This app is the best of its type. The size of the catalogue makes it unique, and the search, annotation, upload and playlist functions are all excellent.
“Your subscription is connected to another account”
Paid $15 for subscription through apple while logged into my account, suddenly logged out and told my subscription is active through another account. I don’t have another account!! Tried making an apple account and logging in through there (thinking maybe it was attached to my Apple ID) but no, nothing. Horrible app. Not my first time using it, and I can assure you it’s been a nightmare every time. I hate this thing so much. Update: I have still not received a refund for this, and I’m still unable to access subscription content.

Great but with limitations
Although the pieces that are there are wonderful, the search engine is so difficult to use that even if you know the exact name of the piece and even it’s numerical identifier, it can be almost impossible to find. In addition, the idea that you can spend that much money per year on an app and they don’t give you a way to delete a score from your playlist without deleting the entire playlist is just insane. It’s such a simple coding measure. You have to conclude they genuinely don’t care. If you’re going to have an app like this, you should pay developers to continue to make sure that it’s updated and functional. If they fix these issues, it would surely be a five star review.
Illegally charged despite canceling subscription
Update: I got a refund. They agreed to a refund a day after charging me and receiving an email from me explaining why they needed to give me a refund. Original review: They illegally charged me despite my cancelling my free trial 24 hours before it ended. Still trying to get a refund. Beware signing up for their subscription on their website as there is no instantaneous electronic cancellation mechanism. I went through the steps as directed multiple times and received no cancellation email. I additionally emailed customer service so that I could have a record of requesting to cancel. This could have been a useful app to subscribe to in months when I play gigs that don’t give out non public domain music in advance, but I won’t do so unless they sort out an effective instaneous electronic cancellation mechanism and refund the illegal charge. For public domain music imslp is adequate and FREE.
A most have for any musician
Thanks for the update, makes so much sense to have the library and the reader in the same place. Love this App, is always improving, always found what I need and it is so useful.
Login Process is Atrocious
This app has some benefits, I’ll give it that. However, the process of logging in your account and/or your instructions account is absolutely atrocious. It’s always taking 3-10 minutes to finally get logged in. I honestly only use it as my university offers it, but honestly, it’s not great. It’s also super slow. Like A+ developers for the idea. However the overall design, speed, and login process, y’all are morons for that one.

Je crois que cette app est une révolution pour les étudiants en composition. Cependant, afin de noter sur la partition, il est vrai que le stylo est assez gros bien que je minimalise la taille. Donc je veux que les développeurs corrigent cet inconvénient et j'aimerais bien que l'on utilise plus délicatement les outils à noter.
good library poor ux
login takes ages. app is glitchy. lots of waiting for things to load. not reliable. the library is good, but sorry, it’s just not worth the pain
Score colour
This app could be all I ever need, but there isn't a way to change the background colour of the scores to beige. Looking at a bright white screen for hours on end gives me huge migraines, so I'll continue using the IMSLP score reader until this feature is included. (others will have different accessibility needs to myself and would benefit from other colours too.)
Wonderful
This app has absolutely saved me! I am a terrible sight reader but I love orchestral playing. nkoda’s massive library has allowed me to obtain sheet music I could not normally access before my rehearsals so I am now always prepared. The annotation tools are also awesome and easy to use. Thank you nkoda!
Absolute garbage
Unreliable. Can’t use my subscription because the app says it is ‘tied to another account’ even though it is not true. The app itself is buggy and slow. Waste of money.

Concerti, prove, lezioni, studiare, curiosare ! Tutto questo in una meravigliosa app che ha risolto molti problemi. Un suggerimento ad una pecca: il motore di ricerca si può migliorare notevolmente, non è possibile per il momento cercare per strumenti , o per altro, vi sono interessanti modalità di ricerca per compositore ma poi esplorando su editori o altro bisogna approfondire meglio e stanare dal lungo elenco ciò che cerco a volte destinato ad una voce o strumento in particolare e non è facile. Ma sono molto contento del servizio che nkoda offre e mi ha fatto scoprire tanti brani musicali rari e belli! Grazie!
Not native app
The glacial slow performance and janky UI in this so called app (it’s a wrapped web site in reality) detract from the good content library. It it was a native app with good user experience I would totally pay the subscription fee as it is I’m compelled to discourage others from looking at it at all sadly.
Great idea but weak…
I will support a couple of months, because I’m a musician myself, too. And I want to give a chance for this app to improve. It is quite a bit unstable, though. The idea is great, but the app performance is slow or frustrating. What if this happens in a concert? I hope they will fix it soon.

Cannot access my institutional account
The application won’t let me access my institutional account. After being redirected to my school’s website to sign in with my credentials, the app doesn’t log me in.

