Some suggestions
It’s a great app, and it’s free too! But I really hope we could create new folders directly on scores page, and be able to import multiple scores at once. Right now, I can only import one at a time, and if I were to create folders for new music, I would have to import the first score and THEN create a folder from that…it takes way too much time…
Would be Perfect, but terrible lag
I hate to rate this App so low, but all my fingerings are on my pieces and now I’ll have to rewrite them all on another app. Suddenly there’s multiple seconds of lag when using the draw tool and turning pages
Great just need to fix big
Having the IMSLP integrated into the app is incredible. I use it for conducting concerts and it has been great until lately. Recently on my iPad, when I zoom in on the score and try to write on it, the app completely crashes. Has anyone else found this to be true? Can’t have this happening during a concert or rehearsal. Can this be fixed real soon, I have a concert this weekend. Herb

The apps keeps restarting
Everytime I come back to the app, it just restarts.
Lovely for iPad!
This app has made a lot of progress over the years and now it works like a charm on my iPad. Big fan!! I like that I can import other pdf scores I have from outside IMSLP so I can have all my music in one place.
Money grabbing
Everything you touch wants a subscription. Oh, you wanted to search for Bach? Money please. Oh you want to save your files? Money please. Oh you want to use the app without constant pop-ups? Money please. Could have been great, ruined by greed

problems with the app on iPad
Hi — I’m experiencing several: • The app freezes when I try to type — it gets stuck and becomes unresponsive for a while. • If I leave the AirTurn pedal on and then close the iPad, when I reopen the app it jumps forward multiple pages, and if I go back it jumps again by the same amount. • It often lags and doesn’t respond for some time. Is there an update planned that will at least fix the issues with the Apple Pencil and typing responsiveness? Thank you!
Great urn the page app!
I’ve been looking for an app to turn pages while playing the piano. I’m just accompanying grandkids and didn’t want to pay a lot of money on a borrowed iPad and this one works well!
PDF in Files app treated as scores
Since installing IMSLP has taken to assuming any PDF is a score. how is my lawn mower maintenance manual a score. In signaling and i will just continue using the web if at all. i prefer forscore anyway
Good but could use improvements
Hello! Longtime imslp subscriber here. Pretty good for reading sheet music on a tablet– I love that you can quickly download music that comes in with the title and composer already included for easy organization. However, it would be great if a few adjustments were made. 1. When inputing text information into a music file, use predictive text based on the scores already in the system (ForScore does this and it’s really convenient). 2. There is a persistent glitch that causes the app to suddenly quit during score annotation. 3. I usually have to zoom in to annotate scores– it would be great if there was a simple way to restore the original zoom settings with one click. 4. Ocaaaasssionally page turning is delayed by a few seconds (plenty of time to derail a performance)… if there is some sort of metric that could be displayed to indicate how hard the device is working, and/or information as to what factors contribute to the delayed turns, so they can be better anticipated and avoided, I’d appreciate that!

Love this app, however tiny critique…
This app is everything I need and is even easier to use than its desktop counterpart, however I do seem to have an issue with changing the font on text boxes along with the opacity, colors, font size, etc. This may be a fault on my devices end, however since I do not have a stylus nor neat handwriting, this feature would be incredibly useful in the future if it were to be fixed and as of this review I would have no other criticism of this app.
New update bug?
I wrote down bowings and fingerings and after the update, all of them were either scattered throughout the page or somehow the pages where I wrote things got mixed up. Had to completely redo and think of new fingerings and bowings….
My piece is missing!
I loved IMSLP very much and have been using it everyday. Today, a unexpected thing happened—when I log in that account with my other iPad, some of the pieces are missing, including one that I studied for a long time and had a lot of important notes—and all is gone!! I am very frustrated today and I hope this wonderful app could be better and I look forward for a response of how can I get it back, Thanks
Critical Issue Hinders Otherwise Stellar App Experience
As a committed Juilliard piano student, I utilize the IMSLP app on my iPad almost religiously. The app is an indispensable part of my daily practice routine, housing an impressive library of over 1200 musical scores. The abundance and accessibility of these resources are what originally earned the IMSLP app a top spot in my arsenal of tools. However, despite the many commendable aspects of the app, I've recently encountered an issue so fundamental that it dramatically impacted my user experience, thus the two-star rating. The app now requires internet access upon opening for a seemingly mundane database migration - an operation that one might presume would merely entail synchronizing the local data with the IMSLP database. This could be an acceptable process under normal circumstances, and I would've even appreciated the attention to data integrity if it didn't impose such a drastic inconvenience. Ironically, the issue arose during one of the most critical moments for a musician - right before a performance. My iPad, devoid of cellular data service and usually in airplane mode to save battery life, was fully charged and ready to deliver the scores for my performance. But the performance was nearly derailed when the IMSLP app decided that it needed an internet connection to access the very files that were already stored on the device. As a musician, you come to rely on certain tools, and the IMSLP app has been one of them. But this new requirement has introduced a level of uncertainty and instability that is simply incompatible with the demands of live performance. The otherwise extraordinary IMSLP app, unfortunately, is marred by this significant oversight. It is my hope that the developers will soon address this issue and return the app to its formerly reliable self. I implore the IMSLP team to reevaluate this internet necessity for database migration. Providing offline access to files already downloaded onto the device should not be compromised by updates or backend processes. Musicians, especially those preparing for on-stage performances, should be able to trust in the reliability of their tools. Until then, this pivotal flaw justifies my two-star rating.
Not great🫤
I’ve been using this app for about 2 years and my main problem is that when I write ✍️ with my Apple Pencil the rest of my notes just start disappearing and it is super annoying
A Useful and Well-Designed App
This is a correction to an earlier review. IMSLP actually does support Apple pencil pro, maybe not fancier features, but certainly fine for score annotation. I haven’t used this app heavily because of my old iPad 6 was just too small, but now that I have a 13” tablet I look forward to using it more. I appreciate the integration with the IMSLP website and the organization of scores into Composer folders. I’ve had none of the battery drain or lost data issues some others have described, but will report them if I encounter them. I also purchased forScore and haven’t decided which one I will use, but I’m leaning toward IMSLP simply because I don’t need so many bells and whistles, and IMSLP is an invaluable resource. I hope that this app will continue to be developed. I think many of us would be willing to pay something for it.
Scores disappeared
Self scanned scores or downloaded scores can disappear all of a sudden and won’t be able to be opened/download at all when they offload by themselves. Scores especially markings aren’t recovered till now. I’m utterly disappointed. Subscribed monthly subscriptions so that my scores don’t disappear but can’t log in on other devices and my scores disappeared when i was still using the same iPad. There is a help button but tough to get help so here I'm reviewing. Update: Managed to get response through emailing and am on the process on solving the problem. Will update when it’s resolved.
Valuable asset
I find the app a most valuable asset in my music tasks both as a research tool as well as a paperless folder where I can import my scores and organize them into set lists for conducting.
High friction free version
Makes it very challenging to discover a new piece to play and see if this is even an app worth paying for. I managed to apply an instrument filter and see an a-z of all piano composers who ever lived, but additional filters like genre or difficulty are behind a paywall. After clicking some composer names at random, I gave up after seeing preview wait time.
Battery drain iPad OS 18
It seems very battery draining just to display pdf on iPad Pro M1 12.9 inch 2021 version, especially in iOS 18. I already turn on low battery mode.
Super helpful
I use imslp all the time for orchestra, I am a trumpet player and it makes things so much easier to be able to just download a pdf if I don’t have the music on me.
Apple log in doesnt work
Purchased a subscription but can’t log in.
Almost Perfect
There are only two things I wish this app had. 1. That it would remember where you were in a score every time you came back to it. 2. That the bookmarks I make are not separate from the score but that if I choose one I can still continue on through the score. These two things make using this app difficult in a rehearsal setting where you are jumping around a lot. Otherwise this app works very well and is easy to navigate. love the highlight feature.
Confusing & complicated app
The way the app handles and formats sheet music is unwieldy and takes up a lot of space on the screen. It is much cleaner and easier to use a web browser to download the PDF and then use a program such as ForScore to view and make notations on the music.
Great resource, hard to sync
I downloaded the app and purchased a subscription after using IMSLP, but I wasn’t able to log in on both my iPhone and my iPad. I tried a few different things to reset my password, etc, but it wasn’t cooperating. I hope to figure it out, but I don’t know how to make it work.

