Bait and switch. Not free but advertised free
Absolutely terrible, zero stars. I consumed my data roaming to download their app after seeing their claim free.
Love it!
My wife and I have now done close to a dozen audio tours on VoiceMap and love it. We pretty much now always look to see if a tour is available in whatever location we are visiting. Most of ours have been in Europe, but we have also done one in Quebec city and two in Bangkok. Would highly recommend. I removed one star only because it seems like a lot of the tours we have done are no longer available like they used to be.
Beware: Badly broken
Update: developer contacted me claiming battery drain is an iOS 26 issue. Odd that no other app I use performs like VoiceMap, so this seems like an excuse to me. The playback stopping/tour quitting was not mentioned in the dev’s reply. Used VoiceMap on two trips to Italy more than a year ago and it was great. But on a recent (26-07) trip the app performed terribly. Audio kept stopping during the tour, on my iPhone 17 Pro. Happened at least 5x in about an hour. About half the time the app had quit/crashed. And the app drained the battery on 2 17-series iPhones absurdly fast! Lost about 75% in just 2 hrs.
What the heck does a Tour Pass mean?!
I've listened to a couple of these so far and they were both great. So I considered buying a 7-day Tour Pass. Except there's absolutely no way to figure out the value or return on a pass before buying it because all they tell you is you get a discount! Ok... Is it a 5% discount? 50% discount? Does my $25 investment pay for itself after one tour? After ten tours? Who knows? Buy the pass first! Then we'll let you know. WTF Mind boggling. And no help in the HELP section on this.
Excellent
This was fantastic. We got to enjoy a marvelous tour from the comfort of our own vehicle. The tour was informative and paced wonderfully. We highly recommend!!!
Extremely disappointed
Downloaded San Gimignano Guide. Started in front of the church as required, and was never able to make it work from there. Directions sent me down wrong streets, I was never able to pick it up correctly, and a very annoying voice kept telling me “some people get lost in life.” I’m off to Siena tomorrow and will be downloading a different guide.
Great way to explore urban areas
We’ve done a few voicemap tours, including in locations where we thought we would just take a quick stop, and then were very engaged by a tour. If we tried to navigate on our own, we would definitely have gone in circles. So great to walk and listen and not try to navigate a paper guidebook. Also love going at your own pace and pausing if something catches your eye.
Super buggy and steals your money
The app is a great idea and the content is generally great. However the app itself is very buggy. Changing the speed of the narration creates overlapping audio, and it’s nearly impossible to allow a child to purchase a tour through a request to a parent because the download flow is interrupted. My kids ended up charging me multiple times for the same download and Apple refused to refund at least one of those multiple downloads. These are really awful bugs and you ended up converting someone who was enthusiastic to someone pretty upset by the overall experience. Whether this is ultimately Apple’s fault or VoiceMap’s fault I don’t know, but the experience was decidedly negative.

Brilliant!
VoiceMap is absolutely brilliant! The information provided was top notch quality - fascinating and historically accurate, bringing the city (Frankfurt) into new focus. I loved the way that the app tracked where I was so that the narrative would restart when I reached each next spot along the route. The map itself was very helpful for keeping me on track. Seriously, I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Non functional
App buttons don’t do anything, can’t download any tours, and even the previews will freeze after playing for 5 seconds. Don’t waste your time or money
Bring noise cancelling headphones
Strongly recommend use noise cancelling headphones as lots of city noises drowns out the softly spoken tour guide meaning missed chunks of the tour. Last 20 mins is a long walk along the river with few highlights. Almost gave up

Advertised as lots of free tours. But all of what I saw are paid.

Tour was informative, a bit dull. Was $42 rather than $12.99 advertised in app.
Love this app
We love using this app because it takes us places we’ve not experienced and allows us to explore at our own pace. We can see the sights, listen to our guide, and stop for coffee or something stronger along the way. Then, we pick up where we left off, and we’re on our way. The navigation is easy, and we’ve really enjoyed the guides/narrators.

Excellent way to see things you wouldn’t normally notice
Compact and excellent way to go and see the highlights of a place. Easy walking. Great tech’ to get you about. Wished there was more
Tours are limited
Selective this app for a tour of Chester in the UK. Whilst the app is of good quality the available tours of Chester were disappointing. The best it could offer was a tour of ‘spooky’ locations around the city. This was not what I wanted but since there were no alternatives I reluctantly chose it. Disappointing; lets down what is otherwise a good app. Two stars.

