WAY BETTER THAN YUKA
Do not get Yuka it sucks olive is way better
SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE APPSTORE FOR VIOLATING SAFETY
I’ve seen multiple products where the scoring is clearly incorrect. For example, some chip brands like Cheetos I’ve seen receive scores as high as 93 despite being loaded with additives. This app shouldn’t score additives in a way that makes them seem like minor concerns, and especially not give high ratings to items like Flamin Hot Cheetos Poffs. When I questioned the AI about these scoring errors, it told me that it would flag the item for review. However, when I asked for more information about the flagging process, the AI contradicted itself and admitted that it doesn’t actually have access to flag or report items. I understand that AI can make mistakes, but it shouldn’t claim that it performed an action when it has no ability to do so. Between the inaccurate scores and the AI giving me misleading information about reporting errors, I don’t feel like I can trust the app’s ratings.
Canadian support
It’s been a really good app so far as I’ve come from Yuka and it’s been a way more informative than Yuka. The only issue I have is the app is it only really orientated towards the USA, like I’m from Canada and I wish that there was more Canadian support. Like the map setting is really cool but it’s pretty much useless in Canada as it’s only populated for the USA, or how some foods I scan show some different ingredients in the American products versus the Canadian products, also product recommendations too as some products that are recommended are only in the states and not in Canada. It’s a really great app other than that but just hope that the devs are able to add some more Canadian support.
Stop with the ads for GLP!!!
Used to be an amazing app that gave you actual insight into products with the analysis section. They recently changed that section to always lead up to an ad for GLP-1, no matter what product you look into. They sold out and it’s extremely disappointing to see. I would far prefer other ads on the app (between searches for example) to their constantly advertising for GLP-1 on every single product. Go back to the old Olive, im sick of this dumb propaganda Update: their response just doubled down on pushing GLPs lol. You had a good thing going and youre actively ruining it congratulations i will not be renewing my subscription. Hope the GLP ad money was worth it. Lost the plot
App is good but camera doesn’t work
The meal camera works but my shelf and single item scan doesn’t
Is it Free?
Is there a free version of the app or just a 7-14 day free-trail?
JUST LET ME USE APP
I’ll keep YUKA Before you can even use the app to ask you a bunch of questions that for me were completely irrelevant and personal so I deleted it before I ever got a chance to use Like bro just let me use the App stop gate keeping to get my personal info.
The paywall is frustrating, great app nonetheless
It’s impossible to exit the paywall, you *have to* put in your card info and sign up to the free trial to continue. There’s no exit button. Other than that frustration, it’s great so far. The app doesn’t have some of the things I’ve searched up, I’m not sure if that’s because I’m in Canada. I’m curious to see which products they add overtime. I also wonder how accessible the app will be after my free trial expires. The app is worth trying nonetheless. I like the interface and organization. It’s clean and easy to navigate.
Really push their peptides on you
I wanted to love this app but every time I go to the explanation on why something scored the way it did, it’s always a sales pitch on why I should buy their GLP-1 or another peptide. I also wish there was a way to turn off the diary prompts every time I open the scanner. I don’t want to fill out those questions just for them to try to push the peptides again. Not to mention the scanner has only worked half the time in the grocery store. Hard to trust an app when it tried to sell you something at every turn
Could be better
The whole app looks like it’s run by others uses ai and if I’m honest they have a small selection of items they need to expand to new products as well as do accurate reviews of them. They mark them red and say avoid if they haven’t researched instead of saying pending or underdevelopment. They also review things differently you will have to do your own research. Personally I would want to see more clean brands that have to do with wipes, diapers, skincare, hair care, and cleaning products it’s mainly food which is understandable but it never hurts to expand their horizon. Overall wish they could fix the pictures, expand to other products and properly review products.
Tous simplement incroyable 😎!!!
Incroyable 🤩
Scammed
Edit:why would I emaiI the same exact person who’s been ignoring my emails for over a month? Already filed my claim and report. I paid for the full year and was still locked out of my features that should have unlocked. I have been emailing for a month now about refunding my account over 8 emails and still nothing. Be careful….they will not response.
New update
I want this app to scan food and not ask me how I’m feeling make it where I can turn this feature off!
If you want to waste money
Yet another subscription based “service” that you can google for free
Love this app!!
It’s help me so much!! Love this app!
Predatory gross business practices - avoid
Update: the developer response did nothing to address these concerns. They just shift the accountability to Apple to manage their subscriptions and act as if they couldn’t possibly do something else to better support customers. Why not give reminders about how much time is left to cancel right in the app? Make it easier? Because you want people to forget and have to pay you! That’s predatory and ableist, no way around it. Read the fine print!! The seven day free trial is actually only six days. You have to cancel 24 hours before it ends to avoid being charged. Not only that, but despite having lower cost monthly subscriptions available they charge you for a FULL YEAR if you don’t cancel in time. There’s no need for this, they could just have the free features stop working after seven days instead of charging people. The least they could do is be up front and clear about exactly when and how to cancel and encourage you to screen shot it before agreeing to the trial. Even after paying a high fee, they still embed GLP-1 ads for you to open throughout the app disguised as opportunities to “learn more” about a food ingredient. This app could be great if the company genuinely cared about honesty/ethics as much as $$$. I won’t be subscribing again. Not that they care, because they have built their business on scamming new people into paying instead.