Subscription fee
I pay a yearly membership fee to imslp. I don’t understand why I would have to pay a monthly fee using the app! I would like to use the app but not if I have to pay monthly especially, since I only use imslp once or twice in a year.

Great, just as useful as the website if not more so. I don’t use paper copies anymore. It does crash every now and then though which in a performance could be catastrophic.
iOS 15.4.1 causing problems
Ever since iOS 15 update it has had many problems. When opening it it works for about three minutes and then I can’t open any scores. The tool bar has been glitchy as well. I’m just disappointed because it’s inconvenient for people who rely on this app and I hope the issues get fixed soon since the updates on ipad and iPhone are causing a lot of problems.
Won’t load
I’ve only used the app one other time and there have been a handful of updates since. The app just won’t load. I open it and get a half loaded page that won’t let me do anything. Not sure if this is just a me problem or if it’s common

Very Satisfactory
This app is much better than the website. I for one was never a huge fan of the website and always thought it was slightly dodgy and full of strange adverts, but the app is well designed and works excellently. The only problem with it, is that several downloads (for example, Hans Gal’s Intermezzi) don’t print from the app and ask you to do it on the website and I sometimes think what is the point of downloading the app if I have to print off the website? But overall, a very good app and definitely worth the download.
Why?
The very first title I called up came back as not available in my country. Guess I’ll go back to using my web browser. The titles are available for download on the website but not the app. I see your response below but I’m wondering why titles that are available on the website are not also available on the app. Thanks.
Sleek look but missing key things
I love the app but here are some suggestions that i think could make it a must-have for every musician: - Easy way to rename music files - different color folders options - more colors for pen and highlighters (to accomodate everyone, i recommend a color wheel and “save color” option similar to Goodnotes - make the pen more adaptable—it’s too hard to write small and neatly and the slightest tilt or pressure will smudge the virtual ink. Overall I think having better tools similar to Goodnotes and some general things would be better.
Great alternative to expensive book
The idea of IMSLP is genius. The app is excellent. Anything you can do to support them, you should do.

I love the IMSLP app - my two small niggles are that there are some things available on the website which aren’t on the app, and it would be really useful to know the instrumentation before downloading.

I have a subscription, but still have to wait 15 seconds to download. this started happening a couple months ago, and I’m not sure why
Useful but restrictive
I’m so glad to have an app for my digital scores. Recently, the app has become very slow, and page turns take up to 5-6 seconds to happen. Also, the eraser often doesn’t work, or after working, the erased things will reappear and then disappear 10 seconds later. Using an iPad Pro for this.
Great app for those always looking for music
Excellent app for those who are continually looking for sheet music. Easy to use and navigate. Allows any musician to find plenty of interesting repertoire or etudes to practice. Basically a must for anyone serious about continually learning music of many varieties

This is very well thought out and presented. My only niggle is that when you are looking at a downloaded score, it’s not obvious or apparently easy to regain the menu bar.

Compatibility with bluetooth pedal
Maybe because of this newest update, the bluetooth pedal stopped working with this app. Nevertheless, great app if it is made compatible again with the pedal.
