I like everything and the prices are okay. I would love for new words to be added though, and have some more advanced sentences. I really like the inclusivity of the Mongolian and Kazakh/central Asian languages, they are usually not included.

It was good at first, very nice style and easy to use. Good vocabulary and pronunciation for words, but everything is paid after :( . Im trying to learn dari for my grandparents and there are no free resources for me to use. I thought this app would finally help me but its just like the others, always wanting money.
Ideas is good
Functionality is poor - On my iPad, I cannot change the pronunciation speed. On my Mac, it hangs (spinning wheel of death) when it tries to play back my recorded voice.

I very much like the app and how many language were on it like how if I help people who don’t speak to language don’t understand their surroundings it also I very much enjoyed it about the tokens and unlocking more learning and learning more and I like how if I get it but sometimes I don’t get right, but lose your token

This app doesn’t have any buttons or options to cancel your subscription, you will be charged if you sign up and then have to email the developers to get your money back EDIT: The developer is lying in their response the app takes you to a website to sign up so you can’t cancel via the app

It’d be so cool if they had Ainu, Faroese, Nuosu, or more ancient language. Format is pretty nice, the language selection is pretty large and has pleasant audio recording!

I'm very grateful to have an app that offer Ilocano. No app is perfect but having an extra resource to learn and practice my mother's native tongue is so amazing.

Crashes Constantky after newest update
This is a really good app to learn a few phrases in a foreign language, IF you can keep it from crashing all the time. It was fine before the latest update, which seems to leave screens hanging on a solid color while moving between sections, and I can't seem to finish the recall section at all, because it keeps crashing before I can finish the last 5 words. REALLY irritating.
Love it but needs improvements
I love this app so far I just wish it would reread the words/sentences a lot slower to help me with my pronunciation, and I also with there was phonetic transcription/pronunciation guide on this app as well just to help me with my wording and such, i also wish this app would mark me wrong instead of me marking myself wrong or right, other than those things it not a bad app to learn my native language 🫶

The Android version of this app is way better
Not a fan - I logged in and couldn’t get past the welcome back screen. Maybe it’s my particular iPhone, maybe it’s the app, or maybe it’s iOS itself, but I’m increasingly regretting the iOS switch each time I download an app I had on Android.
It’s a good start.
This app gets you acquainted with phonetics, vocabulary, as well as practical phrases. However, it doesn’t explain grammar rules.

It’s a super fun app and I feel like I’m learning a lot and quickly
Crashes 100% of the time
The app worked fine until I purchased a language pack. After paying $55 and it confirmed I successfully purchased the package, it shuts down. It hasn’t worked once since then and it does the same thing when I use a different device. I tried to email them before leaving a negative review to give them a chance to address the issues but I got no response.

I love this app and the fact that it actually has the language I speak. I’ve been trying to find an app that has my mother language because I want to take it for GCSEs. I love how it includes the languages they teach in the description, it’s really helpful. And the games make the learning so fun. This app having so many languages made me so happy but I hate the fact that I have to pay to learn the language and because of that I can’t unlock the language and I can’t use this app. Other than that it’s great! Please make it free by using ads or using a different method. Thank you!!☺️

The app is broken. Within seconds of opening it, it crashes. Support says this is a known issue but no eta of when it will be fixed. I saw another user complaining about this but now their review is gone. Please fix this!
Good app, great cust service
Used this app prior to a European trip. Didnt put in the time to get the most benefit but did understand some people. What really stands out is the customer service. Called on a Sunday, got a real person on the phone who fixed the problem. Cant ask for more than that - and way better than any other app I've used.
Below expectations
Limited educational methodology. No grammatical explanations. Random words and phrases, often without textual explanation and pictures that that may or may be clearly linked to the word. Languages are not learned by memory games.
Not the worst, not the best
This is one of the fewer apps that offers a course in papiamentu. Honestly i think that just using this app is not an option to learn the language. I like that native people are speaking the language so you can really train your pronunciation, but that is it. Learning the phrases from the top of your head is not really an option in this application, it connect words with pictures (who sometimes don’t really correspond the word), so if you really want to know the phrases you can only play games where they say the phrase or word and you should click on the right picture. But with sentences like ‘could i have the check?’ the picture never really summarizes the sentence. To conclude you could use it (if you want to really learn pronunciation), but if you also want to learn phrases i would recommend just putting the list they give you with standard words and phrases and their translations and putting them in another app like studygo, quizlet or memrise!
You can actually learn how to speak and hear in the native language!
And it’s all for free! There’s even Haitian Creole on here! A step up from Duolingo. The only bad thing about the app is the mascot. He’s kinda creepy. But aside from that, highly recommend!

