Great App but a question
Trying to retrofit a 5e subclass to 5.5 and not sure how. Anyone have advice for this?
App no longer works
Worked great for months but today it suddenly crashed and now refuses to open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the offload option and restarting my phone in between but nothing seems to get the app working again. I’m hoping this gets fixed as I have been pretty happy with the app prior to today. -update: still not working. Dev reached out asking if latest update fixed this issue and it has not. It does manage to load the first screen but immediately crashes before any options can be selected.
Decent!
A WONDERFUL App With Numerous Quality Of Life Features From The Previous App Missing. When Looking For Class Feature Descriptions There's Not Really Anything To Be Seen, Only Checkboxes Without The Explanations Of What They Are That And The Inability To Change The Maximum HP Can Be Very Annoying To Fidget With Or Keep Track Of Certain Changes Within A Campaign Other Than That Its A PHENOMENAL App And I Promote It To Everyone I Teach How To Play
No longer allows level up via watching ads.
App has been great until whatever is happening with the ad controlled content. Before I watched ads to get custom content and level up characters without paying the premium. Now that option isn’t working so I have to rebuild my character completely to level up.
Great app, premium is too expensive
150$ or 30 a year for premium on a mobile app is very unreasonable, especially considering that the old app was far cheaper. I would’ve stayed there, but it hasn’t been updated in a long time, and is now unusable. What is offered for premium is extremely minuscule relative to the price. I personally would’ve preferred to spend 10 dollars for the app upfront, and I feel that is far more fair than what is currently offered
easy to use
It has easy character creation, and it doesn’t do everything for you. It has most items, and if not, you can create your own. My own personal pet peeve. With cleric divine domain (Thaumaturge) in the feat magic initiate. It doesn’t give you an option to select spells or to keep those spells separate from your known spell less.
Poor layout
The layout is very tedious and unusable at times

Help Needed
I have been using this app for months, since last year around my birthday. But, Wednesday night I tried to update the systems and resources, but I did not have internet connection, the update failed of course. Nothing happened yet, but later while I was using the app it closed out. Since then, whenever I open the app, it crashes and closes me out. I’ve tried offloading the app and powering off my device, but none of it has worked.
More options
It’s not that bad… But if I could review the content before, I decided to make a character make things a lot easier
Best free I can find
I’ve tried dozes of character apps for dnd. To be honest this is hands down the best I’ve been able to find. Has just about everything in it no restrictions and iv make lots of characters with easy. The library to find info on things is easy to use as well and is quite helpful for figuring out characters items monsters and classes and how they work.
app crashes and refused to reopen
i made a character for a campaign and part way thru the session the app decided to crash and never open again and if i delete the app i lose my character do not ever use this app to save important character information much less anything related to the campaign you are playing
Fantastic app but folders pls
This app is the objectively the single best dnd app to exist. The only thing I wish is that you could put the character sheets into folders.
Bugs
Bugs in the companion section. Makes it so you can’t delete companions, at three half the screen is greyed out and makes the companion section unusable
Not as good as the previous one.
It’s pretty good, but definitely not as good as the appp the devs abandoned. The fact that all monsters have awful AI generated images for profiles is unsettling and annoying. Please update previous app to have files fixed. I don’t want to have wasted my money on the ad-free version just to switch over to this one and lose my character sheets, and I can’t open my friends android sheets on my iphone.
Better than the old app
This app has a very complete compendium and the combat system is so much easier to use and doesn’t delete your combats like the old one did and it’s less prone to crashing. All we need now is the rest of the content and the app to fully release.
Just Bad Needs Work
I was excited to make characters on this app but when I leveled up my spell slots were not updated, my class features weren’t updated after level 1 of each class, and my hp did not update correctly. This is a far cry from the performance of its predecessor the 5e companion and I’m honestly kinda confused why it wasn’t just updated to add 2024 content rather then make a clunky new app with all sorts of problems?
