App doesn’t pair with mug. Very poor design.
Heads up
The new update logs you out. To log back in you enter your email and then it sends you a link in an email back to the app… But the app has to be completely closed first… If you leave the app open, the link will not work.
Doesn’t work well at all.
I have had an account /mug for several years. Too often I am automatically logged out and my account is lost. The app doesn’t remember me. Re log in, no mug saved. Try to pair the mug, pairs but then the app just locks up. Cannot interact with the mug or set the heat temp. Pointless. I’ll just go get a normal ceramic mug out of the cabinet. Stupid app and you’ve made it too complicated. I just want to keep my coffee warm. You seem more interested in selling me another mug . Not going to happen like this.
Unreliable
I love my Ember mug when it works. I am definitely a babysitter of drinks, so this works fabulously for my coffee and my tea. However, it is not reliable. Sometimes you get a nice long stretch where it’s working as it should. and then other times it reads empty, or the temperature is not adjusting properly. Here’s hoping that the next update will provide some long-term to stability.
Hard to believe how bad this app is
This app is actually such an insult to the customer it’s hard to believe this product line is still going.
Never works
Why does this stupid mug need an app. Put the controls DIRECTLY on the mug! The app NEVER WORKS!!

Ehh….
Yeah, the app is great in theory, but in practice? Not so much. It’s a constant battle of restarting the app 3-5 times to even turn the warming feature on, and that’s assuming it even recognizes there’s liquid in the mug. There’s potential, but the execution is poor.
App needs fixing
The app keeps disconnecting and unpairing then it takes forever to repair. I have had to delete the app and reboot my iPhone several times to reconnect my mug. This has been going on for so ling it has become tradition.

It’s asking me to connect to my mug after no using it for a while. I did the reconnect, and the device was not list under. I did this whole reconnecting many times. Tried on different accounts. Still not working. If you cannot fix the Bluetooth connection, at least provide some physical buttons to adjust the mug temperature, do it doesn’t become useless.

Great idea but…
This product is awesome when it works. I’ve needed a replacement charging plate. Now my original mug refuses to pair with the app/phone. I’m unable to confirm it’s charging either. The light doesn’t go to green as it should. A mug held in reserve & never used charges & pairs but doesn’t heat the coffee. For as expensive as this product is, the reliability factor is a fail. And like every other company, talking to a person is impossible.
Lovely mug but
3* working again. Deleted reinstalled and logged on and I was able to pair my mugs again. ###### 1* Just an update. I can’t pair either of my mugs anymore. Both are found but them then the app says “can’t pair right now” ### 2* Terrible app. Had been working for a while. Not now. Can’t log in properly, finds mug but won’t pair it so can set temperature etc. amazing to make such a great product then drive us away with terrible software and sign ins etc

stopped pairing
I’ve had Ember mugs for about five years now, but for the first time, over the last few months, the app has stopped pairing. It’s pretty clear from all the comments that I’m not the only person in this situation, and I am not sure why they haven’t fixed it.
When Apple Watch coming?
Works well for iphone, able to control both the mug and flask, however when will you add Apple Watch support so I can control mt devices from my watch?
App no longer connects
Just like many others, my app will no longer connect to the one mug that will actually pair with it once it pairs up. I’m unable to even pair my second mug any longer. Wish I could roll back the update!!
Confusion after update
I love my Ember mug because I take forever to drink my coffee. I’ve been using the app for years but with a recent big update, I guess my account was deleted, my 2 mugs were unpaired from the app and I lost all my settings, so that was frustrating. I created a new account and started fresh, but my mug wouldn’t pair because the Confirm Pairing button wouldn’t display for me. I had to delete the app, redownload it, and then a few prompts I hadn’t seen before now appears. Thankfully, we’re connected again so no more cold coffee!
Can we have a widget please?
Works great but would be so much more useful with a iPhone widget and a apple watch app.

Good product, horrible app
The controls for the mug are not intuitive at all, and there is zero instruction on how anything works. Really poor app design.
Ok, but not great.
The app works mostly ok, but the LED colour select doesn’t work properly. There’s also no option for an ember widget, which is annoying.
No more scalded lips
Very useful way to ensure the drinks I want are exactly at the right temperature to enjoy. Also, the ability to monitor your caffeine level is helpful if you are prone to drinking too much. I’m VERY disappointed that you’ve dropped EMBER for Apple Watch. Please bring it back since I used it frequently
Broken
App has been broken and non functional for quite a while. All my Ember mugs were unpaired and the app can't pair them again. Makes the app useless.