I paid 8.99 for some coins and now the app won’t even open… way to steal my money.
RIP off
Firstly I am paying £9.99 a month subscription but if I wish to access anything it is asking me to pay more in the form of uCoins whatever they are. The one thing you cannot do is actually start to learn the language. Beware these shysters!
Almost great but…
I paid for a month to try out the Cantonese option. So far as I can see the app uses a standard library of pictures representing things, people, activities etc, the same across all languages. You hear the word for that thing, person etc in the language you’ve chosen - so it doesn’t matter what native language you speak because it’s not translating words. Clever except that far too often I have no idea what the picture represents. It’s a shame because in other respects it’s an attractive and easy app to use.
Letdown
I downloaded this game thinking I finally had found a good app to learn urdu and don’t get me wrong it is a good app I do recommend it and there is nothing wrong until… when I clicked on a lesson it said I don’t have I don’t have enough u coins and I was only allowed to click on a lesson if I had u coins and to get some I had to pay like £1! I think it is ridiculous because I have just downloaded the app and I didn’t even know about the u coins so how would I have any! It just doesn’t make any sense!

The app opens up to a blue screen with the logo and there is just a spinning wheel for loading and nothing ever loads!

Loved the app but needs and update to work on IOS 17.4 - no longer loads on either an iPhone or iPad Pro.
Too small to read
After recently reinstalling this app on iOS I’m greeted with ting fonts and icons that cannot be adjusted in any setting options, on a phone screen it has been rendered unusable. Is this a bug?
Why no English translation?
I’m trying to learn Telugu but it’s all in Telugu there is no English translation when I play the games! How am I supposed to know what it means no point of having and playing these games without knowing the English translation!

Doesn’t let me cancel my subscription- not helpful.
I was super exited to see that it had Oromo as a language, but when I subscribed to it I saw it was pretty much a dictionary of Oromo, a very very small dictionary. While other languages have more words listed, you cannot learn a language from this app. Don’t waste your money. It’s also super hard to cancel your subscription and I don’t know how, I’m still trying, might have to contact my bank to tell them to block them

First, the customer service of Utalk is extremely excellent and unmatched. They respond immediately without any delay. I encountered a problem with the application on my iPhone where I couldn't download some items or features from within. However, when I tried it on my laptop, it worked efficiently and without any issues. I kindly request the application developer to fix this issue. I don't know if the issue is widespread or just specific to me, as I contacted customer service and informed them about the problem. They asked me to reinstall the application, and I did so, but unfortunately, the problem was not resolved. In general, the application is very excellent when I use it on my laptop, but I want to use it on my iPhone freely and without any restrictions. Thank you to the application developer.

Fun to play but don’t make it your main language learning resource
I downloaded uTalk as it’s the only app I could find for learning Khmer (Cambodian). The game structure is great and I’ve found it useful for learning single word vocabulary, but beyond that you can’t really use it to learn how to actually communicate in a language. There is no logic to the structure of the modules and they don’t build on each other, so sometimes you’re just learning single words and sometimes it’s asking you to memorise long sentences, without any explanation of how the grammar works, using words you don’t learn until a later module. You have no idea how to construct a sentence, so you can’t improve your speaking. The module on Khmer alphabet doesn’t teach the subscript form of the letters, which basically means you can only read part of a word by the end unless you find a different resource to study reading. Another annoyance is that the vocabulary and photos are standardised for every language rather than adapted to how people actually speak/live locally - and the translations are super literal. This means that sometimes you’re learning overly specific terms that are totally useless. For example, in the food sections, you only learn the words for Western food types, right down to the vegetables. E.g. you learn the specific word for the imported French version rather than the local equivalent, which causes confusion if you try to use it in real life. Also, instead of knowing how to ask for rice or noodles - things you actually eat here in Cambodia - you’re learning words for things like peanut butter, which realistically you only ever see written in English anyway. And in the driving section, you learn things like the word for snow chains and snow tyres, which is kind of hilarious given that Cambodia is a tropical country with no proper mountains, but also a complete waste of time as a language learner. The worst thing, though, is that there are mistakes and inconsistencies all through. As I’ve got better at reading Khmer (from learning outside the app) I’ve noticed that the two speakers on the app sometimes miss out a word on longer phrases, pronounce them completely differently, or occasionally supplant them with a completely different word. They even pronounce some letters in the alphabet differently. (I’m not talking about gendered language variations). Maybe there are regional dialect differences but since it’s not explained, you have no idea as a learner which one to replicate. The app is also really buggy. For example, I downloaded the content onto my phone so I could practise while offline and now it deletes all my progress whenever I exit the app. There are definitely better apps that guide you through the language learning process - just not for Khmer! That said, it’s good if you just want to do a few minutes’ practice here and there to add a few words to your vocabulary. And I really liked that the company offers free app access to refugees learning their host country language.