Good app, but could definitely use some improvements
The great thing about this app is that it has pretty much most of all the items, stab blocks, etc. But there is one thing that is quite bad, the character creator. The creator doesn’t show you some stuff, for example, when I was creating my cleric, it didn’t once showed me the divine orders, so I had to manually add the spells and manually add to arcana and religion. So, overall, it’s a great app to look up something, but not a very good app to create a character in.
Unable to level up character
Unable to level up character due to no Ad available. Even post update. Feels like being forced to pay to remove ads. Also phone runs absolutely insanely warm while using the app.
Cool app
Great app, super useful... unfortunately uses generative AI for the monster photos and endorses the use of it. This kind of AI does not belong in fantasy!!

The app is great, it feels easy to use and the homebrew creator is great. I recommend using this to my party Overall great app and I recommend it. I hope that as new content comes out like a new book or UA the dev will keep adding to the list of content.
A subscription to get rid of ads, really?
When I downloaded the app, I saw the app had ads; I understand that this is a bigger project and it needs funding in order to keep getting updates and such. I have no problems paying to get rid of ads as long as it is a one time purchase. I was impressed by the 5e companion app and it proved to be an extremely useful tool for creating character sheets quickly. The in-app purchases made sense and I did not feel like I was being nickel-and-dimed unlike so many modern apps. I am extremely disappointed that the developers have chosen to go this route.
Good App just needs improving.
Actually a pretty good app. My biggest concern however did occur with this app and I hope it gets adjusted to be able to accomplish this. I tried to make a Celestial Warlock and to my knowledge it gets access to Cure Wounds amongst other spells that Warlocks don’t commonly get. But no amount of filtering helped me select cure wounds and the other needed spells it gets up to lvl 5. And I imagine this would occur for other sorts of subclasses as well. Now, you CAN create spells but as you can imagine that’s kinda annoying and the inconvenience defeats the purpose of using a builder in the first place. But this app has a lot of potential. It does have ads but they aren’t invasive as so many other apps. Keeps it free. I look forward to this app getting updates tbh.
Definitely not iOS/macOS designed
I gave this a fair shot, seeing that it was one of the few apps out there that had the 2024 ruleset. I was hoping that it would work seeing that DDB expects you to re-buy books digitally if you bought them physically. Anyways, I digress… The only real good here is that it does have the 2024 ruleset in it, and it seems complete! The bad. It is using the Material UI and is probably a React Native or some other web-app-into-mobile architecture. Normally, I don’t have an issue with that, but when basic things (equipping armor, modifying HP or stats) are not working or hidden it ruins the whole experience. Then there was the character creation screens. I thought that the multiple screens was the correct call to make for this task, but it just looked jumbled together on my iPhone 13. Also, especially since macOS (assuming they have Apple Silicon) can run iOS/iPadOS apps now; there should be no reason why this doesn’t run on macOS. My suggestion is one of two things: either go away from whatever web-to-mobile tool you are using and pick a more modern one (and please go away from the Material UI, it reeks of Google), or use just straight Xcode, Swift, and Swift UI; your users will thank you.
Good but needs work
All my monk unarmed and weapon attacks have modifiers based on strength instead of dex, which is the new class standard as per the dnd 2024 version. I want to use the app but this makes attack rolls and damage calculations confusing. A change here would change my review and make me pick this app back up.
Love it
Great app! Simple to use. Has , literally, all the classes and spells. Adding anything new or homebrewed is super simple. Each update l, LITERALLY, improves the experience.

Loving the 5e companion has the 2024 rules attached to it. Would be happier if the app didn’t freeze because of the ads. I know asking for no ads is a losing game, so a patch to fix the freezing would be doable.
Downgrade from 5e companion app

I don’t mind ads to keep the app free. Such a well designed app so far but if I want to level up I get stuck in a loop viewing ads for 30 seconds that don’t let me skip them!
Question of edition addition
So I’m enjoying the prospect of a new app, but I see so far you only have 5e and 5.5e, will there be more, particularly 3.5e??
