So I’d recommend using this for vocab, but past that we’d need some changes to the learning style!

Amazing app as a base (learning canto) (paying subscription)
I like the app, I started with the one that is just for Cantonese, this assured with native speakers is probably the best learning app out there. The subscription is in my opinion better than Duolingo’s. It has a curated structured path towards actually essential basics, the way it is also categorized in an orderly fashion makes it easy to find and review things you need to refresh. I love that you can reset your progress for certain categories you want to improve. The community challenges are high motivators. The games are also good. The games with other people is a welcome addition. The stat track graph is very informative on tracking your progress. Cons: doesn’t have a speech check, I do know they are rarely done right due to how difficult they are to make, but a path towards some integration would be cool Even bigger con: uses Ai imagery instead of commissioning, (I would be down to draw some for a free year subscription)

Freezing, ad to buy paid version overlay the session
Idea may be not too bad, but execution is terrible: app wastes so much of resources that freezes in between words. Even worse: number of ads to buy paid version grows , now that add can appear right during a free sesssion and you can’t even dismiss it - just to close the app and restart it. Just a terrible slop.

boring and far too expensive (£60!)
you can’t skip levels according to your skill level. i am only a beginner but i know how to say how are you, hello, man, woman, thank you etc but the app forces you to do lots of sessions that feel very long going through these kind of incredibly basic words. the sessions are very repetitive and involve only multiple choice questions for translating single words. youd be better off just using flash cards! i paid for the full subscription but i havent got to the premium level stuff because its so boring, which makes me wonder what i actually paid for! careful if you sign up for a free trial! there are lots of far better language apps
Somatic learning
So far after ten minutes I feel this app has more vitality and interesting mechanics than Duolingo although we will have to see how it does with grammar building and vocabulary reviews. At least I’ve learnt some asinine!
Great , BUT…
It is certainly a fun way to learn vocabulary and phrases. But if you are a person who likes to connect the dots and needs some explanation, you won’t find it here as there’s no grammar. For FR, IT, ES, DE, NL it gives you articles (le, la, el, der, die, het…) which is amazing. It doesn’t do it for Danish which is big shame as a vocab without an article is useless (I speak 5 languages and I am also a teacher so trust me you need to learn an article with every word but it seems like they only forgot about Danish). For Asian languages (CN, JP, KR) forget about it! There are other apps. It does teach you foreign scripts which is good though! But you are level 1 or 2 and then it starts introducing you complex characters waaay beyond your level. You can choose your own units, but you cannot avoid difficult content even for beginner’s level. Sure, die familie or la famille is easy but you cannot learn the same word in the “Starter Pack” in Japanese (家族). There are other apps for oriental languages that follow an appropriate linguistic approach. Also, questions won’t help you master foreign scripts. You might be able to recognize them, but not use/speak them. Also, the unit check is just 10 questions which are so easy that they do not really test if you know the content well. They focus on having an idea of what you learned. Too simple. You can get dopamine accomplishment boost but not the actual knowledge (they maybe test 20% of unit content). Overall, I don’t like they treat every language with the same algorithm. Every language needs a bit different approach! They changed their design in like January 2026. All images are AI generated. It looks disgusting. And they removed progress tracking so you’re pretty much doomed to look up topics on you own without tracking which ones you completed.
