Works Great with Garmin
Very consistant way to see your power, very repoducible and perfect for indoor and outdoor workouts.
Won’t sync with Apple Watch
Won’t sync with Apple Watch and lost all workout history. Customer service pretty slow.
Almost
This could be the best fitness app for those looking to improve their fitness levels and performance. They need to get like Garmin and Strava and allow photos for social interaction and media sharing
Clunky
I love having workout data for trail running and wanted to have some information on form to help prevent injury. I was excited to see this app combined with their pods. I bought two pods so I could get better data on my form. However, the app is really clunky. It takes a minimum of 4 menus/icons to just start a workout and it often doesn’t work as expected. It is so inconsistent, I don’t trust the data I get. Great concept, poor execution.
Please add HR to app!
I often use the treadmill to reduce impact. It is useful to set an incline to keep power up but impact low for intervals. As of now, there is no way to connect HR. I have tried using the Stryd Connect IQ app on my watch and the power numbers that come into Training Peaks are all over the place. (The Stryd powercenter shows them just fine, but TP struggles. This throws off calculations for TP and WO5.) If Styrd could simply add the ability to connect to a BTE HR strap all the issues would go away. I would simply record workouts on my phone using the app, adjust the incline as needed, see accurate power numbers as I am running, and save it for TP to digest. How hard is it to add???? While I am at it, it would be great to select a workout on my calendar and when I go to start the workout, choose to perform on the treadmill. As of now, you cannot open it as an indoor run, and thus, have no access to the incline settings. You basically do an outdoor run on your treadmill and get a crazy gps file. As of now I have use my watch to run the workout structure and record HR. In addition, I use the Stryd iPhone app to record an indoor run and manually mark laps as I go, based off of the laps coming from my watch. I can change inclines to hit desired power numbers. After the fact I have to use GoToes to combine the Garmin and Stryd files so that I can upload to TP. Annoying. All of this goes away with the addition of HR in the app....
Great Update!
Thanks for the update on the HealthKit VO, GCT, etc Please add Cadence too! Thanks and keep it up!
Don’t update
Update deleted all of my data. I have Garmin data that’s my primary source, unacceptable to lose data after an update and have to sign back in and setup as if it was new.
Good.
This is a good app, but it could be amazing with a few seemingly small improvements. Stryd support says, from the phone app, I can change the incline by swiping up from the bottom of the screen during a workout. When I do this, though, I do not see any incline control within the phone app. If I want to change incline, I have only been able to do it from the watch. I would like this functionality within the phone app so I can use the phone as my complete treadmill dashboard. It would also be great to have HR on the phone app, not only the watch. Thanks!
No sync anymore
Since latest App update my Stryd will not sync. Stuck at connecting with Stryd…
Updating my review
Finally got it working (the instructions and set up are very convoluted and frustrating) and now I’m getting great data from it. The monthly cost is really high, IMO. And I would love to see the option to change your week structure. Many apps operate Sunday - Saturday and I’d love the ability to choose what day I want my week to start.
Great product
If you really care about smoothing out wind altitude hills and HR which can spike w stress or even coffee this is your tool. If met the founder at the Boston Marathon expo and I’ve used it ever since. I recently upgraded to Generation 2 Dual pods.
Nem sempre funciona
Varias medições com erro, resultado bem obvio. Realmente nao vi vantagem nenhuma
Side button doesn’t pause only lap
On the Apple Watch Ultra you can change the side button settings to lap/pause. It doesn’t seem to pause when selected. The same for the setting in the Stryd watch app for the side button as well. Neither will pause! Please fix.
No longer syncing
Stryd no longer syncs. Just hangs on the screen saying syncing. Newest iOS, latest Stryd app. Rebooted phone, cycled Bluetooth off and on. Stryd is on charger. Run data came through to iSmoothRun just fine.
Tons of potential
I like the idea of what they’re going for here. Unfortunately, there are some tweaks that until implemented will continue to limit their reach. I use a TrueForm Runner for 99% of my training, so a permanent incline adjust option for treadmill runs would be very helpful since a 4% (actually 4.5%, but decimals not available) incline is required to accurately reflect my CP. Additionally, I need real time power/activity data to be able to be casted to a device other than the Apple Watch alone (iPad/iphone/smart TV). By holding up my watch to verify where I am in my CP band — the activity pauses. It’s just very cumbersome to get the most out of this great technology. Finally, I’ve seen a member of their leadership team frequently personally reply to consumers/customers and often come across as condescending or defensive which I can appreciate they’ve put their blood, sweat, and tears into this phenomenal product — but I think they’d be well served to understand their customers WANT to see them succeed, and their feedback is simply a collaborative effort to see them continue to grow as a tech leader in this space. Stryd all the way, don’t let another software company come in and take your market because we neglect the app UI/UE.
