Great for couples who track expenses together
After testing a heap of apps over the past year I’ve found that Expenses is the ONLY app that allows couples to enter expenses from their own phones (and their own Apple accounts) and shows them all in one panel. The app is simple, clean, fast and I like that we can set budgets (limits) to any category and see how close we are to going over. Another decent app is Monefy, but it’s sync features never worked for us and it required using a third party like Dropbox to sync data. Other apps sync via iCloud which keeps couples from sharing data. Expenses is great in that it handles all the data transfer for us, keeping our phones up to date with all our expenses. A+
Don’t subscribe
No updates in the last 3 years. Future uncertain. Not optimized for iOS 18. Update October’25: After 3 years, the developer puts out a new version with cero improvements, bug fixes or Liquid Glass design.
Exactly what we needed!
Works well for a couple. On my disadvantage is not being able to track individual contributions to a specific category.
Ads in premium :(
Decent enough app but then they launched ads in Premium. Will be finding a different app
Update not helpful
The update does not allow us to write the store (comment) without scrolling down, which is less convenient
Simple, powerful, and effective
My fiancé and I have been using Our Expenses for years, and we love it! Simple to use and always reliable.
Ads?
Hate the fact that they added ads! On the opening screen and then as you add an expense. New layout is terrible too. Before, you had a photos with what was owed underneath. Easy to quickly see. Now its a list. Will have to look for another app.
Not for Android phones
Sadly, I sent it to my husband to learn that it is not supported on Android phone.
Feedback
Adding photo upload function would be helpful for a digital record of paper invoices/receipts

My husband and I cannot figure out why the app refuses to reset the budget at the 1st of the month. We don’t want to delete the app, we even paid for the subscription but if we can’t get this figured out we will have to go with a different app

Great app but not on android??
Love the app, it’s great and simple for couples but my only issue is that she has an android phone and doesn’t want to give it up for this app. Is there no android app in development for couple when one (or both) of them do not have an iPhone??
Disappointed
Not intuitive, frustrating to set up. Cancelled same day despite paying premium.
Having issues with App getting stuck
After every entry the app gets stuck and I have to kill n relaunch. This is so pathetic . Please fix it asap. Happy to edit the rating later
Great app, works perfectly
I used this app with my partner for years before we got married. As an iOS dev I applaud the simplicity and beauty of this app. It’s smooth, works consistently, and supports many iOS native features! Well done!
Bad updates
They made a new update. Overall feature stayed exactly the same, but they added ad.
Great app
It’s a great app but it would be good to have an option to filter the entries based category.
I can’t access to an old account
I change my phone I now I can’t log in with Facebook and neither recover a password. 🙁
Needs an income feature
I like the interface but need to be able to input incoming funds not just balance settling.
Best app for joint expenses!
My wife and I love this app. We keep our finances separate, but as a married unit, of course we have joint expenses. This app allows us to keep track of what we spend for the household, and we essentially never have to exchange money!
Glitchy
The app has started glitching out and doesn’t save budget changes.
Great app but doesn’t need to be subscription
I’ve been using this app for years and haven’t noticed or needed any new features, so I’m not quite sure why the premium version is subscription only. I’d happily pay for a one time purchase to remove the ads.
Simple but effective
It’s good but all manual. That is fine but the privacy policy is insane for what could be all on device and coordinated exchange. Add an iCloud backup option and ditch the google analytics.
Crucial feature missing
This app is easy, and straight forward. But it needs an income feature. Any variable income that occurs unexpectedly is annoying to input and not track able over time.
The perfect solution
This app is the perfect solution for a families personal budget. It takes each person staying dedicated to entry, but it works great.

Great app, I have been a paying user for two years now. I just wish it would have M1 support so I could enter my expenses while using my MacBook
Almost there but no graph of expenses
This app is SO close to what I need. It’s lacking one crucial feature, a graph to show the breakdown of expenses by category i.e. gas, groceries, etc. Pros: you can enter spending manually without linking a bank account, you can share info with another person, it’s not overly complex (it’s basically a calculator). Cons: lacks visual component for overview of expense categories. Please please add this feature!
Incredible Budget App!
My wife and I love this app! It has helped us really fine tune our budget. We are not great about staying within our budget, but this app is so helpful in keeping us accountable to each other and really pushes us to stay on track. We have learned that being open about our spending habits has helped us be better planners/savers
Paid for premium wouldn’t restore
I paid for the premium feature and it won’t restore it. Please fix this right away

Solid app for managing shared expenses!
My husband and I have been using this for a year or so and enjoy being able to easily split all our expenses down the middle. Recent updates have led to a smoother experience which is great!
Freeze on iPhone 8
I just downloaded- keeps on freezing on my iPhone ... gonna delete it - dont have time to deal with these issues on an app.
Love it except...
It is amazing that both people can enter expenses simultaneously and that task doesn’t fall to one partner but it will only let me set a monthly budget and I need no monthly.
Inflexible
This App isn’t actually that helpful for couples who combine incomes completely and are trying to keep track of spending one. It’s just for seeing who owes who if you split 50/50 all the time, which makes it a bit over-specific in my view. Features that would make it more useful for us would include: being able to set the beginning and end of a month based on the actual dates we get paid. Because we couldn’t set a new month we considered deleting everything so far and starting again- but you can’t even do that without deleting your account. Also: being able to click on any given month and see what you spent in a single category (eg eating eat) and set budgets for each month in various categories. Prompts on what you had left would be great too.
Well worth a shout out.
Highly useful, focused app. Prevents a lot of needless squabbles in the household when squaring away expenses. Developer is responsive to feedback and follows up: that is the best feature of any app. Deserving of praise (and a subscription!).
New Update brought app backwards
The main reason for using this app is to easily track who spends and on what items. The new update has taken away the quick view area to that compared spending of both partners in any given month. Disappointing.

Easiest way to get 90% of expense tracking done
I’ve been using this app for two years already. Great and easy app to track expenses for couples. It covers 90% of functionality and supports csv export, so you can do the rest in excel (e.g charts). It does not integrate with your banking software, which has its own pros and cons.
