Worth every penny!
Absolutely loved it. We would have missed so much if not for the app. We were confident we wouldn’t get lost. The music and stories were wonderful and completed the experience.
No use when it mattered
TBH I didn’t see the point. It was great initially and we missed every single waterfall! All 12!! Inaccurate information or none whatsoever ever where it mattered.
Best Audio Tour (Except they keep some secrets!)
Great choices for stops. Clear directions and commentary. Except there are some stops they leave out, but for good reason so it’s tough to blame them. These are “local only” spots and I guess it’s now an “if you know you know” type deal. My favorite stop to the road to Hana isn’t listed on here and it’s called “Venus Pool”, and it’s one of the most breathtaking places you could ever visit. Black sand beach, with a swimmable tide pool attached. You can also cliff jump into the pool. I could’ve sworn it use to be listed in the guide (as I’ve used Shaka before), but it no longer does. Good luck on your journey to Hana, and if you can find the secret spot about 10 minutes past Hana town then this Guide is the only other thing you’ll need!
Location issues
Information was good and entertaining, but it did not match up with our location. Although the app showed our location on the map, it would keep playing ahead and would be several stops ahead of us throughout the trip - both ways. I had to keep pausing it and then checking with Google Maps to see where we were to try to time the guide to play at appropriate locations. This was frustrating and would have been impossible if you were driving by yourself. Hopefully this is a bug that gets fixed
Best App Ever
The shocker guy made our whole journey along the road to Hannah so flawless. We had no problems with the app at all. It got us from .8 to point B so efficiently in the narration along the whole way, made the trip that much better. The attention to detail across everything in the app is a standing. I recommend any of their apps to anyone that is reversing any park or unfamiliar land.
Classic Road to Hana
Could not access the tour. The GPS signal did not work on the road to Hana. Extremely disappointing. We were counting on you!!!
Great tour guide!
This was a wonderful guide up the mountain!! We had time slots for black sand beach to meet so we had to skip spots but tried to stop on the way down and couldn't figure out how to reverse the directions for the stops since the way down was more history stories. Overall very happy with this guide, this saved us with no cell service!
Starts and stops
While the overall content, map and design were helpful, the downloaded guide would stop playing at many points of interest, requiring manual restart, or would keep playing music and miss points of interest. I also kept getting repeated prompts to turn on location services to "always" even though I had done this before the tour began. 7/10. -3 for annoyance

Audio did work even though the map is downloaded ahead of time
I bought the bundle. It worked well on haleakala but On road to hana the audio didn't work even though the map was downloaded. Tried everything, with and without Bluetooth connedted to the car, with or without data on, tried to close and reopen. It just didn't work.

Uncle Shaka and his team did an outstanding job! We loved all the information, tips, stops, and keeping us on the right path! The stories, music, and directions were GREAT!
Didn’t work
Used for Oahu and was great. Cut out 20 mins into the Road to Hana trip and couldn’t get it back. Wasted most of the day as missed most of the sights.

Great
I was pretty skeptical before purchasing. It was my first time in Maui and I wanted a good trip. This guide was so good! I learned about the land while being able to just enjoy the ride. It felt like listening to a audio book. The suggestions for the stops are great as well. If you are purchasing this app for Hana road you will love it!

Classic road to Hana
The tour was really helpful and reviewed places we would’ve missed otherwise. It provided us with some historical background of Hawaii which was rather interesting. I think it was absolutely worth it!

Not what it seems
App ist umsonst, guided tours muss man aber kaufen, sonst ist sie komplett sinnlos. Schade!!
Great option if you want to take your own time
Great app and information about the routes. GPS and maps worked fine if downloaded before hand. One of the tours we did Int he reverse order and the key points were a bit out of place but otherwise great option!
Great tours of Hana and Haleakala
The Shaka Guide Maui came recommended by someone at our hotel. I bought the full package for Maui, but we only got to do the Road to Hana (a full day), and Haleakala at Sunset (we did it in 5 hours). Both tours were excellent and enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The app worked flawlessly and used GPS to explain highlights on our trip. In between landmarks, the music was great. On the way back, the history of Maui was interesting and the quality of the story-telling top notch. I highly recommend Shaka Guide Maui!

Gute, sehr sinnvolle App für die Straße nach Hana. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es, weil zum einen die Grund - App, dann aber auch jede Route kostet, was zumindest für mich ohne Weiteres nicht zu erkennen war. Technische Schwierigkeiten gab es bei der Kombination mit gleichzeitigem Laden auch. Das könnte aber an uns liegen.

The only way to travel with the locals
So often see exploitative costs offered by tour companies when all you need is this app. It covers a lot of important stuff including geology-geography, history, economics, culture and language with local music (of good quality) thrown in - all linked to GPS. So nice to travel in the comfort of our car picking and choosing where and when to move without waiting for the interminable loading of buses of unfit overweight travellers. If we could afford a real person this good that would be perhaps better. A must for those who are on a budget or just like a smaller more intimate experience.

This app is amazing. It made an amazing drive even better than we could have possibly imagined. Plus it was so easy to use and full of helpful information to plan our day as we went.
Great experience
Worth the money if you drive the road to Hana for the first time! A lot of hidden spots, tipps and background information make the tour even more exciting, good job! Tours need to be bought separately (classic way, reverse, loop, ... - would be nice to offer the tour with a one-time purchase in each direction, but if you know exactely the route you will drive it's easy to choose the right package).
