Yet another game with no landscape mode

I was playing this game on my iPhone and found the games nicely presented and a good variety and then i went to carry on playing on my iPad for the bigger screen …and surprise surprise, no landscape mode. Seriously in this day and age, and with simple graphics such as these, its not hard to do, just lazy.

Provide colorblind mode option

Games are fun, but those that require yellow/green differentiation are really hard for the colorblind. The iOS color filters change settings for ALL apps, vs just the game and make all the colors way off. Please implement high contrast color options from within the game itself.

Bad for colorblind folks

I love the games, but the developers did not consider folks like me that are colorblind. Games such as hashtag and password are horrible to see. The settings menu tells me to adjust contrast…it doesn’t help. Very disappointed developers can’t get this right. Hope they change something soon to make this more enjoyable.

Okay

It entertains enough for me to not have deleted it. Whoever writes the content needs to be sent back to school. As I believe whoever writes the questions struggles with nuance and basic comprehension it seems. It’s good that it’s free, as I wouldn’t pay for this. Could be better if they sacked mediocre developers .

Ok. Room to improve

Room to improve: — allow swipe typing for any games where it applies (i.e. secret word) — lose one of the crossword games. Preferably mini. — drop this new “consensus” nonsense — more contrast on Cryptogram on dark mode. Tough to see where spaces are Update: developer responded to turn on high contrast in settings. First of all, no. This screws up the appearance of everything else. And it doesn’t even fix the problem in the app. Maybe fix your app before suggesting global settings. 🙄

Garbage AI Slop

Second game I played, category is “tools”. After a couple of guesses, I enter “miter”. It replaces it with “meter”. Several guesses later, I give up. Correct answer was “miter saw”. WTF. Wholly uncurated AI slop app. Puzzles generated by computers are garbage. If you like word puzzles, avoid this.

Nice collection, needs landscape

Some fun little word games here. Well put together collection. Really needs landscape support for ipad. I want to play, but for some reason it's portrait only. This is a huge problem for tablet users and is why it gets the low rating. The UI needs some other improvements, too. Some easy way to play previous days. It's tedious having to go back to the game selection to switch days instead of being able to do it when I finish a game.

Won’t open

I love the free version of this game and was beyond excited to learn there is an Apple Arcade version with no ads. I have tried downloading the game multiple times and have tried to restart it multiple times, but I never get past the black screen with fanatee displayed on it. I think if this problem can be resolved it will be my favorite app.

Generally good puzzles

I generally enjoy the puzzles, but recently have been frustrated by the game taking ages to load different puzzles and losing connection. I do agree too much is Americanised, as noted by others. I have also found that although I am signed in to Arcade, the progress does not save properly across devices, so I have different progress on my pad and phone which is frustrating too.

I enjoy this

I do not enjoy the recent update. Consensus isn’t really a puzzle it’s a guess. Because who smells ‘wet grass’ and thinks of home. Or thinks Bananas aren’t common to put in juices when strawberry banana juices are extremely popular. Plus there isn’t the option to add your own answer to it, so it doesn’t make sense that it’s ‘from our community’ or ‘chosen by other players’

Clearly AI generated as answers often don’t make sense

For the Secret Word game, the category was Pizza Toppings. The answer? Eggplant. I know people put a lot of weird things on pizza, but in a word game, eggplant isn’t even on the list of words I would have guessed. If it was a trivia game and the question was about unusual pizza toppings that are popular in some specific country, maybe eggplant would make sense. Deleting.

I’ll stick with the paid version!

I started playing Everyday Puzzles a few months ago and enjoyed it so much that I paid to get the adverts removed. Within a week of doing that the Arcade version was announced. “Typical!” I thought. But the Arcade version is almost unplayable if you aren’t American or prepared to Google everything. Despite having the country set to United Kingdom, there are loads of questions where the answers are spelt incorrectly or refer to shows or sports only played over there. The original version is great, this version is awful.

