Long time user
I really love Swarm and have been using it with friends since the early days! It’s such a fun way to catalog places I’ve been and to be able to go back when I’m like…where did we go that one time? I do miss new stickers and travel challenges, wish that would make a comeback!

Fb integration gone
The entire reason I had this app was due to its fb integration which is gone now.. along with the original Foursquare guide.. such a shame this company and product was ground breaking then went nowhere
Help desk is not helpful
If I inadvertently check in someplace, I can delete some, but not all. I reached out to the helpdesk and they gave me some canned response that was not helpful! App overall is fine for remembering when I was someplace last.
Do NOT come here to celebrate GCSE results!
Not on their website but apparently they have a 18 or over alcohol policy. A favourite country pub but disappointing we can’t raise a glass with our son to celebrate this milestone when its UK law allows.

Travel Memories Forever 🫶🏼
Best memories app ever! Love seeing all the places I’ve been in the world on their list and map. Such an amazing recollection of places to share with others who are vacationing to places I’ve been. Literally feel like a travel agent because I’m able to show exactly where we went and even have pictures attached from our own experiences. Had it for almost 10 years back in college! Super helpful and love it so much!

Not Easier. Not Faster.
Why go to the trouble of designing the app “from the ground up” only to make it worse AND not add the dark mode it has needed THIS ENTIRE TIME? UPDATE: Yeah, sorry, this is an uninstall from me, dawg. I have a superior version on an older phone I haven’t gotten rid of, so I guess I’ll keep using that sometimes, I guess. At least orange was vaguely bee-themed. But yeah, the ONLY improvement the new version of Swarm enjoys over the one that has existed for almost (over?) a decade is the reintroduction of OG Foursquare features—which, of course, should never have been spun off into a separate app to begin with. Otherwise the whole thing is just a worse experience. It often freezes or doesn’t load, and if it does, the “Change Location” menu mistakes scrolls for taps about 55% of the time. As an OG Foursquare die-hard, this is unbelievably heartbreaking, and I didn’t need one more fresh, new reminder that everything is awful now and there is no refuge from it anywhere. UPDATE, JULY 21, 2026. Got a new phone and copied the whole phone over that had the last version that was almost usable. Damn app replaced itself with whatever this insane new version is. So there’s finally dark mode… in 2026… and the app is technically responsive, which is an improvement over the previously most recent version i suffered… but the interface is bad. The map is finally usable but i’m not sure why i would need that. If there’s a list of venues, i can’t find it. Just do it right. OG, pre-Swarm Foursquare. Call it whatever dumb thing you want. Just make it responsive, with light text on a dark background. Make it user-friendly, with a list of nearby venues and portraits of each venue’s mayor so i’m not clicking and scrolling for twenty minutes just to see what needs a mayor. Please. My old phone won’t last much longer.
Check ins (Mayorships) not counting
Holding a mayorship for years and check in every day. It says I’m still the mayor but it will not hold the consecutive days I HAVE checked in. It might only give me credit in a Monday. One day in 7, telling me I am the mayor with 5 or 7 or 10 check-ins but it should be 30.

Last update is a mess
I’ve been using Swarm for 14 to 15 years. The last update doesn’t allow you to delete a check-in, add a photo after a check-in unless it’s embedded in a comment. They changed all of the feature features to dumb and now it is much worse. I’m very disappointed with this last update. Hope they fix it.
Cheesy Baja Wrap
The wrap was hard to eat! The tiny piece of chicken was over cooked and hard. I had to take it out of the wrap and sawed into pieces with a steak knife. The rest of our order was good!

No Timeline Map
This app used to be great when you could see all of your places in a world map! Now you can’t see that anymore. So, what’s the point? I want to look in a specific area to see where I have been, but now you can’t see a map! There is only a list. I will look for other apps that show a map for my timeline.
Old school foursquare was so awesome.
I remember the days when being mayor actually meant something. Discounts, free WiFi, perks. Now this app is a shadow of its former self. #sad
Favorite App
I’ve been using Swarm for 15 years (before it split off from FourSquare). Being able to look back at where I’ve been is invaluable. I love the simplicity of the app (it’s not trying to do too much), and I love the visualization when zoom out and look at the map. I use it as a reference to give advice on restaurants, bars, etc. I never leave app reviews, but this one is a special one. And I love that it still ties in with FourSquare to give recommendations.

Make it good again
I have used foursquare since its humble beginnings on early iOS. It used to be fun, inquisitive and exciting. I’d love to see it revert to how it used to be. All I can say for it now is DULL, respectfully of course.

Bring the MAP back
The only reason I used swarm was to have a map with places I visited across the globe. Not having it makes checking in in Swarm effectively useless, as it no longer offers any perks for doing so.

I’ve been using this app since it first came out as FourSquare. I love it, but taking the option of tagging it to social media, especially FB, is pretty annoying and dumb. Please return that option asap! Thank you!

Latest update is a significant downgrade
Used to love the app, its search feature is now near useless. Due to the fact that a lot of places in the same location often have similar names, limiting the search to the top 15-20 items with a partial name match makes it pretty impossible to use. The new version does not give the same feedback that a check-in has been performed correctly (rather than the app just hanging). The use of better live location maps is clearly an improvement though
Old map was better zoomed out
Really loved the delight on the pull to refresh on Home. Bring back that bee. Great execution though on the redesign. I know accessibility is a thing but World map view needs improvements! I’d loved zooming out to see all places dotted about, this version has labels everywhere - sigh Maybe user colour theming like Timepage? I’d like some more yellow reintroduced. I think most people that have Swarm have had it many years like myself so glad to see some change and look forward to seeing how it evolves!

Swarm Grows Up
I’ve always used Swarm to check-in and see where I’ve been around the country and world. The new design looks far more modern. Initially I found it hard to even find how to checkin but once you’ve got used to the new layout it’s as easy as ever. What I did like was the map overview showing a clear checking across the world. The map overview now just doesn’t do it justice, no map key and it’s a shame. That and probably the lack of social side (I don’t know people that even use it) stops a five star rating.
A big downgrade from the previous version
Contrary to their latest email, this latest redesign makes checkins take LONGER (they've added a step), and the app is far less visually appealing than it was. I may well stop using it. They patted themselves on the back way too soon. I suggest doing some user research.
Broken
A great app that I’ve been using since 2010. However the latest incarnation in mid 2025 is a stinker. The most obvious thing is that it’s been uglified from its previous bright, cheerful appearance. It looks dreadful. What’s with all the black? Dig deeper and functionally has been removed. There’s no way to browse my history like there used to be. It was previously possible to see exactly where I’d been and how many times I’d been there. I could be wrong - perhaps it’s still there but I certainly can’t find it, which is just as bad. Behind the scenes there’s still no way to export my history in a meaningful format. And there’s still no iPad version. This is a stinker. It’s very sad. I loved the original Foursquare. This is just getting worse with every so called update.
