So so banking app with performative bankers
As a homeless person, opening a new bank account was beset with difficulties. The tellers at WECU literally sneered at me and turned up their noses, but the banker who opened my accounts was very helpful… right up until the credit union had my money. I’ve had cause to reach out twice with questions since then, and WECU hasn’t condescended to even acknowledge receipt, much less provide clarity or answers. It’s nice to have a local bank in case I need to visit a branch (upon which I will be sneered at by the same credit union that advertises its community support of the homeless), but in reality WECU is really no different than any corporate bank in how it treats customers. The app is ok, but certainly nothing special. “Early pay” is a joke as WECU holds your funds for almost a full business day to guarantee your money works for them before allowing you to access it. Their points system is next to worthless, relying mostly on increased debt to WECU to offer rewards. But the type of accounts they offer do provide better returns than most banks provide. This isn’t your mom’s credit union. Community service is largely performative. If you have accounts with any bank that has local branches, there is no compelling reason to choose WECU. I’m happy enough as a customer as ALL banks treat poor people like dirt, but I expected more from WECU based on their own PR.

I really love WECUs digital banking. I’d go as far to say the app works better then the web sight. My only issue (that effects me quite regularly as someone who needs to keep track of every transaction for business reasons) is that you can’t see what account transfers are going to, even if they are internal accounts or accounts with nicknames. Even if I make a transfer to a friend, and look back immediately, it doesn’t say the name that’s saved to the account, just a collection of numbers and Xs which makes managing it a lot more confusing. I get pretty good at memos but if I accidentally transfer to the wrong account, it’s kinda a mess.
mobile deposit glitch
This app is great except for when it comes to mobile deposits — it often crashes during a mobile deposit. I’ve had it happen on multiple occasions, the app will crash which then logs you out. After logging back in and attempting the deposit again the same thing will happen. The only work around I’ve found is trying again another day. When it works it works but when it doesn’t, it really doesn’t.

Hard to use
Why do I have to keep accepting terms and conditions over and over to use the same function? Its 2025 and it takes almost a week to move funds to a different account when they finally show in the different account.

I don’t wanna bold new offers tab. I want my financial institution to be just that and nothing else I want to make a change to my accounts, I will go in and talk to one of the branch employees. I want my banking app to be simple and straightforward. And I want you to stop changing it so that I have to spend hours hunting down the buttons that I always use. Please stop adding to the distractions.

Have to use this app to deposit my check Live out of state . Requires ios 15 or later my older phone wont run that, doesnt have an older version that folks can use. My iphone 6s works well and its paid off . So thanks for yet another forced update! I guess its time to update ...to a better bank. Wecu if u read these comments , Ur a great bank but this app is the weak point.it really pains me to move along.
Frustrating deposits…
The app is definitely handy when I want to view my balances or do a quick transfer- however, the mobile deposit is awful. I swear, every check that I try to deposit gets a 2 day hold out on it. In this recession where most folks are living paycheck to paycheck, it’s a really bad design flaw.

After updating to iOS 16, I can’t seem to get the picture centered and at the correct angle to do a mobile deposit. FYI.

I have been with Wecu for numerous of years this credit union is the best. When they introduced the app it has made banking, and banking online a lot easier. The app is easy to use.
Old app was way better!!
I miss the old app way more! Sure it was VERY outdated looking (think early ‘90s). HOWEVER, since the redesign this app has been nothing but a headache. It’s awful to deal with. And what’s the point of allowing us to write descriptions for our transfers, if we then can never access the information later? I can’t tell you how many times I have been reviewing my transactions and thought something was fraudulent, only to find out it was an internal transfer that I had included information on, but it’s no where to be found. Slow app as well. Its impossible to get to the other menus besides the Home Screen, unless you don’t mind waiting a year and a half.

Need to verify. Send text to phone app times out after 3 seconds then receive a text. Verify by phone call app times out after 3 seconds then I get the call…

I like it when the app actually works. I can’t take it when it tells me I need to call customer service because of an app error. I’m not one to pout but I am considering going to elsewhere because of this petty issue. I need this to work now, not later
