Great but a little clunky
I love this app, provides a lot of puzzles for free users and they’re pretty unique, but if you make a mistake it takes you back to the start instead of your last move. It also has a habit of logging me out of the app a lot
This app used to work great, but now fails on a regular basis
You can’t subscribe to the premium features, you can get charged for it. You just can’t use them. Stick to the free features and you will have a much more pleasant experience.

This start of December, I downloaded Aimchess. As I heard it could help out a ton. And those people were right. Great membership deal Personalized training Game reviews and analysis It is helpful that I went from being stuck at 1700, all the way to about 1900 OTB. Can’t access my account.
Tried to access my account I am a premium member. But no luck. Out of no where there is no way to send a password reset email or any way I have found to contact a help line.

Need to include a note that one can only subscribe using the desktop and can then use both the desktop and app.
Many of the “solutions” are incorrect
When you choose the right answer, it marks it wrong. It wouldn’t be so bad if the app at least gave an explanation saying WHY it thinks it’s wrong but it doesn’t do that. It just says you’re wrong. I wouldn’t rely on this app to learn chess, it’s too easy to develop a misunderstanding of the game this way

This app will make you better at chess! I’m definitely seeing the board better. Updated to 5 stars! Sensei is pretty cool. Daily plan I wish there was a countdown or list of exercises with progress bar. As a newb failing the same two exercises and not knowing where I’m at in the list of exercises is frustrating . This is minor thing. Daily challenges. Wish there were more daily challenges. Playground wish there was a hint limiter. Like I only want x number of hints.
The reason to never buy an annual subscription
Logs me out once a week. Theme settings don't persist. Dark mode has white bars on the top and bottom that are blinding. Oh, and the app flashes a FULL SCREEN WHITE SCREEN on open. Why? What possible function does this serve other than blinding us? I've asked 100x on android, too. Please spend some time on your UI
Lots of potential here!
Thanks for making this app! I saw someone review it on YouTube and decided to give it a try and confirmed it’s headed in the right direction. I learned that my game as white is really good (65% wins) but I consistently get destroyed as black (35-40% wins). so I’ve been training regularly with this app to improve my performance as black. My favorite thing right now is the opening trainer: the one where you have to play 10 moves from a given starting position and maintain / gain an advantage. It’s giving me a lot of attacking / defending ideas and showing me certain moves I play on impulse that actually worsen my game. After maybe 2 weeks, I’m already starting to feel the difference in a good way. That said, I think the app still needs work: adding polish to the UI / UX, working on the analysis tool (can you think of efficient strategies to make analysis more engaging and conversational?), and maybe just reorganizing all the cool training tools you’ve built so everything’s easier to find. Something I don’t find as useful is the chess feed. It was interesting on the first day, but then I never opened it again (and that’s fine — there’s so much value in other parts of the app imo). I use the app as an affordable, well-rounded chess coach, so the feed doesn’t seem that impactful to me. Also, 2 random training tool suggestions: guess the ELO and guess the advantage. This would be an interesting way to sharpen my ability to figure out who’s winning based on any position. Oh! And a suggestion for improving tactics: force people to commit the entire sequence before showing if they’re right or wrong. Sometimes I don’t actually know the answer… I just figure it out move by move, which is not good for my long sequence calculation ability. At least making this a “mode” would be super handy to force me to see things before I actually make a single move. So yeah, excellent app, I really appreciate it after using it for a few weeks now! It was a little overwhelming for me at the beginning because of all the stuff I now had at my fingertips (UX improvements and progressive disclosure will take you far!) but now I’m really seeing the vision. The app really has a lot of ways to improve. The puzzles are slow and you can’t always go back and look at previous puzzles. The only personalised part seems to be it takes puzzles from your actual game that you missed but even that is not always good. For example I had a mate in 4 I missed and instead I repeated moves. The puzzle started off from the second time I was in the position and there was no longer any chance to checkmate as the road to checkmate meant I would have to repeat the position and draw, so it was an impossible puzzle. When I clicked on the solution it said there was only one move but when I played it it said it was a mistake because it was a draw. The app moves slowly and most of the features you can’t access if you don’t pay. The good thing about it is the three free insights you get which are very detailed.
Not great
UI/UX is not great. A lot of the daily training plan takes a lot of time and doesn’t help me learn. All of my statistics fluctuate and don’t seem to mean much. The idea of this app is amazing, but it didn’t deliver.