Cerco di aprire uno spartito e sia da iPad che da iPhone mi esce la scritta “Caricamento in corso…”. Ho atteso due ore e non è cambiato nulla. Ho fatto un abbonamento mensile proprio oggi. Spero risolviate. Aggiornamento. Ho continuato a provare dal Mac e il “caricamento in corso” mi ha portato ad una pagina dove inserire il numero di cellulare. L’ho inserito e gli spartiti si sono aperti da tutti i dispositivi.
Slow, and threats???
The UI is terribly slow loading around. Every time I open the app and want to search for specific music, it takes unexpectedly long, and requires you to know the composer to even attempt a term search. But the most egregious issue is the threat to disable your account from screen shots. It’s easy to accidentally take a screen shot. And you block the content anyway, so it’s not like trying to take a screenshot even does anything. Don’t threaten to suspend a users account for accidental screenshots that don’t even capture copyright material. Unbelievable.
Search function is unnecessarily complex
Please improve the search function. It’s very inconvenient to have to type in several different boxes, please streamline.
NKODA is the deal of the century for classical copyrighted scores
For those interested in classical orchestral and other instrumental combinations, especially piano, this is an invaluable tool and for the money a steal. For what you would pay for one copyrighted orchestral - things you cannot get from IMSLP - you can get a year’s subscription to NKODA. On a big iPad, scores are displayed nicely, as good as paper. Of course there are many things not available, but what they have will keep you busy for a long, long, long time.
THIEVES and horrible app
I’d rate it ZERO if I could. I cancelled my subscription last August 2024before paying the ridiculous almost 50% increase … And now in March 2025 they’ve charged me $139 dollars — without authorization. How do they still have my CC info AFTER I cancelled my. Subscription? The UI was horrible … NO customer support. Horrible horrible experience. I don’t even know how to get my money back from this unauthorized “renewal” more than 6 months after I CANCELLED!
Good library, score view needs work
In terms of the actual range of material on offer, nkoda is truly one of a kind. The score reader itself can be a bit tempermental, and needs to be treated - shall we say - with a bit of love and care.
Great library, horrendous functionality
I have been using the app for years via my institutional credentials. Absolutely chocking experience in terms of crashing and reliability. I have spent hours scanning and organizing hundreds of sheet music pages from here and transferred them to a more reliable app. That is how bad the functional here.

Muy buena aplicación para el músico profesional. Disfruto mucho. ¡Modo offline por favor! No todos los sitios en los que se toca música cuentan con una conexión a internet. Sería muy práctico poder acceder a las partituras descargadas en el dispositivo sin necesidad de estar conectado a wifi o datos móviles. Me gustaría pudieran habilitar el modo apaisado de visualización pues hay partituras que originalmente han sido creadas para este formato (muchas de órgano y clavecín). Sería muy provechoso poderlas leer desde cualquier dispositivo electrónico en ese formato. Me gustaría además poder acceder a una especie de índice dentro de cada libro de partituras para ir directamente al contenido que deseo ejecutar. Les felicito por el número de partituras que ponen a nuestra disposición. Sin embargo, echo en falta obras y compositores, sobre todo del s. XX, que agradecería se pudieran ir agregando al magnífico catálogo de la app.
Ease of access
Brings a large amount of music together in one place
Impossible to use
I have tried this app several times, but it is truly impossible to use. There are tons of great content, I just wish the app was more user friendly.
Other apps available...BUT
Services like forScore etc. are PDF readers, so you have to purchase the scores separately and then open them in the application. forScore is hands down the best option for this. nkoda is different in the music is already loaded on there (rather a lot of it, in fairness) and, while I would still prefer to view the scores themselves in forSCore (this isn't possible as nkoda doesn't let you download scores), I'm happy to have nkoda for that library.
Potentially such a good app
But it takes forever to load, constantly logs you out, and is just a miserable user experience. And it costs $10 a month… they really need to fix this app to justify the cost

Impressive collection
I suppose this is subjective, but i found the library very comprehensive. I have searched mostly for classical repertoire, but what is available by reputable publishers is impressive. I would never get through the library. For the yearly subscription price, this is a steal. Some are complaining that the comparison to Spotify is unfair, since Spotify is free. Spotify is not free; either you have ads or you pay $10 a month for a subscription. The monthly rate for this product if you pay for a whole year is less than Spotify. Great value, in my opinion RC
I would like to love it but …
Nkoda has the best library feature of any score reader app I've looked into, hands down. That being said, I've struggled with the idea of "renting" scores and never actually owning them. Nonetheless I was willing to give their app a try. After about five days I've been logged out of the app. When I try to log in I get an error message: Error: de176bf4-06ea-42c4-b409-e01d8524f25b|. So I'm now I'm locked out of the music I'm paying for. Unacceptable. I canceled my membership straight away.

