2.0
OutRead 2.0, phenomenal. I love the daily exercises. Right now I’m just doing the daily exercises. When I reach day 30 I’m going to test my reading comprehension. When I tested it was only 171wpm comprehension 84%. I know it’s slow, but I focused more on comprehension than speed. Speed without comprehension is not impressive. I’m on day 25, so in a few more days I’ll update my review with the results. I have seen in improvement outside the app. For instance when I receive a 6 digit OTP(one time password.) I see it once and I have it. No more repeating it in my mind or looking at it more than once. Update: Start 171 wpm 84% comprehension After only doing the daily exercises everyday for the last 30 days. 224wpm 100% comprehension. I’d say that’s a huge improvement.
Costs money
Yes there are in app purchases and you cant upload your own books without paying
Feedback
As a user of this app I enjoy it but dont call it free if you need a prescription for 98% if anything on here don't download it unless you plan on subscribing
"Flash" not RSVP
The app itself is ok, but the main reason I wanted it was to be able to do RSVP reading. This is one word at a time. I don't like that this has "chunks" I don't want multiple words flashing up. I also don't understand why this is a monthly sub so that I can add my own books. A one time purchase to unlock this is fine and I may have learned to live with chunks, but I'm not paying monthly for it.
Please fix these
This app is great and I figured out that I can actually read at a pace of 416 words per minute however there are a few things I would like you to fix about it. First, please add more interesting books I can almost never find anything interesting and second, please make it so that the non-pros don’t only get one book at least add a few more. If these get fixed I would rate it a 5 star however for now I will rate it a 3 star for these reasons
I Love the Recent New Updates
I really love the recent new updates with daily guided training and the increased variety of exercises, in addition to the original speed reading test and book reading. I love that by using the guided daily training, I am able to practice speed reading on a more systematic, regular schedule, and I would know when is the good time to move on to the next level (before the updates I didn’t really know when to level up). With the new updates, I was motivated more to practice everyday. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Used to be free- now subscription based
This app used to be free now they want money for the most basic functions. 1 star for the greedy developers
Almost perfect if you will add some more features
It should have highlighting, underlining and saving quotes feature like other simple reader apps. I would be great being able to highlight and save quotes and paragraphs or to add comments.
Downloading ebooks is difficult
Not useful if you wanted to import books from Apple Books.
exciting
the app is a useful tool, the range of speed and opportunities to incorporate increased reading speeds can be improved- the current greatest words per minute is roughly 1,500 words per minute the Outread speed reading training app could easily increase this to 15,000 words per minute or greater
Im reading more
I cannot read the news on my phone. Too many distractions, the constant scrolling, the pop up ads. Its too much for me. To the point that I subscibe to the physical paper for my news. Ive been aware of speed reading for a while, but this app has taken what was once a chore (copy and pasting whole articles from tempermental sites into a reader can be extremely finicky) and reduced it to a few clicks. Ive subscribed to NYT and WSJ in the week since Ive started using it and I am reading much more that I was before.
Save your money!! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL USER EXPERIENCE since latest update (version 2.4)
I used to love the free version of this app (so much so that I paid the annual subscription fee and have used it to speed read absolutely everything including purchased e-books that I had converted to PDF). However, since they updated to version 2.4 it’s been awful. It appears it was more important for them to introduce a ‘text to speech’ function than it was to maintain the existing functionality. I have tried using this app on iPhone 16 pro and the latest iPad and whilst I am in a document it is impossible to stop the screen motion regardless of where I tap on the screen. Previous versions were smooth in the transition. If I wanted to change the speed of the app, I would simply tap on the screen to stop and then go into the settings and adjust. That is now impossible without tapping the screen at different positions over and over until it finally stops. Now because they have introduced an ‘AI text to speak’ player, as I say it is now impossible to try and leave that function. Save your money!! ABSOLUTELY AWFUL pab1250
Needs a Vision Pro Version
It’s a great app, I love it compared to others. Especially, for the import of PDFs and long articles on web pages. I agree with previous review an Apple Vision Pro version or at least Apple Vision Pro compatible to allow for a more isolated environment allowing for a larger screen size and less distractions would be ideal and allow more focus.
Price
Lower price for permanent outread to 49.99. 119 is too ridiculous for very little service
Great app, but limited books
It is a great app. It really helps you focus and enjoy reading. The drawback is it’s very difficulty import any books that are not already within the library which is very limited. I’ve tried to import books from Apple and Amazon. I’ve spoken with tech support and it is very difficult to import an outside book. I wish I had a larger selection of books and I wish it was more compatible with books that were not already in the app.