Weird scoring system

I love these daily puzzles, very fun game! But, the scoring system is weird and makes no sense. You can use assistance or not, finish in 5 hours or 5 seconds, and get the same exact score. Seems like an easy fix because it makes the weekly challenge something to totally ignore. I really don’t get the point of it.

★★☆☆☆ United States · v1.0.6 · 11 Sept 2026

Bad AI Puzzles

AI is very clearly being used to write the word puzzles and crosswords. Using AI to help code an app is one thing. Using it to write the clues/answers for word puzzles is another thing entirely. A recent mini crossword clue was “Nick, football player known as The Long Sleep.” Because who doesn’t know the NFL player from 1922 who doesn’t even have an official position listed in their Wikipedia article, right? These are clearly AI because no human would make such an obscure reference. The devs are also using an AI to auto-respond to negative reviews here. Lazy game devs who clearly don’t care about writing word puzzles themselves or paying a game designer to do so. Disappointing.

Using the app is sluggish and laggy. Especially scrolling through the list or games or looking through missions feels like the game is running at 5 fps. Nice daily puzzle fix, I hope it improves.

I like the format, the variety of puzzle types and the progression system. The game has frozen more than once, but thankfully only between loading screens and I’ve never lost any progress. Yet. I echo the frustrations with US centric culture questions, some of which I can take an educated guess, others I’m not sure I even understand the question. Please, please, please give us a landscape format option 🙏 I do most of my casual gaming on an iPad and there’s nothing worse than vertical format only. Update: after playing for a couple of weeks I am officially fed up of 3-letter country codes, currency codes and the initials of random D-listers in the crosswords. It’s lazy and crass. My time here is over. Response: Initials etc? Just look at Sept 5th hard crossword, there are 7 or 8 of them, including the first clue. When a ‘hard’ crossword clue asks for the initials of General Practitioner or the internet abbreviation for ‘no problem’, I’m afraid I’m out and that’s after re-downloading the game which I did to see if I had exaggerated the issue. It seems not.

★★★☆☆ United States · v1.0.6 · 15 Sept 2026

It’s fine, a mixed bag of quality

It’s a mostly fine distraction for puzzle and word game aficionados. The biggest “problem” is probably the scoring/leaderboards: they need penalties for using hints (I use them and would be fine with this) otherwise just drop the leaderboards feature altogether because there’s no point. Certain games, like Sudoku, are hard to mess up, while others are just kind of… wonky, like Secret Word which will aggressively autocorrect your guess into a completely different word. As an avid crossword enthusiast, the mini and regular crosswords fall somewhere in the middle—you can tell they’re not the work of a skilled constructor.

Nagware

Sometimes I just want to play the game. To have to click through endless, relentless popups about streaks and powerups and rewards just to get to the game is enough to make me delete the app and seek something that isn't obviously derived from micro transaction-riddled nagware.

No UK puzzles & poor Pencil support

While I enjoy the app itself, I do not enjoy that so many of the puzzles for UK users are the US version. I downloaded and checked the “free” ad-supported version of this game and it has UK versions for the puzzles. With almost entirely the same puzzles included in this version of the game, I don’t understand why UK users are seeing the US puzzles - surely the arcade version is supposed the be the better version of the app, and certainly not significantly worse? Is this going to be fixed, the replies to other reviews are very non-committal on this topic? I do prefer the + version when it comes to the UI though. I have also had problems trying to use the app with the Apple Pencil - the buttons respond to the pencil but the puzzles themselves do not, which makes it unusable to play with using the pencil. I use my pencil to help with a health issue when operating my iPad so this is an accessibility issue. I did try emailing support but got no reply.

Typically US-centric

As with so many apps like this, the content presents a huge barrier to most of the world as it is heavily biased to US-based content that, despite what they might think, nobody else really cares about. Shame that it purports to have localisation as that just makes it worse.
