Not getting texted cods
So I’m having an issue with actually starting to walk with someone. And in order to do that is put in my number and then get offed a code that’s texted to me. Though unfortunately I haven’t been receiving that’s code messages at all. It’s frustrating.
Trouble with controls
For some reason it’s the hardest thing to press the smallest X button to get rid of notifications… It’s super annoying when I can’t delete it and instead forced to tap on it and be sent to the browser. Please fix this for better quality
Good practice ^^
I remember when I first used this app in 2022 on a member’s account. I was struggling with depression and my life back then was.. rough, to say the least. I can’t remember vividly the experiences I had with a few of the listeners but- I’m sure I wasn’t satisfied. It’s not that the listeners *don’t* listen, of course they do! They are perfect in all aspects. However, what I wanted was therapeutic advice- not someone who would validate my feelings. And, unluckily for the old me, this app had exactly that. Now, I use 7cups as a listener after finally healing from everything I went through in the past. And truthfully? Having someone to listen to you is much better than just having someone who tells you what to do. You should always be capable of thinking for yourself rather than relying on someone else to think for you! I thoroughly enjoy this app and I have been a listener since March 26th, 2026, the very same day that I quit all social media and video games to pursue my goal- which is to help others find their own path in life. This app is a great practice for anyone who wants to go into a mental health field (personally, I’m interested in psychology) and a great practice for those who want to enhance their listening skills. As a Buddhist, this app helps me understand others better and put everything I’ve learned from constantly reading, meditating, and praying.. into practice. I truly do enjoy this app and it’s been a wonderful experience. I only hope this experience can continue, and I hope that I, and all listeners on this app will be able to help everyone find the right path for themselves. Thank you, 7cups! <3
Worthless
Wanted to try. Every password I made up came back as “came up in stolen data base”. I was making up the most off the wall passwords and still didn’t work. Don’t waste your time. They don’t care about you.

Please read! Beware!
I was promised services with a licensed therapist. My understanding was that after I messaged them, I would receive a response no later than 24 hours later. They would ask questions, we would work to create goals & a treatment plan. I think I wrote 3 heart wrenching messages before I got one cut and paste message with one question added on to the end. That was fine I wrote back to that message, answered the question & didn’t hear anything again for another 5 days or so. I thought maybe I didn’t understand so I started reaching out to 7cups by phone & email. I recorded & took screen shots of every attempt I made, asking if I don’t understand the process, asking for a new therapist, asking for a refund. It just felt like further rejection which was the one thing I just couldn’t handle. The “therapist” finally reached back out explaining that she was traveling on vacation, then got locked out of the system, all like that should be perfectly understandable & acceptable to me. Then she asked the again asked the one question I had already answered. To a person already in mental & emotional agony, this is about the least professional thing I’ve ever seen. I actually have a degree in psychology. I’ve been on the other side of this & now all I have is my voice & trembling fingers to warn anyone that may be in my position to stay away from this place that is actively taking advantage of weak & hurting people. It’s saving grace are the kind & caring listeners that actually talk to you. Now I’m doing all I can just to try to get my money back because there’s such a gray area with paying for services, they’re not even worried about it. Amazon pay didn’t do much & my bank is trying but who knows. Please be careful!!

Can’t log in
I keep trying to make an account and it won’t let me. It either says my password was in a leak, my passwords don’t match. When they do, or that my email is invalid despite me typing it correctly. Please fix your app as I cannot access it.
love the concept but..
i love the concept of the app, but i wish it was a bit smoother to use, it lags a lot for me. and i wish it was easier to switch between a listener account and member account in the app, also it should be easier to see the ratings and reviews of my own account on the app. make it a little more user friendly please
Buggy Application, Read BBB Business Complaints & Reviews
Platform: 7 Cups is best used on desktop (Windows, MacOS) or at least mobile browsers available for smartphones. [Have tested with iPhone 14 and desktop.] Function: Application’s forum and chat room text box splits into a column-like break when italicizing or holding text. Overall the app doesn’t walk you through its functionality, it instead pushes down the option for paid therapy, while forgetting its own new users have no clue of what 7 Cups even is. [Please read BBB reviews & complaints on 7 Cups for the bigger picture!] Safety: I’m uncomfortable saying that this app being suitable for children. There’s too much exposure of inappropriate user-content with little moderation of chat rooms. There seems to be conflict with 7 Cups staff, which would explain imbalance of structure. [Site ranges from all political and religious backgrounds; has seemingly caused rift and hostility.] Disclaimer: It also seems 7 Cups goes by a general rule of no-banning, but instead to house people acting trollish and walking them to kindness. I personally like this, but I understand this isn’t for everyone. You will meet very, very contrasting personalities in these spaces.
The new sign up flow created issues
I tried signing up with my email account, and it asks me for a phone number, which when I provide it says “one phone number per member account”. I can’t solve this issue, could you please find a work around for this?

Can’t Cancel Membership
I tried to cancel my membership last month, and the cancelation pages were not working in the website or the app. I emailed customer service request to cancel my membership. A month later, the cancelation pages are STILL not working on either place, and I was just charged another $159. Customer service will ignore you and their cancelation page is always broken. This company is trying to steal money from people who need help. Shame on you 7 Cups.