This is a great tool to improve your chess however when clicking the button to get premium the app ALWAYS crashes. Otherwise, I love this app and I love the site in a browser as well.

Lost premium access
I have lost premium access after purchasing through Apple. The app keeps asking me to sign in with a different account and when I try to resubscribe it says I’m already subscribed and need to log in with that account. This app is confused. Please help.

1. Upon opening the app there is a list of lists with no particular order of difficulty, frequency, priority, expected duration. Basically like walking into a library, while expecting to walk into a classroom. Needs direction for user to know what to start with, and where to from there. Take for example, Duolingo. 2. When using opening trainer and a mistake is detected, show better alternatives and allow going back one move, instead of having to restart the entire line.
Huge letdown
Do Not Get This App!!!! I have had aimchess for 5 months. I fell for their sales pitch and bought the year subscription. I have had to contact support 4 times in those 5 months and their lack of response and effort tells me they have absolutely no interest in providing the app they promised. I have been unable to log into the app for the last month. Other than the money they have swindled from me, My subscription clearly means nothing to them. Trying to move the pieces is a nightmare because they freeze. And will only move to the incorrect solution square. For an app that claims to evaluate you on your performance so it can customize your training. I’m struggling to see haw they get an accurate reading on your weaknesses when their puzzles force you to make mistakes. The overall layout and appearance is lacklustre and the lessons/exercises leave you underwhelmed There are a lot of chess resources in the App Store and internet. There is absolutely nothing about this apps approach that makes it worth your time. Keep scrolling!!! To the aimchess team. You are a bunch of scammers. Trusting you is without a doubt my biggest regret in my chess journey! Thank you for teaching to look deeper before I buy.

Furthermore, customer service support is A PIPE DREAM. Want to resolve their FRAUDULENT billing via chess.com support pages? Welcome to the abyss. Aimchess is a Consumer Fraud Action Lawsuit in the Making. Stay away unless you have money & time to burn.
I’d like to give it 5… almost there.
Still new. Definitely very innovative and I use it everyday. Pros : Intuitive and custom to you based of your games history. I think this is amazing! Improvements I’d like to see 1) At times during my daily training I accidentally click “next” instead of retry and it takes me away from it 2) Would like to SAVE openings in opening training to save time and not have to set up the pieces every time 3) Explanations on why a move may or may not be optimal. Sometimes during the intuition trainer you make a guess and it points an arrow when it’s either right or wrong. Sometimes it may still not be clear when seeing the arrow especially for newer players. An explanation would be very helpful! Thank you and hope to see an update soon!
Just a slightly personalised chess puzzle app
I am a lowly 800 :( and wanted to get into the four digit numbers. I have watched hours of YouTube and I was considering a coach but it thought this would be cheaper and promised it could help me to improve FAST! Not so.. The app basically pulls games from your chess.com or lichess it finds the mistakes you’ve made and then asks you to make the right moves in that position again. I’m pretty sure that when I blundered my queen I knew what I did wrong! Re-doing the position didn’t make me a better player or help me at all. It also asks you to do drills (which are basically just puzzles which you get for free on most chess apps). Again, there is nothing revolutionary here and certainty nothing which will improve you at any great speed. The puzzles on chess.com are just as good, but they are included in my subscription. The app works fine and looks good, but it doesn’t give you any real insight into your games that you can’t find very easily through chess.com or lichess stats. It also doesn’t train me to get better in any way that isn’t built into most apps. For the price I was thinking it would be a really intuitive and in-depth look at my play and be similar to coaching, but I was very sadly mistaken. It is just a chess puzzle app, but they are slightly personalised to you. Paid for the first month and deleted the app.
Great ideas but lack some fine tuning
Since week or so, app is incredible laggy and doesn't work as before. I've uninstalled it and rebooted the phone. Still laggy. One thing which bothers me is the training with the best move. Sometimes it doesn't make sense.