Horrible
This app makes up random numbers a snickers bar got a 58/100 while pumpernickel bread got 0. When i tried cancelling the app it didnt show the proper subscription tag now im unsure how to cancel the subscription to an app that DOESNT HELP!
Jumping through stupid hoops
I just wanted to be able to scan things, but I’m already at the store. It wants me to scan 15 items from my pantry to give me an audit before I can even use the app. I’m about to tell my bank to dispute this stupid charge.
Super easy to use & has changed the way my family grocery shops
I absolutely love the Olive app. It is so simple and easy to use and I’m able to see what ingredients are actually in the food I’m buying for my kids. Cannot recommend enough.
Expensive
showed 29.99 for the yearly price yet i was charged 54.99 not even a month of having the app. so absurd.
Big lead up to a paywall
I just wanted to scan some foods Went through the setup and after about 5-7min, my only option to proceed is to pay for the app. Disappointed about this process.
Good but lacks information
I was using Yuka a bit, then searched for a different app to fully understand what was in my food. I do not consume seed oils or processed ingredients, so finding an app that worked was vital. Olive is great in most cases, but the database is lacking when it comes to products in Canada. I scan something and there’s no data on the items, it seems to be increasing every time, it’s mildly disappointing cause I did pay 99 dollars for the years access and half of what I scan doesn’t provide information about the products. I manually have to take pictures of the front and back of most things and submit it, yet there’s no information returning back on the products. PLEASE update this, people pay good money to know what’s in their food and I wanted this app to help me with food choices. Canada needs this.🇨🇦
review
amazing label scanner app! it’s really opened my eyes to so many labels and ingredients! a must have
“Free” paid trial
Charged me for free trial with no refund after cancelling membership, tried to fear monger me into signing up again by claiming the day after the “membership” expired by sending a notification that something scanned had now been recalled. I am pregnant and all these FDA recalls are terrifying, how horrible of you to try and use that to make me pay again. That’s sick.
Compared to YUKA app and there are some MAJOR DIFFERENCES
Major differences between YUKA and Olive. Olive labeled a food 100/100 then scanned on YUKA and it was 36/100. Went back and scanned the same product and olive said it was a whole different product than what I scanned. This has occurred multiple times and the inconsistency has me going elsewhere.
Too much
I must have hit 20 screens collecting data on myself… how about just getting to the app? I’ve done this before many times to just end up at a paywall…
Can’t be without
I absolutely love the Olive app and my teenage kids have started scanning everything in the fridge and pantry! It is helping us make the best choices when we go to the grocery store 😍🫒
Annoying to Test
Nothing worse than having to answer a bunch of questions with no way to skip and end with the only option is a free trial that still needs payment on file. Just wanted to try the app without the nonsense first.
.
Only bad thing is that u have to pay to be healthy
Olive
Seems like a cool app! Didn’t realize I had to pay to use.
Let’s try
I’m a long-time Yuka user, and I’ve been looking for an app like this that offers deeper insights into products. I haven’t had the chance to fully test it yet, but I’m really looking forward to comparing my Yuka results with Olive’s. I have high hopes that this will be a great tool. For now, I’m giving it a 5-star review in appreciation of the work that’s already been done. I also hope the app includes products from Canada, Europe, and beyond, as we’re digital nomads.
Wanted to try an app, lost $75 instead.
In the times were in $75 is a is better used elsewhere. I wanted to try app, started a trial, did not even use the app once, and then had $75 taken out of my account for a year i’ll never use. Stick to doing your own research!
Conflicting Information
I used Olive for the last month and I like the interface, but… I found 2 instances of the same exact food having vastly different ratings. I submitted these to their team and received a response that they’d look into it. But it makes me not trust the app. For example for Dave’s White Bread Dine Right, one entry says “avoid” the other “good”.
My journey
I have used yuka but I am not sure if yuka is 100 percent trustable so I prefer olive if it is free.
Paywall
This app wastes your time setting up a comprehensive profile before hiding everything behind a paywall. I shouldn't have to pay for a subscription just to know if my food is killing me.
SSO IS BROKEN
Not sure how to rate the rest of the app because I can’t get in on iPhone through SSO. Tried Google and Apple and I get confirmation that my data has been shared through Gmail, but the app doesn’t let me past the sign up screen, just says that there was an error. Ridiculous that my free trial started and I can’t even sign up for an account.