Zum Beispiel sind die Schubert Lieder (hier von Bärenreiter) nicht vollständig. Den ersten Band gibt's gar nicht, andere dann nicht in allen Stimmlagen. Was soll man davon halten? Die Suche lässt wirklich sehr zu wünschen übrig. Beispielsweise mangelt es an jeglicher Filtermöglichkeit (wenigstens nach Instrumenten?), von den unsortierten Ergebnissen mal ganz zu schweigen. Darüber hinaus kann man kein einziges Notenblatt betrachten, ohne zuerst ein Probeabo zu beginnen. Was soll man davon halten? Ein grundsätzlich mal toller und bemerkenswerter Service. Allerdings braucht es wohl noch etwas Zeit bevor man da bedenkenlos zum Jahresabo greifen kann. Ich überleg's mir noch bei ein paar Suchen und eventuell dann in den Probewochen. - Gedruckte Noten behalten ja auch ihren Reiz und bereits freie Noten sind auch nicht zu unterschätzen.

Good…when it works
The resources that nkoda provides is valuable and contains a fantastic library. This is undermined by the unreliable nature of the app. It seems to only work every other month, not even allowing me to log in (and yes credentials are correct/app is updated). With the subscription price tag, it should be much more reliable—hope it’s fixed in the near future!
Personalisierung und Suchfunktion ausbaufähig
Die Idee der App ist an und für sich großartig. Allerdings fehlen Möglichkeiten der Personalisierung. Einen Pianisten interessieren Violinnoten in der Regel nicht. Man müsste die Möglichkeit haben, die „Entdecken“ Seite auf interessierende Noten (Instrumente, Musikrichtung ) einzuschränken. Die Suchfunktion ist deutlich verbesserungsfähig. Es fehlt die Suche nach Noten zu einem bestimmten Instrument, einen Verlag oder auch nach der Katalognummer der an der App beteiligten Verlage.
Could have saved some money...
Signed up to nkoda a while back as a private user, but I've just found out my university has had an institutional licence for a while... Could have saved myself some money. Still, a great service for students.
Can’t login
Took 4 messages for customer service to reply. Then they “fixed” my account but still can’t login. After login chrome can’t open the app. Then once they supposedly fixed my account, all the pieces that took me a while to find in my library and save are gone. Then it asks me for my number to verify (really, you want my phone number??? Is this a bank or something of the sort???), however, when I input my number, it tells me the number is already taken. Waste of time, the only reason I’m going through the pain of making this work is because I have to play this solo piece and this is the only place I can get the music where I am. I haven’t been able to practice for many days trying to solve this. As soon as my concert is done I’m cancelling my subscription and never trying again. *** Update: still no help. I’m cancelling and paying to overnight the sheet music I need from England. Spending this money is infinitely better than dealing with the frustration of trying to make this work, poor customer service, and the uncertainty of this app letting me hung to dry for my concert. Really can’t risk it.
Great product
This is a great resource for score studying, playing and research. Mostly using my iPad. I like the ability to annotate the scores and share them. Looking forward to the printing function as I can’t always have my iPad with me. Finally a resource for classical music scores instead of the old archaic rental or purchasing methods. Keep it up!
Unreliable, buggy
Slow, buggy, have to rely on manual support to get past bizarre authentication systems. Annotation system is strange and terrible. A nice idea for accessing copyrighted content in a walled garden, but feels like it’s decades behind the UIs of forScore and Newzik.
The access to pop and modern music is almost non existent in Canada. Classical is less of a problem.
I was unable to access almost any pop, jazz or musicals content from Montreal, Canada. I am wondering if this is due to copyright issues or if it is simply growing pains for the app development. It is a significant question as to whether the value of subscribing is worth it if there is almost no access to these areas of the repertoire. I have much less interest in the classical content since I have most of what I need available in my own library or online. What interests me us access to pop, jazz, standards, musical theatre etc but if none of these types are available in my area there is little value in subscribing no matter how well designed and laid out the app may be. I find the app beautifully designed and would gladly subscribe and use it but not if the charts I need are unavailable.
A real step up
A much improved space to explore and discover music
Don’t expect any support from customer service
They will bill you without notice and even if you request cancellation within minutes they will refuse any refund regardless of whether you have used the service. Horrible customer service policy. Worse than pretty much any company out there.
Was hoping something more
Not a bad app but I am on a phone so the app is pretty much useless unless printing the music sheet becomes a feature.