Much improved
I’ve had Outread for a while. They used to be just OK, but have filled out the features to be really ideal.
Don’t believe them about the pdfs
Tired to import a pdf and it doesn’t work, just freezes on the loading page forever
Good app, but ..
It’s a good app, with nice features. It could be better if there were more options to change some of the default setting. The shulte table has really small numbers and they should either be larger or have an option to increase them and also to change them to letters for instance.
Reading Safari does not work
Bookmarklet created by app is a java script that iOS does not permit.
It’s okay, not what I was expecting
Please add Bionic Reading 🙏
Genious way to increase speed
This app is improving on and on. Each update gets better and better. This is the best app for speed reading, period.
Pay for importing pdf? No!!
Moneygrab! Write on main page that app is useless without purchase, so no time waste. Thanks
Vision Pro Version Needed
Great app and it's helped me tremendously after a traumatic brain injury "reset" my reading skills. However being able to read books and articles in an isolated environment like Vision Pro would be priceless. To the developer please consider making this app compatible. It would truly be helpful for people with difficulties reading.
missing sync function
I hope with the next update a synchronisation between iPhone and iPad will come.
Meh
Doesn’t let you read very many books without paying.
Amazing!
Use it for several months! Love it!

Misses one key technique
Could have given 5 star but it misses the way I like to read.I can read faster when some letters are highlighted in the word, but sadly there is nothing like that.😕Sad because I love to read but my adhd is a hassle.Hope my comment will help them make this app better
Unable to link to Pocket
Just purchased the lifetime license, but getting an error when attempting to link to Pocket. Getting authentication error -1005. Rebooting the device doesn’t help. Tried many times.
Reading With Superpowers
Like probably many others, I discovered Outread after the viral video about speed reading in this format. After a few days of testing on the free plan, I went ahead and purchased a lifetime license. This is a game changer! I can read PDFs, GPT chats, the Bible, etc. I’m currently reading around 320 WPM, but I can feel my ability to focus growing like a muscle. The developers are actively improving the application, very happy with recent updates.
Message to developer
App needs to be improved, we need to be able to scroll up if the words went too fast in the highlight section without having to start the article from start every time you miss reading something. Currently it is very inconvenient having to start from top every time
It’s great!!
I think Outread is excellent for learning how to speed read. I did find that it only really has the classics, so if you’re interested in newer books Outread may not be for you. But overall the system is very easy to use and very effective!
Simple idea, big impact
I can sustain focus and continue to be engaged while reading long articles or books, effortlessly!
Does not work!
Very limited to what you can do!
Hello there, you
I love this app, but its only issue is that not many readings are available unless you pay for the app… which I won’t.
Developer is a chad
Idk if he even saw my first email but i asked for some form of bookmarking and not a month or two later did he add that feature. Then i noticed a bug and he promptly fixed it in two days. What a 10x chad im a convert for life.
Missing features
At the price point I expect to see a lot not features. For example there's no way to see graphs or images. I need a second book app for that.
Would love to see a few improvements!
I seriously LOVE this app— especially the feature that highlights groups of words to help with focusing, which is honestly a game-changer; I struggle with ADHD and I can’t even start to tell you how helpful it is to my work!!! Meanwhile, I do see a few things that I think can benefit from some improvements to really meet a larger variety of readers’ needs: 1. I’d really appreciate it if Outread had a “highlight/mark” feature like Kindle or Apple Book does— by which I don’t mean your “highlighting the font” feature (as I said, LOOOVED it!!!), but one that allows the reader to color-mark words/sections and perhaps to add notes to those highlighted/marked parts. It’s just quite frustrating for me to not being able to make notes/marks on my texts as I read them… 2. I also REALLY enjoy the exercises/trainings!!!! However, I do wish there were more levels to be challenging… For example, the highest level of the eidetic memory training exercise (the second exercise; where you remember how many letters appear each time) is only 13 (I think?); I was actually quite surprised (and disappointed) when I found that there’s no higher level!!! I mean! There’re 26 letters in the English language so you guys don’t really have to stop at D??… And then I had to look for other apps with similar trainings and have more apps to pay for even though I really just needed one!… I guess my point is, you can throw more different letters there and definitely more than 7 letters each time; some of us really enjoy it when things are more challenging!! :) Above all, thank you guys for Outread— it’s a game changer and worths every cents!
Super Satisfied
I really enjoy this app, and plan on using it much more in the future.
useless
u have to pay to open anything
If it is possible to scan photos from the album
it will be better
