LOVE THIS APP!!
This system changed my life. I plan my meals and shopping on Saturdays. No more stress about what I’m making each night. No more running to the store for missing ingredients when I’m cooking. I have my saved recipes, I can search for anything, I can add new recipes! Spectacular!
Gone downhill
I used to love this app and happily subscribed. In the last year numerous bug have cropped up and now I used apple to renew my membership at gold but none of the features are accessible. I tried emailing support multiple times and got no response after two weeks. Very disappointed because I loved the app. Guess I will start looking for a replacement that cares about return customer.
It’s back
App is working well now so I am sticking with the app. FYI - The app was broke for a week.
Not working anymore
Used to be such a great app. Now it has so many glitches. I can’t order from Walmart as the Walmart shopping won’t load in app. Categories don’t display until refresh. Sometimes can’t click buttons, won’t recognize touches and scroll. Quality has really gone downhill, like they’re not using the app to know what needs to be fixed and just doing basic iOS required updates to packets without looking at functionality. Please fix or I’m cancelling my subscription and moving all my recipes.
Used to be amazing but doesn’t work well anymore
I have loved this app and used it for many many years. I loved planning my meals, having it populate to a grocery list, and then being able to shop Walmart grocery directly from there. The last six months to a year, though, there have been so many glitches. It will no longer shot my list for menus that are in the future, and it will no longer shop the Walmart grocery app. I am so sad and frustrated as I have spent years adding all of my recipes to this app. I hope they can fix it.
THE BEST!
I’m amazed how well it’s made. I tried to upload a recipe from anywhere else, and almost perfectly adjusted ingredients/measurements and such in few seconds! Meal planning section is connected with Walmart app, that’s so wonderful and my grocery trip is done in 10 min. I also try to make my own cookbooks so that this is the only place I need when I cook. So many great recipes from food bloggers, I’m having fun discovering. Foodnetwork actually tried similar thing and recently gave up and discontinued their subscription, that I understand why — so many annoying issues between their app and their partners apps(Amazon, Instacart, etc.) I do not see any of issues I had with Food Network here, so well made for all people, bloggers, and just a busy mom like me. Btw, you don’t need to pay for subscription, still tons of recipes accessible. I LOVE IT!
What happened to this app?
I used to love this app and was a paid subscriber for many years. Recently, it’s seemed pretty glitchy, but I figured I’d give it one more try before moving on to something else. I tried to subscribe through the website, but kept getting an error, so I figured I’d just subscribe through the app. Well, I’ve now been charged $120 and have no access to the “gold” features. All the meal plans are still locked, I still have ads, and I don’t have the “Prepear” mode. It doesn’t seem like this app is being updated or supported anymore, so I wouldn’t waste your money. Hopefully I can get a refund since it’s no longer working, but I would steer clear!
Pretty good but missing finer points
Still trying it out but find this app to be better than a few others I am experimenting with. The ability to adjust recipes based on desired servings in a real benefit. Really surprised the app does not adjust to landscape mode, especially for an iPad. I also think the app is a little rough in other ways such as only being able to sort recipes that are not in cookbooks. Hopefully they can make the refinements sooner than later.
Used to be great…
I’ve used this app for years and have so many recipes in it! Now I think it’s no longer being maintained. And there’s no way to log a support request. I’ll be migrating elsewhere.
Is it worth it?
The most frustrating thing about this app is it’s inability to import recipes without getting the “bummer” error. The site you requested asked us not to store the recipe on their site. I found this error is only with this app. The price for a yearly membership is ridiculous. I’m glad I found a better app.
Best to share recipes
Organizing recipes can be tedious. Websites spread out the ingredients and directions and I never remember where I found them the next time I need them. Prepear allows me to load in recipes from the internet or enter my own, organize them, and share them with friends and family. I love having them all in one place and easy to access when I’m ready to use them.
App Decline
EDIT 5/16/26 - UNABLE TO CANCEL! I have been a $99 subscriber for many years however it is time for me to move on. I received my annual renewal notice email for a 5/12/26 date. I have attempted to change my subscription Setting to free version but am unable to. The buttons are there but there if no effect when I click on them. I have messaged customer service multiple times with no response. Now, there subscription appears to have renewed as 5/12/26 has passed, and they renewal date on the billing page now says 5/12/2027. This is unacceptable. Original: The most recent "update" completely wiped my meal planning calendar. So now I have a week of groceries in my fridge with no clue what recipes they are for! Nevermind all if the other recent glitches like not being able to add to the grocery list from the meal planner. So sad. I really rely heavily on this app every day. And there is not a replacement that I've found that I like (compared to when this one was working well), but I might jump ship soon. Very frustrating. The app feels abandoned which is sad because it's such a good concept.