New update not working
This was a Mothers Day gift last year and I have loved using it. After this last update however, the apps no longer work. I can’t even sign in. I am deeply disappointed.
Leaves a bit to be desired
The cup and app don’t always work together, I will often enough fill my cup with hot coffee only to find out 20 mins later the cup never recognized it being filled and when I go into the app it won’t turn the cup on to heat it because it detects it as empty. There should be an option to turn the mug on even if it doesn’t think it’s full.
Less waste, more enojment!
I used to make 6 or so cups of tea in a day, but drink about 1/3 of each becuase they always went cold. Now I have a cup of tea that is always at a good hot drinking tempertaure. Fantastic cup!
So disappointing
I used to love Ember products. But the last two I have had, both mugs, just stop working. I got a new one and after about three months or so, I started having difficulty pairing. It required me to pair every morning. Now it won’t pair at all. I don’t have time to try to figure this out every morning when I sit down to work. Unless something magical happens, I’m done with Ember and will start looking for other options.
Temperature doesn’t show correctly
The app is unable to display a temperature lower than 50 degrees Celsius. It used to be able to show temps like 20 degrees etc. Please fix. I want to know the actual temperature :)
Better, but still not good
Credit where due: this app has improved a lot over the years. It used to require force-quitting most days just to get it to connect. Now it connects reliably most of the time. But this morning it asked me to log in again despite already having an account. I logged in, and my mug was gone — device list empty, so I had to re-pair it from scratch just to check my tea’s temperature. A mug I’ve already paired shouldn’t disappear from my account after a login. Not asking for much: just let me see the temperature and set the temperature without losing my device every time the app decides to log me out.
Needs investment
Software is key for a smart product. While the basics work here, the app has had no development. Widget? Dark mode?
Game changer!
I’ve got two now. One at home and one at work. Felt excessive spending this much on a cup but wow just wow. I’ve drank so many cold cups of coffee over the years because I’ve been called away for something urgent. Now my coffee stays hot to the last drop and I’m very happy about that. So honestly, if you’re looking for a hot drink and living the busy work or distracted parent life or both. Treat yourself to an ember.
Total ripoff
For $150, this product is a total scam. It will keep your coffee barely look warm, but if you like it hot, you need to keep fidgeting with the app, (opening it) to get it to the temperature you want, then once you return to doing other things on your phone, the temp will drop again. It also struggles with a full mug. It’s pure folly & a very dreary experience. Overall, Ember in its current state is a total scam. It’s pretty incredible they can get away selling such a faulty product.

Poor Bluetooth Pairing
When it works, it’s great. Problem is it doesn’t work more than it works. Yes, the cup does work without the app, but the app is where you set the temp & check the battery. I have four Ember cups, so that tells you how much I like the cups. I’m a slow coffee drinker. The app is not capable of keeping all of the cups paired. So, some mornings it’s lukewarm vs the max temp I prefer. I’m pairing with both an iPhone & iPad. PLEASE make the app more compatible with multiple cups.

I live in a cold town and when you’re busy this is actually a nice little perk in your day. You select your perfect temperature and it’s very quick.
Stopped Working
App stopped working after a while. Won’t connect to my iPhone anymore. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, went through all the trouble shooting steps and nothing works.

The Ember cup makes coffee lovers feel happy every single time when you have some coffee. But it would be better if the cup’s battery can last longer.

I’ve had an ember mug now for well over a year and it’s been a good product. Unfortunately, their last update completely broke the pairing with the mug itself. The mug is now a useless paper weight, locked on a temperature I can’t control. While the company has been responsive to emails, they’ve given no indication as to when they will have a fix for this problem. As such, my mug is virtually useless, just like many others. It would be nice if they could indicate to us when this will be fixed, but until such time, I wouldn’t purchase this mug or anything that uses this app and an iPhone until it’s fixed.
Terrible app for an awesome mug
I’ve had my mug for approx 18 months and it has been awesome! I have used it most days, twice a day and it has never had an issue. Months ago I wanted to reset the temperature on my ember so I attempted logging into the app - and I’ve never been able to log in since. I did send ember support a message in June and received a reply stating the app was being updated to enable it to function with the latest iOS update, but since then, nothing. Multiple deletes, hard resets and still no joy. Given its unreliability, some comms on the website would be helpful???

Received my Ember Mug as a Christmas present and absolutely love it. Never have a luke warm tea at home ever again. I just need one for work now as my tea always ends up cold by the time I get to drink it. Highly recommend it.
Terrible App, Terrible Customer Service
I’ve had my Ember Mug II for 1 1/2 yrs. The app has always been spotty, but even customer service admitted yesterday they were aware of newer issues relative to the app that haven’t been addressed yet. I suspect this is what they’ve been told to tell consumers, but I wouldn’t expect anything released “very soon” as they’ve mentioned. That said, customer service has always known they have a glitchy mug/app situation on their hands (look at their mug reviews), so you’d think they would be more accommodating, but you can easily spend entirely too much time attempting to reach them and provide information only to end up with vague answers and already-widely published “deals” for their loyal customers (translation: no special deal). For a $150 mug, the app and customer service is sub-par at best. Oh, and as soon as you point out that they aren’t actually offering them anything special as a remedy… they stop communicating.

App Designers, Do Better
This Ember app is one of the most difficult apps I’ve ever had the experience of using in that syncing with the cup via Bluetooth is problematic. It’s problematic because I often have difficulty reconnecting the app to the cup, which ultimately requires me to uninstall the app, reinstall the app and then re-login. Very cumbersome and takes a lot of time. I’ve stopped using the cups and the app over the last couple months simply because it takes too much time just to keep my coffee warm. The designers need to do better.
App is okay - bring back Apple Watch app
The app itself is okay. Straightforward, no issues so far. But I do miss the app on my Apple Watch. Please bring it back guys 🥹
