Great interface, smooth app, no clutter, loads to learn. Kindly add explanations to why each move in every line matters so that it becomes easy to comprehend and think accordingly.

Seit einiger Zeit findet Lotus meine gespielten Partien nicht mehr, die App hat den Stand von vor 7 Tagen, damit ist die Rating Anzeige und Win Rates ebenfalls in der Zeit stehen geblieben. Außerdem synchronisiert die App das Puzzle Rating nicht richtig und auch Fortschritt in Openings ist nicht 1 zu 1 wie auf anderen Geräten, trotz Lotus Account.

Terrible
Overpriced. You cannot choose specific variations to study and must look at what it shoves at you. It often suggests incorrect moves and requires you to follow them. It is much easier to simply use an engine and a database to study an opening than to sift through this apps terrible suggestions. You cannot even use it on a computer.
Back option in todo exercise in openings
App is good need more openings and to segregate white and black openings in search and should keep back option to see the moves in to do exercise in the opening rather than going to analyze option and looking it up.
Memory no Teaching
Basically it is a way to learn by hearth some openings, without following the actual theory. There are no guides in the app, there is not even a guide in what the symbols/path means. So you start and youaee puzzled where you are gojng. Bit of a blunder buying this.

This app is great but just a problem I learn a new opening but I keep forgetting they need a system that makes you remember and sticks to your head but it’s still a good app and fun so I will move to a new app

It makes no sense to use
It doesn’t explain why we play the move , what is the reason!? Nothing is good

Blind memorization
It’s kinda boring was hoping it would explain why we’re making each decision so you learn how to think better instead it feels like it’s training you to play like a computer, lifeless
Great in some ways, but limited in others
The biggest issue with the app is that it will not let you reset a particular opening course once you’ve started it, so if you take a chunk of time off and forget how the beginning of opening starts, you cannot reset and start from scratch to relearn. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded the app multiple times to deal with this, and it’s a pain in the butt. This feels like an obvious thing that could be improved.

I just started using this app recently but I genuinely love the simple UI and ease of use! I think I finally found an opening trainer that actually works!

Promising, but it doesn’t tell you the “why”
Very promising app, but it focuses on blindly memorizing moves with repetition. It asks you to move a piece to a spot but never tells you “why” that’s a good move… There’s literally no way for me to learn anything this way. If you don’t teach the abstract idea behind certain moves, then you’ll have to memorize every different pattern combination, which is impossible. Abstract ideas help you solve previously unseen problems. Until those issues are solved, I’ll be cancelling my subscription as I’m not benefiting from it (yet).

It is helping me learn openings but it is to quickly so I have a little trouble understanding.
Has potential?
While the idea of brainlessly memorizing moves is cool to some, I absolutely detest this. Nothing has made me hate chess more than this app. Like a moron I actually paid for it. Huge mistake! Zero explanations, zero help. You’re not “learning” anything. Just memorizing lines so you can beat some random idiot at blitz. But you’ll never actually learn anything. Super disappointing and I hate that I wasted money on this app.

Great but needs a few QOL improvements.
It’s an absolutely amazing app and helps so much, especially learning long theory like the Scandinavian or Sicilian, but it could do with each lesson telling you what variation/line it is teaching and allowing you to study one variation at a time if the user wants to, instead of revising multiple lines at once which can be confusing. Overall great though.
Rote memorisation
Can’t understand how this app is so highly rated. 1. Main concern is that it is rote memorisation; there is no explanation for the moves. You are supposed to just memorise them. Which means, especially as a beginner, I don’t actually develop as a chess player, and conclude lines in positions that I don’t understand. 2. Unable to reset progress. “Play the move you’ve learned” - it’s been 4 weeks since I opened the app, I don’t remember?? So then you have to guess, which if you guess incorrectly, you have now mentally reinforced the wrong move. 3. Why are you offering me to “update” lines when I accidentally deviate? Why are you offering me to change the line you are saying is the optimal line? 4. Often I want to study the position once the line is concluded, but once I have done so the board is automatically blurred for no reason whatsoever. 5. Some of the “beginner” lines put you in positions that are remarkably similar to those I’ve seen get annihilated in various YouTube videos, for example in Kings Pawn opening for black, you advise to just keep gobbling pawns all the way to their back rank. Meanwhile their pieces are opening up for a huge attack. Neglecting opening principles is not recommended for beginners by any of the professionals I watch. 6. Why is there a category for openings, and then a random “crushing” category? What is this? Are these better? More risky? Why have these lines been separated?
Annoyingly repeating while switching lines
The app repeats the progress again when you switch the line during progress and makes you repeat the whole lesson from the beginning. They also have a slower engine analysis now, making it hard to analyse moves that are not designated inside the lessons. It’s a nice app for a quick revision, but it is not recommended as the main tool to learn openings as it doesn’t allow you to choose variations and learn them in detail. For example, I play the Catalan, and it doesn’t let me choose a certain variation such as the Rapport Stonewall system that is gaining popularity recently, and I’m unable to find out where this exact line is. I would give it 5 stars if the navigation to specific lines are made possible instead of simply categorizing all of them into one bundle.

This app is a total waste of time and money if you are trying to learn openings. There’s no explanation to why you need to make a move. There are “Course”, “Crushing” and “Variations” tabs in the app. None of them actually show the right moves or explain why they are the correct ones. It just keeps saying “Make the move you learned”. Where can I learn the moves? I can’t find where I can review the correct moves that I learned a while ago. And I keep getting wrong moves because I don’t remember which one are correct. I’ve looked everywhere. It’s like a guessing game. It’s extremely frustrating. I bought it a yearly subscription and now regret it. I won’t be renewing it for sure.
Was great until…
So this is the only chess app that has kept me consistent with training and I’ve seen the benefits during gameplay. Unfortunately, I was scrolling down my progress tracker today and must have missed-clicked on ‘reset progress’ and now I’ve lost hundreds of positions of training progress. Can this be undone? More to the point, will you add an ‘Are you sure you want to reset your progress?’ safeguard?
If you like memorizing
I love the idea of practicing all the opening until you know them, but the review of just jumping straight to a random position in whatever opening you are studying isn't helpful for me to learn in any way other than memorizing positions. If I could somehow see the moves leading up to it (by maybe pressing a button) I feel like it would be a big help. I will say that using this app in conjunction with other apps that show the theory is helpful but annoying to not have even "show me last three moves" option that I would definitely have over a game.

This app helped me gain 70 elo in under a week! It offers puzzles, analysis for every game, every opening you can think of, plus mid game and endgame scenarios, tracks the entire history of your account and every game you’ve played, and is the best way to improve that I found. A pro subscription cost less per year than the least powerful subscription on chess.com It’s a no-brainer
It’s very good
I don’t think this is worth 5 stars but if your a chess lover (like me) this can be really good for your opening not waved with ads or anything just really good! If you like chess have chess.com and want to improve this is the app for you!
