Necessity!!
This app was a game changer on my Hana trip. Having access to the offline map and guide was basically a necessity for certain parts of the trip due to lack of cell service. I would totally recommend this to anyone doing a road to Hana trip!!!!
Because 0 wasn’t an option
So frustrating trying to use. Just don’t. And one of my items wouldn’t even download for use. Cannot recommend. 🤦🏽♀️
Very helpful
So glad we bought this app. Made our trip much easier and more enjoyable. Good content. One little glitch, it seemed to start for about ten seconds, then repeat again at the start of each segment. But no big deal. Highly recommend this if you secide to do Hana.
Not as helpful or as detailed as other guided travel apps
We downloaded this app for the Road To Hana trip when we were in Maui last time. We thought it was the same one. We had used last year, but it was not sad sadly. It skipped over a bunch of places that we had seen the year before thanks to the other app, which we still cannot figure out which one we had used last year, but it was not this one. This one was more generic, had a stop at only the typical stops along the way to Hannah and was extremely repetitive with the introduction of every new stop. I mean, seriously, borderline Uber annoying
Good content but buggy: freezes, stutters, crashes
Good content, good interface, but app was super frustrating because it kept freezing, then audio would jump ahead 20 seconds. Or it would freeze entirely. Or I would have to force quit the app, then reboot phone. Arg
Must have!
The Road to Hana is a fun trip, and we made the full loop around. The additional commentary about the islands history, stops and “see this from the road” were worth it. I would use again! Full trip around was 12 hours long and we stopped at only 5 must see stops including the hike of the Pipiwi Trail.
Not very good
I downloaded this app at the condo like it suggests. When I got into areas of limited or no service the app would stop working, be dead for a few minutes and then start back up at the next point of interest.
Maui road to Hana
The app was very enjoyable and helpful to make the drive. I’m glad someone told me about the app!
Not worth it
The app would have show off the road and then the narration would stop even though we were still driving on the road. We missed almost half of the narration due to this. And then when it did play it would often be delayed and we would miss the turn offs mentioned.
The app giave some cool insights
I had to hit the “map” button every time the narrator started or an annoying beep would go off. When we were out of cell range the app would crash a few times. Even restarted my device to see if it helped. A bit frustrating. Better to have someone other than the driver to tend to the app! Some of the announcements came late and we had to do a tight u-turn to get to the point of interest. Granted, the Europeans did some damage in the past, there were plenty of references to ethnic bias. We loved the Road to Hanna and don’t regret it.
Love it !
The tour itself was awesome. We found the music a bit annoying but that’s just a personal preference. We are older and couldn’t hear unless we turned the volume up so the music got irritating. I was glad we could turn it off. The tour guide told us everything we could have hoped to know. It gave us tips about spots you would only expect from a local. There’s only one reason I am giving 4 stars and it is not the fault of the app. On the road to Hana, we kept losing cell service and we missed a few spots. All in all, I was very happy with the app itself. Update…I received a response from the developer explaining that the tour should be fully downloaded before going on the road to Hana to avoid the loss of information when there was no internet access. I’m not very tech savvy but I’m sure most people are better at it. It was my error that I didn’t follow instructions fully so I’ll change my review to 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Unstable
Downloaded the Road to Hana and this App gave me nothing but problems. Would freeze and often crash. When restarting it tries to connect to the internet (even though the audio tour was already downloaded) and hangs because places like Hana don’t have cell service. The commentary was good when it was working but this app is a headache. Wish I could get my $$ back.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the best experience with this app. To start, there was an annoying beep that would keep beeping unless you click on the map view. Secondly, I was really disappointed because most of the drive, I didn’t have service so that meant the app didn’t work. I thought it would at least have the narration downloaded to the phone to be able to at least manually play each audio clip. Only got to listen to a few of the audio clips before my service ran out and we couldn’t use the app. The UI is a bit counterintuitive.
Needs updating
I think it was spot 14 , must see this vista and park in church lot … drive several miles down a horrible road surrounded by shady houses and people . Get to the church and there are signs posted all over, tourist don’t park here ,no parking. This app sends you to places you aren’t wanted .

Very poor service
The tour kept starting and stopping mid way through the descriptions. It was also replaying certain sections over and over. It also missed and didn’t give us enough time to see certain attractions until we were past them.
Thorough app
Driving solo I thought I could map and drive but it was too difficult. Plus there was no Verizon signal most of the trip. And offline maps wasn’t showing sites. The app allowed me to drive, focus on the road, and know when to turn off for a site. The app features a route, sites, and history of Maui. The cost is $10 but I think it’s worth it.
Needs work
Technically the program is brilliant. Comes on as you drive to tell you history or information about what’s coming up. But the content is SERIOUSLY lacking. How do you give information about the history of the taro root or the relationship between George Harrison and his landscaper… but not a mention or whisper of such upcoming attractions such as the Black Sand Beach, Seven Springs or even Lindbergh’s gravesite? I needed assistance in locating or accessing important stops much more than interesting (but hardly vital) history.
Perfect Timing
Excellent production. So timely and spot on to what we were thinking. It really felt like we had our own private tour. I loved the Hawaiian History lesson on the way home.

Great audio, needs better map
The audio was very informative, and was great that the audio was automatic, but the map was where the audio started and not where the actual stop was located making it difficult to use this app to navigate the road.

We loved our Road to Hana drive! The GPS audio told us exactly where to stop and shared fun stories about Hawaiian. It made the drive smooth and enjoyable for the whole family. Highly recommend!
Terrible App!
We tried using this app and paid for Both tours for the road to Hana in Maui. Because it is NOT clear when you’ve purchased it. It never downloaded and therefore would NOT work on the Road to Hana sue to the spotty or lack of Cell reception. Even after it was “Downloaded” we made three of the many many narrated stops and it would kick Me out of the App and then if by chance we got in service, it would not pick back up and the app page froze!
Nice details!
Enjoyed this tour. And the fact that it would just pick up as you were driving along the road. My one tip to the narrator is to stop telling you to keep “driving straight”. As the road is incredibly curvy! So giving different directions or just saying follow the highway would be much more accurate! LOL. There could be more variety in between beginnings and ends as well. But the detours were all worth it and the details were great! Would love a route that did full loop, too!

The app beeps every time the car moves, like a time bomb or something😂😂 It is $8 which isn’t the end of the world, but avoid this app if you can

We enjoyed learning about the island during our drive and it is helpful to know where you’re going when cell service is out, because the app still works.
Wouldn’t recommend
The app didnt work. Every time we tried to turn it on there was this terrible beeping sound. Presumably because it couldn’t connect to the GPS on my phone. Very disappointed.

We’ve taken the road to Hana before but this app and guided tour made it more enjoyable and gave us tips where to stop to have the best experience. I highly recommend spending the $7.95 for this experience.
