They actually care

I had a miscarriage while using the app to track the pregnancy (any my cycles previously). One of the hardest things was to log the end of the pregnancy with all of my apps like Oura ring, pregnancy tracker apps etc. Natural Cycles has sent countless messages validating the grieving process and hormonal changes, sending articles to read and mental health check ins. You can tell this app was designed by women. They’ve been more helpful and caring than my OB. I am grateful this app not only practices the medical side of women’s needs but also the emotional. Worth every penny.

What's the point?

I got a free 28 day trial, so I decided to try it. However, I can't even add any data because I'm in "demo mode" so it shows me fake data. What's the point in the free trial if I can't even use it? Also I want to stay on my hormonal birth control, since it's more effective than the app, I just wanted to use the app to track my periods but I can't even add the days I have my periods. It's pretty frustrating and I don't even see the point in having it.

Downhill the past year-about to discontinue use after 5 years

UPDATE: The app now relies heavily on ovulation tests to “predict” ovulation. Logging ovulation tests changes green and red days. This is extremely problematic and adds another opportunity for user error for an app that is supposed to be relying on an algorithm based on basal body temperature. Your customer support is non responsive and your development team obviously does NOT take these reviews or submitted suggestions for improvements into consideration despite your copy and paste replies or else we would have seen the changes we’ve asked for by now. The company does not value women’s health- only their bottom line. $159 a year for what? Profits over people. Also, stop shoving AI down our throats. Previous review: Please update to be able to clearly see cycle day when clicking on future dates on the calendar like we used to see. The 2 stars is because recent updates to the app have made it LESS user friendly. More buttons to do the same thing we used to do with fewer buttons. Also the yearly subscription price is astronomical- I have been using this app for almost 5 years and it’s just getting out of control with the pricing. I’ve not seen added value. Being able to tap to focus during the ovulation test reader would be a long awaited and much needed improvement.

More to come

Only reason for the 4 star is I’m still unlocking the benefits of Natural Cycles and my Oura ring. So far I have loved that NC encourages me to check in daily and takes into consideration the average woman during their cycle; but combines average with my own unique normalcy. Looking forward to seeing results months down the road.

Incorrect ovulation calculations

My husband and I have been TTC and I will say that at first I was fully trusting the app and the algorithm. As time went on, it seemed to drastically change the date. I started testing for LH on day 6 of my cycle through day 15 to find the peak and the app consistently has ovulation days behind the LH testing. The wrist temp is can be altered if you wake up before your normal time, and it’s now excluding data on its own accord and not allowing me to override it.

Not Enough Info Up Front

I bought this app, thinking I had a compatible garmin device to use with it. By the time I figured out only certain models work and mine isn’t one, I had already paid for the monthly subscription. I’m not going to spend $200+ on a new device on top of the price of the app. It’s just not worth it, I’m not that far into trying/tracking yet. It’s upsetting that I didn’t even use the app at all, and I got charged the full fee—imagine if I had gone ahead and paid for the year up front!! Feels gross to me.

App doesn’t update when you switch modes. For example- I wanted to switch from birth control to follow pregnancy in the settings. Hard for shift workers

As a shift worker I work nights. The wrist band doesn’t work as I don’t sleep for four hours in the time slot needed for a reading. The thermometer only works on the 14 days I’m not on nights in a four week period, otherwise the temperature doesn’t count as it’s “different sleep”. And I can’t afford an Oura ring at the moment. The one month I had holiday I will say it worked wonderfully, and I’m going to save for a ring, but it should be much clearer from the outset that shift workers may need the more expensive measuring tool for it to be of any use collecting temp data etc. Currently feels like a waste of money and isn’t really getting used as there is no pattern able to be detected at the moment

Confusing but helpful

Why are period days green and everything else various shades of red???? Literally the opposite of everything that occurs with a period. I find that incredibly confusing. The compilation and data summaries are superior to Flo though, and integration with garmin is efficient. The temperature chart should also have a feature where you can see more data for a given day if you tap and hold. I can never figure out what date the cycle day corresponds to. V confusing as well. Also entering historical periods should add data to support the algorithm. My data said not usable which is quite silly. Data is data whether entered retrospectively or in real time. Same complaint goes with BBT. That should be able to be entered retrospectively. Wow I guess I have more complaints than positives. Oh I do like the option to add moods and symptoms, and that it comes into the summary/trends. Should be able to change the emoji though.

Red days all month except

I like not having to be on BC, and I love all of the education in the app, but I’ve been using NC now for going on 6 months and I’m annoyed that this has basically become “no sex all month except for a day or two before your period and a day or two after your period.” Quite literally. I’m tracking every day, and even taking ovulation tests and putting the ovulation test into the app. The app will say I have green days (for example) two days from now but then will push them back over and over again. This has been a fine BC method for now but we are looking into a vasectomy because this really isn’t sustainable to have sex once or at most twice a month.

Scam

I downloaded this so I could track my temp throughout the day so I can track my fertility but you need to buy a subscription just to use the damn app, there’s other apps out there that could do the same thing but free! This app is a money hungry scam demanding money off of women wanting to know more about their bodies. Edit cause I’m mad about this: So first of all you want to protect our data but put a price tag on it? You should want to protect it without us paying. Also when did I mention birth control, cause I didn’t, I wanted to be able to track my temperature with my Apple Watch throughout the day so I can track my cycle more accurately. I can understand having a subscription to obtain more information and have other stuff in the app like Flo and other period tracker apps do but having a free to download app but I have to pay in the app to even use it seems scummy. The developer that responded to me really didn’t respond to my review and seemed to just copy and paste a response in just to make me “happy” which pisses me off more. If you’re constantly getting negative reviews for the same thing, it really tells you something that the developers should fix. Respectfully do better.

Great concept but the price is getting out of hand

I signed up to Natural Cycles about 4.5 years ago when it was £34.99 a year. Back then I thought it was brilliant — simple, reliable, and it actually helped me conceive my daughter in the very first month of trying. For that, I’ll always be grateful. However, the price has since shot up to around £90 a year, and I honestly can’t see why. The core concept is still great, but the app itself doesn’t feel massively improved. In fact, one of the biggest changes for me is that it now constantly logs me out saying my session has expired, which is pretty frustrating. I’m not saying Natural Cycles is a bad product — it’s not. It still does what it needs to do. But it used to be so affordable, and now the subscription has more than doubled since I first signed up. I’m really not sure I’ll renew again next year, especially if the price continues to rise. Like so many things, once it becomes popular, the price seems to inflate massively, which is such a shame. Great product, but the cost just isn’t justified by the app changes over the years.

Great app - plan pregnancy could be better

This app has helped me learn a lot about myself and my cycle, I absolutely love tracking and all of the relevant articles it offers. The only thing I would really suggest is a better support for women who are planning pregnancy. I am on my 7th month of trying, and as many know, the TTC journey is really emotionally and mentally challenging to say the least. Every month I just get my regular message “your period is here, it was probably not what you were hoping for”). Any suggestions or more articles that can help provide some comfort or steps forward would be really useful , or just opening up the conversation about mental health around TTC. There was also a recent article about a TTC success story of a “Natural Cycles Cycler” and of course, she got pregnant in the first cycle promoting the app. It makes me feel more defeated when I seek information about what to do to improve my chances (and not the typical eat healthy, track your ovulation, exercise, etc, because I do all of those things). What should I start thinking about if there is a real problem with mine or my partners fertility?