Best online recipe app I’ve used
I’ve really enjoyed using PrePear so far, and am thankful they haven’t completely eliminated the free user option (as has happened to me 2x with other apps). My only quibble is that the iPad app *still* doesn’t have landscape mode, which is the only way I use my iPad when cooking. So I just have to use the desktop mode, and I find that sometimes it freezes or hangs and I have to reload the page to get all my recipes to load. But otherwise I love that you can import recipes from blogs, which works for about 75-80% of the blogs I frequent. (Developers, please feel free to tell me if I just missed where I can switch to landscape mode in the app!)
just ok - marginally
The inability to copy and paste ingredients and instructions into another app dings it a lot. I sent the link to my husband (who does not have the app) in order to copy / paste and it wouldn’t even open the recipe from the web. Canceled my (way too expensive anyway) subscription.
Good Features Disappeared
The new update removed my gold features, and when I try and restore them the app crashes.
Great recipe app
I got Prepear for premium access to How to Feed a Loon cookbooks and recipes. It’s a wonderful app, very easy and intuitive to use. It looks nice and works well. Highly recommend!
Not working
I cannot print or save.
Nice app
I originally downloaded this app because the name aligned with a family joke for me, but it’s actually pretty decent. The UI’s clean, and the connection to Walmart’s online shopping is neat. The subscription is super over-the-top though.
Pls add Landscape
The way it is now is ideal for phones, but I want to experience this from my iPad. The app only operates in portrait mode, so that limits me. Otherwise, a fantastic app! I would quickly change this review to 5 stars if this issue were fixed.
Good idea but glitchy
I love this app and the concept behind it but it’s constantly glitching. I have to close out of the app, it’s freezing, and it consistently erases my meal plan and then I’m stuck trying to rack my brain and remember what I had planned. It’s a good idea just wish it worked consistently.
Great Aop
So easy to follow and wonderful chiefs and the menus are great and delicious…. Even a Non- Cook like me found it easy 🤣
Latest update is unusable
As of this latest update to 26.2.1, the web version of the app is completely broken. Just seeing a blank page. In the iPhone app, I lost 4 months of meals in my planner. Reaching out for help is very hard to find. When I finally found an email, I got an automated reply but have not heard form a human (or even a bot) in over 24 hours. This is unacceptable.
Incessant Pop Ups
The app is great for storing and adding your recipes, but the pop ups when viewing recipes stored online is insufferable! Every five seconds another pop up.
Worked and now won’t
I was really excited about this app and used it for two or three weeks and now I constantly have to log in. When in the pages won’t load. Sometimes I can see one page like the planner but if I switch to another screen, it’s blank. I wish it still worked because it was a great tool.
Crashes when I filter
I love the idea of this app but find it very frustrating when it crashes every time I try to use the filter option.
Updated: Wonderful App with a few Minor Bugs
The one issue I had with this app, see below, was fixed before I posted this review. With the latest update everything works great! So many things to love! 1)I absolutely love that I can create a shopping list directly from the ingredients of recipes with a click of a button! Then I can shop Walmart grocery (which is my preferred grocery right now) in the app. Each ingredient is displayed separately with options from Walmart on what to purchase. If I need more information as I’m shopping I can click on the ingredient and it brings up the info from the recipes, yes, each recipe it’s in. Only problem: right now I can’t checkout in the app, but I am able to checkout in the Walmart app. It doesn’t bother me too much because I usually need to shop for other things on the Walmart app anyway. 2) Using the recipes during cooking is wonderful! Before this app, I had started printing or writing out recipes because I have a hard time cooking with all the scrolling and my device shutting down. This is by far better than paper! I can see the ingredients list at the same time as the recipe, which is genius. I can also cross out what I’ve used or done by clicking on it. It’s one of the ways my four year old likes to help. Cook mode in the app is great. 3) The reason for me taking off one star is because when I try to filter recipes, cookbooks, etc., one of the features that I rely on in most other apps and websites, doesn’t work right now. When I click that I’m done, the app closes and my filters have been forgotten. If this is fixed, I would definitely give a five-star review and recommend this app to everyone.
Buggy-update Lost my recipes and meal plans
Update-there was an app update a couple days ago. Most of my saved recipes are gone now. My meal plan that I did for the rest of the month-gone. First, let me start by saying this app has some great features...that is when they work. The web browser especially is glitchy. The entire bottom inch of the window doesn't work. You can visually see the mouse icon change when you hover over that particular area of the screen. Another thing is that the program doesn't have a way to contact support. There is at least a link on the web browser for that, but it leads nowhere. There is no where on the app itself to be able to contact support to put an issue in.
Almost there
I would be all in five stars if the app would recognize when I’m adding ingredients from a recipe that is already in my planner without making me add the recipe to my planner AGAIN. It’s fine, it’s just an unnecessary step to have to go in and remove it. Otherwise this is absolutely changing for the better my shopping and planning lifestyle, especially with the meal plans that are included in Pro.
Only works in vertical orientation
Seems like a good app, but why does it only work in vertical orientation? Want to search for something, start vertical, set it down type with my head cocked, pick it back up again. This is just really frustrating.
Doesn’t change orientation.