A running coach on my shoe
With Stryd, I understand my body and physical mechanics better, it makes me know reasonable goals I can achieve, so that I can accumulate enough fatigue but avoid over training. Besides, the Stryd community is a helpful group, with runners and coaches brimming with knowledge and experience, and you’re always welcome to ask questions and share your thoughts and opinions.
Good luck when your pod stops working! Be ready to fork out another $200!
Honestly, does anyone design tech that lasts more than 5-6 years anymore? Planned obsolescence? I remember when I was one of the first to buy a Stryd pod and I asked, “will we need a subscription to use this in the future?” and I was assured that the answer was “No.” Fast forward 2-3 years and, voila, subscription required for premium features. I’d be fine with this if the device was cheaper but honestly, my Garmin watch and HRM-Pro log running power just fine. What’s the point of Stryd now that Corros and Garmin support running power natively?
Good analysis if you pay
Stryd is good but would be better metrics available if you pay for the subscription, so thanks to adidas AdiClub for sending the dual pods for me since I am a daily runner. I hope Stryd sees this review and sponsors me asap
The promise is exciting but it hasn’t delivered for me
I have upgraded to a Duo a few weeks ago. Sadly, it has gone worse than before: Stryd is consistently reporting slower paces (which really bruises my ego) and I haven’t been able to get any analysis insights. Nothing. For a $400+ investment, it is seriously underwhelming.
“You have moved from the training phase to the training phase”
… que?!
Just starting and loving it.
The training plans and accuracy of data makes me excited about training.
Worthless
Great idea. Love the device but it’s worthless without paying for the monthly coaching subscription.
Lost Apple Watch support
Updated 12/11/23 Connection is fine now. The issues seem to be resolved. After the lasted support, I can no longer connect with my Apple Watch. Neither can I reconnect. It’s really frustrating when you wake up early, set up ready then found this app doesn’t work. Need to fix
Can not pair duo
Only can pair one Stryd nextgen once. No any add paring option or bottom to add another one. Please fix it. Otherwise I wasted much money to buy 2 stryd.
Stryd should be able to be more robust
App gets stuck all the time Lacks versatility in training plan management I really want my power data but for now have to rely on workout outdoors which does not get stuck with my Apple Watch when my AirPods connect to the watch or the phone. Stryd blames it on Apple but how come another app can do it? Also the fact that one cannot schedule a training plan that starts in the past is mind blowing! And that there is no way to move or delete portions of a training plan in bulk.
First timer
Great accessory to add to your training. Added almost a year ago and I have been able to fine tune my training to where I have pr’d at 10k and 10 mile distance. Really helps to keep you on track.
Does not recognize device
I signed out, signed in, unpaired Stryd device, tried to pair. App does not recognize the device. For no apparent reason it will suddenly recognize. Then not when I am going for a run. Bluetooth is on, orange light blinking. Nothing. Not worth the cost for the device or subscription. To improve: create a on/off button on the device.
Would be 5 stars if…
Action button on Apple Watch Ultra should be used by the app to mark laps
Accuracy ???
I am not an expert runner but I am getting better and better . I am learning about Stryd slowly but surly I have two pairs of shoes on the run report one as 720 and 1261 km . I have run an average of 30 to 40 km a week, I have received Stryd at the end of November or at the beginning of the of December I am not sure . So now I am questioning the other information in the app ??? One other things I’d like to see in app run report , more options in primary surfaces like ( city streets, parkways, icy ect) and the possibility to be able to combine these primary surface’s exemple ( road and snow , icy streets) yes i leave in 🇨🇦 ❄️lol .
Apple Watch Crashes Constantly
I’ve had Stryd for a few years. I use it about 4-5 times per week. The app on the Apple Watch Ultra is frustrating to say the least. If you pause the run, say you’re doing a run / row then it will typically crash out and you lose the data. Especially if you try to use another app to record the row portion. For just runs, the app doesn’t allow you to trim the run down, and isn’t smart enough to pause automatically. In the winter I do a lot of running on a treadmill. Turns out when I finish sprints I can’t really hit stop, it takes a minute or two. Then the mile times are longer because of the walking. If I stop running and forget to hit stop, I’ll get a ridiculous mile times. The worst part is after the run is completed it will not upload. I have to close the app, re open it. The second time you open it the app always freezes and then finally crashes. Reopen the app one more time, then it will finally upload the run. It’s been this way for a year or more. Fix the app, fix the simple auto pause or trim run, that will lead to 5 star reviews.