Seriously. I’ve never deleted anything so fast. Unless someone is a genuinely trained counsellor then they shouldn’t be giving advice or talking to anyone with a mental health issue.
Good concept, not so great in practice
I downloaded this app when I was going through a particularly tough time and had no idea what to do. I matched with a person and was relieved to be able to get my thoughts out to someone who could offer support and/or advice, but they bombarded me with personal, and quite frankly, inappropriate questions. I answered only what I deemed necessary, which seemed to be fine. When it got the the point of them giving advice, all I got back was a barrage of insults, which not only was upsetting, but their nature was embarrassing and personal, especially relating to mental and physical health issues I have suffered with my whole life. Determined not to escalate things, I simply asked if they were okay, which then turned into a rant about their personal life. Whilst I understand they needed someone to talk to, I wasn't in the headspace to be able to do that and I felt uncomfortable. I ended the chat and looked for a report feature, either to stop other people being insulted and humiliated like I had, or to raise a flag about concerns regarding their mental health, but this feature did not exist. I believe this would greatly improve the quality and control of advice, if a brief screening beforehand is not possible.

Wont allow me to sign up with a gmail I’ve had for 19 years. It’s “not valid”. What is this trash? They can’t get their sign up process to work but we’re supposed to tell them our personal issues? Lol.

Some loose ends
They need to work on the constant disconnection that happens with the app. For me the app is constantly loosing its internet connection even tho my wifi works fine. Also they need to make it so you can favourite or add people especially if you’ve come across someone that really works for you. And they need to make it so you can delete messages, not just blocking a connection.

A viable alternative to online therapy
A lot of people who are struggling and need help can’t afford therapy, and don’t want to use a crisis line. 7cups is a great alternative. There are a lot of listeners so spend some time to browse through them and fine one (or more!) that work for you. It’s also very rewarding to become a listener and support others 😇

Good Concept…Sometimes Poor Execution
Many times listeners just stop responding. Also nobody on there is a licensed therapist so if you’re looking for that it’s better to go to a clinic. The quality of the listeners often are be slow and unhelpful.

App with an identity crisis
Presents itself as a support app, yet puts that support so far out of reach that it defeats the purpose, forcing you to “walk a path” of disconnected, anecdotes, quotes and videos before allowing you to have permission to reply to threads. (Sure, it’s triage, we get that, but….) Then as you move forward on it’s path, it congratulates you and gives you badges and basically ranks you as a user. I did 37 levels. How does getting a ranking on an app provide support for a real-life situation? Today, I got approved for the chat sharing, which is like a 1990’s chat room with cliques of people, no coherency in the postings, just a free for all after 5 minutes of trying to follow, it was like juggling. This app is confusing to use, difficult to integrate. I am by no means a newbie in terms of technology, yet this app had me feeling I wasn’t making the grade. Yes, some cool concepts that I never reached (ranking) like being a good “listener” and yes, meaningful in its core values - I think. But closing a “support” app feeling flustered kind of defeats the purpose imo I see it has a good membership, so some people find what they need.
App is crashing!
It’s been more than a week now and I am not able to use the app. I have reinstalled it 3-4 times still not working, it say- ‘’we are currently experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.’’ Please resolve this issue.

I would say it is not that bad of an app, and helps you get a lot of things off your chest when you have no one to talk to.

Used to be great but now every time I try to speak to a listener they are other rude incompetent or it says that it’s connecting me with a listener but it never does I’m beyond annoyed this app used to be good, DO NOT INSTALL !

Do Better
I sent a ticket requesting to resolve one phone-multiple account issue about a month ago and they never got back. It is preventing me from chatting with active listeners which used to help a lot.
Review for 7cups app
It’s a very good app .
Only
The app is great for doing growth paths and one-on-ones with Volunteer Listeners and Therapist. The group chat community isn’t all that great. Some of the people in the groups have already friends. I would caution people on sharing in the sharing circle. As I said, a lot of these people are already close friends so it’s a hit and miss to find group support in these groups when they’re having conversations over you while you’re sharing rough days or your stories. Either than that, I’d say stick to the one-on-ones with Listeners and Therapist, you feel more heard.
Needs fixing
Mostly the app is great! It’s supportive and kind and well put together, but when talking to someone and going off the chat for a second, I’m unable to go back onto the chat and finish the convo. This has left me with many people waiting for a response I cannot give as I am unable to get onto the chat.

Banned for no reason
I got banned for no reason and we I contacted support they didn’t help at all
Informative
As a new listener, It’s an informative site to help other members in need. Though I wish the app would provide more informative content of mental disorders or syndromes.
Not safe
Talking to strangers about your feelings sounds good on paper, but it isn’t very well regulated at all. Listeners are just random people. Mine started asking if I was in a relationship after I talked about losing my father, so if you’re looking to be harassed in the middle of a mental breakdown, this might be the app for you.
The therapists don’t act like therapists.
The therapists are real but I don’t know what I’m paying $150 a month for. Mine won’t explain my feelings in psychological terms like my real therapist. She sends short messages. It’s been weeks and we’re still “getting to know each other” it seems. She’s given me no exercises. No thought-provoking advice. Nothing. The free listeners provide the exact same experience.
