What a Game Changer
I wasn’t going to bother getting the App. We have been to Kauai many times. I decided to give it a try and we are glad we did. It is informative and very entertaining. Thanks!
Too much changed!!!
After purchasing several versions of the Big Island Revealed book I was thrilled that they went to an interactive app format several years ago. This year I went to update and discovered a new app engine was required. So I downloaded and purchased the subscription only to find it is virtually unusable. The least intuitive app I have ever used. Clunky engine that does not work interactively well. The number of restaurants and beaches and sites that aren’t covered or impossible to find is unfathomable. I’m really sorry because the original material was great. This was a big disappointment and I’ve already cancelled the subscription.
Love the book!
I purchased the book and found out there is an app. I’m having issues with accessing the content
Disappointed
Book is worthwhile but in some instances outdated. Revealed App is is much less useful since for many of the reviews you have to upgrade to the “premium” level at significant cost.
Won’t Activate Subscription
Won’t let me restore my purchases.
Best on the market
This company puts out the most insightful and well presented travel guides I’ve yet seen, and I’ve seen a bunch. There’s a user friendly authenticity to their stuff that makes traveling so much more enjoyable.
Already bought the book
Do you want me to buy your book or your app? Ridiculous.
Unimpressed with revised app
I purchased the original app several times, but I feel they have removed so much from the Where to Stay feature that using it is difficult and fairly useless. Bummer.
The guide is great but…
I love the content of the guide, but I find it so annoying that I have to log in to my account every time I use it. Why can’t it remember me? I even downloaded all the content, but it still asks me to log in every time. I’m afraid I won’t be able to access the guide if I don’t have data.
Excellent Drive tours
We bought the Kauai and Big Island drive tours and the content was helpful, entertaining and educational. The content turns on based on the gps signals. The advice on the lookouts in Kauai was spot on. The technology truly functioned as if we hired an actual local guide riding in the car with us. Customer service was very responsive. Highly highly recommend the drive tours even if it’s an additional cost. The value we derived was worth it.
Not at all happy
Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. I used their print version for years and really enjoyed them. The app is terrible- It is awkward to navigate, focuses on a lot of retail. The app fails to recognize that I have paid for the “upgraded” edition and so won’t let me access any of the truly useful information. Really poor and disappointing execution of this app when compared with their books. No way to contact customer service- ? Maybe customer service isn’t of any interest to them?
Costs keep coming
This could be helpful but beware the continued costs. Cost for premium content but you can at least pull up the points of interests and search them elsewhere. The driving tour is also a separate charge. For planning a single trip, things like subscription really seem like a mismatch between the app and the audience.
Amazing!
Got this audio and book guide for my 5th trip to Kauai and it taught me so many new things and sights! Amazing app - worth it!
Glitchy
Makes me sign in with my Apple ID almost every time I open the app. The app sometimes doesn’t pause my music and just starts talking over the music so you can’t hear what he’s talking about. When I was in poor service areas, the app didn’t function. I used this app on a trip to Kauai 4 years ago and it seemed to function much better.
Family sharing not supported?
Traveling with my wife and it’s highly inconvenient that only one of our phones can use the guide. If sharing is supported it doesn’t work out of the box and it’s unclear how to make it work. I’ve also tried to login with the same username, but that seems to fail. The password recovery functionality also seems broken. The email with recovery code is never received. The content of the guides is great! I just wish it was easier to use from multiple devices.
Excellent guide
We used this extensively on our Kauai trip and found it to be entertaining and informative. He points out things that are definitely worth the stop and advises you when they are not. We loved it.
Upgrade not working
I purchased the upgrade which is a monthly charge. Because I didn’t want it to renew on April 19, I cancelled the subscription. Apple says the subscription will cancel on April 19. None of the upgrades are working.
Used to be great
I’ve had this app for a few years on my iPad and iPhone. Until this last update all was good. Now I can’t get it to load correctly on my iPad. No problem on my phone. I’ve emailed the developer with no response. It’s a little frustrating.
Worth Every Penny
My family went to the Big Island, Maui, and Kauai and we downloaded the driving tours for each island. We had a grandparent, middle age adults, teenager, and 9/10 year olds and we ALL loved the fascinating history, facts and the personal experiences Andrew shares. We laughed out loud many times and it gave us so much to discuss. It enhanced our travels and enjoyment SO much and I can’t wait to try his driving tours for other locations.
Not working
Not connecting to data. Can’t get past first screen to set up
Raving Review
My husband and I absolutely adore this app! It’s both informative and entertaining, packed with fascinating information—from historical tidbits to some less-than-pleasant family stories (like inbreeding) and even tales of Kamehameha’s incredible strength (think Hercules!). It describes the island’s descendants and notable figures.
Log on Glitch
The app currently has a glitch. When attempting to log in, it does not open the app. Tried resetting the password with the same result. Double checked to make sure this was not a password error by entering the password incorrectly and this produced the password error message. In conclusion, the app is not opening with the correct password.
Must get for Big Island travel!!
We had such a great experience using the Revealed app! Andrew made everything come alive with fun facts, interesting spots we never would’ve found on our own, and a perfect mix of engaging conversation and humor. It honestly felt like having a knowledgeable (and funny) local guide with us the whole time. Our whole family loved it—kids and adults alike—and it added so much to our trip. We’d absolutely recommend this app to anyone looking to explore in a more fun and meaningful way!
Yikes. Watch out
I’ve loved the Kauai reviewed by wizard for years. When I renewed on the Kauai reviews app they were happy to take my money. But the app doesn’t work. It appears to be shifted to this app. But the money paid to them on the other app doesn’t apply. Now it app that I’m out 17.99. In general I’ve enjoyed their reviews over the past 20 years. Some real ONO experiences. Disappointed by this latest switch and update
Mandatory Travel Guide!
This is the second time I’ve used Revealed with almost 20 years in between visits, it’s absolutely incredible! I used the book the 1st time and then now used the app for the Big Island and Kauai, game changer! I was so impressed before with the details and insight from the books, but what Andrew and his team had done with technology using the app and GPS tour guide is unparalleled. I had already given two different families the heads up about the books in the past and they thanked me for the advice. But now using the app to save Favorites, Maps, and built in tour guide gives you everything you need! It’s worth every penny and then some. Thank you for making our trip a million times better!
Not as described
Bought the Oahu Revealed book, which was great and totally worth it. The book then recommended this app for a modest fee ($11.99 per month is not modest in my book) to get up to date conditions at these tourist areas. I have not seen a single current condition or a place to navigate to in order to see such information. I will be asking for my money back.
Preferable to the Alternatives
Having the travel guide in the same app as the driving guide is fantastic, sometimes the driving narration cuts out but this is a common experience with this type of application. Having a local’s take on the surroundings is great.
I paid for monthly but still can’t access
I can’t seem to find a way to contact the company. I have paid for a monthly subscription but can’t access content behind the firewall. I have signed out of the app and signed back in. Please advise