San Francisco Tour
This was my first VoiceMap tour and I think I’m hooked! It’s like listening to a podcast but learning about the things around you at the same time! I especially loved all the history and little anecdotal stories that were tucked inside. One bit of warning — wear comfy shoes because there is a lot of hilly terrain. But it was absolutely, totally worth it.
Terrible app and no refund
Very bad no extensive guide and you can’t get a refund Update: In response to your respond be aware there is no refund. The developer said contact Apple and Apple said it’s not eligible for refund

Great app, however the gps was slightly out as the information was delivered before the point on the map
Disappointed
I tried using this app for a 2 hour walking tour of downtown Detroit. I was very disappointed with it. Admittedly downtown Detroit roads are confusing with sometimes 5-6 spurs coming off one intersection. That’s why the tour guide needs to take great are to describe directions to the next point of interest. The tour never referred to N,S,E,W and didn’t always indicate where to depart for the next POI. Also it would be helpful to indicate what is the next POI you are looking for. The app did not keep up with our GPS location and we often were “lost” and having to retrace our steps to try a different route. Many of the buildings are tall skyscrapers so it is not helpful to have you be at the base of the building when describing the architecture which you can’t possibly see. We often had to keep crossing multi lane roads back & forth to get a view of the building which resulted in a much longer tour than the 2 hours. We finally gave up 2/3 of the way thru the tour. Much room for improvement!
Quality issues?
After about 10 to 15 attempts I finally was able to purchase my tour for my school assessment. Seems like the purchasing through family sharing needs more testing or alternatively a voucher system, as you likely to miss the chance to enjoy the Voice Maps for a location you arrived to. Also noticed other bugs while swiping between comments, about, on tour etc. with the screen not showing up and app seems very slow. Looking forward to using it tomorrow. Hope it holds up.

Bought two Stockholm tours
We completed two Stockholm tours. The Landmarks and Legends tour had a fantastic and informative narrator. The Gamla Stan tour had one out of date mention (violin store no longer there) and the narration wasn’t as engaging.
Map draait niet met je mee
Map draait niet met je mee als je loopt waardoor minder goed de route gevolgd kon worden en regelmatig verkeerd werd gelopen. De spraak gaf vaak ook te laat of niet aan waar we heen moesten.
Great Idea .... still needs improvement from mainly tours perspective
We have taken 2 tours around Lisboa which have been a good experience to start with ... guidance and app worked well ... from the tour content perspective as feedback for authors we would expect little more details on where we are and what potentially can be seen... as we passed a couple of figures along the way w/o any note or comments.... Again great app but personally tour content needs improvement David
Very Close to In-Person Experience
I purchased my first two walking tours for German cities by Jo Eckert. I highly recommend them and the integration of GPS tracking, the in-app map and the narrator’s comments were almost as good as having a “live guide”.
Absolute WASTE of MONEY
bought 3 of these to tour Carcassonne wasted hours trying to get to work- worked partially then would not work any more- play button would not work- I want my money back-maybe the bug fix 2 days ago is the problem???
An excellent concept well implemented
I used this for a single city tour ( of Cambridge ) and after a slight bit of “friction” not finding my “code” (it arrived later) and signing up, it all worked well. I would recommend it and use it again for tours in other cities. Cost effective. Well written and planned tour. Worked well. Enjoyable. Factually accurate. Go at your own pace.

Amazing Tours of Your Favorite Places
This app is awesome. You can use it to walk-cycle-drive some of the best self-guided tours in the world. It always works great. We love it!
12 seconds of audio
No doubt the content of the tour we downloaded would be good, however it didn’t play for me in Milan. Gives 12 seconds of audio before cutting out. No troubleshooting or help available on the app.
Good Tour App
I enjoyed the tour especially because u can start and stop at ur own pace, it’s easy to use and informative. I also like that u can revisit it anytime. The only criticism is the time estimate. I did the Tarragona, ES tour (75 mins) and u would literally have to speed walk this tour to complete it in that time. Add on stops along the way for more touring, rest and/or drinks and u can easily double that time. I’m a senior and got too tired and ended early. I caught the last few stops virtually and glad I did-didn’t miss much. I’d recommend this tour. Much better to have ur own tour guide and at ur own pace. It was fun to walk by large tour groups with a real guide.
Incredible
Everything about this tour of Mantua was superb! I only wish I had discovered this author (Mike Corradi) earlier in our trip so we could have enjoyed his tours of other towns in Italy. Highly recommend.
Latest update
I am not able to load the city of my voice after the latest update. Before the update I was able to see all tours offered in Paris and after the update nothing loads when I choose Paris. Please can you fix
Great info, convenient format.
This is the second Voice Tour we did, they were both great although this one in Montmartre was harder to follow as the gps struggled among the tall buildings, so the blue dot denoting our location jumped around. The other technical issue is my husband shared his link so we should now get a free one on his account seeings as I used his link to buy this one and we have not received it. That being said, we loved the information, stories and history and preferred being able to pause it if we wanted drinks, photos or bathroom stops, rather than have a live guide. Excellent concept.
Travel at your own pace
In this audio tour of Tallin, we loved the continuous thread of a people striving for independence. And we truly enjoyed Heidi’s narration and great research. Thoroughly enjoyable!!
No redeeming qualities
My husband was excited about getting one of these tours for Ronda, Spain. It was not user friendly at all. Instead of helping you to actually use the app or download the promotional tour we were constantly being asked to pay for the tour we were entitled to. The tour of Ronda consisted of random boring historical details. We will definitely not be downloading any further tours.