Good but Flawed
I really like a lot of the ease of use, but I’m not a big fan of the pay model change. I really liked the old app I could buy one purchase to get the ads gone, but now it’s a monthly subscription and if I want to do a life time one I have to fork over a decent chunk of change for compared to the old price. I know it supports the creator and all that, but I can’t even transfer my old purchase from the old app to this new one to have at least 3 months of membership? I just don’t like how a lot of this has changed, and I plan on probably just using the old app for a bit regardless because the 5.5e stuff seems like it’s a little buggy starting off, but if there’s more respect to those making purchases on the app, I’ll 100 percent hop on it again, and I’ll probably have to move over eventually, and I’ll probably just live with the ads instead with this new app
Old to new for leveling up?
So I bought the no ads on the original yet it didn’t cross over to the new one, makes me not want to actually use it now because it was a waste of money it seems. Sorry I like the app but I wish it would has transferred the ad free with it.
Fantastic for concise character info
This little app, and it's predecessor have helped me flesh out around fifty ready to play DND characters with unique backstory, character concepts, and stats. It gives you so many options at your fingertips that you're bound to click on something, then just take that idea and expand on it until a character forms before your eyes. Great use of unearthed arcana, and lesser known subclasses also helps the creative wheels start turning.
So Good but still early
I love the improvements from the old app. Having the character info on the sheet instead of the info tab was a great addition. The app also feel more well polished than before but has someway to go with fleshing out all the smaller details and quirks. Also sharing/exporting content was a nightmare in the old app I hope that gets a big upgrade. You’re on the right track I can’t wait to use this product when it all done.
Good but a few issues
I have been using 5e companion app for a whole year, it was easy to use and makes character creation a breeze. I got this app immediately when I saw it. It's all good, but it's not the same as it's older brother 5eCA. I cannot see my class abilities unless I go through a whole 5 seconds to go to the class info section and scroll to where the ability is, then go 5 seconds to find my character and continue playing. And I can't change my characters max HP like I could in 5eCA. Even changing the HP auto mod doesn't change it. Currently my barbarian has 5 HP when they are supposed to have 14.
No Sharing options
Love the new layout for everything compared to 5e companion app but there isn’t any way to transfer my characters and classes from 5e companion to rpg companion.
Excellent App
Firstly, this is the best character sheet app I’ve seen in terms of manual entry/homebrew support. I use a ton of HB at my games, so it’s awesome to be able to add classes, features, etc. Quick Suggestions/Requests: It would be awesome if Weapon Masteries were a “Select X” feature where you could pick weapons from the Weapons db to be a master of. That way the Weapon Masteries feature would list the weapons that you chose. Second, it would be awesome if you could select already existing class features when making a HB class. I can already tell I’m going to be sick of rewriting the Fighting Style, Weapon Mastery, and Extra Attack features by the time I’m done entering all my HB. Best of luck with the development! Excited to see all the upcoming features!
Very useful
I like this app because I can use it for 5eand 5.5e adventures and to look subclasses.
Great 5.5e Resource
After my initial review talking about how it didn’t make sense to spend so much money on subscriptions when all I want to do is remove ads, the Developer informed me that there is a remove ads option for only $10. That basically solved my only complaint as the app as a whole functions quite nicely, rarely encountered any issues while using. My only request that I can think of is a way to know just how many spells your character should know, as you have to google the spells known part of the character. Other than that the app is very well made and I can definitely see myself using it more and more as time goes on.
Needs updates
This app would be 5 out of 5 if it had much needed updates. Firstly, I think having to close and reopen the app to have my level and armor equip reflect, takes away from the user experience. Secondly, the AC system becomes almost unusable when you add multiple sources of AC. Example: armor, shields, ring of protection, cloak of protection, defense fighting style, etc. I’ve needed to remake characters because I can’t click out of the screen that says I have conflicting modifiers when my AC is accurate. I will not give this app below a 4 because I respect how much it does for players for so little money, unlike DND Beyond which does the opposite. However I do not think it is user friendly in its current state.
