Great idea, terrible implementation
Never works in the first try. Last update increased battery usage to ~20%.
HID
Works well most of the time but would appreciate the ability to name our favorite readers. We have two readers near each other and it’s hard to engage with the preferred reader in the app. Often end up unlocking the wrong door.
Absolute basic functionality
Often need to refresh app to find gates. Bluetooth doesn’t work with car window closed even close to scanner. Should have integration with wallet like other key apps so it pops up automatically when within reach of sensor. Apparently only uses Bluetooth and not cell network.
No need for always on location
Should be no need for the app to always have location services on.

Always mode never works properly
For some time now, always mode on the app fails and you not only need to open the app, you need to set it to unlocked or foreground, close it, reopen it and then set it back to always for it to start working again.. they need to fix what is going on here
Not User Friendly
It works, inconsistently. If the phone is *unlocked* with the app open, it generally works 90% of the time. If the phone is *locked*, it either takes a while or doesn’t work at all about 90% of the time. My usage is for my residential building, elevators and exterior access inside the garage. Whether it has a good internet signal or not seems to affect performance. The Apple Watch app is pointless, it only works when the iPhone is nearby. I’m sure it’s for security but why have a Watch app if it can’t work on its own?

Doesn’t Work As Stated
I have my location services always on but even still, I have to take my phone out and open the app which is very inconvenient. If I try just holding my phone close without opening the app, it opens Apple Wallet. There is no way to add the ID pass to Apple Wallet.
New Update Drains Battery
The update launched 6/29/26 is causing the app to use 24% of my battery. Please investigate and fix this issue.
Works sometimes
It’s always an adventure when trying to use this app. Sometimes it works as it’s supposed to and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled number of times. Sometimes turning off Bluetooth and turning it back on works, but not always. Great idea, marginal execution.
It is difficult to run
I does not always open the door I have to stop open the app then the door opens I would like to be able to add the card to my Apple wallet but the app does not have that option. It should.

Great app there’s room for improvement
It’s pretty responsive. I wish it was working when the mobile was off as well.
Could be better
The app works somewhat, but the “shake your phone to activate” is frustratingly poor UI. Just give me a button in the app, don’t make me shake my phone.

It’s very inconsistent with how it works. I ensure the app is force closed at the end of each shift. So I open a new instance every morning. Worked great when I first got it setup but this week has been having issues every day. I can open the first door, but not the 2nd. Force closing the app and relaunching usually works but now it’s not and I have to restart my phone every time it doesn’t want to work
Only works with the app open
Used to work without me having to open the app. Recently since the last update I assume, I have to open the app for it to work. I hope this gets fixed asap.
Remove requirement to Always access location
The app does its work, but its a privacy risk as it only works when its given permission to always have your location data, not limited to while its being used. Which should be the correct way as this app is only needed twice a day when coming and leaving from office. Why does it need all day location data? Its either the dev team is lethargic or the management just wants your personal data.
Most of the time it works
Most of time the scanner works but some times it don’t pick up when I’m close to the gate even though Bluetooth is on. Also it buzzes off every time I pass a scanner within the gym area or just any scanner I would like if I had more control like I do when near a gate.
Access
Love the app, the only problem is that when it grants access, it continues to grant access as I’m in an elevator.
Inconvenient
I agree with other reviewers. Switched from android to iPhone and now it wants to do Apple Pay every time I use it. With android I did not have to open the app but with iPhone the app has to be open. Just not convenient. This needs to be fixed and I can certainly revise my review then.

Randomly the NFC activation brings up Apple Wallet instead of using HID to open the door. It then doesn’t open the door and need to start the whole process again

Slow to detect and give access
Simple to use but one issue…
Requires location services set to always to be able to use without the app opened. I have tried every possible combination of settings, but always/always is the only way to get it to work. So it’s an inconvenience to have to unlock the phone and then open the app.
Widget not working
All is good except when I create the widget it doesnt work by tapping once. You must press and hold and then once you get a remove or move the widget message then you can go back then it works by tapping on it once.
It’s OK, but should really support the Wallet
This app is mostly okay, a bit of a hacky implementation using BT instead of a proper card scanner. It would be miles better if it allowed you to add a card to the wallet and use that instead, but I’m not sure if that would work with existing readers.

Doesn’t work so well

I have been using this for a few weeks now. It does work on IOS but is slow to open doors compared to existing proximity cards. Possibly due to Apple Pay always opening first. Would help massively if you added an email address for app support as I’ve been getting an error message: “Failed to update mobile ID - the secure element is currently busy”. Help?
No location access while just using
Will drain battery because you can’t keep location sharing to just while using. If you turn off location sharing then turn it back on, you’ll have to reset your card with your building.

Your latest update has removed the widget!
Slowed down after update
I have just updated the HID app and it’s now taking a lot longer to open the app and passes compared to the previous version.
Get anything else
This is the worst app. Constantly having to log out, log back in, delete app and re-download and re-login, and then it only lasts for a month or 2 until you have to do it all over again. You can literally get anything else that works better than this.

Location access
Can you stop demanding location access even when the app works fine without it?
Delayed.
When I’m at the door with the app ready, it will not activate the key card or open the door. I click one or hold the key card and does nothing at all, so I keep refreshing the app. It can take a long time for me to get to work because of this problem. Any Advice?
Great app!
Works even when the phone’s screen is locked. In some rare occasion when app does not work when the phone is locked, open the app and it started to work again seamlessly in the background.

Great to be able to tap into my office but seems to only work when the app is open since the 8th July release.
App need option to resend code without Admin
Come on. This is so admin intensive. Once an email address is assigned to a person, then the person should be able to request a new access code to there email. Simply like resetting your password to an online signin. Our mobile number and email are registered to an account, so why make it so heavy that we need to seek administration to reset it manually. It’s not hard to make this Much better. They have the concept of using the mobile right, but the way it’s being done could be done much better. On the app, there should be a new code request button. Look forward to this being implemented soon ! Also should be updated so pass is stored in phone wallet, much like a visa and other passes. Not needing the app to be open to open a door every time. HID - let’s make this better.