I love this app on my phone, but on my ipad I have quickly uninstalled it because frankly, I don’t like to use apps that won’t account for portrait vs. landscape screen orientations. It seems like such a simnple oversight that would improve usability exponentially. If this is changed in the future I will reinstall and update my rating.
Meal Planning Dream
Signed up for the Six Sisters meal planning and it's so easy! Shaved my weekly meal planning to about 10 minutes! All my recipes in one place. Exports my shopping list to my Walmart delivery app. The app let's you set reminders and alarms for things! No more forgetting to defrost the stupid chicken for dinner!
Old and Tired now
I have been using the gold for 8+ years now and while it was amazing in the past (a real life saver) it now hardly ever works and appears unsupported by ownership. I can’t even get my meals to make a grocery list. I will not be renewing my gold status and unfortunately will need to move to a better supported meal planning app.
Nice and Simple
When I first saw this app, it said it could collect recipes from the web. So I installed it and it really nice and simple, it did what it said. So this is were I store all my web recipes and seclude them. The only drawback is that it is sometimes inaccurate when getting recipes from the web, for example half of the information is on the recipe while the other half is missing. So maybe you could fix that , but other than that I think the app is great!
Used to be good
I used to love this app. I relied on it daily and told all my friends it was a necessity. For the past year or so I’ve had consistent problems with the app asking me to log in over and over again, as well as just not loading. I’ve been halfway through planning a week, had to restart the app (and log in again) only to find out that nothing I did was saved. I really really want this app to work. I spoke with support a year ago and was told the issue was that I used Facebook to login. So we changed my login. It worked for a while and now we’re back to pulling teeth. Annoying because I rely on this app and all my recipes are already in there.
Great App
Love Prepear. It has made meal planning and shopping so much easier. In less than 15 minutes, I can have dinner plans for the week and my shopping list.
What happened?
I heavily rely on this app but it has had too many glitches over the last year that I wish I wouldn’t have renewed my subscription because they still haven’t been fixed even though support has said the issues are resolved. Such a bummer! It was amazing before.
Good App
It is an application with a lot of potential, although it has some details to polish for me it has a lot of potential. By the way, good luck with the lawsuit, I hope it doesn't affect you at all
Update messed everything up
I now have to sign in every single time I open the app and it is crashing too often. I click on a recipe and only the photo shows. When I clear out the app and open it again, it brings up the recipe, as it should, AFTER I sign in again. It is a good app for meal prep, with a great database, but I’m hating the app right now
So helpful for everyday cooking!!
I use Prepear golden pear subscription to meal prep for the week. There are adjustable serving sizes and left of recipes to choose from! I love being able to add any recipe I find online to my cookbooks and access them. This app seemed pricy at first, but honestly, it’s worth it to start eating healthier and work on portion control. I love it.
I’ve used this app for years—why is it crashing???
I’ve used this app for years and I can’t add a menu plan now. It’s crashes automatically. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled, turned my phone off and on, kicked it, punched it- nothing! Please fix this!
Great tool
I have just started using this app and so far it has a lot of great features. The grocery list isn’t the most intuitive and doesn’t seem to combine items from different recipes.
So long
This was the BEST app - in the beginning. Now there is no way to realistically use it without subscribing. And that’s gonna cost you $120 a year! That’s just insane. I know, I know, you’re just looking out for the recipe developers. But they’ve got so many ads on their websites that it’s almost impossible to look at a recipe Sorry Prepear but you’re not the only kid on the block. I’m gonna be looking for another place to hang my apron.
Love this app
It has it all. The ability to plan for an extended period of time. I do it for the month. The ability to add your own recipes or use from the many cookbooks that are listed. And the grocery list is easy to use. The only thing i would like to see is the ability to use the landscape mode on the iPad. I do realize it is available on the cook mode but not the planning mode. Update: i started with the free trial on six sisters. I immediately started getting emails for prepear gold. It was very confusing and i was not sure if i got gold if i would still have access to six sisters. I finally canceled six sisters and went with prepear gold
Frustrated
It works fine on my iPad but I can’t login on my iPhone. I need the shopping list on my phone. I’m not going to drag my iPad to the store! My iPad just remembers me and opens up but my phone keeps saying I have an account in google. I’m sick I’ve paid $120 and it won’t work on my phone.
Easy app to use
So far so good! Store my recipes from both the internet and typing in your own in. Easy to see what you’ve added. There were teething problems at start but support was great fixing
Buggy & now best features are behind a paywall
When I first started using this app over a year ago, it seemed like exactly what I was looking for. I loved that I could save & modify recipes from online and share them with friends. There were numerous bugs (issues with adding photos, recipes never being removed no many how many times I deleted them or refreshed the app, no response from devs after numerous attempts to contact them about said issues), but I kept using it because it still seemed like the best option. Today, I log in to find that I can no longer view MY OWN directions on a recipe I adapted without paying for premium service. Given that the issues I’ve add with the app from Day 1 still have not been resolved and now I can’t even access my own content without paying for it, I will be deleting the app.