Changed the way I run
I don’t know what I would do without it tbh I only know how to run with power now
Downgrade
Latest version a huge downgrade with the summary screen now fixed on the present 7 day window. Miss the functionality where one could flip the perspective all the way back to a 365 day window.
Keeps improving!
It’s great to see the app getting allot of love from the developers. The interface looks really good and the app easy to use. Please could you add more power centre charts and insights to the mobile app. Otherwise great job team!
Does not support Bluetooth heart rate
The iphone app does not allow linking to a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. This is a significant weaknesses in functionality, rendering the Stryd device near useless for runners who have a Bluetooth heart rate monitor rather than a smart watch (of which not all will pair with the app either). If this is fixed the device will become massively more useful but not worth it at the moment!
Apple Watch bug
Still doesn’t sync well after a run, I have to crash the app then restart the app on the watch to prompt an upload. Otherwise good.
Next Level Feedback
Far better than standard running pods and helped me improve my form, speed and avoid injuries.
No longer sync
Has problems syncing to Garmin calendar. First it sent duplicates. Now it is sending nothing at all.
Always changing, every better
This app, when linked to a Stryd and an Apple Watch provides unparalleled metrics for the avid runner. I can not recommend the ecosystem enough, it makes sharing to Strava seamless for the social aspect, and their open APIs allow third party analysis for detailed data from your runs. The iOS App is intuitive, as is the Apple Watch App. The app has long since proven stable for running and racing with just an Apple Watch and a foot pod. With Music control on Apple Watch, and 4G support, your run is synced and posted to Stryd and Strava before you even finish your cool down. This is total future feels. The new Beta workout features some work needs to be done but they admit it’s still in beta. Making interval training easier and with audio feedback when you need to pick up the pace your previously laps of the track can now be out in the real world. I’d rather be running down a country lane instead of 100 meter forward, 100 meter turn, 100 meter forward, 100 meter turn… repeat repeat repeat. Great work, keep it up. The beta components and changes in the app need more testing before making their way to the iOS and Apple Watch apps. That’s my only criticism. A full crash mid beta workout run because my watch hit an auto pause due to traffic should have shown up in their tests.
New version of app - still crashing - still hi jacking audio
New version with critical power is nice update Still records only about 80% of my runs - so 1/5 times it crashes part way through Still turns audio of on any app (audible, music, Spotify etc) when it gets to 1km markers (with audio notifications turned off it still silences other apps so every 4-5 minutes have to run with one arm and cycle through apps! So annoying considering stopping using stryd
Bugs
Quite a few bugs with this version. Workout focus doesn’t stop after a run. Only way to get the app to close is forcing it. Sometimes no back button in settings to name a few.
Excellent running app
Only thing I wish was easier: navigating plans and workouts. If I start setting up a Stryd plan, I seem to have to force quit the app if I decide I don’t want the one I’m looking at.
Broken Apple Watch
Apple Watch app and complications no longer show RSB.
Love the new storylines, but
Excellent new storylines video gen feature, but for longer runs it doesn’t work as the run goes so fast that it’s off the screen! If you correct this it can replace relive, which would be brilliant.
A hardware not a software company
Love the Stryd product, but the app is not their strong suit. Can’t seem to link to any other my other accounts as the screen goes white and stalls, so looks like I’ll rely on TrainingPeaks for my insights.
Buggy app. How about a “resume” button?
The app on Apple Watch 5 keeps going to “finish” while in use. There should be a “resume” button immediately below the finish button so we can resume. This keeps happening. Really can’t justify the subscription price.
Stryd
Amazing tool for running athletes and coach you can improve more ease and less problems for injury
Broken
No longer pairs with Apple Watch. So disappointing. No customer support.
Getting better
The latest app is very good, especially the graph section, which allows you to drill down onto specific points on the graph on touch. However the app still does not show all the metrics of the desktop version and misses some nice touches such as being able to overlay and compare against other metrics and being able to extend the display in landscape orientation. In comparison the recent update of the Garmin Connect app has upped the game and now incorporates all of the Stryd metrics as well as the touches mentioned above.
Crashes
App shuts down when I try to open last run to analyse on mobile
Easy to lose the pod.
If you love throwing $250 in the trash on a frequent basis, then this device is for you. This thing fell off my shoe WALKING. The bracket stayed, pod gone. Find my Device didn’t help. My 1st Gen Stryd never came off. 2nd Gen fell off easily. Stryd needs to come up with a better fastening mechanism.