Great premise but ..
Interface and usability is ok. Decent premise to analyse games is ok actually especially with the fact that chess usage has tripled since covid pandemic. However I give 1 star because of the price pcm. When other training apps are free or cheaper, when you can watch YouTube vids I don't think the subscription is worth it for what is "provided." seeing that many ppl lost their jobs etc £9.99 a month is a bit much. Maybe when and if it is discounted then maybe I'll change my review Update - kinda disappointed that for the paid version they are spelling errors with entire words missing from the tutorials etc. I've spotted two so far. I've increased my star rating. For the money paid I would expect better
Needs more features
Let me start with generally I like the concept of training being based on the actual mistakes I am making in my chess games. I like it. I think it needs refinement in its execution. For example, intuition trainer has you look for the mistakes made but doesn’t have an option to fond the best move in the position to learn from. I found that frustrating.

Useful Exercises
This might actually be helping my terrible chess game. I think it’s really about my will to think before moving. It’s so easy to move, and it takes energy to think. I notice that I can’t go back to the starting position of an exercise if I get it right to analyze my previously incorrect move. Also, if I accidentally click Next I can’t return to the previous exercise to analyze it. That’s a little frustrating.

Pretty good but buggy
I really love the exercisesAnd I love seeing my mistakes and tracking my score and so forth. My problems with the app is : It keeps logging me out. Sometimes the puzzles have the wrong answer.For example, one puzzle had the best move which was wrong when compared to the internal chess engine. You can’t review any of the puzzles that you missed. They also haven’t made updates to it in a long time. That said I like the idea and hope the tool will be improved.
Awesome chess app
The updated app is very well done. The feed shares interesting chess history, move challenges and other items. The tactic puzzles run smooth. Very clean app navigation overall. Big improvement and appreciate the work to create a great experience.
Can’t Change Chess.com User Name
It’s very frustrating. I have changed my user id on chess.com about a year ago and Aimchess still used my old Chess.com username so all of my new games are unnoticed. There ought to be a way to change or update one’s accounts but I have searched everywhere and there are none. Otherwise it is a great program. Wally K.

How is this app supposed to help me if I can't use it?????
App crashes
When I press “Get Subscription” the app crashes every time. It’s kinda ironic that the app isn’t letting me sign up for premium lol I have no idea how good this app is overall so I’m only giving it three stars now, fix this bug and I’ll give it 5 stars until I see how I do on it for a month to give it a chance. I might have to do this on the pc instead of phone which is kinda inconvenient currently.

Almost perfect.
I love this app and have used it daily since I started chess as an “adult improver.” One thing that I think could be improved is the “blunder preventer” exercises. Instead of giving only two options where the differences are sometimes very difficult to judge as an inexperienced player, why not give us what the blunder was originally and ask us to find the best move to continue, similar to the 360 trainer but focusing on the blunders.
Interesting concept, poor execution
Seems like a useful tool to improve in chess, but the free version is very lacking. The app itself feels like a walking ad for its subscription. Aimchess reels users in with the 40 game summary statistics only to reveal the only training activity on the app, “warm up”, is just a glorified puzzle rush. All of the improvement plan features are locked behind a $7.99/month paywall with no taster to tell if it’s worth it— my guess is you’re better off sticking to Chessable for opening repertoire training and Chesstempo tactic training
Good, but could use improvements
The app is great, but I’m shocked that the analysis engine does not provide best move when reviewing instructive games where you made mistakes or had an advantage. In addition to that, it would be good to export to PGN as well as FEN.
